First, the parking: there is metered parking in the street and in the parking lots behind the shops and restaurants on that side of the street. The lots are less expensive and only charges up to 6:00PM. Street parking is slightly more expensive and goes up to 8:00PM. Depending on the time, parking can be several blocks away. We came here during their first week of Grand Opening, and it was chaotic. There was a lot of yelling, like actually yelling between the people in the kitchen cooking. If you're from a quiet household, it would have been very stressful and anxious. Walking by today after a haircut at Salon Muse, we decided to have dinner here to give it another try, and it turned out much better We were greeted pretty quickly by the server, and there were several tables occupied but many tables available. She asked us if we wanted tea or water, and we elected water. She brought the water to us and took our order of Seafood Combo and Bean Curd (tofu) Pot ($18.95), Salt and Pepper Spareribs, and 1 bowl of rice. NOTE: in their window, there is a special menu where certain dishes were $12.95, but she didn't include that when we were seated. I asked for it, she sounded surprised but brought it right away. The spareribs were from that menu, which saved us $3. The spareribs came with a lot of peppers, which I appreciate. A lot of times, the S&P items at Chinese restaurants only have a hint of spiciness, but this dish had ample jalapenos. Plus it was fried a little longer, so it was actually brown (like it looked fried). The clay pot was different than at other restaurants. I'm used to it being savory, but this one was sweet as if it had either Maggie sauce or hoi sin sauce in it. Good but different and not as expected. In Chinese, this clay pot is translated as the Eight Treasure Clay Pot, so it had a bunch of ingredients include shitake mushroom, BBQ pork, chicken, fish, shrimp, and lots of tofu. I loved the amount but wished it was of the savory flavor. I'm glad we came by and would return. For those who knew the original Ming's, they are two very different restaurants. If you are comparing quantity and price, you need to compare to Skydragon, Ng's Cooking, or others, not to the original Ming's. read more

We got here at 12:30 and the place was empty for the hour we were there. No to go orders, no other customers. (Red flag). What happened to this place? It used to be hustling and bustling- that's when I read the reviews. New owners... I ordered the tofu beef and rice. I thought it was salty for my taste. My bf ordered the sweet and sour pork with fried rice lunch menu, and had to pay additional $3 to make it fried rice- that is a turn off. He said it was not tasty. I also ordered the salt and pepper pork chop... out to find the best in bay area- haven't found it. I asked to make it more spicy, but... they just dumped more peppers on top... Really bad customer service. I repeated my order to the lady for to go over the phone. She said yes. Went to go pick it up and she made a big thing about me asking for extra hot sauce. WE JUST PAID $64, and you are surprised that I asked for extra hot sauce? And utensils for to go. It's to go. Working people will go to establishments because they are on lunch. You need to fix your face lady at the counter. Horrible customer service. Mind you the menu online says $48 but she told me it's going to be $58. Fine whatever... Then when we got to work. The dish was incorrect and then when I called in she replied back to me that we changed the menu.. No sorry no nothing. And the food is worse than what it was previously to Mings. Same location, similar name, remodeled, same menu - new ownership, new chef - please don't mistake it for the original Ming's. I was happy to hear that Ming's re-opened, it has been a local favorite for many years, even when the pandemic hit and indoor dining shut down, many people still came for take-out and for party trays. When I heard they re-opened, I immediately wanted to help support the local business. The exterior is the same, the interior has been remodeled. Similar chairs and tables, however the paint and floors have been refreshed. Now the food - I ordered 4 dishes to go - honey walnut prawns, beef broccoli, fried rice, sesame chicken and the Westlake beef soup, with tax, it came out to around $98. Unfortunately, for me the food was mediocre, aside from the large portion of fried rice and a decent amount of beef in the beef broccoli, the taste was not as I remembered, its completely different even though it is Cantonese style as the original Ming's. Although they have the same look and feel, same name, same menu, the food was not the same. Maybe I can give them a try next time, but this was my first impression. read more

