I had the short ribs and they were absolutely amazing--so tender and full of flavor! For appetizers, we ordered the burrata, which was pretty decent, calamari which was good, and beets salad which were just okay. I didn't try the meatballs, but they came out as one large portion and I was told they were amazing. The bruschetta was especially flavorful--the sauce from the tomato was so good you'd want to literally spoon it up. The service was excellent, and the ambiance is very cozy and beautifully decorated with vines hanging from the ceiling, giving it a warm, inviting feel. We came here for a friend's birthday and he was given a cake with a candle, which I initially thought was complimentary, but it wasn't. This is one of the best Italian restaurants in Boca Raton. From the ambiance which is classic Italian and the service was very professional the last couple of times we had excellent waiters that explained everything and answered every single question I had. The last time there I ordered the Yellowtail oregnata it came with delicious mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables all fantastic. Overall, the food was excellent! Went with a group and we all loved our food. They start with bread and bruschetta with fresh tomatoes from Italy...wow! They were so fresh and delicious! For apps, we ordered the stuffed meatballs...awesome, best salad, burrata and calamari, all very good. For dinner, I ordered the veal chop special. It was good but since it was pounded so thin, some bites were a little tough. My girlfriend ordered the short ribs over pasta...delicious! Everyone else said they liked what they ordered. Dinner last night at Trattoria Romana was fabulous. Upon arrival we were seated right away. It was 7 PM Sunday evening and the main dining area was packed. Our waiter came to us, introduced himself., took our drink order which was the beginning of a terrific evening of great food, and friends. Caesar salad, a meatball ( one) that was large and delicious over linguine, and a Burrata dish were excellent Followed by a pounded Veal Chop., and Veal Piccata which were fabulous. Cappacino, coffee,and the check and the realization that Trattoria Romana in Boca is a gem, not to be missed. Rarely do we find a restaurant where our family finds MULTIPLE options on the menu to choose from, but we definitely had our hands full choosing from such a great range of options. One of the things we were most impressed with is the amount of specials being offered. And the entrees were just the beginning. Word for the wise leave room for dessert because the tiramisu is AMAZING. They have a long wine list and they celebrate birthdays! I had been to Trattoria a while back for a business dinner but most recently, my BF made a reservation for us to celebrate my birthday. He asked for bar seating, and as soon as we got in, two places were already set for us to sit. Our server was amazing, very attentive and very friendly. He went over the specials, poured us water and with the complimentary bread service in front of us, allowed us some time to decide on our dishes. The meatball appetizer sounded delicious and it absolutely was. Honestly think this is a MUST! As my entrée I had the gnocchi with ricotta, and added chicken (as you can customize any dish). This was heavenly, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The chicken was tender and the ricotta on tops, enough to have a bit on every bite. Just perfection. To finish, we had the ricotta cheesecake, another win! and they added a candle for my birthday. Outstanding service, fresh delicious food and great wine list... what more can you ask for? read more

Three of us dined here for my bday in July. The highlight for me was the tomatoes w/bread (complementary) and Beets w/goat cheese. It all went down from there. I got linguini w/white clam sauce but it was so salty I could barely eat it. I didn't feel like returning it since the starters filled me up so I didn't say anything until after the bill was paid. When I told the server she I apologized and offered to bring me something else to take home. I chose the crab cake over pasta w/vodka sauce. I ate that for dinner the next night. It lacked flavor completely. The big fried crab cake ball was lump crabmeat and a ton of flavorless filler. I order CC's all the time so I know my stuff. The vodka sauce was also bland. Complete contrast to my other meal. But THE WORST PART was that, although we each had our own dishes and didn't really share, 30 hours after dining there and each eating leftovers the next night for dinner, we all got sick (both ends) in the middle of the night. Doing some research it was likely Norovirus bc sickness symptoms typically appear 24 to 48 hours after exposure. We don't live together and we were only together for my bday dinner that night so we definitely caught it at the restaurant somehow. I called the restaurant to let them know the entire experience and they said no one else had called to say they got sick... OK that doesn't really mean anything bc a lot of people wouldn't suspect it was from a restaurant they ate at two nights prior unless you only ate leftovers like we all did. I'm sure this was an unusual experience as far as getting sick as concerned, but the fact that I didn't like either meal makes me not want to go back anyway. They sent me a $50 giftcard to apologize so I may go back and get the excellent beet salad and some drinks at the bar... or just gift it to someone else. read more

