Been wanting to try Tasty Garden for so long and it didn't disappoint. Their menu is HUGEEE a little overwhelming but it was part of the fun trying to decide what sounded best for everyone. My standout dish was the honey pork chop, it was so flavorful and tender and crispy- I love a sweet marinade on my meats and Tasty Garden did it super well! Would highly recommend this dish. The beef chow fun and sticky rice were also very good, the textures on all the carbs were on point and went well with the honey pork chop. The bok choy we ordered was good for a veggie dish and was a nice break from the oily food. Will definitely be back to try the other menu items next time I'm craving Chinese! It might take a lifetime to get through this menu, but I'm willing to put in the work

Establishment is relaxed, clean and spacious. Staff was professional and courteous. We ordered: 1. Walnut shrimp: well sauced and crispy, sweet crunchy walnuts 2. Peking pork chop: excellent flavoring, very tender 3. Xo string beans: flavorful and tender TLDR: Excellent service, good food, good establishment, great value. Would recommend!

Wow...I've been living in the Irvine area for around 2.5 years and just found out about this restaurant. It's so difficult to find good Cantonese food in Orange County without driving up to SGV or visiting SF. This place really surprised me in terms of quality and authenticity. The honey walnut shrimp is a classic must-get. The shrimp was fresh and abundant. The soft noodle beef chow mein was super addicting without being oily. The filet-mignon style beef was super tender and rich in flavor. Really recommend going with a group if you can so you can share family style and try more dishes. It got pretty busy during dinner time but we were still able to flag down waiters for questions and to order.

This has been one of my goto authentic Chinese food spots for a min. I usually order for take out, i decided to dine and the service was 10/10 for us on this occasion. Really attentive even though theres only like 3 servers for 20 tables. Free refills on hk milk tea and free refills on rice. Their menu is huge, but honestly it's all a hit. I did they pork bone broth with noodles 5/5. Clean flavor and good pork flavor. Baked pork chop has a good sear and is juicy. Also got the curry fired pork cutlet. Reminds me of like Japanese katsu, 5/5. For how fried and crispy it was i was surprised at how tender and juicy it was.

My friend brought me here for the first time and WOW the dishes here are delicious and authentic! I was actually very surprised because it's hard to find good Cantonese restaurants in Irvine. I got the pea shoots as our veggie, honey walnut shrimp, soft noodle beef chow mein, filet mignon style beef, and the salt and pepper pork chops. Everything was really good and service was quick and attentive. Will definitely be back Pea shoots 5/5 - very good especially with the garlic and is very nostalgic for me Honey walnut shrimp 5/5 - classic dish and the shrimp was extra crispy Chow mein 5/5 - so delicious and very easy to eat a lot of Filet mignon 4/5 - it was good but some of the thicker cut pieces were a bit chewy. The smaller pieces were nice and tender though Salt and pepper pork chops 5/5 - perfectly fried with a nice lean pork chop and is generously portioned

Came to Tasty Garden in Irvine and honestly loved everything we ordered. The honey walnut shrimp was my favorite. It was crispy, sweet, and not too heavy at all. The clam soup was super comforting and light, perfect to balance everything out. We also got the crispy noodles with beef, and the noodles stayed crunchy while soaking up the sauce. On top of that, the service was great. The server was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Definitely coming back and would reorder the same dishes again.

Family style Chinese food is served! I had: 1. Salt and Pepper Pork Chop 2. Sautéed String Beans in XO Spicy Sauce 3. Filet Mignon Fried Rice in Special Sauce 4. Fish Fillet in Sweet & Sour Sauce 5. House Special Chicken with Ginger & Scallion

Our search for good Hong Kong style Chinese food continues. This place was packed on Christmas night, taking ~30 minutes for our party of 5 to get seated. We ordered: N1.House Special Ckn(Half): $20.95 (just average) O2.Peking Style Pork Chop: $19.50 (average) R4.Fish Fillet in Sweet & Sour Sauce: $20.50 (my favorite dish) Y13.Seafood Chow Mein: $19.98 (gummy noodles) Y6.Beef w/ Egg Chow Mein: $18.98 (gamey tasting beef) Everything was just average except the noodles. Noodles were poor; they tasted under-cooked and gummy. I didn't even get a second helping and noodles are usually my favorite. People seem to enjoy this place, but it's just not for me!

