We didn't order anything exciting as my daughter is a "chicken fried rice and sweet 'n sour chicken" girl, but those came out great! And while I typically can't stand S&S chicken for next day leftovers because it's too mushy/soggy, this was not the case with these leftovers!!! My only disappointment was that we were starving upon arrival so I ordered the dumpling appetizer. It came AFTER the mains and a few were burned. That was disappointing. This place was surprisingly good. My expectations were low, if only because of the somewhat presumptive name, but they blew them away. We got a couple of the cold dishes to start (the "melting taste" fish and the cucumbers). The fish was tender and sweet, and the cucumbers were crunchy and we'll dressed. We also ordered their mixed cold noodles, but without the pork (we are pescatarian) and with the hand pulled noodles. The noodles themselves we're pretty tasty and had good texture, but the sauce was only okay. We finished up with their house dumplings (boiled) and the shrimp, chive, and egg dumplings (pan fried). The house dumplings were okay, but the crispy fried chive and egg dumplings were the standout. Would be up for coming back if we're ever in the area again. read more

Every dish was perfection, the protein in each dish was juicy and flavorful, and our waitress was sweet and informative when we asked her about different dishes. My favorite part of each dish was how clean the food was, no dish was overwhelmed by heavy sauces or questionable ingredients. The food is quite good - we ordered pig foot as an appetizer, fish dumplings and beef noodle soup. The foot was adequate - had to remind the waitress to bring a sauce for it, but other than that was OK - although nothing radically different from the left foot of the same pig in another restaurant. The dumplings were juicy and tasted fresh - I understand some reviewers expected more firmness (which is of course a question of taste), but to me, this texture worked quite well. Beef soup we really liked - flavorful, but not too salty, the beef had all the aroma of braising, and the noodles were good - even if I prefer more chewiness, most Chinese restaurants offer a softer version - if anything, this was slightly more al dente than usual - except I would not mind even more. One of the negatives is that they charge for tea. I know there were some lively discussions on WeChat about it, and a lot of anger has been expressed - people would either not go, or not order the tea out of principle, which is what my wife did. Since the owner seems to be reading all reviews, come on guys - firstly, this restaurant is not on the level to be charging for tea, second, this is not the level of tea to be charging for! read more

Great new place. The inside is clean and pleasant. The waiter was very friendly. I ordered the Mongolian chicken rice plate and boy was that an awesome meal. If you are hungry, the rice plate is perfect. Flavor was on point and tasted fresh as can be. Will definitely visit again to try some more menu items. P.S. Saddens me to say this, but I my mother brought me some dinner from Tasty Place for Father's Day and one of the items was Szechuan Beef and I don't know what I got. I can't tell if it's chicken, or something else. But it certainly doesn't taste, feel or seem like beef. It appears to be white on the inside...if that helps anyone in figuring out what this is. It's really too bad because I was really looking forward to this. I got it with chow mein and some pan fried pork and cabbage dumplings. This is a restaurant we can all agree on since hubby likes spicy but kids can't take too much spice. My husband always gets the hot & spicy boiled fish. Solid, authentic Northern Chinese cuisine at affordable and reasonable prices. We definitely over-ordered but we were not disappointed by what we received. Definitely check in to get the shredded potato appetizer--I was impressed with the dressing actually! The House mixed appetizer was also bountiful and flavorful. It included wood ears, cucumbers, shredded bean curd, and more. The dumplings are great either boiled or fried. We ordered four different varieties and I liked them all. I think the shrimp, pork, and chives were one of my favorites. They also have several noodle options and obviously, their hand pulled noodles. I wish the noodles were just a bit more chewy/al dente, but they were still good. The beef noodle soup had a very clear, clean, but flavorful broth. I would order the House noodle soup next time though, had a little bit more of a kick and variety of flavors. read more

We are concerned it will go out of business, like alot of little businesses, so we try to frequent it as much as we can, just like pre-COVID. The dumpling "appetizer" showed up after my pork entree. The dumplings were a bit on the dry side, but otherwise fine. The pork dish was tasty, but I couldn't tell you what it was after the fact. Their website doesn't have their menu online. Only minor irk was it was $20 credit card min. Despite the fact that my meal was $19.30 or so, and tip would have put it over the $20 mark, they wouldn't run the card. So this place was recommended to me by a friend and here are my thoughts on it. 3-3.5 Star. We ordered zha jiang mian , house special noodles, pork elbow, house special mix appetizer, grill fish and chive dumplings, and grill chicken and corn dumplings . Noodles are definitely good plus they make the noodles fresh in house. The grill dumplings are actually pretty good. My fav is the chicken corn. The pork elbow and special mix appetizer is ok. For the flavors on the two noodle dishes are pretty bland. Their spicy oil sauce isn't even spicy at all. On top of that our service wasn't very good. I think our female server must have had a bad morning. Now would I come back. Sure because the noodles and grill dumplings are good. Skin isn't thick at all with juice coming out. It's almost like a juicy potsticker than dumpling. For the noodle soup .. Came here on a Friday night expecting a long wait, but since the staff works efficiently, we didn't have to wait at all. Parking was easy to find too. My boyfriend and I were immediately seated right when we walked in. We did notice more and more people coming in as time passed, but it never seemed like anyone had to wait too long. We ordered the house special salad (seaweed, woodear, tofu skin, cucumber, drenched in a sweet vinegar sauce with chilis), couple's delight, house dumplings in soup, and the house special noodles. Do not ever order their frozen dumplings to go! You never get the dumplings that you order. Brought order back and exchanged the dumplings only to get the wrong dumplings again. Their dumplings are homemade but they do not label them in the ziploc bags. I specifically stated that I did not want the pork and chive dumplings from what they gave me. Had to bring back to exchange only to get all chives in the dumpling! This place is a joke. Not apologetic and probably gave me all chives in spite. This is not your typical Chinese restaurant, with crab rangoon and fortune cookies. This place serves authentic-tasting, hand-made northern Chinese dumplings and noodles, packed with different textures and flavors. And I will be back for more. I've had their pork and chives dumplings; beef and onion dumplings; the pork and cabbage; the house dumplings. Boiled and fried. All fantastic. The tsa jiang mien, with julienned cucumbers ... very close to my mother's, who learned her recipe from a former Nationalist Chinese army cook in the 1950s. And for Father's Day 2019, I ordered a nice piping bowl of beef with pickled fermented cabbage noodle soup ... and I was 10 again, in my grandmother's house in southern Taiwan, listening to that same army cook complain about the weather. Tasty Place is not stir-fried pork with brown sauce and peas and carrots and celery sprinkled with sesame seeds. So, if you're looking for beef and broccoli or General Tso's orange cashew sweet-and-sour lemon chicken or some other Frankensteined and mutated Cantonese thing, please move along, so the rest of us can sit down and eat. read more
