In the middle of that Olde Towne on the harbor, Boston, we stopped for a brief respite from the city. (Apr 2026). We wanted just a touch of tea, and happened one of the locations of Tatte Bakery & Cafe, the one on Summer Street near the Financial District. It's a rather large bright modern corner spot with huge windows facing both Summer and High streets. I am guessing around 25 seats at tables, another dozen or so at the coffee bars, more at a counter along the window. There were bright spring flowers outside, around 20 seats at tables, and maybe 10 Adirondack chairs. We got a simple black tea, with sugar and milk, and noticed that the tea is in more of an open-mesh net than a finely-woven tea bag. The tea was strong and rich with no bitterness. For a bit of lunch, we can't resist a traditional shakshuka. They say it's "North African" style: poached in a rich tomato sauce with bell peppers and onions, flavored with cumin and lightly spiced with chili. Lovely, dense, and satisfying. They have so many fresh pastries, we could not resist a creamy-textured halva muffin. A perfectly pleasant deIght to finish our tea. Tatte grew from a Boston farmers' markets to have many locations around Boston, and as far as Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC! We'll certainly keep an eye open in Annapolis and Rockville! read more

On a very cold morning in Boston, my wife and I were looking for a quick, healthy bite to eat before heading to Downtown Crossing for some shopping. We settled on Tatte Bakery & Café, and I'm glad we did. We both ordered the oatmeal--which might sound boring, but it was anything but. The overnight oats were topped with fresh blueberries, orange blossom honey-soaked dried apricots, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, and sunflower seeds. This Tatte is conveniently located, especially for those working in the financial district. A short walk from South Station. Plenty of seating room inside and the service is good. I have not usually ordered food at this location but my beverage has always been tasty. Tatte gives you a number to put on your table after you order, and someone will find you and bring you your coffee. It works pretty well. I also appreciate that they serve in china for more of a sustainable practice (unless you want a to go, where then you can of course get a paper cup with lid). If you were to order food, they have a good selection of croissants/pastries. They look delicious (they are displayed in the window). There is a lot of natural light flowing in here and that makes for a nice ambiance. I'd recommend Tatte but just be prepared that this won't be the cheapest coffee you buy... but the location and ambiance makes up for that as this is a fun place to grab on with a friend or coworker. read more

