OK, gotta admit that the food is good. The spicy chicken "sando" was spicy and tasty, but rather small and sparse for $16.00. Might have been the time of day, midday on a Saturday, but the service was extremely slow. On top of that, I paid extra for the onion ring "upgrade"... and got four small rings. Add $9.00 for an imperial pint of 5.6-5.8 amber ale, and all I have to say is "probably won't be back." Score: food good, service bad, value worse! read more

Really wanted to like this place. Great aesthetic and menu options. We decided to sit at the bar to watch some March Madness. The place wasn't super busy, but our server/bartender wasn't attentive at all. We sat with empty beer glasses for 20+ minutes and they hardly checked in. I love tavern hall! My friends and I come here for brunch pretty frequently but I've also had lunch and dinner here. My favorite part about Tavern's brunch is definitely the $5 mimosas! From 10-12 it's a great deal. Plus, their brunch food is pretty good, reasonably priced, and the service is super fast! I've had the avocado toast, fried chicken and waffles, breakfast hash and breakfast sandwich and I loved them all. Every time I've visited the wait staff was friendly and I've never had to wait for a table since the venue is massive. Would highly recommend! It was 1:30 PM and our last minute effort to find a weekend brunch spot lands at the doorsteps of this gastropub. Tavern Hall is conveniently located by the skybridge connecting Lincoln Square and Bellevue Square. The menus posted by the door caught our attention. Brunch on Saturdays & Sundays is from 10AM to 2PM. We immediately decided to on this gastropub with only 30 minutes to spare. The place definitely lived up to the name. This is actually a long hall with the sports bar located in the back section and main dining area in the front. Service was immediate and we were seated within seconds of requesting a table. The seating arrangement is similar to a public house and the high ceiling creates a spacious feel. Our server was prompt and personable. Being our first visit to Tavern Hall, she provided us with great recommendations. I opted to try their brick oven baked eggs (two eggs, roasted tomato sauce, cheddar grits, Laura Chenel goat cheese, toast) and a manhattan cocktail. The manhattan arrive in style and garnished with a cherry. The food arrived piping hot and was served in a cast iron skillet. The eggs were medium done, the cheese was perfectly melted the ingredients was an absolute complement of flavors. Our gastropub experience did not stop with our entrees. Our server brought out a complimentary Mason Jar Chocolate cake with a generous of vanilla-malt ice cream. The decadent dark chocolate taste with the ice cream is rich blend of cold and warm. We were absolutely impressed with both service and food. This is a great go-to-place for anyone seeking a nice gastropub experience or even a weekday dinner spot. Such wonderful service and lovely food! Now, I am sick, and I can barely taste anything through the congestion, which I mentioned in my comments when I placed my order when asking for some extra sauce. And they delivered, I got so much sauce. And a message to feel better, which was so touching I teared up. And I could taste the hot wings and pickles so this was a very successful sick dinner. I still adore this place. Especially on game day when the Seahawks take a win! They have amazing weekend happy hours. $3-4 mimosa special, great bar food that are fresh! Get the mac n cheese, you will not be disappointed! It has all sorts of cheeses with Granny Smith apples to add a nice refreshing tangy taste to the heaviness of the dish. I still crave for it today! It's that good. I also tried the Moscow Mule and yes, it does come in a copper cup! Service is always great here. The place is HUGE. They have two bars situated in the center with bathrooms between. It's very open, bright with a cool hip vibe to it. Makes you feel like you're in a New York warehouse converted to a shabby restaurant with couches, pool table, bar tops and even a fireplace! I would come here all the time for football games if I didn't live very far out. It's great for crowds. And if you have 3 friends along, you guys can get that drink that comes on a ski and serves 4! *Update* My second visit here was delightful and reminded me that I adore this charming establishment. Our server was wonderful and checked on us frequently but not intrusively so. This time we had the shishito peppers, guacamole and housemade potato ships, fig and blue pizza, kale salad, and fresh ricotta and pear on pita. We weren't picky and told the server she could bring the food out as it was ready, no need to have separate courses. Everything was out within about 20 minutes hot and fresh! 12/16 My friend finally convinced me to come with him to this spot after a Nordies event where little food was served. It was later in the evening but they still served most of their menu - this was impressive considering most places that only serve a bar menu after dinner hours only offer grill items like burgers and fried items. We had the hummus, housemade ricotta, hearth-baked pretzel, and grilled cheese. Not too shabby for $24. Everything was delicious and fresh out of the oven. I'm only sad that I wasn't able to order the shrimp and grits - I will be sure to come back during regular business hours in the future to have the whole menu at my discretion. My favorite place when i come to see movies. I always sit at the bar since i come here by myself. I got kale salad and steelhead twice. How can they make kale and beets taste so good! Very nice beer selection and very friendly bar tender. The inside is nice with so many TV channel to choose. And it's not that loud as other sports bars. read more