If you're looking for an authentic Hong Kong Cafe experience, this is the spot. We ordered a mix of our favorite dishes and they did not disappoint. The interior is also super clean and the servers are wonderful! Baked Seafood with Cream Sauce & Noodles: This was pure comfort food. The sauce was rich and silky, and the corn added a nice sweetness that balanced the savory seafood. There was a variety of seafood like fish, scallops, calamari, and shrimp. Beef Chow Fun (Dry Style): The true test of a HK chef! The 'Wok Hei' was incredible--no excess oil at the bottom of the plate, and the rice noodles had that perfect charred flavor. Fried Chicken Wings with Spicy Salt: Perfectly crispy skin with just the right amount of heat and garlic. They were juicy on the inside and addictive on the outside. Honey Pork Chop with Garlic: A great balance of sweet and savory. The garlic really punched through the honey glaze, one of my favorites of the night! Great portions and fast service. Definitely a must-visit for comfort food!

Haven't been here in a while, but still a great place for a casual HK style lunch. Make sure to come early on weekends and be prepared to wait. After about 25 mins, we were seated and promptly greeted. We ordered a few dishes to share amongst ourselves and they were all pretty tasty. The diced chicken with creamy corn rice was a delicious and comforting home style dish. House special chow mein was my favorite dish, as it was filled with veggies and meats/seafood, and wasn't too salty. Wonton soup was good as far as wonton soups go (I don't usually like this dish, so I'm not the best judge of this dish). The restaurant itself was modern, wait staff were friendly and prompt and atmosphere was lively.

Came here for a dinner on a weekday. The service was amazing as they were very attentive and helpful. Our server recommended a cheaper alternative dish as one of the items we selected was out of season and the recommendation was very tasteful and could become a replacement for the original dish for us. He was also attentive as one of our party dropped their chopsticks and he immediately came over with a new pair without us needing to ask. Food was good as always.

Absolutely loved my experience at Tasty Garden! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was packed with authentic taste, and you can really tell they use quality ingredients. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked i Definitely one of my new favorite Chinese restaurants in Irvine. Prices are also relatively affordable I'll be coming back again and again!

Tasty Garden is located in a bustling center with a 99 Ranch Market and many other restaurants and shops. We've dined in and ordered takeout on many occasions. It is one of our regular places when we're in the mood for rice or noodles and some side dishes. They are usually reliable for cranking out our to go orders. A family member was ill and we needed to get some takeout, including porridge, a comforting staple. My husband brought home the food and I was astonished at how much it costed for just four items. Additionally, the taste was nothing special. In fact, the vegetables were overcooked and wilted. We were very disappointed and felt let down, especially when we needed to provide a relative with nourishing food. I'm not certain that we will be ordering food from here for a while. Looks like I'll be on the hunt for another place with better offerings and flavors.

I was surprised by how empty the restaurant was when we arrived, especially since I remember this being one of the hardest places to get a reservation a few years ago. When we were first seated, our table felt a little cramped for the size of our party. We asked if we could move, and the staff was very accommodating and allowed us to select a more comfortable table on the other side of the restaurant. It's been a few years since my last visit, and my family usually comes here for weekend dim sum rather than dinner. From what I remember, the portions seemed a little smaller this time around, but the overall quality of the food wasn't bad. A few dishes were slightly saltier than I prefer, but the Peking duck and Braised Beef Stew Clay Pot were easily the highlights of the meal. Both were incredibly flavorful, and the meat was fall-apart tender. The service, however, felt a bit disorganized throughout the evening. There were several occasions where we had to flag someone down for extra napkins, utensils, and additional tableware. Not anything major, but it did take away from the overall dining experience. On the plus side, the prices were very reasonable considering how many people we were feeding. Overall, it's still a solid option if you're craving Chinese food, especially for larger groups.

In Chinese cuisine, some barbecue meats and cold dishes are prepared in advance and may be served at room temperature or reheated before serving. Using a microwave does not automatically mean the food is low quality or not fresh. It can simply be part of the serving process. Chicken and duck are also commonly chopped and served with the bones still inside. This is a very traditional way of preparing and serving these meats, although customers who are unfamiliar with this style may find it inconvenient. The food here tastes authentic, and in my opinion, Frank's BBQ is one of the best traditional Chinese barbecue restaurants in Orange County. It may not match everyone's personal preferences, but I think it is important to understand the culture and preparation style before unfairly criticizing the restaurant or calling the food bad.