Trattoria Romana is a Boca Raton staple! Every dish we have ever ordered from here has been delicious. Tonight, we ordered the rigatoni Bolognese, lobster ravioli, steak and fries, eggplant with rigatoni, & the strawberry shortcake for dessert. The lobster ravioli was a special, and the rigatoni Bolognese wasn't on the menu; however, I highly suggest ordering both. The meat sauce was one of the best I've ever had. Also, the strawberry shortcake was so big you can definitely share it. I recommend making reservations as they are always packed. We have enjoyed this restaurant for a number of years. Last night we took friends who hadn't been there before and we were greeted by a hostess who was making mocking gestures to one of the staff, possibly a manager and then at us. I asked her if everything was ok and she just gave us a look, took us to our table and kept walking...really a poor first impression. Had we not experienced the outstanding food, we would have left. I assured our friends she was obviously having a bad day and not indicitive of the typical service here. Our server was amazing...attentive and funny. As usual the food was divine. Crazy how popular this place is, but after looking at the menu and tasting the food, I could see why... they're a pretty darn good Italian joint! Their menu is quite complete with all the Italian popular items... then, the server advised us of the specials, which was a really long list and that was even better! They even had fresh hog fish here!! All food was made with fresh ingredients and tasted great! Their meatball appetizer is huge, definitely splitable between 4 people and it was excellent! The meat was flavorful and tender and the sauce was great! The hog fish was incredible! Their chicken parm is huge and tender too! And save room for dessert because the ricotta cheesecake was excellent, but what was incredible was their strawberry shortcake! Highly recommend coming here! read more

Disappointed After Many Years of Great Visits We've been regulars at Trattoria Romana for many years, celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions. It's always been our go-to spot, but after our visit last night, we're sad to say it no longer holds the same magic. We were seated quickly, and the restaurant wasn't too crowded, which made conversation easy. Our waiter was pleasant when we saw him, though he was running around, which is typical. I ordered the osso buco, and my husband ordered a pasta special with clams. A few minutes later, he changed his order to a dish with langoustines, and the waiter said it wouldn't be an issue. When the main courses arrived, I was given the pasta dish with clams instead of my osso buco. The waiter blamed a kitchen mistake but assured me it would only take a few minutes to fix. 25 minutes later, my osso buco finally arrived, but by then, my husband was already finished with his meal. I asked the waiter to take it back and off the check. He didn't offer any alternatives or apologize at first and told me, "It's not up to me to do anything." Eventually, the waiter did apologize several times and removed two cocktails from the bill, but by then, the night had already been ruined. It's especially disappointing since this has been our go-to place for so long, and the lack of attention to the issue made the whole experience put a bad taste in my mouth. I hope this was just an off night, but after so many positive experiences, we're left wondering if things have changed. read more

We were in this past weekend for my gals birthday dinner, and wow did trattoria Romana not disappoint. We had reservations on a Thursday rainy night. I had added a note that we would like bar seating. when we arrived the bar area was full but they had already put down a couple placemats and held an area for us. The helpful and kind bartender/server got us a couple great glasses of wine and some bruschetta to start. Huge chunks of a very fresh tomato were memorable. I followed up with some pasta Faggioli. That was excellent. He read through the specials and we locked in on a couple of them. I got the Stuffed shrimp, and she got the gnocchi. Both came out pretty quick, and both were crazy good. I don't think we could have gone wrong with their menu but were definitely winning with our picks. We finished with a very classy piece of cheesecake. It was the more fluffy kind(prefer a dense cheesecake), but good none the less. Its a pricey place, but they back it up. A great case of you get what you pay for, a quality experience. read more

