    Lobster, last few pieces left!
    Betty G.

Recently met up with my cousins from out-of-town at J Zhou for dim sum/lunch. I arrived a bit late and was busy catching up with them since I haven't seen them for over 20 years so forgot to take photos of all dishes. Fortunately, I've got some and my sister also captured some to share. We had a bunch of dishes: lobster, several types of steamed rice rolls, egg plant stuffed with shrimp, poached Chinese broccoli (gai lan) with oyster sauce, sticky rice in lotus leaves, seafood porridge, chicken feet (no, I didn't eat this!), shrimp dumplings, etc. Everything was delicious. Service was great. Servers and managers were very attentive to our table. I'd like to return to try more items on the menu. Restaurant was clean and parking wasn't too bad.

Hit J ZHOU ORIENTAL CUISINE in Tustin with a couple friends after hearing about their dim sum forever, and yeah, this spot hits the craving just right. We went straight for their 精美点心:每日手工现做,招牌有松露墨鱼汁虾饺,飛魚仔燒賣,鼓汁鳳瓜,金蒜排骨,流沙包,韭菜饺,椰子冻,一口菠萝油, basically turned the table into a dim sum battlefield in the best way. You can feel that everything's made fresh daily, especially the 松露墨鱼汁虾饺 and 流沙包, super satisfying bite after bite. Staff moves efficiently but keeps it friendly, tea topped up, plates cleared, no stress, just eating and chatting. For the amount of food we shared and how legit the flavors are, it's great value for money, genuinely high cost-performance for SoCal. Easy spot to bring family or a bigger group and not worry about the bill too much :)

Super busy at all hours. Went at 2pm and still full. great service though. Get t the e xie mai and the xlb. Don't get the little fried fish dim sum. super fishy tasting and not in a good way. Tea costs extra.

I came here after hearing about their Dim Sum promotion, I'm always a sucker for Dim Sum! The restaurant tends to be pretty busy during weekend lunch, so as always, expect a wait. The place is very clean inside, with nice tableware and tablecloths. I really like how spacious it is, and if your party is large enough, you can reserve one of the private rooms. The waitstaff were nice and friendly, always checking in on us. Food-wise, I was quite disappointed and that might even be an understatement. Many of the dim sum options were bland, with little seasoning or salt. Even the soy sauce they provided was light and flavorless. BBQ pork buns - a complete miss. There was barely any filling or flavor. Hargow - mediocre; the shrimp was quite small and unexciting. Beef chow fun - texture was okay, but the beef and sayce lacked flavor or umami. Fried tofu - decent, but missing a little something, like MSG or seasoning. Turnip/taro cake - meh. Dry and lacking flavor. Tripe - okay, but again, underseasoned. Shumai - this was one of the few dim sum dishes with good seasoning. Steamed chicken - the best dish we had. The chicken was moist, and the scallion oil added a nice kick. Yang Chow fried rice - probably my second favorite. Well-cooked fried rice, but disappointing that it needed MSG for flavor. Also, for $20, it only came with four pieces of shrimp.

We went here with coworkers and found the service to be fast. Everyone was speaking Chinese, so I would suggest either know what you want or go with someone who knows. We did the latter and worked out very well for us. She ordered mostly shrimp dishes as I was the only one in the group who couldn't eat the meat as it was not halal. The dishes we did try were all good. I would say the eggplant wrapped shrimp was by far all of our favorites. The others were also fresh and good but a bit bland for my taste profile. I was very excited for the spicy shrimp not realizing the shell was not taken off and the main seasoning was to eat the outside. That was a bummer since the pictures looked amazing. Overall a good first experience for me.

Stir-fried choy sum with pork ($22.58)

I've been to J Zhou a few times for their banquet-style meals, and I always enjoyed the food. They have a ton of authentic Chinese dishes! This time, I visited with my fiancé and tried dishes from their regular menu. We came here on a Sunday night for dinner and there was no wait. We tried the stir-fried beef rice noodles ($19.88), stir-fried choy sum with pork ($22.58), half-roasted Peking duck ($28.98), and lobster with ginger/scallion sauce (28.88/lb - we got a 2.98 lb lobster). Overall was impressed with the food here and enjoyed everything! The beef rice noodles were absolutely delicious - had a great stir-fry flavor and wasn't overly salty. The beef was tender and soft. The choy sum was cooked and flavored nicely. The Peking duck was probably the best I've had in Orange County so far. The duck pieces were large, and the skin was crispy. It came with soft, fluffy buns and the standard scallions/duck sauce. The lobster was also really tasty. The pieces were tender, and the ginger, scallion flavor was strong. Ambiance was nice with fancy-looking chandeliers. The service was fast, and the waiters were nice and cleared our plates throughout the meal and gave us new plates. Prices were on the higher end because of the upscale nature of this Chinese restaurant and since it's in Orange County, but the food quality was definitely outstanding!

