I ordered breakfast yesterday and asked for a cup of hot water and a slice of lemon, I can't drink caffeinated beverages. The last time I was there the ice water had a film on the surface so I didn't want that. When I went to check out The owner charged me $2,40 for the hot water ! I asked why and was told that I used his cup. His lemon slice and he had to bring me the hot water. Have tried this place twice now with the same results. Both visits were during lunch so I can't comment on how they do breakfast. With so many positive reviews I was surprised upon pulling up. The restaurant is located in a rundown strip mall. Inside is better, clean and orderly but nothing special whatsoever. Lunch counter 'ish of sorts. Service was fine, again nothing special. It's the food that is the issue. We had the "loaded" grilled cheese and a chicken pesto melt. The loaded grilled cheese sounded good until it arrived. Maybe 2 slices of cheese on some Italian bread. Looked like something I might make in a hurry by throwing it into the microwave. I can only assume the loaded part was the bread since there was way more of that than any cheese. It was incredibly short on filling. Same for the chicken sandwich my wife got. I kid you not when I say the chicken was a "sprinkle" on the bread. Not a cutlet or anything substantial. My Buddy and I have been trying new places for breakfast every Saturday and the only thing any of them had in common was just ok food and high prices!! Well yesterday we tried the Wood n Spoon on Oslo and what a refreshing surprise! We all had something different and everything was Fantastic!! The food, the waitress, the service and the prices! We always have good lunch from Oslo location. My husband went in for 2 bagels and 2 hasbrowns. Once home, the bagels had been toasted, then nuked! We're supposed to not be either. The hash browns were not fresh and nuked as well. Just hot, greasy and soggy. So for breakfast we will go elsewhere. read more

Place has changed!!!! Service was terrible never offered a refill on our drinks. Left there and went to another coffee shop to get a coffee. No sausage anymore. You better like bacon lol!!! Very limited menu. Won't go back as there are way to many breakfast places that offer a better value and provide good service. I ordered take out from here for the first time ever and loved it. The portion was big and the lamb had great flavor! I put the pick up time for 11:30 and when I got there it was ready to go. I expected the food to be delicious simply because of the appearance of the location. As I looked at the menu the lady at the counter seemed aggravated that I was looking and asking questions. As I strayed to walk out I realized she forgot to pack my soup and had to wait for her to finish with a table to complete my already paid for order I ordered the chicken with sundries tomato and pesto. Strange. It came WITHOUT pesto. Sadly I was already out the door and in the car. Could not turn around AGAIN because the order was not correct I ordered the Reuben for the person I was lunching with. Ummm....I am a New Yorker. So I know my expectations can be high when it comes to deli style sandwiches. Let's call a spade a spade- see the picture....this sandwich was a glorified grilled cheese sandwich. Flat. Soggy. Barely anything in it. Super disappointing. Especially since the sandwich costs the same as if I was not buying a grilled cheese, but an actual pastrami and sour kraut. This was my first visit to the Wood N Spoon. It's my understanding they have two locations and a plethora of regulars. Truth in advertising (or menu selections) is a key to long-term success. Despite a misleading entree' Wood N Spoon has a dedicated following so my critique may well fall on deaf ears. My complaint is simple; eggs benedict is an English muffin, topped with Canadian bacon (the pork loin from the back of the pig), poached egg, and hollandaise sauce which is a simple egg yolk emulsion with lemon. The owner, Mike, apparently likes sliced deli ham and what tastes like a curry-based tarragon laced sauce. His poach was a little longer making the yoke all but hard but I know poach is a tall order, even for three-star Michelin chefs. My dad's Senior Breakfast eggs over easy was good and spot on. The staff is friendly, and the restaurant is clean and organized. I will come back and will try the Royal Palm Point (we're off Tarpon so almost walking distance) and hope for a better meal.. hey, there won't be a benedict on my plate! My hat is off to Mike and his hard work. I know not to order a world-renown favorite in the future. I would ask Mike to rename his benedict creation as eggs benedict brings only one item to mind, not this invention. I've eaten this dish over 100's of times in my nearly 70 years in restaurants from NYC to NOLA, to LA, to Miami. Not once, until today did I experience deli ham as the meat. Great little find! Thanks to flags out front and Yelp I decided to give this place a try. Since i had already had lunch I was really coming in for ice cream. But the owner Mike said they are known for their homemade soups and chili. I tasted the chick soup: AMAZING New english clam chowder: AMAZING Cactus chili: AMAZING. I took some of that home with me! I would rate this zero stars if I could. My husband and I went there a week ago, 5/15/2021. The food wasn't very good, but we didn't want to only base it off of one try. And the waitress that day was sugary sweet and very helpful. I wish I knew her name. We went back today, 5/22/2021. I left there seething with anger. We sat down at about 9:55am, there were probably three other tables. Busier than normal maybe? I don't know. Honestly couldn't tell ya. We sat down, our orders were taken. Two other tables came in and sat next to our table. The table behind us who came in after us were served after about 10 minutes. The table to our right that sat down after us were served after about 15. The table behind us finished eating and LEFT before we ever received an update of any kind! Then the waitress came over (different waitress from the week prior - she was not very nice to begin with). She tells us "sorry for the delay they had to make more hollandaise sauce".... if I know anything, I know for a damn FACT hollandaise sauce does not take 50 minutes to make! FIFTY MINUTES we waited and I'm sitting there growing more and more angry! Then she FINALLY comes with the food and said "don't worry, I took $10 off of your bill." Are you kidding me?! So I told her - "I really think you should comp this meal, we waited nearly an hour and the food was MEDIOCRE AT BEST." She said "I'll take care of it." Then she comes back WITH A BILL and said "I was able to take 50% off of the bill." And left it there for me to look at. Now it wasn't expensive, and I know it wasn't her fault the food was late or that it tasted like shit. I wanted to buy a muffin or something so I could give her a tip, cause I've been a waitress before and I hate to be this person. But when she brought back the check I seriously wanted to flip the table over. I have NEVER been so angry with a restaurant or their staff. So I sat there at the table and contemplated my next move. I walked up to the counter and gave her my check, I looked her right in the face and I said "I'm not paying for this." And my husband and I walked out. Needless to say we won't be returning, not that we would've given them a third chance anyways after the food we received. If you have to wait nearly an hour for your food, it should at least taste good. 0/5, do not recommend. read more

Small, quaint restaurant with great food. I've had breakfast and lunch there. The waffle with strawberries was good but be aware- the strawberries are a compote which can be a little overpowering. For lunch I had an egg salad sandwich and Greek salad which were both delicious. read more

GLUTEN FREE!!! I love going here because I can get any sandwich they make on gluten free bread. They always have gluten free bread, english muffins, and sometimes bagels and wraps. Last week I had gluten free french toast and it was wonderful. I believe you can also get the eggs benedict gf, as well as pancakes and waffles. I haven't personally tried the last 3 mentioned items, but I plan on it soon, and I'm sure they'll be great. They will also be able to tell you which soups of the day are gf, and usually most of them are. The service can be slow, so try to go with enough time to sit and relax. This is not fast food. Everything is made to order and they do the best they can with their small, always friendly staff. read more
