Had an amazing time at Din Tai Fung I had a reservation, so getting a table was super easy. I definitely recommend making one ahead of time because I noticed they're typically completely booked, especially on busy days. The only downside is the parking situation. You really have to fight for a parking spot, and then you have to walk over to the security checkpoint before making your way to the restaurant. Honestly, the whole process feels like you're going through TSA just to get to dinner . The restaurant itself is pretty noisy and, unfortunately, it wasn't very cold inside when I went. If you're visiting during a hot summer day, just be prepared for it to get warm in there. My ice was melting FAST in my drink! That being said, the food and overall experience were definitely worth it. If you're in Downtown Disney and love dumplings, Din Tai Fung is absolutely worth trying! read more

The food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent, but the pricing is just too hard to justify. Paying nearly $20 for a tray of only 10 small dumplings felt excessive for the portion size. On top of that, I still had to pay an additional $10 for parking even after validation at this location, which made the meal even more expensive. Had lunch with a friend for her birthday and we had a great time. Our server Lucia was phenomenal and had a great personality. The place is very big and has a cute dumpling mascot/statue in the lobby. You can see what feels like a dozen or so people working in the hand wrapped/made wontons/dumpings and noodles... it reminded me of watching the people make cinnamon roll/pretzels in the mall back in the day. You see them making all of it fresh for the day and you can tell when you enjoy your food how fresh it really is. THIS PLACE IS ALWAYS PACKED!! I highly recommend reservations or if you are lucky and patient enough they have walk ups/yelp waitlist available. We waited TWO HOURS! Which for most places can be problematic but not when you are here at the downtown Disney location.... Go on a ride or two while waiting and then return when it's your turn. My friend is pescatarian and we shared the vegan spicy wontons and vegan dumplings as well as the garlic string beans and wok noodles with shrimp. Everything was phenomenal and oddly enough I think the string beans were my favorite!!! They have the perfect amount of garlic and perfectly cooked not too tender not too crunchy! We finally tried the Din Tai Fung at Downtown Disney after visiting the Las Vegas location more than five times, and it absolutely lived up to our expectations! The food was just as incredible, the restaurant was as pretty as the other locations I've visited and the service was excellent. The pork ribs are an absolute must--they're truly to die for. We also loved the spicy noodles, the perfectly seasoned green beans, and the hot and sour soup. Every dish was packed with flavor and tasted fresh. Came here to say during the week with my friends and had only a 5min wait. I know on the weekends and during peak times waits can be crazy long. They do take reservations and you can join the waitlist on Yelp so you have time to walk around Downtown Disney or enjoy the park. Staff was really nice and have great recommendations. They have plates for toddlers too. Food and Drinks were delicious and it's always great to watch the chefs make the dumplings. Once you're inside it's easy to forget your at Downtown Disney. When you first walk in I immediately stepped into such a welcoming environment. All of the staff were all so kind to us and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. They had lots of super helpful recommendations, from popular items to personal favorites of theirs, which helped a lot with what I decided to order. I've been wanting to try Din Tai Fung for literally forever! I've heard mixed reviews and have done a lot of research on dishes that are always a hit. When the reservation times opened up to secure a spot for my birthday dinner with my daughters, I jumped on it! We arrived on time and were greeted upon entering. We checked in and were given a buzzer and a paper menu for selecting what we wanted to order. Our buzzer went off after a couple of minutes and we were seated promptly. The place is gorgeous and it was packed! This place is definitely popular, and for good reason! Marc and Andrew waited on our table and they were wonderful and super sweet. They took good care of us and made our first time dining here fun and memorable! We started with the spicy cucumber salad which was fresh, crisp and delicious. Then we ended up ordering two baskets of the kurobuta pork xiao long bao soup dumplings. This is what put them on the map and they were perfect! Loved the chili oil to add some spice as well. Followed by the shrimp and kurobuta pork spicy wontons. These were wonderful and not too spicy. The string beans with garlic were amazing! How do they make green beans taste so good? The black pepper beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly and was so tender, it melted in my mouth. For dessert, we got the chocolate and mochi xiao long bao and opted to add the sea salt cream. Just go ahead and order double of the chocolate and mochi xiao long bao, because you're going to want more, just like we did. And do not sleep on the sea salt cream. A lady came and asked if we have been helped and was able to seat us at the bar right away as there were a lot of seats available. Since we've been to DTF before we knew what we wanted to order. Got our appetizer first. Sweet and spicy pork ribs. My boyfriend seemed to enjoy it. I got a taste of the sauce and thought it was good. Then came our chicken dumplings. I like it as it was juicy upon first bite and had great flavor. Then we got our XLB. Same thing. Good. Had great flavor. The soup filing was delicious. Then we got our green beans with garlic. Very garlicky and on point for taste. We waited and waited. And