We came here strictly for the location/views. We only come to Colorado in the winter so jumped at the opportunity to eat here during our visit this summer. The place was pretty empty so we had our pick of tables. We really liked being about to sit on the roof and enjoy the view. They have quite a varied menu and everything sounded good. I had the mushroom tacos and my husband had the salmon poke bowl. Both were very good, but small portions for the price. However, the wait was short and the staff was friendly. It's really nice to have a little place to eat/drink when you get off the water. We actually started way on the other side and kayaked all the way here for mimosas and food haha we sat on the upper patio and could see our kayaks from there so that was a plus. Mimosas were pretty decent and so was the food! Nothing fancy, but you don't really need or expect that at this kind of location. It felt a little more like carnival food so paying $70 for it was much (2 adults, 3 kids) for the taste. It was alright but I don't think worth $70. As locals, we love local spots and supporting them. I watched so many tourists, or city-idts, stop and ask the staff were the restroom was so many times and treat them like such ugly people!!! they all stood up and even if they weren't dining there, smiled (under their masks) and were so polite. We grabbed a quick lunch before our boat ride, and they seated us immediately on the patio. The tuna poke tacos were perfect, just enough, delicious and fresh. The most impressive part of our visit was the hustle provided by our waiter whose name I think was John. We told him we were on a tight schedule, and he accommodated us so efficiently. We stumbled across this place, really the only place near the lake and marina in Frisco on our recent trip to Breckenridge. Understandably the restaurant was short staffed and our waiter was doing the best he could do with what he had. It took a while for our menus and waters to come out, but we were patient as there was no rush and it was a very nice day. They were out of chicken, so we ordered salads and fish tacos. All a bit on the bland side...wished they had some hot sauce! As a manager or owner I know I would pay closer attention to inventory for the busy time of the Summer season. I've always gotten the coconut shrimp and Bloody Mary's here but this time decided to also get the ahi tuna. Bloody was extremely thick and would barely sip up my straw, the ahi tuna ($14) was way over cooked and had no flavor at all but the shrimp was good. My boyfriend got the chicken sandwich, the bread was extremely stale, chicken was kind of dry but overall OK. Pretty disappointed regarding how expensive everything was. The menu is ok , for a grill, but they were out of the chicken salad sandwich. Kids meals seem expensive - $7 for a hot dog and bag of chips. Cole slaw had no flavor. My grilled chicken sandwich had no seasoning. And the bun was cold. The thing that irritated me the most, is my daughter sent back her sesame noodle salad- after 1 bite. They didn't ask if she would like something else- and they charged us for the salad. The manager never came by to see what was wrong. Wont be returning. The Island Grill at the Frisco Bay Marina is a great little warm-weather place with great food, great views, and good prices. You can choose to sit on the roof deck with 360' views of the mountains and Lake Dillon, or choose the lower deck or the "indoor" tent seating (with canvas walls that shield you from the frequent windy afternoons). The wait staff is friendly, if not always incredibly prompt. They make you feel like a local here (in a good way!) Come between 4pm-7pm for their exceptional happy hour, with $1.50 PBRs, $2.50 microbrews, or for $4.00 you can enjoy their signature Island Sunset, a deceptively smooth and fruity frozen drink. I think they actually limit customers to two each of these very powerful little red, yellow, and orange devils. If you're not acclimated to the altitude yet, take it easy. The food is a little bit more colorful than your average bar fare. They have pulled pork sandwiches, a good asian coleslaw, burritos, burgers, etc, and usually a very tasty daily special. The prices are good for Summit County, where you're generally lucky to get food and drinks for two for under $40. We usually get done at the Island Grill for $30 or so. This place is dog and kid friendly. They are nestled in the marina between vast grassy lawns and the boat piers. The real test of their service was when we had dinner here on the 4th of July. Despite being packed to the gills with hungry and thirsty visitors, our friendly, attentive waitress did not miss a beat! Very impressive for a place that, at all appearances, is run by sailors or surfers or other relaxed individuals. NOTE TO WINTER VISITORS -- I do not think the Island Grill is open in the colder months, given its mostly-outdoors arrangements. Probably open from late May thru September, if I had to guess. read more

One of the best summer spots in the mountains. You can find a good happy hour here from 4-7pm, with live music, kids and dogs roaming around. Beer prices aren't great, but wells and mixed prices are decent $3.50-$5.00. This is a casual outdoor bar and grill that I enjoyed the setting sun at many times this summer. read more

Decided to come out to Frisco Marina for what seemed to be like an awesome day. We had an alright time and it was very beautiful until we headed towards the Island Grill for some lunch. The service seemed to be a little sub bar, but I was fine with it because the restaurant is located at a marina and it was a beautiful Saturday. I ordered the South Beach Sandwich as it was recommended by the server. The sandwich was alright, but it was later when I began to have some problems. It was that night when I realized I had food poisoning from Island Grill. It was a very rough few days. I wish I could say I had a better experience, but unfortunately not! I hope if I ever do return to Frisco Bay Marina, that they make some improvements all around. The employees also seemed to not really enjoy their line of work. We went for the atmosphere but the experience was the worst ever. There was like 5 servers wondering around as my family and I were standing at the host stand waiting to be seated.