Ming's reopened! Hubs and I were walking in downtown San Bruno and saw that they had reopened! The name was the same but the inside was all spruced up so it didn't have that old hole in the wall vibe. We asked if this was the same restaurant as before and they said yes. This was our family's go to spot and the kids had fond memories of meals there as they were growing up. The JUST opened on 2/2/26 and we happened to stroll by on 2/4. Fam was excited so we decided to order a couple of fam favorites to test them out. I called in and ordered Sesame chicken and BBQ pork fried rice. I know, I know, but the kids loved those dishes here. When I walked in to pick up my food, the cashier was calling me to let me know they didn't have BBQ pork fried rice and asked if I wanted to order something else. I didn't have time to wait so I just took the sesame chicken. Sadly the sesame chicken was nothing like it used to be. It was moist but it really tasted like sweet and sour chicken without the pineapple with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. Honestly, I get it, it's their second day being open so it's tough. I just wish they called me earlier to let me know about the fried rice and I would have ordered something else. The "sesame chicken" wasn't bad per se, I gave it a 2 because it was not "Ming's sesame chicken" that we all grew to love. As sesame chicken went, I would prolly give it a 3 but prefer the orange chicken at Panda. We might try some other dishes in the future, but don't go in expecting the old "Ming's". read more

Strike #1: the place was empty Strike #2: the hostess did NOT and does NOT have a command of "Old School SF dining pallet" Strike #3: dishes came out uniquely different from their interpretation of how local homies are used to. I don't want to say that the food didn't taste good, but our expectations just didn't align to what traditional Chinese cuisine. My friends and I came here to try New Ming's after seeing their set menus and it was definitely a good value! The portion sizes are quite large and the $48 set can easily satisfy the appetite of 4-5 people if you add a carb. I believe the owners took over a previous rendition of Ming's but kept the name. The decor inside is definitely outdated. I'm not sure if they kept the previous restaurant's tables and chairs, but those are a bit old as well. Decor and furniture aside, the food is good and service is as to be expected for an authentic Chinese restaurant (not amazing but gets the job done!). They do salt and pepper items really well here so I would definitely recommend ordering one of them if you aren't getting a set menu (which all has a salt and pepper item). Overall, a great value and good food! I hope more people discover this restaurant soon since it's been empty both times that we came. We don't want them to close! read more

Came here for a banquet style meal to celebrate my aunt's birthday. Ming's Restaurant is newly re-opened. It's not a very big place, but they have 3 banquet sized tables on the left side of the restaurant (can fit 10 people each) as well as regular 4 person tables on the right side. We got served a 10 course meal and overall, it was a yummy meal. Started off with some west lake minced beef egg drop soup, which my 3 year old loved. She single handedly polished off almost half the bowl on her own. The rest of the dishes included chicken wings, chow mein, fried fish, pork spareribs, and much more. The spareribs were my favorite - super tender and marinated in a sweet and umami sauce. The staff was quick to bring out anything that we needed throughout our meal. They were also efficient with how they plated the food, removed empty plates, or consolidated the plates to make more room on the table. Overall, we enjoyed our experience here. The one feedback I have is that most of the dishes were on the salty side, so that could have been dialed back a bit. In addition, a couple members of the table thought that some of the chicken wings were just a tad underdone. It's hard to cook in such mass quantities for so many people and have all the food come out at the same time, so I don't really dock them for this. read more

We ate at New Mings a few weeks ago right after they opened. The restaurant is nice, bright and clean. It was refreshing to see the interior so inviting, unlike the last ownership. There are plenty of tables and chairs to accommodate large groups and individual diners. The food was EXCELLENT! Sizes are great for family style dining. We had a group of 16, so we ordered about 13 different items from the menu. We had everything from soup to salt/pepper pork with plenty of leftovers to take home. The service was attentive and very friendly. It was a very pleasant experience in a nice environment. I'd highly recommend New Ming's! read more