asked about the pork fried rice. They said it was on the way, and we continued to wait. It had already been 30 minutes and we were already just about finished with our food. By the time it came, we were full and done eating. At that point, we decided to cancel our dessert - chocolate XLB with a side of sea salt cream - which I was looking forward to eating. But the service was so horrible. I just wanted to leave. The ambience of the restaurant was very loud as it was a big location that has a large seated occupancy. One star for the food. Negative stars for service. Wait time is ridiculous (deduction of two stars) but also can be convenient if you are visiting the park as you can put yourself down for a reservation 4-5 hours in advance for a table. They limit you to max of 5 people per reservation. So if you have a large party another person would need to also make a reservation. All members must be present or they will not seat you. Also given large parties they will try to accommodate you by seating the group together but not guaranteed. The food at din tai fung is like that of their other locations in the SGV. For what it is, it's okay in my opinion due to the fact that its nothing spectacular taste wise when compared to other restaurants that serve similar foods other than the portions are way smaller here and presented in a neater fashion. Basically you are paying for the ambience, presentation, Michelin star status, and less greasier (marginal) food. We ordered their fried noodles with skirt steak, and fried noodle with chicken, xiao long bao, chicken dumpling, cod dumpling, bok choy with scallion infused oil. The good was their xiao long bao, but nothing to write home about it taste like it should, the only difference is that it does not break easily and does not stick to the tray which helps in retaining the juice by noy breaking the wrap. Dumplings were steamed and tasted okay, the cod i do not recommend as it was a bit bland (prefer the chicken), fried noodles were also okay pretty basic in flavor and what you'd expect from a noodle dish. All in all a decent meal at a higher cost. Overall if you are hankering for chinese/taiwanese food with xiao long bao i say make your reservations in advance and if you are not that hungry and don't plan on order a good amount of food then this is the place. If you are hungry and do not need to eat chinese/taiwanese cuisine then you are better off at the other eateries around downtown disney and at the park. Would i come back? Holy crap holy crap holy crap - I understand why my coworkers had to make our reservation 2 months in advance!! Every dish I tried at this family style restaurant was delightful, and as a vegetarian, I still had a ton of options. We had to wait a little to get in, even with a reservation, and the crowds didn't slow down the whole time we were there - this place does a ton of volume! Our group of 10 had to split into two - 5 person tables, which was a bummer - we weren't sure why their biggest party size offered was 8. We were seated far from our other party, not even within sight of each other (which was odd), and later found out there was an empty table next to them the whole time, so I'm not sure why we couldn't have sat there. Even with that snafu, I'll still be raving about this place for a long time! The 5 of us ordered a ton of different items to try and share (it was recommended we get 1-2 "entrees" per person at the table). I could go on and on about how much we all enjoyed this dining experience, but here are some quick thoughts: - cucumber salad: my colleagues raved about this! When it was set on the table, it wasn't all that impressive looking, but the first bite lit me up: these were the crunchiest cucumber slices I've ever had, the sauce had the slightest kick and was so flavorful, I was wowed. I got another order to go to snack on and would not and will not shut up about these - you must try! - green beans with garlic: super crispy, refreshing, delicious - incredible! - Vegan dumplings: very heavy on mushroom, which wasn't listed in the ingredients. The only thing I would change is the strong scent of balsam or cinnamon that hits you when you walk in the doors. It felt so out of place, and multiple people in my party were not a fan of it. After a long day of being on different modes of transportation and on the verge of a headache, this strong scent made me start to feel ill, and is just not needed in a restaurant environment. It is the cleanest, friendliest Din Tai Fung I've attended. My time here tonight was unforgettable. Not only was I greeted by a sweet waiter named Daniel who was very accommodating and made me laugh! He was amazing and checked with us regularly. This visit was very special to me as we were celebrating and when I received my cucumber salad I realized that it was more watered down than I would have liked. When I told Daniel he was very accommodating and went straight to tell the cooks, after the manager visited our table and apologized, Sean was very sweet and apologized for the mistake. Great First Visit, but Some Dishes Needed More Flavor This was my first time at Din Tai Fung, and we came for lunch. My brother handled the waitlist (thankfully), because this place was busy. The servers were attentive, and our dishes came out one by one -- a bit slower than I prefer, but everything arrived hot. My favorite dishes were the sweet and sour baby back ribs, the green beans, and the Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao. We ordered several other items, and everyone at the table enjoyed them -- especially my son. For me personally, some dishes were a little mild and could've used more seasoning or salt, but they were still good overall. We'd definitely come back and try more of their menu. read more

The first place that had a full place setting for my baby, so cute and such a thoughtful touch. The food is amazing as always, but the wait can be crazy.