Located in the Tustin marketplace, I have passed this a thousand times but was always doing a grab & go meal in the plaza. One of the days we dropped the kids off at hockey and had a few hours to kill. The Hubs wanted to try the dim sum and said it was an all day offering. Score! I'm in. The restaurant reminded me of the fancy Chinese restaurants in Hong Kong with cloth tablecloths and glass stemware. The tea had its own kerosene to keep it hot. There were many older couples and a large group of businessmen were eating family style. We ordered the sui mais, pineapple buns, baked bbq pork buns, and beef chow fun. The dim sum is smaller than the average portion but the taste & quality were great. The sui mais were unfortunately not fully cooked & were cold and raw in the middle. The waiter came by & asked if it was the wrong item since I stacked them up and put them aside. I told him they were right, just not cooked & split it open to show him. He said ok & walked off. A female manager came over and asked if I wanted to get them cooked again but it took over 20 mins to get the raw ones, so I declined. I said I'd just cook them at home & they boxed it up. The kitchen staff got ripped a new one in Chinese in an angry Chinese Mom tone I'm well aware of. Lol. I was disappointed overall for the price but my husband was still a fan. Might be back but there are better options IMO.

JZhou is a beautiful upscale Chinese restaurant serving authentic Cantonese cuisine. I recommend the Wenchang Chicken but everything is good. The service is great too.

Came for dinner with my friends that are regulars. I've never known how good the food can be. We had a private room, and our friend ordered everything for us. She told us that this is her go to place for Cantonese banquet style food for all celebrations. We loved all the dishes. We had truffle chicken, cold meat platter with roast duck and char siu pork, fresh fish was cooked two ways...steamed and soup. Lobster with noodles, fried whole pigeon, Japanese tofu and mushrooms, and cauliflower. We ended with small complimentary jelly desserts. The service was attentive and the manager checked on us throughout the meal.

    Crispy Beef Wrap (Lunch)

Located at The District, this stand alone establishment looks very fancy and was pretty crowded so I put myself on the waitlist next to the hostess and waited to see how long it would be to eat. The wait was surprisingly quick (12 min) and we were seated. They immediately brought us a hot Tea set and it was refreshing. The menu is large and contains lots of great typical Chinese dishes. I used the menus with pics as it helped me decide what to order as most of it was written in Mandarin or dishes I have never heard of. We started with the Crispy Beef Wrap. It is almost a pastry with soft fried outside and delicious beef and veggies inside. Extremely tasty and is enough for 3-4 people. Love this so much and highly recommended. Next came the French-Style beef tenderloin cubes. This is not on the lunch menu, so if you're there during lunch you will have to ask for it. But make sure you try it as it was my favorite dish we ate there. The meat was tender and juicy and came with asparagus and really comes together nice with the seasoning and flavor. Next came the Yangzhou Fried rice. This was like a typical combo fried rice with a mixture of meat, veggies, and shrimp. And again it's flavorful and delicious. Between the rice and beef cubes, they disappeared very fast. The last thing they brought out was the stir-fried beef rice noodles. These were my least favorite out of everything we ordered. They seemed to lack flavor or something I couldn't pinpoint, however, they just weren't my favorite. The meat had a strange texture and just didn't feel like a quality beef to me. The place inside and very fancy looking with nice ceilings and amazing artwork on the walls. The tables are set nicely and the servers are in suits. The only downside for me is it's very busy inside and loud. I was bumped into by another server twice and it was extremely busy everywhere. It feels very crowded inside and they bring you your food one plate at a time which I also didn't like. We would eat one dish and then another one would come and so on until all your food is checked off. I prefer to get all the main dishes at once. They never once refilled our drinks. The server was nice however and I did really like most of the food, however, the atmosphere and lack of attention to our drinks kind of put a damper on the overall meal. It's worth a try if those things are ok to you.

Best dim sum around this area. Have been here for many years. JT is nice and patient, he recommended us some good dishes, and we all really love these!! Will come back soon

However, when we got home, we realized they left behind 3 pieces of our beef roll (one order comes with 6 pieces, and we had only eaten 3). There was also about half a plate of noodles left, but only a few bites were packed. We paid for all of the food and should have been able to take our leftovers home. But...that's not to say this is bad thing: the dim sum is good here! I'm more used to the regular dim sum, with that punch of flavor. I had to add my own dipping sauces to make the dim sum pop. The beef roll is a MUST. Unlike some places where it can be dry, theirs had the perfect amount of sauce and was so good. Also get the lava egg yolk steamed buns. So soft, moist, fresh, and delicious. And let me say that I've been missing comfort Chinese food, and this place over achieved. The staff were very kind and helpful and the place was very clean. This is definitely must try and tops any other Chinese restaurants I've been to in Irvine!

I was surprised by how empty the restaurant was when we arrived, especially since I remember this being one of the hardest places to get a reservation a few years ago. When we were first seated, our table felt a little cramped for the size of our party. We asked if we could move, and the staff was very accommodating and allowed us to select a more comfortable table on the other side of the restaurant. It's been a few years since my last visit, and my family usually comes here for weekend dim sum rather than dinner. From what I remember, the portions seemed a little smaller this time around, but the overall quality of the food wasn't bad. A few dishes were slightly saltier than I prefer, but the Peking duck and Braised Beef Stew Clay Pot were easily the highlights of the meal. Both were incredibly flavorful, and the meat was fall-apart tender. The service, however, felt a bit disorganized throughout the evening. There were several occasions where we had to flag someone down for extra napkins, utensils, and additional tableware. Not anything major, but it did take away from the overall dining experience. On the plus side, the prices were very reasonable considering how many people we were feeding. Overall, it's still a solid option if you're craving Chinese food, especially for larger groups.
