We went here for my husband's birthday, and it did not disappoint. To start, we ordered a Grey Goose Cosmopolitan and a Grey Goose served up. The restaurant brought out bread with oil and peppers as a complimentary starter, which was a nice touch. For appetizers, we had a dozen baked clams, and they were absolutely delicious. Our entrées included Chicken Francese, Penne alla Vodka with prosciutto, and a half order of Shrimp Luciano (shrimp and spinach). Everything was flavorful and prepared perfectly. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu, and the staff made my husband's birthday extra special by adding an impressive sparkler and singing "Happy Birthday" to him. He also ordered a double espresso, which he thoroughly enjoyed. One thing we really appreciated was that the food arrived promptly. Unlike many busy restaurants, we didn't have to wait forever for our meals. The staff was friendly, attentive, and a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. This is a family-style restaurant, and they do an excellent job creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I also love that the original location was in Roslyn, NY, and that the restaurant was inspired by the founder's grandfather, Mr. Sal. Pros- Food was delicious. Stuffed mushrooms were good Chopped salad season good Veal Marsala and rigatoni. Very good. marsala sauce was excellent. Cons- the website /app allowed me to make reservations at 430 and doesn't open until 5 so hours need to be corrected. Asked if the veal came with pasta and was told yes. Got bill and it was not included and cost $24 for the rigatoni. Not happy with misinformation. Overall was good and service (minus misinformation) was very good and attentive. read more

This is a hidden gem in Boca Raton on Federal Highway. I could not find fault in anyway and had a most excellent experience for my birthday. From the moment we got there our table was waiting for us. Drinks were served within three minutes bread and wonderful spreads accompanied them. It's Italian family style, and the four of us ordered shrimp over wilted spinach also chicken français, pasta, à la vodka, baked clams. They offer two different sizes of dishes we chose to go for the full-size and enjoyed every bit of it without taking any home for dessert. I was presented with a flaming tiramisu and a nice course of happy birthday to me. I highly recommend this again. There was five star review from my family. While searching for a restaurant to book for my birthday dinner, I stumbled across 388 Italian. I don't know where it's been hiding all my life, but I'm glad I finally found it. It's authentic, fresh Italian food fit for a family or large group. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive, and service was amazing from start to finish. We got whole plates to share around, there were about 8 of us so these portions were perfect. We got the amatriciana capellini, chicken marsala, chicken salvatore, and baked ziti. What a nightmare from start to finish. We heard it was Mateo's quality but boy was it so far off. The entry is in a strip mall w valet. Ok no big deal. Walk in bar was crowded so we had high hopes. Sat at a table in the front by window that faced all the dirty plates and garbage. The wine fridge also was in the front window. Ordered a cosmo. It came warm and sub par the rest of the drinks seemed ok. Bread seemed stale, baked clams were good, chopped salad was sad and flavorless tossed in a cheap dollar store bowl. Eggplant parm was so bad. Over breaded & sauce was acidic tasting. Tangy and not very good. The owner offered us gift cards to come back however we try to use it to pay the bill because we are never going back. The right thing to do would have been at least comp the drinks, we really weren't looking for a freebie. We wanted a good meal out. next time it's back to Renzos's or Mateos! Blech. read more

Five stars is not enough for the food and service we received. We were a large party and everything went flawlessly. The portions are HUGE so order accordingly. Our server Mauritzio (sorry about the spelling) was phenomenal. Management pitched to help serve as well. Although the food is served family style, it is not just plopped down in front of you. The server actually serves the food to you. Not many pictures because we were a hungry crowd. The best baked clams I've ever eaten. The pasta pomodoro, simple but so delicious. Pulling in the first 50-60 parking spaces in the entire strip mall is blocked off by private parking device including disabled spaces. Finally inside soaking wet. We sat and ordered. Salad for four was so heavily soaked in vinegar it was terrible. Ordered chicken parm for four and it was pretty good. The pasta in a blush sauce was also ordered. Sauce was very good. Pasta seriously undercooked, no almost raw. Al dente would take at least another 4 minutes. No desire for coffee or desert. A total let down. Three stars is generous. read more

