Stumbled upon this place totally by accident while making the rounds of Vero Beach thrift shops - finding St. Vincent de Paul closed, I decided I needed a donut in which to drown my sorrows. When we got to the drive-thru window we noticed they also had breakfast sandwiches - I tried to order a bagel but was convinced that the croissant was more of a house special, so I went with that, and was handsomely rewarded with a flaky pastry full of bacon, egg and cheese goodness. It's rare that we go to the same place twice on a vacation but we went back here the next day for more croissants, and chocolate and buttermilk donuts - which are fried and sugar-glazed balls of doughy wonder. They even remembered our coffee orders from the day before which was awesome. Would be a regular weekend thing for me if I were local. read more

A Christmas Miracle! My pregnant wife really wanted doughnuts. I located Tasty O Doughnuts on Yelp and drove by for future reference. Lo and behold, the clouds parted and the sun shone down upon a blinking OPEN sign. We thought this was a mistake. The store had just forgotten to turn the sign off, but then a smiling woman (a Christmas Angel) appeared in the the drive thru window! We had two chocolate covered custard filled donuts. A delicious small town treat. This place has been in Vero for over 20 years and has always been a local favorite. The store opens early and the staff is always pleasant and eager to take your order. The inside is set up like the doughnut shops in the 70's with bar seating and a few bench tables off to the side. I tend to shy away from corporate eats, which is what led me to plug this destination into my GPS when my wife and I were in Vero looking for a place to live. We tried the buttermilk cake and cinnamon crunch cake doughnuts. Even at 5:30 A.M. the staff was very pleasant and the coffee hot and fresh. I took my bag of baked goodness and steaming cuppa back to where we were staying the night and goodness was what I found. The plain buttermilk has a nice, light crispness to the exterior and a very tender, not too sweet (just right) interior. The cinnamon crunch, while messy (in a good way) and slightly crunchy on the outside, was even more tender on the inside than the plain buttermilk, yet managed to keep its' shape well. The doughnut base (buttermilk cake, I think) complements well the exterior crunchy sweet goodness. The coffee was good. The overall value was great, the atmosphere very NOT Dunkin'D (more old school donut shoppe - which is exactly what I wanted). I did return to show my wife where our breakfast came from and to get another cuppa before we hit the road. When we move to Vero Beach, while I will try out other doughnut options, I get the distinct feeling that I could be a repeat customer several times over.