When we were planning our trip to Florida, my buddy told me Trattoria Romana was his favorite restaurant and made a reservation a week in advance--and now I see why. The atmosphere is really cool and inviting, and our waiter (wish I could remember his name!) was fantastic--funny, engaging, and provided top-notch service the entire evening. Placed an order Saturday night, ordered a pasta fragile soup among other items. Opened the container of soup, and it had a gross disgusting glob of something, looked like a movable, jelly, plastic piece of something with a metal round numbered item in it. Could not would not ever eat this. Poured it out in my sink only to find a second round metal numbered piece at the bottom of the soup being pored out. I have photos and called the restaurant. I spoke with the front desk , then Franco. they were dismissive and unapologetic. I was calling only to alert them of the dangers and the disgust, and confusion and wanting to know what those items in my soup were. First spoke with staff at dest then transferred to Franco( owner) who switched me off without a word, staff coming back on telling me they will call me tomorrow, but will reimburse me for my soup. I tried to explain my reason for calling was safety and health concerns, they did NOT CARE!!! They were busy seating people. This call was aprox 20-30 minutes of my time, more valuable than a container of soup!!! We have been patrons for a time, the restaurant is insulting, unsafe, does not care about the safety and consequences of their patrons. This experience, not only the disgusting, unsafe, and vile , is disrespectful and will not be forgotten. read more

Came here for our work holiday dinner and I have nothing but great things to say- from the Valet, to the hostess, to our server- everyone was attentive and welcoming. Bruschetta, focaccia bread, and breadsticks were delicious and complimentary. I ordered the rigatoni alla vodka with the crabcake- the vodka sauce was light but flavorful and the crabcake was enormous and so yummy. I cannot believe I havent been to this restaurant before. We are a party of 5 and we really enjoyed our meal. We were promptly seated and then greeted by our server. He explained all the specials and said we could also make up anything else. One of our guests is vegetarian and she asked for the chef to make up a dish. No problem. All of our dishes came out extremely hot (not spicy but cooked hot). Delicious does not describe how good all the food was. The broccoli rabe was diced perfectly. I prefer the tops of the rabe over the 'stumpy' ends but how it was prepared we gobbled it all! We all ate our hearty dishes with gusto and barely came up for air. As a side note all the staff were extremely courteous and respectful of us. I took my husband last night for his birthday dinner as it's one of our favorite restaurants. We had appetizers they were great, then we order dinner that's when all began. The other couple we were with their food came out cold, they sent it back to be heated, for me I ordered one of the specials with whole wheat pasta and it came out incorrectly. I sent it back 25 minutes later still no dinner, no manager came over to extent their apology, nothing. Needless to say I never got my dinner and was extremely disappointed. We were 4 couples reunited to celebrate our wedding anniversaries. We all married decades ago in June. This was the best venue to celebrate because everything was perfect. We couldn't ask for more when it came to food, service and ambiance. Upon arrival in the pouring rain, our car was immediately valeted. The place was already buzzing with lots of happy patrons. We were greeted and directed to wait for our table in the bar area. We all had seats. Within 10 minutes we were seated at a very comfortable round table in a very crowded room. Every room was packed...a sign that this is an exceptional place. Mario was our waiter- he's incomparable! He was personable, proficient and professional. He folded our napkins each time someone went to the bathroom. He consistently refilled our water glasses. He didn't miss a beat. The initial bread basket and tomato bruschetta gratis appetizers were to die for. The freshness and flavor were outstanding. Everyone was abundantly happy with their choice of entree. I loved my Frutti Di Mare. Portions were large and delicious. Most of us had the meatball appetizer. They were stuffed, so soft and colossal. For dessert we totally enjoyed the strawberry shortcake.
