It was an interesting thicker cream cheese-ish dip which required spreading with the knife. The website lists a "weekly steak special" but none was to be found when we went. So we got the gyro which was decent and the Philly cheesesteak which was extremely salty to the point of being almost inevitable. The homemade chips (the only non upcharge size) were thick and crunchy. Both sandwiches were around $20 which felt overpriced for the quality. Other sides were available for an upcharge, which seemed not worth it on the existing bill. The service was good, the bathrooms were nice, and there was plenty of parking. The food was just disappointing. If you're more of a drinker, you may be able to overlook that.

The King's Onion Soup is my absolute favorite and something I look forward to every time we visit. The food is always amazing, but honestly, one of the biggest reasons I love this place so much is the atmosphere. Eating downstairs in the tavern genuinely feels like stepping back in time. It's cozy, historic, candlelit, and such a unique experience that you really don't get anywhere else. The service has always been quick, friendly, and great every time we've been here. Between the food, the history, and the incredible atmosphere, Dobbin House is an absolute must whenever we're in Gettysburg. I recommend it to everyone!

But once inside and seated, it was clear to us that the B & G was no ordinary bar & grill. The burgers are themed for generals, both Federal and Confederate, who took part in the battle. Each burger is characterized by the general it's named for. The General Buford, for example, is served with bleu cheese crumbles and horseradish (he's a cavalry officer, get it?) and the Robert E. Lee features a slab of Virginia ham. I ordered the General George Meade. Meade was a Pennsylvanian, so naturally this burger comes with a pile of Philly cheesesteak. A carnivore's delight, to be sure. No complaints here. And if I'm ever back this way, I'm curious to try the General Longstreet: it's served with carmelized onions and peanut butter. That's gotta be good.

We arrived to the very large parking lot in front of the massive historic red building restaurant and barn along with a whole lot of other people coming in to experience this evening at Hickory Bridge Farm. Once inside there were tons of people waiting to get called, and there are crackers and cider to enjoy while waiting. Once your name is called, you pass through another set of doors into the MASSIVE open dining area with wood ceilings and pillars and a sea of tables. Most of the tables were large round or super long wooden tables just filled with families. We were just a party of two, but they also have smaller tables for us as well. Our server was Ashley and she was absolutely wonderful from start to end this evening. Now about how this all works.... You pay one price, except for cocktails, and the food begins to roll out to your table...and keeps coming! Dish after dish was placed on our table, to the point we had to teeter some right on the edge. It's all family style service, so nothing is portioned out. It's large dish after large dish after large dish...LOL The food we were served on this evening was good home cooked items. They start you off with spiced peaches, and salad, then came Chicken, brisket, potatoes, veggies, bread, etc... and of course you have to have dessert which they offered us two, of which they said, "you can have one or the other..or both... OINK I say... Hickory Bridge Farm is not fine dining, it is absolutely a good old fashion down home family dining experience.
