The server was very helpful as it was my first time here. She explained the menu and how to order and even made a few suggestions. I settled on the breakfast sandwich and a flat white. The coffee was good, I thought a little too much milk but it was good. The sandwich was eggs and bacon and was delicious. The bacon was thick and hearty with a smokey flavor. The place seemed ready trendy and I'm not sure of parking since I walked. Good over experience.

It's Tatte. I like Tatte cafes a lot -- the decor and atmosphere is nice, they have a large and tasty menu, and the prices are ok since the quality is better than other cafes. I visited on a very cold and windy Saturday afternoon and the place was busy, maybe 3/4 full. I got the Lamb Shakshouka ($16) -- my go-to order -- which was delicious, like I remember it. It comes with 3 large pieces of bread for dipping, plus a stew of eggs, lamb meatballs, tomato, and peppadew peppers. Tip: get it to go, even if you are eating it there, because you will probably have leftovers. I also got the Pistachio Croissant ($5.25). The croissant filled with some pistachio paste and topped with pistachios, but I could have used more paste inside. My companion got a Flat White ($5.40), it was fine. Also an Egg in the Hole with Ham & Cheese ($14). The Egg in the Hole had two fried eggs, ham, cheddar cheese, and chopped salad with a sesame Jerusalem bagel. This was our first time having this and we both liked it a lot. The bagel by itself was a bit sweet, but it was balanced out by the savoriness of the rest of the dish. Definitely compose your bites to get a little of everything. I minor service comment: we happened to sit next to the kitchen and I asked the store manager there for a fork (since I didn't get one with my shakshouka). He gave me one, along with a few sentences about the self serve station on the other side of the restaurant (not in view). I just needed a fork, not a lecture. And the store layout means you might never walk by the self-serve station.

Tatte is a solid go-to for a chain coffee shop that still feels not fully commercialized. The line can get long, but the cashiers are efficient, so don't let it scare you off. You should expect to wait a bit for your coffee and food once you've ordered, but the staff is great about bringing everything directly to your table so you can just relax. Their shakshuka is filling, seasoned perfectly, and comes with two poached eggs and feta cheese on top. Their tea options are okay, their coffee is much better, and the house latte is a must-try if you like a little bit of spice in your drink. The sandwiches and pastries are also consistently good across the board. It's usually pretty crowded inside, so if you're lucky enough to snag a table, definitely stay and enjoy the atmosphere. However, if it's too packed, I recommend heading across the street to the left to the National Landing area to enjoy your coffee outside!

Came back here a second time to order food to go so we can have a lazy morning. I am sorry I did not add photos because we ordered the same sandwiches as a few days prior. ... and we demolished these as soon as I got back to the room. However we got different desserts!! It was hustling for a Monday morning and holiday morning. I did not have my cochlear implants with me so I can't hear anything. I didn't know you could order online but I'm pretty good with ordering the old fashioned way. Anyway, I typed my order in my notes on my phone and explained to the cashier that I can't hear. He was super kind about it, and took my phone to read my order and plug it in. He pointed to where I could dress up my iced coffee and grab utensils and napkins to go. He somehow informed the cooks who were making our sandwiches that I can't hear, so while I was waiting a little away from the crowd, they came up to me, made sure I could read their lips but also showed me the order receipt to confirm that it was me. Thanks y'all for being deaf friendly! Got back to the room and it was as heavenly as the first day, that we had it. He with the breakfast sandwich and me with the croissant sandwich. I ordered a strawberry turnover, almond croissant, morning bun and the cinnamon pecan rose. I ate my morning bun and it was delicious. He had the other three through out the day. He doesn't say no to sweets. Wish there was one of these in Buffalo.

Hands down one of my favorite coffee and bakery shops. I always have to stop here when I'm on these coast. I've never had a bad experience, great food atmosphere and staff.

