This place is very popular and was crowded just after 5pm on a Friday night. They have a limited menu selection but are good at what they make. The pizzas we ordered were tasty but not fabulous. As other reviews have said, the pies were greasy, but that is easily resolved with a napkin to sop it up. The ambience is nice, and there are booths in the back. What happened!? My family has ordered here for years on and off. Recently we just ordered and were shocked by the drop in quality. The Sicilian was excessively oily and not nearly as good as it used to be, the quality of the Neapolitan which was once excellent is inconsistent with cheese portions isn't nearly as fresh or tasty as it once was. Salads come with smaller portions of cheese and also is lacking. If I had to guess ownership has changed hands in the last year or so with how much of a change I'm seeing. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. My parents and I came here to take a break from running errands. I've never been here before and my first experience was great. We didn't order anything crazy. This is what we got: - plain pie - house salad - shredded iceberg lettuce topped with tomatoes, celery, peppers, olives, scallions and cucumber - cokes The server was happy to help us and was friendly. The dining area was bright and clean, and the food came out fast. I love that the pie is served on the side so you have room on the table. I also like the simplicity of their menu. I haven't asked for a side of sauce since the debacle but I just wanted to say, the knots aren't trash, they're actually pretty good esp when they add extra oil to the plate so you can dip em. I like Colosseo's Pizza because it's a time machine. You step in the door and travel right back to the 1980's and then you realize the 80s weren't all that great. 40 years later its helpful to make this realization and while the pizza is still pretty good, it's not what it used to be. The biggest issue with the place is that the service is extremely hit or miss and when it's bad, it's terrible- rude and abrasive is an understatement. Yes, there's going to be many five star reviews but most of those reviews are really for the memories of the 80s and 90s. Whatever comfort the step back in time might be, and nothing in the restaurant has changed so it is a real flashback, isn't worth the attitude. read more

There's nothing new that I can add that hasn't been already said. This spot is quite polarizing and people seem to either love it or hate it. I used to hate it, but only because they were cash only. Now that they take CC, it's my go to spot when I'm in the area. The counter staff aren't super friendly but I'm not here to make friends. I'm here for the Sicilian or the grandma. Sausage is sliced and not crumbles and the mushrooms aren't that jarred crap. If you want a regular pie you need to tell them if you want it crispy so they'll make it well done. Seating available in the back if you want a more substantial meal and along the side counter in the front if you're grabbing slices. Is it as good as it was in the 90's when I was a kid? I really don't know because my palate has certainly changed over the last 30 years and I've now had pizza all over the world. My go to pizza spot in Port Ieff. Have had a lot of great pizza in NYC but this place is great for the area. PINWHEEL One of my go tos, esp if you have some marinara on the side and can dip it. Cheesy doughy pinwheel stuffed with ham and pepperoni. Not always the most consistent as sometimes it's a little overdone but when it's good it's great. GRANDMA Great hearty crust, sweet tomato sauce. One of my go tos. Actually next time I'll be trying the one that's similar but with Basil on top. I have a hunch it's even better SPECIAL - essentially the meat lovers and a great way to get your protein in. All the meats topped so much on the slice is hard to lift and that's the way I like it Note their Neapolitan pizza is just regular NY pizza and not Italian style which would have a very delicate thin-thin crust and be smaller size with a pillowy dough. It's ok tho because they have a good product. So that means all their other slices/pies that are listed as Neapolitan style are actually just regular NY pie style. Also their "side of chicken" is not the best option unless you're really hurting for more protein, it was thin and a bit dry. read more

Oh my gosh. While on Long Island visiting from Las Vegas we are getting our fix on the best pizza and working our way around NY! My nieces love Colosseo do I came here to try it out and boy we were not disappointed. You can walk in here and ask them to add anything on there you would like. Love this feature. It was really cool watching everybody work together and the banter, back-and-forth and all good fun. Colosseo Pizza moved into our heart as our favorite neighborhood pizza spot. And we live in another town! My son moved to Boston. When he comes home, Colosseo Pizza is first on his wish list. He came home for Father's Day and we planned to have his favorite pizza for dinner. That's great but guess what? I remember saying Father's Day so "my" favorite pizza is a white pie. And Colosseo Pizza makes the best White Pie IMHO on Long Island. Their White Pizza has the right balance of cheeses and their signature crust makes their White Pizza complete. They have a cooking method which makes their Sicilian crust a little crunchy (which is what I enjoy) My wife enjoys a house salad with pizza so our general take out order: Cheese Pizza, White pizza and a house salad. We've been hitting up Colosseo hard since the lockdown. We drive from another town to bring this home which says a lot about their pizza. Mmmm! Picked up some pizza on a Saturday night. We didn't call it in, so when we arrived we had to wait...but only about 15 mins which isn't bad considering how crowded they were. My friend and I went with a pie with sausage and half peppers. That pie was so damn delicious! HUGE pieces of sausage and peppers. Normally pies with peppers have the ring type peppers, but this pie had huge chunks of peppers. The flavors were phenomenal! Service was also friendly. The guy that took our order greeted us and made nice small talk. The pie cost around $23, which isn't bad at all for one full topping and one half topping. Colosseo has been a staple since 1980 with it's pizza's. On this day, I had the cheesiest cheese slice that reminded me of how pizza was made when I grew up. Unfortunately the undercarriage could not hold up to the sauce that could not escape from the extra cheese on top. This produced a very floppy and messy slice. I believe that most people who would give this a 5 star probably grew up with it. However, we are no longer in the 80's with poofy hair, slim ties, and capezios. The newer pizzaiolos have elevated their game such as L'industrie in Brooklyn. Now many say their sicilian is their must haves, but compared to Prince Street or Scarr's, it has much to learn.
