The salads are incredible! My absolute favorite is the buffalo chicken salad with the house-made ranch dressing. The service is fast and dependable. If you prefer a large crowd, consider going on a Friday/Saturday. If you want a quiet lunch out, try a Wednesday or Thursday. Choice of outside or inside seating. We chose inside due to hot afternoon. Not super busy at 5:00ish, average bar restaurant vibe, nothing fancy, a bit worn around the edges. Prompt friendly waitress, recommended some menu options, I chose crab cake sandwich, side salad, fries. Husband chose a fried grouper sandwich that the waitress said was pretty large (it was not - one end of the grouper looked like it fell off into the fryer or someone was hungry in the kitchen), fries were great. Salad was fresh and blue cheese was awesome. Crab cake perfect and homemade - tartar sauce homemade and very good. Stopped here for a bite to eat. After being ignored by several wait staff and bartenders, we finally asked if we needed to be seated and were told to just sit anywhere. There was no hostess in sight. After finding a booth, we again waited for someone to bring us menus and the hostess came out of her hiding place to do just that. We looked at the menu and nothing appealed to me, so we left. I cannot comment on the food quality, but the service sucked big time. They were not even that busy. Also, the parking lot is an accident waiting to happen. Cute little place right in front of Ski Liberty. Burger night is Wednesday and it's a burger and side for $7 or $8. They looked delicious. I got crab cakes (2) with a side salad and coke slaw for like $25! And they were nothing but delicious sweet crab, no fillers. Salad was fresh, no iceberg lettuce. Coleslaw was sweet. Had an orange crush which was very good. We will definitely be back next time we are in town. 4 adults, each with a beer or drink and dinner for less than $100! This restaurant is outstanding. It's exceptional is as of this world the food the service the atmosphere everything about it is 10+ we go there each year when we are down for our annual motorcycle conference in Gettysburg and each year. I think they can't get better and they do The food is just unbelievable. You cut everything with a fork. It's juicy moist tender on the steaks the chicken, the burgers, everything this time around they were able to accommodate 25 of us at one place setting, which was very cool. They allow separate checks, which is great because of us are a couples of us a singles and Since we went last year, they have opened up another pile of the restaurant so now they still have about maybe 30 I'll say 30 to 50 seats outside and probably can seat just seating a good hundred people inside plus some room for standing. We also have seats at the bar, but everything is always clean fresh you never see crumbs of dirt on the floor. The owners are right talk with you when you want to speak with them and stuff they don't treat you like you're just another customer. They treat you like your son special each and every time you come in and they wanna know what you say what you think what's good what's bad is never anything bad. It's not that far off the beaten path from the main get by the Gettysburg in the next town, but it is definitely worth a trip if you're on your way through I myself would definitely not Miss this each time I go down to Gettysburg. Huge portions but my pasta with crab and vodka tasted like it had an overwhelming about of Parmesan cheese in it. It was good but not the best. Nice down to Earth atmosphere. Stopped in for drinks and ordered a whiskey sour. I believe they were short staffed. When we told the waitress we were only getting drinks she was relieved. The view is of the ski lift at the golf course next door. The menu looked like typical Applebees/Chilis and nothing on the drink menu stood out. It was a nice pit stop. read more

High-season tourist prices, and low quality (and low QUANTITY) food. Service is slow, staff not terribly friendly, and it doesn't matter how you order something cooked, it's coming out extremely well-done and dry. Prices are what you'd expect in New York City, not the Pennsylvania countryside. Don't throw your money down this hole -- drive into town (downtown Gettysburg is only five minutes away!) and find a decent place to eat. read more

Came here after a ski trip to liberty mountain. This place is located just across the street from the resort. Not too noticeable but was able to spot it from a distance from the neon lights outside the restaurant. The inside is gives me nice small town vibes. There is a pretty big bar and numerous tables and booths. Originally came just to get some beers but also got a couple appetizers. Decided to order on tap lagers which were great. Also got the 10pc chicken wing in the Caribbean jerk flavor. The wing flavor was flavorful and the wings were lathered in so much sauce. The chicken bbq flatbread was also great and pretty light. The service here was pretty fast and we enjoyed our time here. I will be back here on my future trips to liberty mountain. read more

It was Valentines Day and I made a reservation.  They didn't mention on the phone that the menu was a fixed menu, if I knew that, we wouldn't have went because we wanted Greek food. My husband asked for a beer list and the waitress read off the beers.  He asked if they had Yuengling and she said they didn't have it, but another guy was drinking one!  We pointed that out to the waitress and she ended up bringing the Yuengling.   I asked for a wine list, her response was "we have all the wines"   she said we have Chardonnay,  pilot grigio, merlot, cabernet.  She was not able to specify anything else, I was expecting the brand and type.  It's like telling a beer drinker we have pale ale, stout and lite beer.  The food took a while and she brought me the wrong order.  She said she put a rush on my new plate but that took forever too.  When my food finally came I asked for a to go box because my party was already done eating.  They also said my husband's order came with two sides but then a few minutes later the waitress said she made a mistake and it actually came with a salad.  He got his salad and just a couple minutes later they brought his food, he wasn'td done his salad.  The waitress was apologetic.  The restaurant was about 70% full when we were there,  it's not even like they were packed and had a line out the door.  They comped one glass of wine and gave us a free piece of cake for the trouble, but I don't like sweets.  I would have preferred an additional discount on the food, or at least my husband's beer.   Also, they were in the middle of renovating so most of the place had exposed beams.  It's such a pity because I would like to give them another chance, especially since their regular menu looks delicious and we don't have a lot of options in the area.  Perhaps it was an "off night". read more

