I love coming to Tasty Pot because their flavors feel nostalgic and it brings me back to my childhood in Taiwan. I always crave stinky tofu hotpot. Tasty Pot is the only place that has it, and it is so good. If you're not a fan of stinky tofu, don't worry. My friends who don't like it either order their other hotpots (beef, lamb) and rave about them too. You're able to choose whether you want vermicelli or a bowl of rice with your hotpot. If you come on a weekday for lunch, they include a free sweetened black or green tea.

This is my fav tasty pot! Love coming here their broth is so fire. I always get the seafood one with Thai broth and add ramen and quail eggs. Service is also fast and everyone here is nice. We love to celebrate birthdays here as well they always accommodate our large group.

Super cute restaurant tucked in a small shopping center. While it can be tricky to get to with the one way roads it's absolutely worth coming by! Service was fantastic, I wished I had our server's name but he was very excited to hear it was our first time visiting and explained everything perfectly to us. Also explained each sauce available for us to try and have us great recommendations which to use with what in our bowls, Individually preset hot pot like bowls that are set up to perfection. Each bowl was flavored perfectly. The cheesy milk soup was surprisingly much better than I thought it would have been. The broth was absolutely delicious and balanced with the dairy flavor creating a savory soup i would not have normally thought would work. The Japanese miso was perfect with the variety of surf and turf in the pot. My friend and I were both pleasantly surprised each set up had a small flame to keep the soups hot. We were both also caught off guard how big each pot was. We probably could have easily shared a pot and appetizer and be perfectly comfortable.

It's always a great time when I come to tasty pot! I got the veggie soup with the Taiwanese spicy broth and it's always 10 out of 10. Service is great the food is delicious. It's such a hard place to beat. I had just come back from out of town and was in need of hot pot and tasty pot was all I was thinking about. It did not disappoint as expected, it never disappoints!

Always love coming to eat here! Parking is a bit small and cramped, but I always find parking. Sometimes there is a wait to get seated during peak hours but never too long of a line. There is both in door and out door seating. You order on your phone by scanning the QR code on your table. These are individual pots that you can share and add more items onto or eat on your own. Each pot is a decent amount of food per person, but I don't think enough for 2 people unless you do some add ons. The individual pots come out ready to eat in this cool stand to keep the food hot. Typically the fire inside will burn until about halfway through your meal. My personal favorite ones are the beef hot soup and cheesy milk hot soup. Absolutely love the soybean sauce, there's also a chili oil and garlic soy sauce for dipping. For each pot you order, you get an option for a carb: rice or vermicelli. I usually get rice since sometimes there is already some vermicelli in the pot. They also have skewers and boba drinks.

It was raining and super windy, but my sister really wanted Tasty Pot for her birthday, so we went! Workers accommodated our party of 6 very quickly even though it was pretty busy. We ordered 5 pots, and sides and drinks came out fast. Staff was very helpful and efficient, which made everything run smoothly. Food was as good as always. Another birthday & Tasty Pot memory in the books!

I went to Tasty Pot about 30 minutes after they opened, and there were already a good amount of people inside. As soon as you walk in, it smells really good, which immediately made me hungry. Service and ambiance We were greeted right away and sat at a pretty small table. I did think that was a little weird since there were bigger tables open and other parties of two were sitting at larger ones, but it wasn't a huge deal. Ordering is all done through a QR code on your phone. I actually liked this because it didn't feel rushed at all. Even with everything being digital, the servers still came around to check on us and offered to add more broth if we needed it. You also pay up front, so once you're eating, it feels pretty relaxed. Beef hot pot (Taiwanese spicy soup) The soup was really good and super comforting. The portion felt fair for what you're paying, and it came out piping hot and stayed hot the whole time on the flame. The broth had a nice level of spice, not too much, just right. It came with a lot of stuff in it, mushrooms, tofu, taro, beef, corn, clams, fish cake, bean curd, cabbage, and vermicelli noodles. I got rice on the side but barely touched it because the noodles were already filling. The only thing that threw me off was the beef. It tasted fine, but the slices were kind of bunched together, like they cooked too fast in the hot pot. Instead of feeling like separate slices, it felt more like a clump. Not bad, just not ideal. Lasting impressions Overall, it was a really solid lunch and especially nice on a colder day. Warm, filling, and comforting. The small table and beef texture stood out a little, but I'd still come back.