I've been to multiple Tatte Bakery & Cafe locations and every single one has been cozy, inviting, and full of charm! We got the short rib grilled cheese which was delicious! Their housemade challah really hit the spot. It was just so light and crunchy. Also had the Chicken Pita which was beyond what I expected. Every bite was flavorful, balanced, and it was not heavy at all. Every single ingredient in there was just lovely and the bread itself was something I could definitely eat all day! Also had their red lentil soup paired with bread and wow! Just wow! It was a cold day and I just wanted soup but this soup really hit the park. Our favorite breakfast while in Boston. Everything on the menu and in the display case looked amazing making it difficult to decide but we ended with: Shakshuka: delish, nice spicy sauce, eggs were runny and the challah perfect to scoop it all up. Pastries: Kouign-Amann, cherry and almond scone, strawberry turnover, Jerusalem bagel, and halva chocolate cookie. All amazing, particularly the Kouign-Amann and the halva cookie. I had to have the tahini pumpkin latte; I normally don't care for these drinks as I find them overly sweet but this one wasn't too sugary and was really nice. This is one of so many Tatte's in the city, I stumbled upon it while waiting for my Amtrak at South Station a mere 2 minutes across the street. Nice sitting area, a few outdoor tables. Inside is spacious and clean. The choices of both beverages and food (pastries, sandwich's, soup, salads etc) is vast and enticing. Beats waiting in the station, that's for sure. Beautiful and popular place for a lot of business meetings happen at! haha. This was the first location I went to meet with my first set of brokers. The interior is beautiful and can def get overpacked - not just for the scenary but for all the bakery goodies and breakfast that they present - oh, and can't forget about their coffee too! It's the kind of service where you put your order in at the check out area, and if you're eating there, they'll hand you a number to put at your table. I usually get nervous when I have meetings so I only started out on their Chai Tea Latte. It was hot for a bit but def hit the spot once I was able to drink it in gulps haha. The staff were super friendly and were quick to get our orders. So...after all the meetings that day, we ended up going back to grab some pastries to bring back to our hotel. We may have gone a little overboard with the ordering because....we couldn't help our sweet tooth haha. And this is AFTER all them fresh baked goodies were sold out. I ended up bring home the leftovers back to RVA so that my hubby and kids could have a taste of Boston pastries. The most popular, obviously, was the brownie and the oatmeal cookie with my boys haha. I was super excited to try this place after seeing it on multiple "must go" Tiktoks and posts when in Boston. I was kinda let down though, but maybe I just need to try again! I think this was the best out of all of the things i got - matcha latte: meh, i shouldve gotten the latte they are most known for - chocolate croissant: it was good.. but i asked the person at the counter to recommend their best pastries and she said "Ummm... idk chocolate croissant?" Went in the early afternoon and the pain au chocolate was so incredibly cold. The chocolate was just hard and solid inside the same hard and solid breading. The mint lemonade was good. There are multiple of these around Boston and for good reason - it is so good!! The location we went to had a beautiful interior and so much seating. Their menu includes actual food, pastries, and delicious coffees/drinks. Artichoke and feta quiche and salad: artichoke, caramelized onions, sweet peas, roasted garlic, feta, and dill. Served w mixed greens. The quiche is pea and dill heavy - so if you aren't a fan of dill or peas, this is not for you. I personally thought that the dill flavor was overwhelming and you couldn't taste anything else. I loved the greens on the side though. Would probably get the other quiche instead if I were to try again. Corn and spinach Shakshuka: corn cream sauce, baby spinach, zucchini, and eggs topped with heirloom cherry tomatoes, feta, zhoug, Aleppo oil, red onion, and parsley. Served with house made sourdough. This was amazing, but I also love corn lol. It was almost like a corn chowder - slightly sweet which was really nice. The tomatoes, onion, and the zhoug really complimented the dish and added an acidic and refreshing taste to it. The only complaint I had was that there wasn't enough bread to dip! It came with four pieces but I think there should be at least 6 Pistachio croissant: while the croissant itself was standard, the pistachio filling was amazing. Black sesame latte: house made black sesame syrup w espresso. A little underwhelming but still pretty good! Pistachio latte: house made pistachio latte with espresso. Tatte (tah-tay) is a classic boston stop. So yummy and lots of locations all around. Also side opinion but similar to bridgerton i feel like boston should be nicknamed the Ton. Got the pear juice, pistachio croissant, pear tart, cookie, apricot danish. Only ate the pistachio croissant and bringing the rest home for friends! House latte was also on the sweeter side and had the sweetness of a chai latte Pear juice was v yummy and sweet. Pistachio croissant was drier/not as crisp as I hoped but still yummy! I'm from New York and I wish that they had this bakery in New York. I would actually travel to Boston to get this again. The drinks were so good. The food was so good. The options on the menu was so versatile and all the baked goods looked absolutely amazing and they were fresh because I saw them coming from the kitchen and into the bakery glassware. The service was super fast me and my friends actually ordered a bunch of food and drinks to go so you go up to order and then they give you a number and you just wait for your food and drink. They had a long line, but we did not wait too long because they really hustled through the line with urgency. I got the smoked salmon breakfast sandwich and it was so good. I am a tatte fan and always make it a stop when I'm in Boston. I've had many items from there and have never once been disappointed. My favorites are the tomato and goat cheese toast and the croque madame. I also love their iced vanilla chai. The inside of every location is pretty much the same vibe and the service is always excellent any time I have gone. The inside is clean and smells delicious. Tatte is a beautiful cafe environment in downtown Boston with a great variety of options for breakfast or your sweet tooth. I stopped by a couple mornings on my way to work meetings in the area and had the Sausage Breakfast Sandwich - which was incredible! The flavor of the sausage was great, and it was just what I wanted to get started for the day. I ordered online, so didn't interact with any workers there, but the online ordering and pick up was easy and it was ready when I got there. The pear tart was not too sweet and was not dry at all. It was so fresh and fragrant. The place has tables of all sizes. I love the decor and vibe here. The pistachio added a nice nuttiness to it. Kouign Amann - very flakey and buttery. It's a little different than other kouign amanns I've had. This one felt a little dry. Almost nine months of working in the Financial District, going to Tatte more times than I care to admit, and I STILL haven't written a review?! I have no excuse, believe me I tried. I did go for a cappuccino once, I think, and I have no complaints other than a slight wait. However for the other probably 50 times it was a pastry. Probably a Morning Bun because those things are fantabulous! Tatte consistently has reasonable prices, fast and friendly service (for pastries), and delicious, fresh, baked goods. Because I was usually on a time crunch, I never stayed for a sit down meal, but the atmosphere is open, clean, and inviting. All these things kept me coming back again and again. While a Tatte (not this one) is now three blocks away from me rather than half, I am aching to visit. This is all thanks to this location becoming a part of my morning routine. read more

What a perfect location for a Tatte. Right in downtown Boston in the middle of the hustle and bustle of tourists, college students, right on the cusp of the theater district, across the street from the commons, the list goes on. An absolute prime location with floor to ceiling windows that gives it such a spacious and welcoming vibe from all the natural light. I came here to WFH with a coworker and it was fabulous. Tables lining the windows allows for privacy, a view to look out at (the commons for us), and enough space for us to set up ourselves with our laptops and bags. WiFi and nearby outlets too! I got the chocolate croissant and mint lemonade (both of which I've ordered at other locations before) and the service is so friendly here. Lots of seating and space inside! The ambiance here is on point. Personally found the pastry and coffee just ok. Got here on a Saturday around 9 and it was a long line to the door but it moved quickly. They have a lot of variety for seating, communal tables, bar tables and smaller booth type seating. Free wifi as well. I got the sour cherry almond scone and a latte. The scone is of the drier variety which I don't mind but it was pretty dense and I didn't taste any cherry. I did taste subtle almond flavor and they had actual almond pieces which added a nice textural contrast. Garbage service. I came in and ordered a drink, and I waited and waited and no one made it. I came up to the counter and asked if my drink was coming, so one girl asked what it was and made it. I asked if they forgot about me and she said no one told her there was an order. Which makes no sense because the woman who took my order actually said it and I heard her yell it to the back. There's not much turkey on the sandwich- she was fine with that but an adult may not be :) my bowl was super flavorful and perfect size.
