I was honestly pretty disappointed in this place.. came here to grab lunch to go and ordered the Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll and Ex-Girlfriend Roll. The spicy tuna roll was truly the bare minimum they could do. The crunch just had what looked like panko flakes straight from the bag thrown straight on, not seasoned or toasted in any way or wrapped into the roll. They kept falling straight off the sushi. The ex-girlfriend roll was honestly disgusting which is shocking because I love sushi and have never called any roll disgusting. The flavor combo/lack of flavor just didn't work here and the roll was massive (I guess to compensate for the lack of rice). The texture of the roll just was so not it. Also, they gave a few different sauce options that just did not blend well with any of the rolls. I ended up just using the standard soy sauce and wasabi. They have a pretty large menu so giving them the benefit of the doubt (not a 1 star) that maybe I just didn't order the right items. Given how many good asian/sushi places there are in LA though, I probably won't be coming back here. read more

They're under new management, and the service has become comically awful. I placed a Postmates order, which I have frequently done in the past. It was a Sunday night. I live about 5 minutes away from Kiku and have for years. My order showed up over an hour later....My Postmates driver kept apologizing, but I knew it wasn't him fault. He told me they kept telling him "5 minutes", but he had been waiting for almost half an hour. I called the restaurant TWICE and asked what the issue was. First time, the waitress told me that the food was ready, and it was being bagged and given to my driver. 10 more minutes go by....nothing. I call again. A man answers with an annoyed tone. I ask about my order. He sternly says "it will be ready soon, 5 minutes". I say "I ordered my food an hour ago". He said "it'll be ready soon" and then hung up on me???? LOL WILD customer service. Good job, guys. Bummer they have new management. I won't be eating there again, and I've been a customer for 20 years. read more

Larchmont village is a fun little enclave of high-end shops, and restaurants for the finicky types. One of the two sushi restaurants in the area is Kiku. Love this place for many reasons... Outdoor seating on an early fall evening is just so pleasant. Service is attentive and helpful. Food was delicious. Our overall favorite was the universal roll but the best the two were delicious as well. The Mexican gone wild was very unique and I would order that every time. We guzzled down two bottles of sake and I secretly wanted to steal the sake cups. So cute. For the price, I should have. Two for dinner with three rolls and two bottles of sake was $116 out the door with tax and tip. read more

This little locally owned restaurant has comfortable indoor and outdoor seating, fast and attentive staff, and a very big menu. It's one of the spots where you can still write in your order on the paper slip with a pen that has a plastic spoon taped to it. It feels like home. It's a strong 4.5 for me. Started with courtesy edamame and soup which was delicious.. Yellow tail roll, salmon roll, dragon roll was all fire. The o-toro was just ok to me which is why I knock half a point since it's $38 for a 5 piece of sashimi. Coulda been better quality and cut better. Also the crispy rice spicy tuna wasn't my favorite either but not bad. I say you can't really go wrong with most of their classic rolls and speciality rolls, Topped off with a large sake, twas a delicious Mother's Day meal with the wife and kid. Total bill was $130. Service was on point, very attentive, friendly and patient. We opted to sit outside but the inside although small has a quaint charm to it. I was digging the vibe. If you don't know, this is towards the northern end of the Larchmont strip that features a lot of hip vibrant restaurants and shops. There's a little street parking but the garage next to CVS and others are convenient inexpensive options. I recommend browsing around the rest of the area while you're there. read more

I was in the area to meet a friend for lunch and our original plan was to dine at Great White, however there was a longer wait for a spot to open up when we were strapped on time. She had recommended Kiku Sushi as its been a go-to spot for her and her b/f. I enjoyed my lunch special and thought it was set at a decent price for what I got! It really wasn't bad at all. I wouldn't mind coming back here as an option. The staff was super friendly. We dined at a table outside which was fine, except there were little things from the tree above that would fall down. The food does seem pricey, but after seeing the size of the dishes, the price seems reasonable. My feedback is the Superman burrito came with too much imitation crab, and I personally am not a fan of imitation crab. The service of the place was good! My wife and I came to have a nice dinner in a Wednesday night. We were asked to originally sit outside due to a large party that was coming that was taking up the entire indoor seating. We were totally okay with that, but we asked if we could sit in a more comfortable table, the one the pointed out was very crammed and we wanted some space. They were reluctant but allowed us to sit at our table of choice. We placed our order, but the waiter was distracted or just didn't care to serve us. I observed how he interacted with the other folks sitting around us, granted we were the only non white people there. My wife ordered a hot tea and had to ask for sweetener three times before they brought it to her. They seem to be more and more bothered with our request every time, but they kept "forgetting" to bring us what we needed. As we sat chatting waiting for our food we noticed that the tables around us were being turned over and serviced and all their food was coming out before ours. We had to ask again if our food was coming. It appeared that they forgot to put in our order. Slowly and very much after the tables next to us received their food, our order started to come out. The waiter did apologized and offered to bring my wife more hot water for her tea, but of course it never came. We will not return. It's hard to tell if it's because a queer brown person came into their restaurant or they simply did not care to serve the non- white person sitting at their table. While all the other folks around us were being served and attended to, we were left to wait and feel very uncomfortable and almost like our questions were bothering them. read more

The included complimentary edamame and miso soup with every meal, extremely attentive service, and of course, delicious sushi every time. It came with miso soup, rice, salad, 2 piece spicy tuna and 2 piece California roll. Such a a great deal. And the salad dressing was tasty! I like how their green tea complimented what I had tasted. After my first visit to Kiku Sushi, I must say I am hard on myself for not coming to this restaurant sooner. Kiku Sushi is one of the best sushi spot at the price point that it is at. This place is small but have set up outdoor tables, a few on the sidewalk and a few more in small patio-like area built on the parking spaces. The staff is incredibly friendly and checked on us periodically. They have nigiri, sashimi and some fun rolls. We ordered yellow tail and fatty tuna sashimi and it was presented to us beautifully. The fish practically melted in my mouth. I ordered the firecracker roll with spicy scallop and spicy tuna. It had a nice kick to it and was mad nicely (my pictures do no justice.) The agadashi tofu was served in generous portions and was full of flavor. Tofu was lightly fried but had a nice crispy texture. I plan on coming back to Kiku to try more on the menu. Overall, you get super high quality, fresh and beautifully presented sushi at an affordable price. read more
