You are definitely paying for the view. Great view and great vibe. Sadly, the food did not match its appearance. If they somehow figure out how to make the food taste good, they will surely do wonderful. Although the views are making up the difference and it gets packed. We ordered a bunch of apps and were not impress even a little bit. Best tasting dish was the buffalo wings. Lobster bisque, lacking flavor and came out little hotter than room temp. Stuffed mushrooms were not cook all the way through, had to send it back. Crab cakes were so so. Nachos did not come out right, we ended up scratching that order as well. Just took a friend to lunch at Tavern on the Lake. This restaurant is part of Blue Water Manor and is a must when visiting Lake George. The stone architecture is awesome (read about the history of the building on the menu), and there is an unsurpassed view of the lake from two levels of outdoor seating. The food is good. This is not a negative, it's just that I'm accustomed to giving restaurants a more enthusiastic review which I was unable to do here. For starters, I have to say that Sarah, our service, was very nice. And accommodating. As for our lunch choices, my friend's crab cakes were just OK. Ditto her onion rings. I was told by Sarah that the New England clam chowder was homemade. Clearly, it came right out of a SYSCO can. Itty bitty fragments of clams in a thin tasteless broth, and mealy potatoes fresh from a tin. Disappointing. My salad was good. It was topped with a small piece of perfectly cooked salmon ($14 extra). We shared the flourless chocolate cake topped with Bunny Tracks ice cream. Yummy. Would I go back? Absolutely. That view ... wow. I just wouldn't order the clam chowder or crab cakes. Instead, I would try one of their burgers or other options. read more

Unless your local reservations mean nothing! Vacationers bring a lot of revenue to Lake George and should not be treated differently!

Food was good American pub fare, nothing to write good about and nothing to complain about. The cocktails we tried were so and so, next time I'd try a different one, not from the menu. They were really busy but service was quick, attentive and friendly. The views, if you booked in advance and got an outside table, are magnificent. read more

Arrived on a busy Friday. The server upon greeting us asked for a drink order. I asked about IPAs of which there were two. I asked which was hazy and she shrugged... probably could have checked with the bar ... 10 steps away... my wife asked if the fish fry was good. The server said it's a "typical" fish fry. Sorry to trouble you with these unreasonable questions. That said the French onion soup was very good, the chili not so. Burgers are good and the fish fry was indeed good. Tavern on the Lake is part of the Blue Water Manor family resort complex in Bolton Landing. The establishment is open from May through October. The Tavern resides on a stone cliff directly over the Lake which provides spectacular uninterrupted views of Lake George. Whether you are dining on the outdoor patio or in the indoor dining room, the restaurant is comfortable and cozy. The large indoor bar has a clear view of the wonderful lake scenery as well. We arrived by boat for lunch and were greeted by young me that assist us to doc the boat. Once we climbed the long staircase up to the restaurant, we were greeted and seated at an outdoor table with wonderful views. The menu is your classic American favorites. Breakfast offerings were your traditional eggs, omelets, and griddle items. The lunch menu consists of various salads, burgers, and sandwiches. The dinner menu features a range of beef, seafood, and chicken options. We were fortunate to be seated when we arrived because the Tavern does not take reservations. This place has the potential for true elegance and fine dining, but the vibe was louder than I was ready for. The band was loud and our table was on the deck but 2 feet from a bar/in the middle of a crowd of drunk men so we could barely hear each other. Service was good. Our food was decent: definitely cooked well but maybe some more exciting spices and flavors? My swordfish was a little too black peppery. I wish the flavor came more from the sauce but it was mostly just melted butter. My boyfriend loved his steak- it had a sweet maple glaze. Dessert was decent as well. read more

Came to this restaurant with my family and thought we were in for a good experience. We were brought to a table on a random patio in the back of the restaurant. They can't control their layout but maybe they should have music playing at least. There was live music that they advertised that we couldn't even hear... The table was right under the windows of the bathroom as well as a bright LED light that attracted an ungodly amount of bugs. The server was friendly enough just not the most attentive. The food... the food was bad. We ordered nachos as an appetizer and added the chicken for 8 dollars - there was barely any chicken. Absolutely not worth the 8 dollars. Same thing for the stir fry I ordered, don't add chicken it's not worth it. The stir fry had good flavor but for their insane prices, you'd expect better portions or at least a decent amount of protein. This place has the potential to be good but they need to make some serious adjustments to their cooking staff read more

Review Came here for a late lunch with some friends. We wanted to sit on the patio was were quickly denied with attitude from the hostess. Several tables outside remained vacant for the 90 minutes we were there. We were only given the option of a high top right at the entrance. We ordered a simple Tanqueray and club soda, which were served watered down in beer glasses. Ok I thought maybe we try a house drink and that would be better, but no the margaritas we ordered were all sour mix. Burgers came out dry and dressed with steak sauce, (not mentioned on the menu). Flies harassing us throughout this experience. Finally we ordered an after dinner drink of Woodford reserve on ice, pretty hard to screw up. Yet we were each served a full rocks glass of a watered down Woodford reserve. Who adds water to Woodford?? If that wasn't enough we were charged for "Long" and $6 or ice??? Nowhere did we order a double or a long drink. Who tf charges for ice?? Between the staff, drinks and food it is clear this place is run by DILLIGAF Woodchucks. ***RUDE SERVICE AND FOOD NEVER CAME*** Our table had a guest with a lactose intolerance. This person told our waitress, named Tay, about this food allergy before we placed the order for our food. We placed the order, our food arrived, but there were some questionable ingredients in the appetizer and entree that we needed to confirm were safe for our guest to eat. After discovering there was dairy in the meal, the food was sent back to the kitchen and we were told the order would be rushed out. The food never came out. We had to find our waitress inside because we were left sitting outside for a long time. The waitress finally came with the check after we found her, and after expressing displeasure with the service, the waitress was hostile, defensive, and rude. Tay stated, "if you have so many allergies, you should look that up before you go to a restaurant". Given that we communicated our guest's lactose intolerance clearly and the food was sent back due to the issue, it's understandable to expect that the situation would be handled with care and efficiency. The waitress's response was unprofessional and dismissive. If you have any type of food allergy or dietary restriction, stay clear of this restaurant. read more