For lunch, you get a free side of rice or noodle AND a free green or black tea. I didn't have high expectations but both drinks exceeded those. Servers here are so kind and attentive. They came by multiple times to refill our water and our broth. They also checked in multiple times in case our pot fire went out or if we needed anything. It was not overly busy that night, but still a full dining room of guests indoors. I got the stinky tofu hot pot. It has some good variety of toppings, all which are precooked before bringing to the table. Everything matches the description on their menu. There is 1 free rice or noodles included aside from the noodles already in the pot. Spice level and different broth can also be chosen when ordering. Order using the QR code! I would like to try other pot flavors the next time I come here.

This is our go-to hotpot spot whenever the weather cools down. We've experimented with the menu, but we always find ourselves coming back to our two absolute favorites: #1 Beef and #9 Taiwanese. You can't go wrong with either. Both are flavorful, consistent, and hit the spot every time. Must have add-on: quail eggs--they are the perfect addition to the broth! Pro-Tip for Service: They give you the option to order via a QR code at the table or wait for a server. Hint: Use your phone! The service is significantly quicker when you submit the order digitally. Even if you order on your phone, the staff is incredibly attentive. You don't need to flag anyone down for refills. They are proactive about coming by to top off your water and broth throughout the meal. Reliable, delicious, and great service. Highly recommend!

First time here having my 2 besties meet and treating them to lunch . As soon as I walked in was greeted by Anthony . He was very friendly and helpful with our questions. I ordered the Taiwanese supreme spicy hot soup spice level mediums and my one bestie ordered the beef hot soup soup no spice and my other bestie ordered the curry flavor hot soup not sure if no spice or mild . We ordered tiger pearl milk with boba, mango green tea and mango black tea with boba. Everything tasted great and a very pleasurable experience with my 2 best friends. Recommend this place even on a hot day like it was .

Wait, I totally stumbled upon Tasty Pot serendipitously!! And I'm so thankful I did. My friends and I were looking for a late-ish restaurant because the place we planned to go to was closed. Thankfully, there are lots of places in Mira Mesa. Tasty Pot is a casual hot pot place, and it's served in individual portions rather than AYCE; it's very convenient because, sometimes, you're just not in the mood for buffet-style. I ordered the Kimchi Dumpling Hot Pot, whereas my friends got the Curry Flavor and the Lamb with a side of skewers. You order using a QR code at your table, and it is very user-friendly. Our food came out shortly after, arriving in sizzling pots encased in decorative trays. There were even little fires underneath, which could be adjusted depending on your preferences. BTW, they can add water to your broth if it starts to evaporate as you're eating. Now, onto the review of the food itself. I really enjoyed my kimchi dumpling hot pot!! There was a huge variety of different toppings, like fish cakes, rice cakes, veggies, seafood, and dumplings. Honestly, I believe that this is a way better deal than malatang. The broth was perfect for a cold night, and it probably helped that we were all starving. If I came back, I would order the curry-flavored broth; I tried my friend's, and it was so savory and delicious!! I was worried it would be thick (which would be weird for hot pot), but it's not at all. Service-wise, the employees were very kind and helpful, even when we made a mistake ordering. You might place the order yourself, but they were always attentive, checking in on us, explaining how the hot pot here is, refilling our waters/broths, etc. Overall, I had a lovely time at Tasty Pot, and I'll definitely be back again!

This place gives me nostalgia, the pots remind me of Taiwan! I come here often, it's comfort food for me. One pot is already really filling, added on with the unlimited broth refills. The beef, lamb, and stinky tofu (could be stinkier!) are all really good. The supreme pot is SUPER filling, and the tendons inside are so soft. Typically, my friends end up having to take 1/2 of the pot for home since they can't finish. It tastes different than places like Yintang that are of Chinese cuisine! Taiwanese cuisine, like Tasty Pot, has a more mild, lighter taste. =) All the staff are also very kind and prompt! 11/10 recommend. Come eat here!! read more