This place gets a lot of reviews that I just don't get. The few times I've been here I've enjoyed a nice selection of good beers that were served from tap lines that were clean and food that was exactly what I'd expect. On my most recent visit, the bacon burger I had was great and my wife went all out and got the fried chicken waffles which sounds like a horror movie but was actually tasty. Because it's noisy, its good for the family so we had a good time bringing our 3 & 9 year old here with us during daylight hours. read more

When we got there we were surprised how big he place was and the host told us to feel free to look around for a table in the bar, which is in the front and the back. Barely any cheese and it was overall tasteless. Well, we decided to stick with just one drink each. When the bill came, what a surprise!!! My wine was almost the double price!!! Pretzel French toast is moist and fluffy even though it looks dense. It's not too sweet with cinnamon hint. Breakfast hash is good but just know the peppers are jalapeño peppers not sweet peppers. It's a typical breakfast hash. Breakfast scramble is heavy but good flavor. Maybe ask for less cheese sauce if you are not a cheese person. Green onions are heavily garnished if you don't like green onions, you may want to ask for none. Classic breakfast with Portuguese sausage. It's not a true Portuguese sausage. The classic breakfast is good. I like my eggs over easy but I wasn't given a choice. My fault for not asking. I would come here again. Chicken and waffles were delicious. Also had Tavern burger, fish and chips and toffee cookie which were all very average. Expected it to be busy on a Friday night, pretty loud, had to literally yell to be heard when ordering, waiter had to also yell. Service was very mediocre as well unfortunately. Had to wait for follow up on our order to get silverware. Others at the table were almost halfway through their meal when we finally got up ourselves to get it. Had really high hopes, had been wanting to try out for some time. One smile from our server or act of helpfulness behind order taking and bill delivering would have been appreciated. We will probably do take out for the chicken and waffles if we return to the area, will not have a sit-down meal. read more

Visited on a weekend for lunch, was seated immediately in the bar area. Shortly after the server came to take a drink order and I was able to order my food right away. I ordered a homemade pretzel, and the white cheddar jalapeño dip. My order arrived just a few short minutes later which was great. They gave me the wrong dip, but getting the servers attention was rather difficult so I didn't bother to try get the one I actually ordered. The pretzel also comes with a homemade mustard, be warned, the mustard is spicy!! In general, the service was ok when I could get someone's attention, and the pretzel itself was a decent size, soft and flavorful, and good value for money. I've walked past this place so many times on my way to a very popular Asian fare location in the building next door....It was the picture of the pretzel that convinced me to ask my dinner companion to go inside. Once inside we were greeted by friendly hostesses who sat us with an amazing waiter. So the lure, the pretzel, was good. We should've kept with just one and chosen a single dip. We were convinced to get two and only ate one. Let me say, pretzels do not heat up well. The nachos in theory sound really great - pulled pork, cheese...but it lacks true vegetables (fresh lettuce, tomato, etc) and the cheese is really more like cheese whiz. The french fries might have been my favorite. If you're asked if you want a dipping sauce, just stick with ketchup. I ended up ordering the most flavor free chicken and waffles I can ever remember having. I ended up just having it packaged up. The highlights - service, attentive and visible management team who kept the table clean and the refills timely, AND the most delicious dessert cookies I've ever had. Truly, I may have to stop back just for those delicious cinnamony delights. I think if you live in Bellevue and are looking for a large venue to entertain friends, or you want to watch a sporting event and food is a second thought this place will do just fine.
