Amazing food with rich broth. Lots of options and amazing services. Good vibes and cool ambiance

The service was incredibly quick, I got my ramen in around 5 minutes, and the fried rice a minute after that The ambiance was pretty cool, they had a time playing on the TV as well as a lot of figures along the kitchen ceiling, the wall was painted with a ramen decor and the restroom had themed decor to enter The chicken ramen broth was incredibly creamy, maybe like there was egg yolk mixed in with it? The chicken pieces were perfectly sized, about 2 inch wide circles and not too thick, and they absorbed the flavor of the broth instead of just being bland chicken. I will say for the price I was scared this was gonna be bigger (I don't eat as much) so it is a pro that I could eat most of it but a con with the amount of food you get, honestly though it is really filling this was the only thing I ate from 8 am to 2 pm The chili oil is very nutty, it's only the oil and it does not come with anything else in it, it's not super spicy but again I have a pretty high tolerance Overall I would honestly not come back here if I was here, since I can only eat chicken and not beef or pork I only really have this and the veggie option (I normally don't like veggie options) and the chicken ramen was a bit too creamy for me, maybe it was the lack of spice but I definitely like a creamy chicken ramen from like Marufuku better

If I could give zero stars I would. I always order the Bold MILD, so I know how it's supposed to taste. This time my experience was awful and I'm extremely disappointed. First bowl was way too spicy while my bf's was normal, and we ordered the exact same thing. Sent it back, insult to injury the second one tasted only like water and nothing else. The photos speak for themselves. Staff insisted this is how it's supposed to taste, which made it even worse. I used to love Tatsu, but it's safe to say I will not be returning.

Tatsu is the best and it's my go to ramen place. I've been coming for years and every time I try a different ramen place it just doesn't compare. I keep coming back to Tatsu because the broth is amazing and the bold ramen is my fav!

Quick service and staff was kind enough to accommodate us late in the night just before closing. They are open til 1am which is super convenient for an after hours bite! Inside was clean and plenty of seating. The ramen was flavorful and filling with a generous portion of ramen. Garlic edamame was warm and delish.. can't go wrong here!

Pablo and Jason was great! Had a blast with the food and service from Pablo and Jason! Make sure to ask for Pablo and Jason when you stop by Tatsu by melrose.

Great food. Great service!!!! Love dropping by for a meal. It's my go to for ramen or fried rice in Hollywood

Twas feeling like a cold was coming on so took a new friend of mine to check this place out for the first time and it was a hit! I got the Red Ramen and thoroughly enjoyed it while also enjoying the colorfully painted inside and watching the people out on the patio enjoying the fall temperatures whilst ingesting hot comfort food. Our cusines came out quick and disappeared even quicker so it's a must try if you're around one of their many locations in LA. Get Ra-mened OUT!

Solid go to ramen for me. Pork is tender, soft boiled egg is perfect. Broth rich and indulgent, even with the vegan (hippie) ramen: UMAMI AHOY. Friendly and helpful staff. Chill pop music playing while you slurp your noodles. Furikake fries are good too, especially if you like shoestrings.

Fantastic experience at Tatsu Ramen! The service was excellent, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was outstanding. The ramen tasted authentic, rich, and full of flavor. Everything was fresh and well prepared. I'm super happy with my visit and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!

Not many places in LA are open late these days--late meaning after 10pm, which really isn't late at all--but Tatsu still is! They're usually open until at least 1am, sometimes even 3am, which makes them clutch for a late-night ramen fix. I've been coming here for years, but eating inside again recently made me realize some things have changed. The noodles are different now--thinner--and I'm pretty sure they're no longer hand-rolled fresh on site. They used to have a whole noodle station you could see with stacks of fresh noodz, but that space is gone. Definitely a bummer. Ordering is the same touchscreen system it's always been, but now there are only two screens, and I could've sworn there used to be four. So if it's busy, get ready to wait while people take their sweet time deciding. The broths are still solid, though. My go-to is the Red Ramen bowl--I've never seen that style anywhere else, and it always warms me up. The bowls feel narrower these days, but if you transfer the broth to a to-go container, the portion matches what it's always been, so maybe it's just a visual trick. One thing I really miss: they used to have seaweed and garlic on every table for you to add as much as you liked. That's gone now (probably a COVID-era change), and the experience isn't the same without it. Also, this place can get loud. Every time someone pulls a chair out, it scrapes across the floor, and you'll hear it over and over again during your meal. Overall, still a reliable ramen spot--especially because they're open late when others aren't. But one note: a server mentioned they'll give you 40% off your next order if you leave a 4-5 star Yelp review. Honestly, that feels pretty unethical.

    Do they accept cash?

    Unfortunately, we do not.

Do they have gluten free noodles?

Yes, we do. Our noodles and broth are gluten-options.

Is there any outdoor seating? Just passing through but have the dog.

Yes, we do. We allow dogs.

What's the best way to contact the restaurant ? The number on here always hangs up

Do you allow diners to bring in beer or wine?

We do not. We do not have a liquor license.

I don't think so but things are a changing everyday

I'm gluten intolerant. What are my ramen options?

A lot but it's totally worth it. Best ramen in LA for sure

    Do they use MSG?

They do but only for some. Most places use MSG to obtain the umami flavor that most ramen is known for.

That's the mood that pulled me into Maruya in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. I ordered the chashu tonkotsu, the classic go-to when you want to judge a ramen shop by its bones. And the verdict? It was... fine. Not bad, not memorable -- just okay. The kind of bowl that doesn't offend you but doesn't linger in your memory either. No standout richness in the broth, no chashu slice that made me pause mid-bite. Just noodles, doing their job. This is actually the second ramen spot I've tried in Little Tokyo, and I'll admit -- I'm starting to feel a little underwhelmed by the neighborhood's ramen scene so far. For a pocket of the city with so much culinary history packed into a few blocks, I expected to be a bit more wowed by now. Two tries in, and I'm still searching for that bowl that stops me in my tracks. What did stand out, though, was the service. The staff at Maruya were genuinely warm and helpful -- attentive without hovering, quick to check in, the kind of hospitality that makes you want to root for the place even when the food doesn't quite deliver. It's the kind of detail that softens an otherwise middling meal. So, Little Tokyo ramen crawl: two down, verdict still out. The people have been great. The noodles? I'm still waiting to be impressed. I ordered the spicy tonkotsu and loved the flavor, especially the chashu. I'm usually a pork belly person, but the chashu was so flavorful that I genuinely think I'll start choosing it instead from now on. Everything came out piping hot, which normally sounds like a compliment, but it was almost too hot to comfortably eat. Weirdly, we actually enjoyed the leftovers even more reheated at home. I do wish I'd tried the thicker noodles, but paying an extra $3 just to switch noodle styles felt a little ridiculous. We also tried the gyoza, which were good, but I wish they had come with a more traditional soy-based dipping sauce instead of already being dressed in chili oil. I'd definitely come back, especially to try the dipping ramen. I'd never had tsukemen before, and it sounded so good that I was already regretting not ordering it by the end of the meal.