Our family has been here several times and on our first time they took the time to explain the process, super patient and checked on us to make sure we were happy with what we ordered. We came here on a Friday night and were seated immediately. The servers are very kind and attentive. The ambiance is welcoming and the outdoor patio seating is lit up at night. I used to love this store but now I hate it. I was late for just "2 minutes" but they didn't let me dine in. They said the kitchen is already closed at 9:40pm. I arrived at 09:42pm. But when I said I want to order TOGO, they said it's okay. And for me this is bullshit. The kitchen is already closed but they can still accept TO GO Orders. I asked them again if they can let me dine in because there are still people eating, and these people just started to eat when I looked around but their answer still a "NO". Great as always. I believe this is truly a great starting point for someone starting out with hot pot or even experienced pros! Prior to discovering Tasty Pot, I have tried other hot pots and its not as straight forward--maybe I experience decision fatigue and this place takes all of the many decisions away. I've invited my friends here and it seems to be our usual when we are having dinner! The service is top notch! The staff members are extremely attentive and friendly. Been a regular here ever since they opened. Even though many other hot pot restaurants have opened since then, I still crave the soup and sauce here. I usually get the beef pot and it comes with various fish cakes, imitation crab, beef slices, meatballs, vermicelli, tomato, clams, cabbage, corn, taro, tofu, and bean curd skin. You have the choice of getting rice or more vermicelli. The beef pot broth and the orange fermented bean sauce is what makes this extra delicious to me. Wish the beef slices could be more tender and less tough sometimes though. Customer service recently has been very attentive and very friendly. Our water and broths were always filled. One of my favorite places for individual hot pot! Hoping one day they will have AYCE or build your own pot options. read more

This place serves individual hot pots but my daughter & I always share a Spicy Taiwanese Hot Pot. It comes with ramen noodles inside but we also ask for bean thread noodles on the side instead of the rice. The lunch menu includes a free green or black tea. Absolutely perfect for cold rainy days. Once you're seated you can scan a QR code to place your order. Orders come out quickly. Make sure to ask the servers to refill your broth. Came here for a casual hot pot meal and overall had a good experience. The food quality was solid, ingredients seemed fresh, portions were generous, and the pricing felt fair for what you get. I personally don't love the pre-set hot pot format since I prefer customizing my ingredient mix, but that's just a personal preference. That said, the Thai base soup was a great! I do wish they had more dipping sauce options as well since it was fairly limited (3 options provided on the table and I believe onlh 2 additional add-ons for a price). Ambience is casual and comfortable, nothing fancy but clean and easy for a hot pot dinner. Service was okay. While staff was polite, it was a bit difficult to flag someone down for broth and water refills. Overall, a good option if you're in the area, especially if you enjoy pre-set hot pot combos and bold soup bases. The lobster hot pot which I didn't get did seem like pretty great value! read more

I was getting sad thinking I wasn't going to find a decent spot for hot pot in SD but I think this place is great! I've been 2x already for a weekday lunch and it's great because they give you a free green or black tea, which is delicious! The broth and sauces are good, all the things they put in the pot are good (for me) and the workers are all extremely friendly. The value is great as well - I leave feeling full after lunch for ~$23 total for the food, drink, and tip. This will likely be my go to hotpot spot due to the value and taste. read more