My wife and I moved to Gettysburg eight years ago and I regret that it taken me this long to find this restaurant. Dined there there for lunch on Saturday... And the food and service was excellent, the prices were reasonable. My wife had the buffalo chicken salad and I had the grilled steak salad... We both shared The tempura shrimp appetizer before the salads. The tempura shrimp appetizer with doc sauce was delicious. The chicken in my wife's Salad was as she says, "awesome". The steak in my salad was done just the way I ordered it, medium rare. The iceberg lettuce quarters, bleu cheese crumbles, bacon pieces and blue cheese dressing made this one of the best, if not the best steak salads I've ever eaten. Our server, Timothy, was attentive, timely, and friendly. I'm glad we found this Great restaurant only 8 miles from our home.... but disappointed that it took us eight years! read more

I was very disappointed with my meal. My crabcake was burnt, and all my French fries were an inch long. Took forever to get our meal. The only thing good was our waitress. Passed this place dozens of times, went in for the first time today and was glad I did! This is a perfect Apres Ski location after a day at Liberty. Stop here when you pull out of Liberty and have your libations and snacks. Cool bar with cute friendly bartenders and servers. The happy hour specials are pretty good. I think it runs between 4 and 6, Monday through Thursday. On Thursday it was $2 Margaritas (2 bucks!) but I had a Bloody Mary for $4 at the HH price. And it was a great Bloody Mary. Okay, I had two. I ordered the burger. It hit the spot. It was kind of funny because I got the "Taverna Burger" which comes with "the works!". It turns out that "the works" are lettuce and tomato. LOL It was a good burger though. The wings smelled good. That tacos looked good ($1 special today) and in general it seemed like a better call than the resort bar if you are on your way out anyway. If you are going to keep skiing I'd stay at the resort, but if you are headed home or spending the night at the lodge, come here and sit at the bar! Seems like a fun place to hang out. read more

We ate at Taverna 5450 last night, at the recommendation of our ski instructor Cody (including his name in the hopes he gets a drink on the house next time he rolls in). AMAZING MEAL! We had the mozzarella sticks, crabby fries, Greek salad, salmon, and fries haddock (Friday in Lent). Everything was exceptional: fresh and made to order. The wait team was friendly and helpful, and even convinced us to get a piece of baklava to eat the next day (so delicious and made by the owner's mother). It was a very easy walk to/from the ski resort and very affordable. We are used to DC prices, so we laughed out loud when the bill came. Such a great deal. We will definitely be back! read more

4 1/2 really. Great food, service, decor. Taverna is a great restaurant at the base of a ski resort near Gettysburg. If you are visiting the area, make the drive. The menu has a very good selection from bar food to seafood. I had the seared tuna - it was excellent - done just right encrusted with the right amount of black pepper, but light on the accompanying sauce. The only negative was that they did not have a sea weed salad served with it. The crab cake was very good but a bit on the salty side. Our server was named Eli, and he was very good. The fries are FANTASTIC! The decor is very cool, decorated with snow boards, civil war arms, and had the feel of a Swedish chalet. There is outside seating available. Great beer selection. read more

We've been here twice this week and I've been impressed. My only complaint is that it's unsettlingly busy, which really is a compliment to the establishment - obviously a very popular local business. The portions are substantial and worth the cost, the service is quick and accurate, and the range of tasty options is excellent. First time I ordered loaded gravy fries (slightly subpar, but it's fries and gravy, you can't make that fancy) and reuben balls (weird but awesome) and ended up having my entree crab salad for lunch the next day (it was still excellent after sitting in the fridge for sixteen hours!). My husband got through about half his steak creole pasta before also running out of steam but liked it so much both hot at the table and cold the next day that he almost ordered it again the second time we went. He ended up instead following my lead and trying a burger for carryout, as it was a little too busy on Friday night for me to be comfortable dining in but happily they're doing well organized takeout. A much different meal from the first, but just as good - both "the Rodeo" and "the Spicy Knight" were delicious and worth the walk over. I appreciate the hours, too - I'm a night owl and hardly anything around here is open past nine. read more

My friends and I recently vacationed near Gettysburg, PA and wanted to find a place to eat that would accommodate a large party with kids of all ages. They took a reservation and even seated us away from the bar so we could hear each other.
