We are not familiar with the menu so we just tried 3 items the BRAISED BEEF w/ DAIKON , PORK SMALL INTESTINES w / specialty sauce ,BEEF CHOW FUN. Braised beef was okay , but a few of the pieces of meat are hard to eat. Some meats are tender, and some are not. The same goes for the small pork Intestines. Actually, the small Pork intestines are the worst because they're very Chewy and hard to eat. None of the intestines are soft; they're all hard. I was hoping the Beef chow Fun would be at least okay to eat, but this one needs more seasoning because as beautiful as it looks, these chow fun taste bland. I was with my Wife and Son so i was disappointed that we didnt enjoy the food here , mostly because most of the meats are not Tender , they are so hard to eat . When I was back home visiting, my parents took us here and it is amazing Cantonese food!!! So authentic and delicious!!! It gets pretty busy so would recommend a reservation on weekend evenings if possible especially if you have a bigger group. The scallops are a MUST!!!! They're so fresh and the vermicelli is so flavorful. The frog pot was also delicious - the sauce has a little bit of a kick. I forgot to take a picture of the tofu pot but that was so good with rice as well. The chicken was really flavorful and a great tip from the owner: save the bones and cook some congee with it! Absolutely the best authentic Cantonese Chinese restaurant we've been to in a very long time. We asked my mom where she wanted to go for her birthday dinner and she chose this restaurant. She called ahead of time to order many amazing dishes. When we got there, the restaurant is very unassuming. Then (nice) cars start pulling up and you can just tell that all the patrons in there are seeking very high end and authentic food ordered ahead of time. We saw several walk-ins turned away because I over heard the owner telling them that most of the reservations made have pre-ordered their selections for the evening. This place is expensive. But it is ultimate fine dining. You don't need to dress up. You just need to make a reservation, pre-order your entrees and go enjoy an amazing Cantonese cuisine. We cannot wait to go back. There is plenty of parking because they are in a business park. Give them a try. You will be amazed and impressed. My brother who is a major foodie was pleasantly surprised. Pidgeon - was like a mini Beijing roasted duck but that skin was extraaaa crispyyyyy and there was really little meat but it was soooo juicyyyy 3. Shredded chicken 手抓雞 - if you like that hainan chicken trend, this is 50 million times better than that shit you've been consuming. They have some scallion oil throughout the whole chicken and it's so soft and juicy. Like I've had hainan chicken that's dry af but everyone be calling it juicy. Nananaa- you gotta see that drip drip to call it juicy yooooo. 4. Eggplant in preserved fish- it's literally just garlic eggplant but that sauceeeee is addicting with that preserved fish. I ordered with Silvia's help and recommendations: - Buddha over the wall: fresh, high quality, the sauce is delicate for you to tatste the quality of all the ingredients. - Fried swab: rich flavor, the skin is super crunchy outside, flavorful and juicy inside. - Cuttlefish pot: cuttlefish is crunchy, sweet, full flavor, not too much oil, very fresh. - Fried eggplants with fermented fish: this is a very authentic dish, and not for everyone. If you can appreciate the unique taste and smell of fermented fish, you should try this. This is full flavor, goes well with rice, very creative. - Tomato beef soup: clean broth, delicate, very healthy, high quality, very well balance with my other dishes. As authentic as you can get with Cantonese food. Moving here from the east coast, it's been hard to find the flavors I grew up with. For those reviewers claiming this is not authentic, perhaps they haven't visited this particular Canton region the food is from. The front of the house was so helpful in choosing dishes and she even asked if we wanted the menu ahead of time so we can order beforehand. Their dishes are made fresh so they take some time to come out, be patient! It's totally worth it. Certain dishes need a day or two to order ahead of time. I was searching for a quality Cantonese restaurant in OC, most often than not, I could not be happy about any of them until this restaurant came along. If you want quality food, nice and clean environment with slightly pricier price (on most items) then this is a great choice. They have a few items on their menu that are pricy due to the ingredients used ( abalone, sea cucumber, etc..) which required elaborate and timely cooking process) but overall, I'm quite happy with the dishes and price. The salted chicken is very good! Meat is tender, the skin is firm and springy, not greasy at all! Must order. Also, the abalone is well seasoned, very tender as well! Food tasted like it's been sitting around for days, spoiled. I am staying at a hotel close by and rush delivery through Ubereats only took less than 30min! I was not expecting this type of negligence. Not even any napkins, utensils in sight which is such a basic stuff for take out. I do not recommend this place. The soup cooked in a coconut is heavenly. The chicken dish is so tasty and juicy and delicious. Really appreciate the owner package the soup for Togo so carefully also because it's a round coconut. We had dinner at this place last night, it was our 1st time, quite awful experience, could be very well be our last time. The service is nonexistent. There was only 1 lady in the front multitasking on steroids, serving 4 tables of guests, taking takeout orders on the phone, bagging takeouts and etc. There is nothing special about the food either. I had to eat a whole plate of cauliflower pork because the cauliflower was undercooked and my wife refused to eat it. The daily soup was bland, really an insult to Cantonese food. For 2 of us, the total came out to be $150 including tips, an outrage considering the quality of the food and service. Randomly searched and found this new gem. My wife and I love authentic Cantonese cuisine. It's really difficult to find, especially in Orange County. We visited Pakwo's kitchen for the first time and it didn't disappoint. The server Sylvia was very friendly and courteous, and the speed of the food as well as presentation were just right. We order a homemade soup , a friend squab ( so juicy and yummy ), a stir fry veggie, a braised beef pot. They were all very tasty. We will definitely return soon to try other items on the menu.