My favorite, treat Big windows, classic ice cream shop ambiance. High chairs at the bar. High ceilings, ceiling fans, pastel green walls. Fun for the family or me! The counter person didn't have a smile but the visit wasn't spoiled. So many choices in the case and pre-made options but I chose a brownie. It was fresh, moist, the right amount of sweet and ready to be be enjoyed, as I did!

Very nice baked stuff, good service, and exceptional ambiance. Such twee displays! My friend and I were initially confused about clearing our own tables, but then figured out we could leave the dishes. She spent some time wiping down the table when we arrived because it was not beautifully clean. I would still visit again.

One of my favorite places in DC! Wish we had these on the west coast, lots of great food options, always super busy but they are very quick and friendly. Look forward to stopping by every time I'm in town.

I strolled down to Tatte for a pastry and matcha latte before my work conference started. The cutest bakery ever!!! I wish we had a Tatte where I live. I wish I could have stayed and ate a breakfast sandwich, they looked so good but I didn't have time. So I grabbed a pastry and a hot matcha latte. I hope they make a better coffee than they do matcha latte. It had way too much milk and enough matcha. The pastry on the other hand was fantastic. I wish I would have bought a croissant for the next morning.

Pour your own large matcha latte.

I was walking by and saw the very pretty pastries and a green drink that several folks were enjoying. It looked so yummy in the large china cup with saucer and the pretty milk design in the foamy green drink. I asked someone what the drink was and was told to order the matcha latte. I ordered from the cashier (who was checking things on their phone) and decided to get the large so I could sit in the cafe for a bit and enjoy the ambiance. My friend ordered a small cappuccino. Drinks arrived with hers in a nice china cup and saucer and mine in a To go cup with lid clearly printed on the sticker was "dine in". I thought at first they thought I had ordered to go but no I had ordered correctly. I asked the nice gentleman who brought it why it was in a to go cup and he said he could have them re make it to dine in. A minute later he brought me an empty china cup and saucer with my to go cup and told me the large size only comes in to go cups but I could pour it in the mug. It sounded odd to me but I knew he was just the messenger so I went to the barista counter to ask. I explained I had ordered the matcha latte drink based on how it was such a pretty looking drink. I was told that Tatte does not have any china cups in a larger size and they are served in lidded to go cups. He said they probably "should " let you know when you order but didn't sound like he thought it was a big deal. So just letting you know if you order any of the large hot drinks and plan to see the nice design on top in a nice china cup it isn't happening. I'm glad restaurants don't serve my entree in a to go box if the plate was too small for my entree. Baffled why they don't have the right size cups for a standard menu item and more baffled by the response. I admit it is not a huge deal but definitely a disappointment and the whole point I came in and ordered the drink to begin with was the presentation.

    Chicken Salad Sandwich
    Tina I.

I couldn't decide so I got both and they were amazing! The staff was super sweet and on point there was originally no more chicken salad in the container upfront, and the cashier ended up going back in the kitchen and having more made for us! The ambience was super clean. The merch was displayed nicely. This will definitely be my place of choice for lunch!

An OK experience at this Tatte location in Crystal City, VA. It is conveniently located in a food district with a demographic that can appreciate coffee, fresh food options, and baked goods. Tatte seems to be aggressively taking up space, strategically, in locations in DC and Northern Virginia. This location in Crystal City being no different. The quality of the baked goods and coffee is to be expected. Good, but I wouldn't necessarily crave it. The customer service is OK. I do appreciate the story of this chain which starts from humble beginnings. Certainly this chain is a good option for lunch, fresh dishes, small plates, baked goods, and coffee. The perfect stop before work or a thoughtful date night. Overall, an OK experience and I will try again when in the area.

