Went to pick up some cake for my daughter's birthday. The person helping me was not very helpful, and it took 10min to get assistance. The cake was pretty, but was way too sweet and lacked flavor from the fruit filling-it was dry. I have ordered cakes from Tastries in the past but this past weekend I purchased one for my sister's baby shower and what I ordered was a vanilla cake with strawberry filling, what I got was what resembled a tres leche cake with strawberry thick cream filling, and it did not taste that good either. For $90, I would have expected better. I could've saved money and got a better tasting cake at Walmart or Costco. Very disappointed and I normally am not this disappointed by cake. By far the best bakery is Bakersfield CA. THE cakes are so moist. And delicious. Plus the staff is very friendly. They make incredible gift baskets of treats. I ordered a cake over the phone and was told a specific price..I payed the deposit and was excited to see the final result.Within 2 days someone called me and told me that in order to have the price the same they would have to cut back on some of the details and what I wanted would be an extra 100!! Visited Tastries Bakery yesterday for the first time yesterday! Wow!! I walked through the door and was instantly charmed by the cheerful service, vintage setting, and beautiful display of their masterpieces which largely include wedding cakes. In addition to baking pastries, cakes, cookies and all things yummy, Tastries also offers a variety of freshly made sandwiches (chicken, tuna, egg to name a few) to enjoy should you accidentally end up splurging on the sugary goodies and feel the need for something savory! I tried a variety of their yummies including the fudge brownie which I must comment on before going any further. *closes eyes and fondly remembers the delightfulness of the brownies* All I can say is that Ghirardelli brownies got NOTHING on these brownies!!!!! They are moist but not gooey, fudgy, and the chocolate flavor....ooohhh yyyuuummm...I just can't! Hands down the absolute most amazing brownies ever!!! If you're ever in the area do yourself a favor and stop to get yourself TWO pieces of the fudge brownie...trust me you'll want that second piece!! :) It's worth every single calorie!!! Also tried the cream cheese pillow! Wow wow! If you're into pastries that aren't overly sweet and if you like cream cheese anything you need to order this in addition to your two pieces of fudge brownie. The pastry is light and flaky and the cream cheese filling is smooth and not overly sweet. On top of the pastry there's a sprinkle of sugar that compliments the creamy filling and flaky dough perfectly! I also highly recommend the cheese cake cherry bars!! When you bite into it the dessert simply melts in your mouth!! The layer of tart cherry combined with the cheesecake layer, mixed with the crumb top and roasted almond slivers all blend together in a delicious medley of sweet, tart, crunchy and smooth! Definitely add this to your two pieces of brownie, and cream cheese pillow order! Definitely going to stop by this cute shop every time I'm in the area or passing through! Tried this bakery for the first time. Was responsible for a "Cookie Bar" for a wedding shower. Heard they were the only game in town that had Gluten Free cookies. So decided since I had to order that type of cookie, I might as well order all of the cookies there. The young woman who helped me (Jordan) was delightful and gave good suggestions. I ordered several dozen cookies included specially made heart ones. They used all the colors appropriately, and the hearts turned out very nice, and we had many compliments. However, all the other cookies were a huge disappointment and I would never order them again. When I picked them up, they were all stacked into one box, and by the time I got them home, they were all stuck together. Also, the chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies were not cooked all the way through. Quite honestly, homemade cookies would have been much prettier. Their cookies are not attractive and are very thin. I say all that to end with, they cost me $175.00. That is outrageous, and Smiths' cookies are 100% better. We went to Smiths that afternoon and purchased 5 dozen other types of cookies, for a cost of $13.45. Guess what.....Smith cookies were the first to go and there were several Tastries cookies left on the serving plates, and several half eaten ones on guests plates. read more

The service at the actual bakers was mediocre, as was the taste of their products. Their cupcakes are beautiful but are more beautiful than delicious. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't taste bad, but I have had better. When I called the bakery to order a wedding cake the girl was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. She really helped me find a cake that was my style and my budget. She gave quality service and information that you don't see a lot of now a days. I was very impressed. I wanted a naked cake with real flowers around it. So, the flowers could not be designed until the day of. I provided all the flowers, but I was so busy on my wedding day I showed her the flowers that I had, gave her some scissors and told her "just make it pretty, please" I got my hair and makeup done and when I came back to look at the cake, she was gone but my cake was so cute and romantic, which was exactly what I wanted! She knew how to trim and strategically place the flowers around the cake. My wife had decided to go with Tastries Bakery for our wedding cake. I was unable to attend the cake tasting due to a work schedule conflict, so I was unsure about this bakery. Little did I know just how amazing this place is. Not only was the dessert bar amazing, the wedding cake they created for the wedding was beautiful. The venue's wife had tried a piece of the cake and was shocked on how great the cake tasted and was shocked that the cake was moist. When I tried the cake, it was moist, tasted great, and fresh. It did not have the staleness that other wedding cakes have from other weddings. This bakery knows what they are doing and I will be doing more business with them in the future. If you need a cake, cup cakes, cake pops, or any other baked dessert for any special occasion than this is the place to go. I highly recommend it to all friends and family. read more