This was my first experience having hot pot! I ordered the Japanese miso hot soup since it had a wide variety of food in it, including udon. I also got to pick vermicelli or rice to add in. The meat and broth were really good, but I didn't like some of the things in it like the seaweed and seafood. It was a huge portion though. Shan Xi Magic Kitchen is located in the ultra competitive Convoy Asian District specifically on Convoy Street within the Convoy Village shopping center. The restaurant is next to our fave Asian drink place called Yun Tea, it's next to Olleh KBBQ, next door to Szechuan Chef, and a short walk to BB.Q Chicken. This is a popular strip mall, so it could be challenging for you to find parking. Parking is free for 90 minutes, but you'll have to pay after that time ends. Shan Xi is nice inside with gray brick on their walls, decorative lighting surrounded by rattan, Chinese dolls on a shelf, Chinese inspired figurine art on another wall, and a beautiful curio/screen containing Chinese knick knacks. Seating consists of tables/chairs and a long leather bench. Our servers were friendly, but to me having to order from a QR code is impersonal. I'd rather talk to a person, so that I can ask what they recommend. Plus, if diners aren't familiar with this type of cuisine, I'm sure they would have a bunch of questions. Another employee then stepped in to back him up, making the interaction feel even more uncomfortable. I completely understand how the restaurant business works. I've been around the industry long enough to know that kitchens often stop taking orders before closing or that staff are trying to finish cleaning at the end of the night. If they had simply said, "We're sorry, but our kitchen is already closed," or even, "We can still serve you, but we're finishing up for the night," we would have completely understood. There was no reason to speak to us disrespectfully. What made this experience frustrating is that we never came in with an attitude or demanded special treatment. We were polite from the moment we walked through the door. We simply asked a reasonable question based on the restaurant's posted business hours, and instead of receiving a courteous explanation, we were met with unnecessary hostility. Customer service is just as important as the food. A welcoming attitude can make guests want to return, while a rude interaction can overshadow everything else. I also would not feel comfortable bringing my family or recommending this restaurant to friends because everyone deserves to be treated with basic respect. It wasn't mushy at all--crispy on the outside, perfectly cooked on the inside, and coated in sauce without losing its texture. Every bite had depth and balance, not just saltiness. I actually meant to start with the wings, but the eggplant was so good I ended up eating half of it before even getting to them. By that point I was already getting full, but I still made sure to finish the wings--and I'm honestly excited to take the rest of the eggplant home as leftovers. By the time I got to the wings, I understood why they're popular--crispy, flavorful, and super satisfying--but what stood out to me was how both dishes complemented each other. One rich and layered, the other crisp and bright. I never got tired of eating, which honestly says a lot. I even told the staff how much I enjoyed the food and they thought I was joking, but I meant every word in saying I thought it was comparable, if not better then the food I've had in Chinatown in LA. It was empty coming in around 5:30pm on a Friday, but it soon filled to capacity in the next hour. So coming into it, we thought we would choose between Menu A and Menu B. Afterwards, we thought it was AYCE on the menu of your choice + the side buffet where there are limited selections of sides and refrigerated drinks. We ordered orange chicken, Chinese style fish and something else. Again, this was on the thought that we could order more than one item on our selected menu. So imagine our surprise when the bill was nearly $100 for two people? It was a misunderstanding. However, the initial staff gentlemen was completely rude about it and ignored us as we sought to understand. Finally, a second female server came and heard our concerns regarding the false advertisement and unclear messaging. She was able to provide us the price we thought this was for based on Menu selection. All in all - I don't recommend the AYCE option. I think it would be important to make a distinction that AYCE clearly on the menu and at the front - AYCE means each individual selects ONE entree (which is a one small portion) and the AYCE component of the deal is ONLY for the side buffet.

I don't frequent San Diego, so this was a special occasion for me. I was excited that they were able to accommodate my 8:30 p.m. reservation. In fact, it meant so much to me that I even canceled our sunset cruise so we could enjoy dinner there. We arrived on time and were immediately impressed by the beautiful ambiance. I asked one of the hostesses if it would be possible to be seated on the rooftop because of the beautiful lights everyone raves about. She told me there was a waitlist but promised she would continue checking since it was my birthday. Unfortunately, that's where the experience began to decline. Our waitress greeted us initially, but as the evening went on, we noticed we were receiving very little attention. She only had three tables, all within our view, yet she consistently attended to the other two parties while we were largely ignored. After we finished eating, we sat for over 30 minutes without anyone checking on us or acknowledging that we were ready for our check. To make matters worse, a photographer came through our section taking photos of every table except ours. While that may have been unintentional, combined with everything else that happened, it added to the feeling that we simply didn't matter. Eventually, we asked a concierge to locate our waitress so we could get our check. Fifteen minutes passed, and still no one came. I finally got up myself and walked to the hostess stand to ask for assistance. Only then did a manager come over. I explained how disappointed I was with the service. She apologized and offered complimentary desserts and cocktails, but at that point I had no desire to extend my stay. The issue was never about free food or drinks, it was about how unwelcome we had been made to feel. As a Black woman, that feeling is heartbreaking because you never want to wonder whether you're being treated differently. I can't say with certainty what motivated the treatment we received, but the consistent lack of attention, being overlooked while others around us were served, and how invisible we felt left me questioning whether we truly belonged there. The manager ultimately comped our entire meal, and while I appreciated her taking responsibility financially, no amount of money could erase what should have been a joyful birthday memory. The waitress never returned to our table after the manager became involved. As we left, several staff members stood at the host stand watching us. The manager had promised to bring me her business card but never did. Instead, she simply watched us walk out. I had anticipated an unforgettable birthday dinner for all the right reasons. Instead, it became unforgettable for all the wrong ones. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Born & Raised. Every guest should feel welcomed, valued, and treated with the same level of care and respect. Unfortunately, that was not the experience I had on what was supposed to be a very special night.

