So this is a stop I have been meaning to come by for some time now, thanks to Saira K.'s review of the place. I've also been wanting to give Pakistani food a proper chance because the last time I tried Pakistani food I had to give 1-star to for making me vomit, so tacked on another reason for me coming here. Another thing helping its case was that it wasn't too far a walk for me from the Bridgeport Station, so it was a relatively straightforward travel to get here. Tonight was finally my night to go. I will start by saying Saira knows exactly what she is talking about with this place. The owners and employees are friendly people, they do give you fast service, and they do an excellent job packing your food. You can eat inside if you've got the time, but I had to get takeout on this one. I still had to walk 20 minutes back to the station, so eating in wasn't much of an option in my case. As you might have noticed however, I did have to take off a star. Why? Well, to put it this way, if you have problems with your vision, bring a friend with you who can read the menu! The lighting made the overhead menus difficult to see, so I did have to get the man behind the counter to grab me a handheld copy of the menu. This was much easier on the eyes. Now, usually, I do also normally take off a star if the place is a cash only place because cash only makes a return visit more of a longer shot, but luckily I had already known about this before coming after reading some other reviews, and there is an ATM in the Baghdad Mart next door, so it wasn't a huge deal this time around. Now for the food, they do heat food in the microwave as I watched with the biryani that came in my order, but this was likewise not a big deal. Why? Because when I got back to the station to try the food, it was indeed tasty! For my order, I did a Beef Nehari and Garlic Naan, and it came with a salad that had a spicy salad dressing to it. It was a large bag of food too! Wanna know how much it was? $25! That ain't bad, and the food is worth the price! That naan was melt-in-my-mouth delicious. Even though the rice was microwaved, it was cooked just right. The Beef Nehari was spicy for sure, but the meat itself was tender and flavorful. The spice did not overpower the flavor here, and that can be a make-or-break deal depending on your relationship with spice. If they only started accepting card payments here, I'd gladly come again whenever I have time between trains. But yeah, even though the food and service is worth the full 5, the one thing I can't overlook is the difficulty reading the menu. read more

I highly recommend this halal Pakistani restaurant. Food is traditional Punjabi style. The owners are friendly and welcoming! Service was fast and they pack your food very well. I ordered today with uber eats chicken tikka malai boti Anda Kofta Aaloo baingan and tandoori naan everything was delicious good portion perfect temperature I called the restaurant to make sure my order is placed and the owner was really nice and polite and answered all my questions can't say enough good things about this place this is the first time I ordered and I am one happy customer will be ordering again definitely I recommend the restaurant to everyone read more

Every time I'm in Bridgeport I must stop here and pick up food to take home! It's so fresh! Being in this business, I can see how much hard work they put into their food. Choices vary at times which I appreciate! Nihari, Shami kababs, Haleem, all fantastic! I can't even remember the name of my favorite chicken dish but it's so good. It's definitely a whole in the wall but I find that's usually where the best food can be found in every culture. I see a couple reviewers stated it's not typical "Indian food". This is more of a Pakistani Restaurant than Indian. Sure there is some common dishes you would find in a Indian joint, but except more spice and unique dishes closer to Pakistan and Bangladesh. It was good and cheap compared to other "hole in the wall" places I've been to. Some items looked like they sat out all day but most were fresh and the lady at the counter was very nice and patient given I asked what every item was! When you come to Tasty Halal you should know what to expect. First this is not Indian food with rich sauces like korma or masala. This is Pakistani and Bangladeshi food and it is spiced for people from those countries (not for bland American palates). The decor is plain white tile with food on chafing dishes behind glass. The food is delicious. The chicken biryani is spicy but rich with flavor. The aloo saag (spinach and potato) is my favorite side dish but the cauliflower is exceptional too. Last, the chicken tikka barbecue is as good of a chicken you will eat. The spicy yogurt marinaded chicken barbecued on a skewer will change your word. Service can be a little slow but the staff are so friendly and welcoming that you don't mind. It's a great find for adventurous eaters. read more

To my surprise the food had genuinely Pakistani taste ( mind it - not Indian if you are hooked to same curry taste in every dish ). It's cheap and fresh. There is good variety for meat lovers and vegetarians. Tandoori naan is as fresh and nutritious as it gets. The sitting place is reasonable but no the best and yes it was a little hotter compared to others due to faulty ventilation?? The staff is friendly and welcoming. Points to note 1. The menu prices didn't match what I paid. The guy at the register dais the prices changed but all the menus said the same thing. They charged me $5 for rice then the menu said $3.99 2. I have eaten at hundreds is Indian restaurants. This is the first one where chicken tikka masala was watery and not creamy at all. Food was fresh and full of flavor, spices and salt was not overpowering the flavor of each individual dish. We had Chicken haleem, Chana , Daal, Chicken Sekh kebob, Rice and butter nan. food taste is not bad as long as its freshly cooked. Have been there couple of times with family and it seemed they had food from the previous day. last time we went, me and my wife had stomach ache for couple of days. the leftovers smelled really bad by the time we got home so obviously it was just old food heated and served to us. when complained to the management, they bluntly refuse to admit it was old food. read more

We are so glad that a restaurant with authentic Lahore taste has opened in Bridgeport. Food was so good that We have been there twice within their first week after the opening It is not slap dash like many Indian restaurants-where everything tastes the same. We hope they would continue to keep a sharp focus on taste and authenticity of the dishes. There is a wonderful young girl serving-who always has a great warm welcoming smile and positive vibes. It was good to see that she was so organized and attentive to my family. We have already tried many different dishes in two visits (Biryani, kabab, kheer, Karachi chicken, kofta curry, Nan, Halva Puri). The owner was nice too. Recommend highly. I live in Westport, which is a bit of a schlep from Bridgeport, otherwise I would eat there Four or five times every week. The name of the restaurant is true to its taste and flavor. It is 100% authentic Pakistani food from Lahore. If you don't know what something tastes like, they will be happy to let you taste before you order. I made a quick pit stop here. Their naans, seekh kabab, samosay (potato), and moti choor laddu were good. The food is authentically spicy and is really catered towards the desi crowd. I really hope they can maintain the quality. Although the ambience and décor is pretty basic, the seating area could serve large families. read more
