Great italian food with an array of choices. The service was fantastic service and ambience was. perfect for date night. My halibut special was cooked perfectly! (halibut is not easy to make). The osso buco cut like butter (actually, you didn't even need a knife). The desserts were delicious as well. We had a piece of the rainbow cake which was moist and tasty. My family came to Primo Amore Italian Restaurant to celebrate my husband's aunts 75th birthday. There is a small, very small parking lot right next to the restaurant but there is metered street parking too. My husband's uncle had made reservations for a party of 9 and we were seated right away even though we were missing 3 people. We started with the complimentary bread and dipped it in the rosemary infused olive oil. It was good. I ordered a glass of the white sangria. The sangria was good, but I definitely had better. For appetizers, we ordered two Hot Antipasto for Four which comes with Eggplant rollatini (4), clams casino (8), fried calamari and fried shrimps (8). I really enjoyed this antipasto. For entree, I got one of the specials that our server listed. It was a paella with sausage, chicken, clams, and shrimp. The portion was a good size and it was very tasty. I prefer having the protein mixed in with the rice like the traditional Spanish paella but it was very good. Service was wonderful and attentive. They refilled our waters without even asking. I came here as part of a baptism lunch. The service was generous given all the kids and babies. I don't know all the things we ate because it was a fixed menu. To my best guess: - complimentary bread tasted like grocery store bread but the rosemary infused olive oil was tasty - appetizers were an assortment which included a bacon clam piece, mushroom Rockefeller, eggplant roll, fried shrimp, and a mussel. They were all good. - salad was dressed on the heavier side for my liking - the veal sorrentino and the chicken parmesan were both decent. Smaller portion than expected but it might have been because we got so many courses. I liked the parmesan a bit more, the veal sauce I could imagine getting tired of. - the entrees came with pastas. I got the ziti with a garlic butter sauce that was flavorful but too rich for me about a few bites. The rigatoni vodka was tastier. Both cooked al dente. - the pinot grigio in my Pic tasted good. The atmosphere of this place is amazing. It put us in such a good mood and it felt so homely. All the staff were amazing. That's why it's so hard to say that the food wasn't so great. Maybe I'm just used to my regular spot, but the food just didn't taste how I had expected. The sangria i ordered tasted more like fruit punch. Notes: great pricing but skip the veal. It was pounded way thin but dry. And the veal was under seasoned. My companions ordered: House salad, mix of arugula and balsamic dressing. Lobster Ravioli - nice plate of sauce. Average portion. Spaghetti with mini meatballs - trio combo of chicken, pork and beef. I preferred the beef but I can see the appeal of the others. The star of this dish for me was the spaghetti and the sauce. Meatballs were good since you get a variety, I've never seen this before at any other place. So points for that. This place is located right by my wife's job and her boss recommended it ages ago. The ambiance is very old school Italian which we love. There aren't many places left like this. The waiters are all kind and really social which I enjoy. I like feeling like I'm family when I walk into a restaurant and this is exactly how I feel when I dine here. They have many options and the menu is very extensive. From appetizers to entrees you will never leave hungry. My favorite is the veal chop Milanese. It's huge!! For how delicious this place was, I'm surprised I haven't come here sooner! It is a nice Italian style restaurant both in cuisine and atmosphere. There is Italian music played while you enjoy your meal. They had a number of different cocktails as well as soft drinks. The wait staff was very kind and we appreciated the complimentary bruschetta that was brought out to the table before we ordered. My wife and I came here in a random weeknight to check out their menu, because we were considering a baby shower st this restaurant. The staff were friendly and the dining area spacious with ample seating. athena restaurant can easily fit 50 to 60 people. We tried the items that we would have chosen for our baby shower and the food was very delightful to our tastebuds. This could easily be my new favorite Italian restaurant given the proximity to where I live and the quality of their food and service. The thing that I didnt like was their cheesecake, which was made with ricotta cheese, which the staff claims is what italian cheesecakes are made with. I didn't know that ordering the cheesecake, and expected so soft, fluffy, light, tasty cheesecake. Instead, what I got really tasted like chalk or leftover cheesecake that was out for 2 weeks. I didnt like it, I took a nibble of it and had enough. Ordering this cheesecake was my mistake, but I felt the wait staff or the menu could have made it more clear what this cheesecake