We had family in town last week which was fun, exhausting but fun. One of the occasions was the birthday dinner at 388 for my sister-in-law. We're not strangers at 388 so it's always nice to enter a restaurant and to say hello to friends of ours. There's valet parking, at 7 PM, a filled restaurant , humming with a good beat and pretty people. . The bar was jumping ( a little noisy) we were shown to our table and quickly ordered drinks. At our table were 3 sisters who had not been together for 7 or so years, A few nephews of mine and my wife and I. So the first drink was to say hello to all etc etc etc. Great wait staff, so we then ordered dinner and it was scrumptious. My friend and I went for dinner the other night at 388. (Tuesday 11/4) We were greeted by Augie. I told him the place smelled amazing!!!! He told Me it was his cologne called garlic. We dined here for my grandma's birthday and ordered plenty of food for our party of 12. The service was great the entire meal and what we love the most about this restaurant is that the servers come around and serve all the food so there's no need to pass around a bunch of plates. It's not the most aesthetic restaurant in terms of design, but when the food's good, you don't really care about the aesthetics! We hired 388 to cater. cant really say hired 388, as Jaime the general manager took over our event (after paul) and was a partner in putting together a menu to feed 127 people. It was both personal and professional, and Jaime was always reachable to go over new ideas. the food was fabulous- raves for veal marsala, and chicken franchese. My husband is a very good Italian cook. We never order meatballs out. They were highly recommended and we tried them. 10 out of 10. From the delicious meatballs for appetizers, to the most tasty dish, pasta macchiato and Shrimp Luciano with cherry peppers. This place never disappoints. They give you free Limoncello after dinner. The noise level on the patio made conversation between the four of almost impossible plus loud music. Portions are either 1/2 or full. Unfortunately, our server should have told us not to order 4 1/2 entrees, way too much food. They start you with a plate of Ciabatta with tomatoes and pesto. We had the baled clams for starters, portion of 6, good. For mains, we tried the Chicken Parmigiana, Eggplant Parmigiana, Shrimp Krak,( battered shrimp in a Luciano sauce with hot cherry peppers) very good and Frutti di Mare over pasta with a choice of red or white sauce (clams, mussels, shrimp, and calamari , also very good. This was where we celebrated New Year's Eve. We were a long table of 14 friends and family. We were an early reservation at 6:30. Obviously they were planning on turning the table at 8:30 which they did and rushed us out at that time even though one friend still had a pretty full glass of liquor left. The venue was gorgeous - white tablecloths and red cloth napkins - in the holiday spirit. The waiters were rearing to go as we all entered and took our seats. Tonight was a special menu - all served family style. The entrees were only full trays (no halves allowed this evening). The price of one large meatball was $14 and the proteins like snapper and chicken Marsala between $35-55. Salads and pasta trays were in the $30's. Prices were inflated I'm sure for this event. I was surprised there was no music. The waiter served us individually but unfortunately he didn't serve the chicken Marsala to those who ordered it and then there wasn't enough food. I can't understand what happened? It turned out to be a very expensive meal for what? 2 pastas, 2 salads, 2 veggies, etc. We will never go out family style again on New Year's Eve. read more

Went here for an anniversary dinner since my gf loves Italian cuisine but Unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience. Upon arrival there no was immediate host to guide or seat us (weird). It was rather empty on a Friday night another red flag. The atmosphere was very outdated & felt apathetic. The servers were kind & attentive I'll give them that. Moving into the food. 1. Was in the mood for a pizza. So I ordered the only option they had on the menu, the Cauliflower pizza. Asked if they could add any pepperoni or toppings was met with a firm no. When it came out it honestly looked like a pizza from Chuck E. Cheese Barely any red sauce & abundant of cheese (not the good type). Had 2 slices and had to stop. 2. My Gf ordered rigatoni a la Vodka, she seemed to tolerate it but i knew she was just being generous. I tasted it and it was bland, undercooked, & lacking in all aspects. For such a huge Portion & price $30+ it was very upsetting the quality wasn't there. To conclude, it was obvious we were displeased with our food & experience, no manager even came over to offer us anything else or ask why we didn't like it. Such a shame. We are LI natives and go to the original frequently. The Boca version is going to be great soon. The facilities are beautiful. The Baked clams were great ! However our the entree required two attempts and yet didn't yet hit the level that we'd expected. The pasta was overcooked and lacked salt without salt the food all tasted flat. The "sauce" on the chicken parm tasted like tomato paste without any seasonings. The Owner Paulie is amazing and doing the best he can with local staff.
