I suggested trying to find a milk tea or boba place to relieve us of this scorching temps. Cuzzo suggested coming here, "I'm sure they have something you'd want." And that, they did. Cuzzo skipped the drink as he wanted to keep room for lunch. My niece went for a taro. And since I haven't had Ovaltine since probably my teens, I got their cold version (really, it's just to see if it still had that familiar taste.) "It'll be about 10 minutes." So we're told. We came through around 130-ish on a Saturday, so I'd consider this a post-lunch rush. Still, they had people coming through for dine-in. While waiting, I got to see their menu and whoa. They have some pretty good stuff up in here! (If it were my call, I might have just eaten here instead!) Our drinks came through in no time. I must have been really thirsty because my first sip was huge, taking almost a third of the cup. It was refreshing, and there was that familiar Ovaltine taste. However, it's watered down... or under-sweetened. (Okay, so I'm not really into sweets, so for me to say that, is sayin' something.) A tablespoon or two might have made it better. It did quench the incessant thirst, but taste-wise... meh. DRINKS: 2.5. Good, but can be better. SERVICE: 3. Not a lot of interaction other than putting in the order and the payment. VALUE: 3. PARKING: Huge private lot located in a huge complex. OVERALL: 2.75. I bumped them up to a 3 because I feel it's not fair to do an overall 2-star review based on a drink. I was craving Chinese and kept getting this place as a suggestion. My go-to place is in FV but I needed a quick lunch place and this satisfied all the needs. Each meal consists with a side of rice. My boyfriend and I ordered Honey Walnut Shrimp, Kung Pao Chicken, and Hot & Sour Soup with Chicken. The star of the show was the soup because it had the perfect spice and sour to it. The shrimp came next especially because of the sweet glaze on it. As for the kung pao chicken, I might try it with either beef or shrimp next time because it might have a better flavor to it. Other than that, it was deliciously made. We wanted to make this family style, but there was still so much food at the end of it! The only problem I had was how long it took for the food to come out. Good food, great service--what more could I ask for? Came here after craving Cantonese food and hearing about this place from friends. After a brief wait, we were seated in a nice, bright, open dining area that was full of people but it never felt like we were crammed together. Ordered five dishes family style. Our fave was the salt and pepper pork chops- crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, with just the right amount of salt and pepper, green onion, and sliced jalapeños sprinkled on top. The chow mein was crispy until soaked in a savory gravy, and even then, the noodles maintained a nice texture without ever getting soggy. We tried the spicy fish fillets, not knowing what to expect, and they were delicious, with just the right amount of crunch without feeling batter-heavy. Very fast and attentive service. Also when you order a milk tea or lemon iced tea, there was free refill which was nice! Overall I love Cantonese food and the baked pork chop is my go to. This dish did have more bones than usual but still very tasty and not overload of saltiness. Eggplant is always yummy and the noodles with beef was new to me and my favorite dish of the night. Menu had spaghetti and a pasta baked dish which caught my eye so maybe for future? Great ambiance and plenty of seating. Parking was a bit difficult as it is a popular plaza. Yelp led me a stray on this one! I was next door and looking for somewhere to have lunch. The reviews were awful so I didn't want to go in but I was hungry and it was convenient. Ambience inside is nice enough at first, but when we got seated at a booth, there was trash and silverware on the floor. The table was also far from the seats, so eating comfortably would have been difficult. We requested to be reseated at a table, so that was nice they accommodated our request. I got the chow fun, and I have to say the taste was definitely there and was on point. A little disappointed they used the thinner noodles instead of the wide noodles, but still very tasty. Huge portion, so I got to take some home as leftovers. We also got the pea shoot dish, which was quite pricey (~$18). Didn't have as much flavor as I would like and not as tender. Tried Tasty Garden since Sam Woo is long gone. To start, we ordered the wrong dishes for our first time here. Vegetable spring rolls, salt and pepper pork chops, shrimp fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, and pea shoots. Too Americanized and plain. There were better looking Chinese dishes coming out of the kitchen that we should have tried. As of the spring tools, must have been frozen...very mushy filling inside. Salt and pepper pork chops were thin pieces of pork chop do they were overcooked and dry and under seasoned. Fried rice ok but a bit bland. Sweet and sour chicken was ok, just not a lot of chicken pieces and the pineapple was small chunks. Pea sprouts were sadly the best. Like I said we ordered wrong. Price wise the dishes were a bit steep. We will give it another try but we will try other things on their menu. read more

Haven't been back for along time. We were feeling some of that steam chicken, and decided to come here after a long trip back from Paso Robles. We came at an odd time, around 4 and there weren't too many people. Waited 5 minutes to get seated and ordered right away. We got beef chow fun, steam chicken, French style filet mignon and the Peking pork chops. We ate all the beef and steam chicken- both very good. The Peking pork chops were good too except a little sweet. The beef chow fun came out last so we didn't have time to eat it and instead took it home. We can't find this type of Chinese food in San Diego, especially the steam chicken. Probably better restaurants in Irvine with that steam chicken around, but for now this will do! read more

We were quite hungry and the entree looked like it has a good quantity of food but we didn't want to eat just one thing so we got 5 items to share for the 5 of us. The service was good and the ambiance was decent. The food was good as well. I would recommend this place. The price isn't too bad for the quantity you get and the quality is good.
