Super shout out to the staff for handling our very very large party of like 60 people with grace! They seated us in the corner, which felt a bit more private and handled all the requests of our group with such friendliness. I only got 4 pics before people started eating before I snapped pics The food was great, although I felt the portions were a tad small. It came out piping hot, with a lightly browned layer of cheese and a generous amount of shrimp, squid, and scallops. The seafood tasted fresh, and the rich sauce clung to every bite of pasta. I also loved the curry beef brisket. The beef was so tender it came apart easily with chopsticks, and the mild curry was great spooned over rice. My friend said it reminded her of the curry brisket her grandmother used to make, which felt exactly right for such a comforting dish. Been wanting to try Tasty Garden for so long and it didn't disappoint. Their menu is HUGEEE a little overwhelming but it was part of the fun trying to decide what sounded best for everyone. My standout dish was the honey pork chop, it was so flavorful and tender and crispy- I love a sweet marinade on my meats and Tasty Garden did it super well! Would highly recommend this dish. It's so difficult to find good Cantonese food in Orange County without driving up to SGV or visiting SF. This place really surprised me in terms of quality and authenticity. The honey walnut shrimp is a classic must-get. The shrimp was fresh and abundant. The soft noodle beef chow mein was super addicting without being oily. Tasty Garden is located in a bustling center with a 99 Ranch Market and many other restaurants and shops. We've dined in and ordered takeout on many occasions. It is one of our regular places when we're in the mood for rice or noodles and some side dishes. They are usually reliable for cranking out our to go orders. A family member was ill and we needed to get some takeout, including porridge, a comforting staple. My husband brought home the food and I was astonished at how much it costed for just four items. Additionally, the taste was nothing special. In fact, the vegetables were overcooked and wilted. We were very disappointed and felt let down, especially when we needed to provide a relative with nourishing food. I'm not certain that we will be ordering food from here for a while. I really like this HK cafe style restaurant. One of my favorite place to get the cold chicken with ginger scallion sauce. Trust me ask for extra ginger sauce it's so good. I like the variety they have. We tried their Ginseng black chicken soup it's super herbal so don't recommend unless you want that super medicinal tasting medicine. What happened tonight at this restaurant was genuinely concerning and honestly unacceptable. We came here for Mother's Day dinner and immediately had a poor experience with service. After being seated, we waited over 10 minutes before we could finally wave someone down just to be greeted and offered water. The more serious issue, however, involved food safety. My younger sister has a severe, life-threatening nut allergy. We ordered several dishes for our family, and one of the soups we received contained peanuts despite there being absolutely no disclosure of peanuts on the menu. At a restaurant where nut usage is apparently common, that is extremely dangerous. Thankfully, my sister was cautious and did not eat any of it because she was worried about cross-contamination. After we raised concerns, we were told that the dishes we ordered "should not" contain nuts and that the chefs wash their utensils and woks after each dish. However, we also learned they reuse the same cooking oil between dishes. If peanut-containing dishes are cooked using that oil and the oil is recycled back into the same supply, there is still a major cross-contamination risk regardless of whether the utensils are washed. What made this worse was the manager's response. Instead of acknowledging the seriousness of undisclosed peanuts and shared cooking oil, my sister was blamed for "not mentioning her allergy," even though a different employee took our order and the menu itself failed to disclose peanuts in the soup. Food allergies are not preferences. For some people, this is literally life or death. Restaurants that use peanuts or peanut oil -- especially with shared oil systems -- should clearly disclose ingredients and properly train staff on allergy safety and cross-contamination. This situation could have gone very differently for another family. read more
