We dined here several times previously, but we have not been here in a couple of years. The last time we ate there we noticed a decline in food quality. We drove by on Friday night and saw the parking was full, so we decided to give it another chance on Saturday. As we walked into the restaurant, we met the hostess who started to take us through the bar area to a high-top table. We told her we did not want that table. She then pointed to a booth in the bar area. We asked her if we could sit in the dining room area. It was like it was a bother to her. She took us to a table and seated us. She gave us the menus and went back to get utensils. When she came back with the utensils, she slammed them on table. At that point, we should have left. Every time the hostess went by our table she rolled her eyes. We ordered 3 different burgers and a chicken sandwich. The Pub Master burger came out correct. The chicken sandwich was ok, but the chicken itself did not have any flavor. We requested the Cowboy burger well done and the special Ja' Be Kidding burger (severed with 6 huge strips of fresh jalapeños) medium well. When these burgers arrived, they were almost rare inside. We notified our waitress, Robyn. She took them back. When she brought them back, they still were not cooked correctly and the fries were cold. We ate around the rare parts. When we were done, we showed Robyn the rare part of one of the burgers. She took the basket then came back with the check. We thought she was going to tell the manager, but no one came to our table. Ordered Take Out for the first time from Murph's. Everything was soooo good!! Had great flavor and was all cooked well. Packaging is nice as well! I called to place a pick up order, and the staff member that answered was very polite and straight to the point; very easy ordering experience. Busy on a Saturday night of Labor Day weekend, but we were seated promptly. Five of us were squeezed in a booth. They were out of clams casino for appetizer. Excellent hearty food! Recommended! We visited Murph's Hideaway for a 12 people family dinner while staying in Poconos in July 2024. The food was excellent and the portions were generous. We liked it so much that in just two days came back with a smaller crew and enjoyed it again :) They also had a good local beer on tap - Broken Heels Hazy IPA. We didn't catch live music but saw the band setting up. First time the service was a bit rough and for some reason they couldn't arrange us a single/combined table though I called in advance and made a reservation for 12 people. Second time our waitress was Carol and we got a great service. All was smooth and nice. We highly recommend Murph's Hideaway if you are in the area and looking for an excellent American bar/grill food. Food ordered Flat Basket wings - these are tiny but tender and delicious with really little fat. We found them better than regular bigger wings with much more fat. 12 Wings - regular buffalo wings. Tiny flats are better. Home Made Chili - excellent. Crock French Onion soup - I didn't expect much from a French Onion soup ordered in American grill restaurant. But this was surprisingly good! Key Largo Shrimp - good. Primavera flat bread - certainly pass on this one. The dough was pretty thick, far from "flat", and the toppings tasted like canned veggies. Cheesesteak Quesadilla and Buffalo Chicken Quesadilla - both were absolutely delicious! Fresh, juicy, with generous amount of filling. Philly Cheesesteak - good as it should be. Shepherd Pie - this one is restaurant's special and it was excellent according to few people in our party. I wish I could try it but it had pork which I don't eat. Burgers: Hawaiian Burger, Jack Burger, Cajun Bleu Burger - all were absolutely great! Generous 1/2 lbs they were, perfectly done as ordered (I had medium-rare), juicy, sizzling, and overall perfect! We came here a lot when they opened but only for takeout. It was Covid. Their young so would bring out our food. We met him here tonight a few years older ! Husband had the stew and I had the chicken cavatappi with broccoli and sun dried tomatoes. Our service was great and they really did a nice job inside. The Irish pictures are a nice touch. The wait staff and employees are super nice, so this is no reflection on them. I had the wings and some fries. As far as wings go, they were alright. Not terribly spicy, but it seems like their specialty is Irish food, so I won't hold it against them. My friends ordered Italian, and did not have much good to say about that, but again.. Irish specialty, so there might be some "when in Rome" happening with that. Go for the pub food and you should be golden. As far as the restaurant goes, it looks like a pub. Pretty good food in the Poconos, where restaurants that please a lot of people are a bit few and far between. The space is quite big and we called about 15 minutes ahead with a party of 8, and were seated at a cool circle table where we could all share & see each other. Our server was also really nice and came by to check on us a couple times, and was accommodating with the menu & orders. Unfortunately, the food was not amazing - I tried the pierogis and mac and cheese, and while the pierogis were fine & decent, definitely felt frozen and reheated. The mac & cheese had no flavor and unfortunately I did not like it enough to take the leftovers home. We also all shared pretzel bites, which were okay but not what we expected (more like pieces of fried bread?). The other diners expressed being similarly underwhelmed with the food. Portions are big and the menu is massive but that also means a lot of the menu is probably pre-made or frozen - decent place for groups looking for a quick dinner in the Poconos though. read more

We love this restaurant!!! Seated our large party quickly even with a golf event going on. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with a bar and family seating. Our waiter was spectacular, the food was very fast and hot! Even though it was busy we felt like we were a priority and didn't wait long for anything. The shepherds pie was to die for! Fish and chips could have fed two (but we ate it all). Despite being an Irish establishment (and it has the vibe of an Irish pub), the Italian chicken parm was a well spiced and lightly breaded chicken breast cutlet and the sauce was authentic. The chili was made with steak chunks and the proportion of tomato, beans and meat made it better than any homemade chili I can make (and I love my own chili). Portions were ample. Also got plenty of app- loved them all. I highly recommend and I'll go back again. We have a four night vacay and only will eat out twice and we will go back to this restaurant instead of going elsewhere because there is no reason to try something new when the food we've had is so amazing. We stopped by here with a large group one night when we were hankering for some food. The food is fine, will fill you up. They have good fries. Overall, a so-so experience. We came by because it is open later than other establishments in the area and the prices are reasonable. The staff is pretty friendly and they do try their best or make sure you have a good experience. Note first of all that some other Yelp reviews report that Murph's is only open for takeout during the pandemic, but as of some time ago, they added outdoor seating (and apparently indoor, although I wasn't interested in that and didn't explore it as a option). Reservations are probably a very good idea. During a visit on a Saturday night, with an 8:00 reservation, the outdoor tables were all filled. We found all the staff appropriately masked, and the outdoor tables were a comfortable distance apart. One disposable (paper) menu per table. Hand sanitizer dispenser at the entrance. This was my first visit to Murph's and they came through with what really mattered: Guinness stout on tap. They have other draft beers, including at least one IPA, as well as others that were of less interest to me. Also have some good choices in bottles, such as a Hop Devil IPA. Our server, Linda, was excellently attentive. She had some good recommendations for us, such as getting the Spinach Artichoke and Tomato Dip for the table (instead of different item - she was right, I think). We kept to the basic pub fare items on the menu and were not at all disappointed. The California Classic burger was enthusiastically approved by my deputy Yelper, who had had it before. The Cowboy Burger was noted to be cooked just as requested to a medium rare. The Fish and Chips platter was huge - some heavily battered fish, but still not too greasy or oily. Very fresh side salad. We had some substitution of cole slaw for fries, no additional charge, and the slaw was excellent. read more

Came here for the outdoor seating but the ambiance is just ok. It might be better at night, with a band and string of lights. However, better than dining inside which seems stuffy and drab. I think this place might be better for some drinks than fine dining. The food was mediocre, I had the Shepard pot pie soup in a bread bowl but there was like only a small amount of the pot pie.