With an impressively high Yelp rating, I was disappointed to hear the new owners say the glowing reviews are from the previous owner (though I respect the honesty). Despite that, we really enjoyed our visit. The new owners live up to the legacy. First of all, the service is excellent. An older man makes the food and who I assume is his daughter takes the orders. Both are kind. At the end, she gave my daughter a granola bar for free. The menu is a mix of Korean food and the small market in the back sells Korean products and more. It's very fun to browse and pick up some snacks and treats. My daughter loved the juicy grape fruit snacks. To eat, we ordered the Japanese curry and milk tea. Both were full of flavor and made with love. "This is my new favorite meal of all time," said my daughter. She devoured the bowl herself! There's a small parking lot in front of the cafe. It's within walking distance from the Crystal City Metro.

Who knew that there would be a cafe in Pentagon City with this option? The interior is a bit cramped with many cardboard boxes piling up. We were able to order the food at the counter and waited about 5-10 minutes before the food was ready. BRAISED PORK OVER RICE (卤肉饭) - 15.49 Lots of rice, more rice than I could finish with the amount of braised pork belly they give. The pork was very fatty, which made it tasty and juicy, but it wasn't very saucy. There were two halves of a bokchoy and half of an incredibly boiled egg, which was meh. Still, I finished all the toppings and maybe a little less than half of the rice. I was full, but $15.49 for the food was not worth it. Overall, 3.5/5 but bump it to a 4/5 since there's a scarcity of food like this in the area. They sell other comfort Asian dishes too, like coconut chicken cutlet rice and Japanese eel rice.

The inside of this location was very clean with bright lighting. The barista was helpful and kind. There was only one person working (making coffee and handling payment). I would recommend atleast 2 people to be working since I saw the line get much longer after I was served. I made my way to the lobby where there is plenty of seating. My latte was good and gave me the pep I needed for the day. The blueberry muffin was very disappointing. It was really cold, almost as if it had just came out of a refrigerator. I wouldn't mind a room temperature muffin but I did not like it cold. Also, there was only about 5 blueberries throughout the whole muffin. I don't think this should constitute as a blueberry muffin. And the last time I had a café con leche was at a Dunkin' Donuts near Palm Beach around a decade ago. I'm not kidding. I was so amused that they offered these at a drive-thru window and my commercialized DD version wasn't bad. But, as I've traveled, my best option for a getting something close to a café con leche is just to request one, know that it won't be exact but/and keep your fingers crossed. Or - at least - order a café au lait. I'm no coffee snob so feel free to comment here. Wiki taught me that café con leches are made with scalded milk vs. steamed. And sugar cane is used in the grounds or the brew. This actual café con leche - at Crystal City's Colada Shop - is somehow the most authentic café con leche which I could reference drinking, in awhile now. I mean, I have had a few around Florida cafes, awhile back. At the Colada Shop register, you can order a regular café con leche or a 'sweeter' version. Hmmm ... how blessedly simple vs. and the mounds of adjectives I myself use when at a Starby's. I was assured that the sweeter version she offered was more gentle than it sounded, and she was correct. My steaming Cuban coffee was strong and not overpoweringly sweet. Like, I was relieved that I had ordered it sweet because otherwise I might have not been woman enough to drink it. The flavors of this beverage were complex. Rich and deeply smoky. This coffee was not like a Vietnamese coffee with a strong French roast and sweet cream. These flavors were more like - I don't have the culinary knowledge to say - like a deep, strong Cuban brew. I know that probably doesn't help. I enjoyed the beautiful, bright colors, the music and sips of my lovely and seriously respectable coffee, to go, here. The service was excellent. Each of the three team members I spoke with were all friendly and helpful. I liked my coffee and especially appreciated being able to find an establishment which markets and serves café con leches, Cuban-style. When I asked the Colada Shop employee what the most popular hot drinks were here, she said - obviously - its namesake Café con Leche, and secondly, the Carrot Cake con Leche coffee drink. Yes, please. She said the Dulce de Leche coffee is the third most popular drink here and her description of it as fabulous with the caramel and steamed milk. Well, there are at least two reasons to go back to the Colada Shop at Crystal City!