The parking is VERY bad here but you'll find parking if you go farther towards the supermarket side. Yes there is always a wait here especially on peak weekend hours but the lines move very fast. You do ideally need a mandarin/cantonese speaking person however since majority of the staff don't speak english if you need help. The menu is huge with all your traditional HK cafe foods including a separate breakfast and lunch menu. The must have beginner items are the Iced Lemon Tea or the HK Milk Tea. They have changed the policy so you only get ONE refill now then you'll be charged for the 2nd refill! There on-going promotion is BOGO 1/2 steamed chicken or add $3 if you want soy sauce chicken. A very common deal in the rowland area however this place isn't the BEST for steam chicken since its abit lacking in meat and flavor buts till a good deal for larger parties. The other go-to items here are the walnut shrimp, french style filet mignon, egg plant with garlic sauce casserole. Get the short rib version if you want more protein! All of these dishes are super authentic and delicious and very consistent every time! There are secret menu items not on the menu like the stir fry two types of noodle with salted vermicelli(咸魚肉片炒雙麵/炒雙營). It's a classic HK dish with thin egg noodle and chow mein noodle mixed together. This chow mein becomes super crispy while the egg noodle remains soft. The saltiness of the salted fish goes great as the main carb. The service here is great with very attentive waiters. While I never thought Capital Noodle Bar was the best noodle joint that you could find in/around Irvine, this place was always so tasty and convenient! Even though they weren't our favorite place, the times we stopped by Capital Noodle Bar was usually on our way to/from the airport for a quick bite. Not only was the restaurant large (snagging a table was never an issue), but our food (typically) came out relatively quick. In addition, their menu was stocked with so many delicious options. It felt a little more Malaysian than Chinese to me, but, regardless, their collection of appetizers, dim sum items, congee, noodle soups, stir fried noodles, entrees, fried rice, and rice plates was so enticing, we couldn't help but come back to try more and more! -- HOT SAUCE TRAY I know it's kind of weird to mention this, but I love their dish of hot sauces. In particular, their jalapenos and chili oil go well with everything we've had here. -- CRISPY TOFU This may not have looked quite like what I had expected, but this was pretty good! The tofu was pillowy soft and piping hot while the outside of it was surprisingly crispy, given how it's not really battered. -- WONTON NOODLE SOUP - Pork & Shrimp Wonton, Egg Noodles We got this as part of their weekday special ($12 all-day, dine-in only), so I'm not sure if the portion size is any different. Either way, this was great. The wonton skins were a little thin, but each piece was plump and juicy, the noodles had a nice bite, and the broth was solid. -- CHAR KWAY TEOW - Shrimp, Chinese Sausage, Bean Sprouts, Egg, and Large Rice Noodles I've been on a bit of a kick ordering this whenever I see it and this was one of the better ones. The noodles were cooked really well (very bouncy), the dish had a slight kick yet it wasn't overly salty/seasoned, and the dish wasn't overloaded with beansprouts. -- SPICY GARLIC CALAMARI Ehh...this wasn't "bad", but it was definitely underwhelming. Although these were seasoned well and had a nice crispiness, the calamari itself was chewy and reminded me of the generic type you get at most other Chinese restaurants. -- TRIO OF BEEF NOODLE SOUP - Sliced Tenderloin, Beef Ball, Beef Stew (Beef Shank, Tripe, Tendon, Carrot), and Egg Noodles I was super hopeful for this one, but it turned out to be just okay. For me, the ingredients tasted fine, but the portion seemed a little light on the beef shank and the broth needed a bit more body to it (felt a little thin). -- CRISPY HAINAN CHICKEN - Deep Fried Dark Meat, Pickled Vegetables, Ginger Rice, Soy Sauce, Ginger, and Chili Sauce Not very traditional, but no less delicious. Boneless Hainan Chicken is appealing enough, but fried, too? While I wish there had been more of it, each piece was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The ginger rice was quite tasty as well! -- WAGYU BEEF POSTICKERS Pretty standard, though, not necessarily in a bad way. Although there wasn't much of a browned bottom/crust on these, I love how big and plump these were and how the filling had a nice, beefy flavor to it. -- HONG KONG STYLE CHOW FUN WITH CHICKEN, Seasonal Greens, Carrot, Mushroom, Egg, Gravy Sauce, and Large Rice Noodles This was just okay for me. The dish had a good ratio of vegetables and meats to noodles, but the gravy didn't do much for me - there was so much of it, it felt more distracting than additive. -- MANGO GREEN TEA Surprisingly, this wasn't nearly as sweet as I feared it would be. The mango flavor in this wasn't super intense and went well with the green tea. Along with how satisfying most of Capital's dishes have been, the other thing that I liked about this place was the staff. Every time we came here, the workers were always friendly and really attentive, even despite how they usually only had one server working. That being said, it has never been all that busy either, which might help explain why their closure. As genuinely bummed as I am to learn that this place has closed, it should be said that it's not like Capital Noodle Bar is gone forever. If you missed your chance to try them, or just want to eat here again, they have another location in Costa Mesa that's still open and just a short drive away. And, as it turns out, it's even closer to the airport, so our pseudo-ritual of stopping off can continue to live on. Thanks for the memories, Irvine Capital Noodle Bar!

It packed a ton of good flavor and came with a very generous amount of toppings. The Salt and Pepper Fried Fish was lovely. The batter was wonderfully light, and I really enjoyed the distinct peppery punch it had. Overall, everything we tried was hit. It's a solid, clean spot with great execution on classic flavors. I would totally come back here again whenever I'm looking for a quick bite!
