A lady friend & I had a great evening last Saturday at the Wick. Dinner was served in the larger of the 2 dining rooms, which is in the Museum area of the complex. Even though the room was large, it was very romantic with stars rising up the walls, & actual Broadway theater costumes along the walls. (We were disappointed that dinner wasn't being served in the gorgeous Tavern re-creation of New York's Tavern on the Green, but that room is smaller & there was a big crowd of people there for the Norm Lewis show, which was terrific.) The menu was small but adequate & included 4 courses with prices very reasonable. The soup was an asparagus Vichyssoise, but served warm. Salad was on the same plate, & both were delicious. My friend chose the chicken pot pie & I had the scallops. Beef tenderloin was the third chose. I had carrot cake for dessert, & everything was top notch. My friend wanted her dessert to go, & after the show it was waiting for us at the front door as we left. That's SERVICE ! The wine list was carefully chosen, & I had an excellent glass of chardonnay. My friend enjoyed her sauvignon blanc. Also had an excellent Martini to start. Our very personable server Kelly was overworked, but still did a great job. Marilynn Wick, the business owner, sat with us for a few minutes & mentioned that ICE had recently raided the business & deported several employees, including 2 good hard-working people who were sent back to Haiti. (It's a Hell-hole. Nice going ICE. Hope you're proud of that.) This place is special. Lunch & dinner are served only when there is a show, I think, but if open every day I think the Wick would compete nicely with the other good restaurants nearby on U.S. 1. read more

Okay maybe 2.5 stars. The ONLY reason to go to the Tavern is if you have tickets for the show at the Wick that night. Early self parking avoids the valet parking chaos that occurs when the theater lets out. While the ambience is very pleasant the over all feel reminds me of dinner at a wedding banquet or Bar Mitzvah. A choice of four entrees. Salad and dessert are fixed. This might be tolerable except for the prices. $79 for the loin cut of beef, $75 for crab cakes. My advice: order the chicken and save yourself $50 (for a couple). Yes, $52 for chicken. None of the food is worth the prices charged. Dessert was nice but the waiter never asked if we wanted coffee. Truly a rip off. read more

The Tavern at the Wick is THE BEST!! The theater, the Museum Club, the Restaurant all are welcoming and offer a variety of dining and entertainment experiences. The shows at the Theater are excellent with top notch performances by Equity Actors. The Museum club offers dining and shows with dancing to all styles of music. And the Tavern, which replicates NYC's Tavern on the Green with authentic chandeliers and wall murals which reflect the gardens of NYC's Tavern on the Green, is 5* outstanding. Thank you Chefs and wait staff for maintaining and providing the highest level of food and service that anyone could hope for and receive. Thank you so much MARILYNN WICK and KIMBERLY WICK - you are both so special in your ability to create an environment that is so welcoming. You make us feel like family when we visit. And, especially, thank you, MARK BALLI, event coordinator extraordinaire....you helped us plan an amazing party that went above and beyond our expectations. The dinner at the Tavern was deplorable....terrible food and outrageous prices. The wait staff was rude. We ordered a pasta pomodoro and there were literally 20 ziti noodles in the bowl for $38! We counted! The crab cake was close to $80. It was like having a bad meal at a Bar Mitzvah except that we had to pay for it. The menu states that there is a soup starter and choice of dessert. There was no soup, and one awful dessert--panna cotta. It was inedible. Shame on you Wick. It left a bad taste in our mouths before going into the show. When writing a review I try my best to give positive comments. I found it very difficult writing this one. Located in the Wick Theater Building On Federal Highway in Boca Raton, this beautifully decorated quaint restaurant awaits you. We joined our friends this evening in the Wick Tavern for dinner, prior to attending the show, Funny Girl. Let me start with the positive: The decor is lovely! The wait staff was excellent. The convenience to eating before the show on site is awesome. The warm and crunchy bread was excellent! They accept reservations. Negative: When we called to make reservations we were told they had a Tapas Menu. None was offered or available. The online menu is completely different from that used in the restaurant. The menu choices were lacking- Crabmeat Salad was a cocktail which was equivalent to 1/4 cup of out of a can mix In a Cocktail glass. Prices were high - Whether an appetizer or main dish. $42. for a steak! $18. for Crabmeat Salad aka Cocktail. The Ravioli was a tiny portion as well. Another guest with us ordered a Salmon Salad and was given a bowl of lettuce with a small piece of poached salmon and some slices of smoked salmon added to that. It looked like they ran out of one kind and then added another. We never mind paying expensive prices as long as the meal and quality is worth it. These prices are what you pay in a top scale restaurant like Gabe and Louis where you get what you pay for. We hope that this venue improves their menu choices, quality of food served and gives better value in the future. What great potential they have at their fingertips! read more

I was pleasantly surprised about every aspect of this pre-show prix-fixe dinner. The Tavern at The Wick seats approximately 60 guests, and the decor is fashioned after The tavern on The Green in Central park, which no longer exists. In fact, the chandeliers in the dining room were acquired from the Central Park restaurant. There are dining options which start at 5 PM or 5:30 on nights when there will be a show at The Wick, and then seatings at 7:30 and 8 PM for those not attending a show. Various entree options are offered, as well as a soup and salad, and in-house baked breads are offered prior to dinner. The entrees take on the theme of the show being presented. For example, when I dined, the show was South Pacific, and the entrees, which consisted of several fish options (salmon, lobster tail, rare tuna), beef, and chicken, were all Pan Asian style. And they were good, really good. All choices were priced under $50, and the meal included, in addition to the soup, salad, and rolls, dessert and coffee, tea, or cappuccino. Service by Vinny was attentive and meticulous. I've posted his picture, he was more than eager to have it taken! There were sufficient food runners and assistant waiters to allow for an easy flow of the meal, and one never felt rushed. Chef William Walden has quite a pedigree, with more than 30 years of chewing experience, and had a good amount of fame at several restaurants in the Washington DC area before his relocation to the Boca Raton area. The Wick is fortunate to have captured him. They have a diverse and well proved wine list by the glass and bottle. I was not drinking that evening, and cannot comment more on their wines. Many other diners seemed to be drinking. Diners were all individuals attending the show, and tendered to be 65+, but that didn't surprise me, for unfortunately, I have found that the majority of theater goers in this area are older. I'm not sure what happened to all the people in their 30's or 40's who live in the area, and why they don't attend the theater, but that's a different issue, not relevant for this restaurant review. Bottom line, Yelpers, if you would like a nice dinner in a very pleasant environment before a show at The Wick, come here. You'll likely be as pleasantly surprised and impressed as I was. read more