They finally opened after being closed for many months. At this time they don't have a full menu so some items are not available. Its technically a soft opening so give them time. The food that I ordered was cooked to perfection. Great flavors and the portions are plenty. The service needs improvement but its all new ownership. Give them time to organize. I was a frequent patron of good old "Ming's" when it was in business... So you could imagine my excitement to try the "New Ming's" when I heard it was open for business... prices are a higher but in line with Chinese American restaurants nearby... Also, apparently the one of biggest renovation of the past year was removing sauce from the orange chicken. I'm not exaggerating -- this was orange chicken in theory....conceptually orange chicken... a philosophical interpretation of orange chicken. The chicken itself was fine, but the sauce must have called out sick that day. I kept looking around the container like maybe it was shy and hiding in a corner. Nope, nada. Dry as a desert. Everything else was okay, but when one of your of main dish shows up like it forgot its main personality trait, it's hard to recover emotionally... I didn't order fried chicken nuggets -- I ordered "orange chicken". With sauce. The sauce is the job. I was too tired to drive back and inquire about the missing suspect... but I'm willing to try again since the place is new and I believe in second chances... but next time I'm checking the box before I leave like I'm auditing a crime scene. My one star rating is for the server being dishonest. 5/16/26 we were a party of 3 people. We ordered their $48 set menu plus added a Fried Rice. Food quality was good and the amount food they give was good. Only issue with this restaurant is the server took it upon herself to enter 20% gratuity onto my credit card when she processed my transaction WIITHOUT letting me know. If I did not look at my credit card slip before filling out the tip line, I would have given her double tip. Got take out and it good was good. The order was ready in 15 minutes on a Thursday evening. I had both old Mings and the new Mings. The portion size seems a bit smaller since old Ming's portions were massive but it is comparable to other Chinese food spots around the area. The recipes are definitely different from the old owners but I enjoyed the new flavors which are a bit more Cantonese vs American style Chinese food. I will definitely come back and recommend it to others. read more

It's a new mings with new staff and new chef. Just re-opened with a facelift where the restaurant is so much brighter and feels roomier. We went in to check it out today, hoping for some nostalgia with peanuts, and fortune cookie and oranges....none of that as yet, though suggestions were given to the new owners! The hard thing about going back to a restaurant you've been familiar with for decades is comparing....and then you have to stop and remember that's not fair. June, the new waitress of only 2 days since the restaurant reopened 2/2, was very friendly and though the restaurant is quiet with sit ins, there were quite a bit of take out orders. The chef comes from the HL Penisula restaurant and though the menu is not too extensive ....yet, it prices were fairly good. You can get a lunch platter at less than $20! The food we had was the salt and pepper pork chop, deep fried flounder and tomato beef crispy fried noodles. They were tasty, hot, and perfectly seasoned. I'll come back! Supporting the local small businesses in the area it's important...sad to see what was a vibrant area in the past be more deserted. Doesn't help to have to pay for parking when the community is already struggling. The To-Go Special Dinner Set from New Ming was honestly a huge disappointment. Since the new chef and new owner took over, the quality has gotten even worse. The portions are small for the price, and the food tasted like it had been sitting around way too long before being packed. the meat was overcooked and bland, and the vegetables were soggy with no flavor. Everything was carelessly thrown into the container, making it look unappetizing right away. It's frustrating to see how much this place has gone downhill--what used to be decent is now just overpriced and low-quality. Definitely won't be coming back. read more

Then they reopened & we jumped to order our fav's, crispy salt & pepper wings& Singapore style noodles.Well I must say the new Mings will never see us again! The portions on the lunch menu were enough to feed at least two if not three people. if my friend and I go there again we will order just one lunch special, split it and still have some to take home. My suggestion for the restaurant would be to cut the portions in half and reduce the price to under $10.00. The service was also very good and prompt.
