    Double cheese burger
    Anthony M.

This is the spot to get the best double cheese burger in St Louis. Well-seasoned to perfection and made to order. Meat has a spicy taste to it and bread is Texas toast Don't spend $15 on some "gourmet burger "from someplace else only to be totally disappointed. Spend less money on a great burger @ Tasty Treats!!!

One of the perks of working in Brentwood is access to a seemingly endless supply of options for lunch. This often leads me to the the Clayton business district to try out some new trendy fusion Czech-Brazilian vegan grilled cheese and sherbet establishment or something of that ilk. Then are there days when you just want good ole fashioned comfort food, that's where Tasty Treats shines. I have something approaching a love affair with their fried catfish strips. They're seasoned to perfection and have just the right amount of amount of cripsiness. Located in midtown, it's beyond the outter limits of where delivery services will go when I'm at work. Which brings me to the only reason my review is a 4 instead of 5. I tempted fate and decided to have a catfish strip tryst during my hour long Friday lunch. I ordered ahead of time and was told it would be ready within 10-15mins, coinciding perfectly with the 15 minutes it would take me to get there. Upon arrival I waited close to another 20 minutes before my order was ready. The food was delicious as always, but the extra wait makes makes lunch break pick ups a risky proposition. Assuming time is not an issue, Tasty Treats is some of the best carry out in town. I recommend the catfish strips (one of the loves of my life) and the shrimp especially.

I got a catfish sandwich with everything.....tartar sauce, pickles, onion, and hot sauce. It was served on buttered texas toast. I would have preferred regular bread but hey......it was still delicious!

I can destroy a meal but with a satisfied smile on my taste buds has become rare lately.

Service was great at both the counter and the table. I had the Split & Melt which was delicious. Crispy smash patties, gooey cheese, buttery bread. I also opted to add heirloom tomato to it which added a nice brightness to it. My mom ordered the double, which she said was amazing. We ordered a variety of sides to share. The mac and cheese was amazing, the onion rings were flavorful and crispy, and the fries were also very well seasoned and crispy. Overall, everything was a 10/10. Also, I loved that their fountain sodas are Excel sodas. Will definitely be back to try their draft beers and more burgers!

Price: All together, with a dollar tip, I paid $27 and change, which to me is incredibly pricey for counter service. $2 for a dipping sauce is steep, and for a small container. Next time? I'd skip the dipping sauce and homemade lemonade to save $7. I'll be back but not running to pay this much again. The storefront: the direct out front, small parking lot was packed and people were going into the gated lot to find parking. Only one person working the counter when you first walk in which lead to a long line at the dinner rush that seemed to be moving pretty slow. We got in before the rush and got our food quickly after. Staff were kind and very helpful! Fairly clean with the food runners circling tables often to remove trash.

I always do build your own, you fill out the sheet from a pad on the table choosing your ingredients by category. I usually get the beef but last couple times I have ordered chicken but got similar toppings, Spinach, tomato, chipotle aioli, and fried jalapenos on toasted sourdough. Love it! For a small upcharge you can get a salad as a side, I like to do that because I can steal a few of the delicious fries from my companions. The salad is generous, spring mix, red onion, tomato, croutons. It comes with shaved parmesan, but I ask them to leave that off. The champagne vinaigrette is perfect. This is my favorite burger place, but I like that I can get a great chicken sandwich!

It's juicy, delicious, and absolutely lives up to the hype. If you consider yourself a burger connoisseur, you have to stop in and rank it for yourself. The CBGB fries are legit, loaded with grilled onions, chopped bacon, and a house-made beer cheese sauce featuring Busch beer. The deviled egg appetizer is another must. I'm not sure what kind of magic they use because the ingredients are very traditional. Maybe it's the love they put into making them, the cold beer you're drinking when they arrive, or the old-school neighborhood bar you're sitting in. Whatever it is, it works. The worst aspect is the ventilation which needs much work. We came out smelling so greasy and smokey. We seated ourselves and waited a minute for our waitress to assist us. She kept saying she was new, that it was like her second day or something and didn't quite know the menu. She also didn't know how to make a drink, with that being the case why are you allowed to make any cocktails. If you have a limited cocktail menu but an extensive bar selection you would think their cocktail specials were on point. Nooooo. The BF tried a margarita special and it was awful. I tried a special crafted cocktail that was cool that our waitress asked the guy bartending to specially make because she had no clue about what I was talking about. I hate going to a spot where I make drinks better than the bartenders on hand and that's your job. The BF ordered the the garlic burger and I ordered the Korean wings which NEVER came out because our waitress forgot to order them. So I shared food with the BF. The burger was extremely underwhelming, not seasoned at all. How do you specialize in burgers and mess that up. The best item we ate was the fries and the comedy show was good. I love dinner and entertainment. We are burger enthusiast and if this what your restaurant specializes in I expect to be wowed. We saw all the social media hype surrounding this place and were so excited to try them. To find out it was ALL just hype is a real let down. A guy from my running group asked me which way it was, and I was like, "Uh, I think it's that way." A few places on this strip all have similar awnings. I thought I was lucky finding such a good spot. By the time I was done with my run, maybe an hour later, all of Clayton was an absolute ghost town. It makes me wonder what they'd have to put here to get people to visit Clayton during the evening, a 7 Brew? Inside is more along the lines of a bar, with a number of beers on tap and decor that may have been purchased from a Kohl's. I appreciated the way they had the beers on tap written on the wall in ginormous fonts, and I'm sure the elderly are similarly appreciative. Sometimes you ask these waiters what beers they have on tap and they act like they're doing you a favor by listing them. I asked this hillbilly they've got waiting tables at the Syberg's over on Dorsett what beers they have on tap, and he just said they have 30 of them. Uh, thanks? I wonder if he counted them. I went with the 4 Hands Incarnation, which I have at least once a week, because I get it for free. It seemed less "high gravity" than it does when you get it in the tall cans.Hmm... Usually, my move at these burger places is to order a bacon cheeseburger or a specialty burger that has bacon on it. 5 Star had such a burger listed first on their menu, making my choice easy enough. I toyed with the idea of ordering the Green Chile Cheeseburger, but not seriously. I wasn't sure what the green chiles would taste like, and what if they turned out to be gross? The Blue Ribbon Burger comes with bacon, port-braised onions and Gorgonzola cheese, along with LTOP. No, that's not a typo. You get thinly sliced red onions in addition to the port-braised onions. It feels weirdly generous of them, even though they're just onions, and all the fresh toppings are of a seemingly high quality. I was more ambivalent about the toppings specific to the Blue Ribbon Burger. I didn't dislike them, but I was less impressed by them than I would have expected. The bacon was good, but it was in crumbles and I think I would have liked it more if it were in thick, crispy strips. No Diddy. The cheese was either not flavorful enough or in not abundant enough quantity to be much of a factor. The onions, on the other hand, provided a nice flavor kick--less tart than I expected, more along the lines of the onions in a french onion soup. The fries were kinda whatever. They were good, being french fries and all, but not as gourmet as the menu would have you think. And they don't give you very many of them, if you get the regular serving. Weirdly, the regular serving doesn't cost much money, by Brandon-era standards, but the serving-size is decidedly skimpy. Why not just charge a normal amount and give you a normal quantity? Even the large won't exactly break the bank. I went with the small because I just wanted to see what they were like, for the sake of citizen food journalism. You're welcome.

Lynne enjoyed the always delicious Blue Ribbon burger...think gorganzola, bacon and port braised onions (aaahhh, sorry, I may have drooled a bit there).