We saw the Tasty pot on Convoy was really crowded and decided to give it a try. Then found out there was one closer to our house, the in Mira Mesa. It has a sign saying grand opening so this location must be fairly new. The menu is pretty much all hot pots. One verision or another of a individual servings of Taiwanese hot pots. The pots have soup and various ingredients which come basically precooked from the kitchen to your table but still boiling with a small burner under the pot. I was hoping the menu included some other types of food but there really is none, except macaroons ice cream sandwiches and boba drinks. We had the house special and the seafood hot pots. Both were ok but nothing special, the soup bases were fairly bland. But There are three silver containers of sauces you can dip your food in, soy sauce and garlic, chili oil and Soy bean paste. Warning Be careful with the chili oil, it is extremely hot and spicy. I just barely tasted a few drops and my mouth was on fire. I had to immediately order a Macaroon ice cream sandwich to cool off the heat in my mouth, all before the actual hot pot even showed up. Both locations have a lot of Asian customers so maybe it fits those looking for this type of authentic Taiwanese style hot pot. I like the Japanese miso based hot pots better. Perhaps I will give this place one more try and order the miso hot pot. The Mira Mesa location replaces a Korean tofu house, and it is totally remodeled inside in a modern vibe with big screen tvs and music playing. They also have great parking. I have to say this is my favorite hot pot restaurant!!! I've placed order to go several times, the food was amazing! Today I finally decided to come here and dine in. My friend and I came here on Wednesday night at 7:00pm and it was a little bit less crowded than the Convoy location. We were seated immediately. My friend got a 11, Taiwaneses Supreme, I'd recommend for anyone who can't eat spicy get another pot instead. The Taiwanese Supreme Spicy pot is known for the unique spiciness which my friend and I absolutely love it. The taste just won't be right if you get a mild or non spicy for that pot. And I got a beef hot soup which was amazing!!!! The milk teas, definitely try the Hokkaido Milk Tea and sweet milk with boba! Never forget the Macaron ice cream!!!! The best spot in San Diego for Taiwanese hot pot. I love boiling point in Orange County and this satisfies my craving when I can't make the trip to OC lol. I get the beef, which comes with some seafood too, in medium spice. For my sauce, I mix 3 parts garlic sauce with 1 part chili oil and chili paste. Pour this on your rice and eat it with the soup, and it's chefs kiss!!!!! I also like the convenience of ordering on your phone, and paying up front too because you don't have to deal with waiting to get serviced. If this location was closer to me, I would definitely be eating here more often lol! read more

I ate at this restaurant a lot. I often go to the Claremont mesa one. This is the best place if you want to eat something warm and tasty. My favorites are beef hot soup and sticky tofu hop soup. There are at lot of vegetables in the pot with meat and meatballs. I like it because it's soup based and the tasty is really great!! The dining place is clean and comfortable. I went with a group of friends with high expectation because we heard many good things with this chain franchise. I ordered the Thai hot pot which was supposed to be the large bowl. However, when the hot pot was served, I was disappointed with the portion. It's mainly the stew, not much food inside. My other friend who had stinky tofu hot pot (which is a regular bowl) had more stuff than mine. We mentioned about the portion to the staff and he apologized, but didn't do anything. Craving for tea so ordered their plum juice and it I do not recommend this drink. The syrup they use tasted like medicine. Since I still having my cravings for tea, I decided to order their Hokkaido milk tea. It wasn't what I was expecting. Didn't like that area. Love coming here for their tasty soup. My favorite would be their beef soup and thai soup. I always add extra napa vegetables and love that they add broth for free. They have outdoor dining and recently also opened their indoor. They pack their to go pretty nicely as well. I have noticed the prices have significantly gone up. I always get the 1 Beef, Very Spicy. I eat here at least once a week because I love soup and it tastes to delicious. The service is quick and the servers are nice. I have tried a few other pots but my go to is the number 1. The only thing I would say is that they put a lot of vegetable, like cabbage, in so I ALWAYS get it on the side so I have more room for the broth since I do not eat all of the cabbage they put. read more