was made of, because I'm sure I wasnt the first one to have such a negative reaction to their cheesecake. We came here with Mommy for lunch. It was a nice quiet Italian restaurant serving some good selections of Italian dishes. Emilio greeted us, and Fabio served us. The service was excellent! Some of the food were excellent too. We had bruschetta on the house. Then we ordered an appetizer stuffed with calamari. Their tomato sauce was delicious, but they only used two small calamari. There were a few mussels in it too. The minestrone was perfect. For the entree, I had capellini garlic and oil with shrimp. Again, the shrimp was small. I thought they used slightly bigger shrimp here. Hubby had Chicken Scarpiella. This was a nice one. I tried it. Mommy had blackened salmon. The salmon was well prepared and tasty but was on the smaller side. I don't mind trying other dishes next time. I'm sure the protein portion has been reduced due to inflation. It had cold cuts that looked like they came from an Oscar Mayer package. They put the juice of pickled vegetables all over it. The fried zucchini was ok. The entrees itself was terrible. The cheese ravioli were clearly frozen. Tasted like the dollar tree raviolis with some ragú sauce. The chicken francese must've came from a jar. The side dish with veggies and potato's were frozen. Lets get this out there because as we humans have the attention spans of gnats now, reading the first three lines is the hook. Would I eat here again....NO NO NO. Well not here. No butter, only dipping oil is what we were told. SAY WHAT? Are you telling me there is no butter in this restaurant. Ok, we will sit in our corner and be happy with the dipping oil. #2....G said his eggplant parmesan was find and he had no complaints. He hardly complains about much so I am not sure where the bar is set on his meal. #3....My chicken parmesan was the thinnest chicken I have ever been served. This chicken must have been on Atkins, Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem before it was served to me. Ok, I have to assume it was chicken but I am not exactly sure. It was white, battered and had sauce and what looked liked sliced mozzarella from a deli on top of it. I ate one small piece of it and took the rest home. I am not sure why I took the rest home as I threw it out, but I figured I paid for it so I might as well take it home. I also received a side of potatoes which were nothing special. I was going to give this place 3 stars, but decided that 3 would give the impression that you will be at least pleased with your meal and I am not so sure I can with good conscious say that to my fellow yelpers, so I give this place 2 stars. My annual Christmas luncheons are always held here. This is a nice old school Italian eatery with a warm vibe. We always order from their Prix Fixe Lunch Menu. The menu offers a variety of items including a choice of each: Appetizers, Entrées, Coffee or Tea, and Ice Cream or Cake for Dessert. They offer a bread basket which I always skip. The bread is too hard & flavorless. I do partake in the tasty Bruschetta that they serve as well. The food is always amazing & satisfies my palate. The food always comes out in a timely fashion. As an appetizer I had the Eggplant Rollatini. My entrée was Chicken Parmigiana with a side of Broccoli & Potatoes in Garlic & Oil. We came for our friends daughters 6th birthday and ordered from the pre fixed dinner menu. The price was great and so was the food. For appetizer I got the mozzarella in carrozza which was mozzarella melted in between bread and deep fried, for the main entree I got the penne alla vodka with chicken and dessert the tiramisu. My friends ordered Fried zucchini, Eggplant Rolatini and Cold anipasto for apps. Entrees they got the Chicken Parmigiana, Spaghetti and meatballs and Cheese Ravili. For dessert they got the chocolate mouse and flan. We loved everything! The workers were so attentive and nice. They brought the birthday girl her dessert on a big plate designed with mango, raspberry and chocolate sauce that had the happy birthday writing it was so pretty. They lit up a candle and sang to her. Love this place and will be coming back. They also give you a basket of bread along with their flavored olive oil. The tricolor endive salad was delicious. I asked for red vinegar to compliment their dressing. I suggested they use sliced apples with this. Pears would do as well. The lobster ravioli were good. Had the lobster been cut in larger pieces and the pasta been white, the dish would be even better. The tiramisu was good. It would be even better with more syrup, including with liquor. I am not sure if they had that. Although I did not suggest this, some more espresso powder would make it better too. A varity of bread plus breadsticks for lunch would be good. Doesn't look much when you walk past the restaurant , I checked out the lunch prefix options $20 on A sign they had outside. Out of curiosity I decided to give it a try. When I walked in I was welcomed warmly by this nice elder man. It didn't seem busy around 3:10pm. I notice around some tables and the walk in dining that they catered to mostly elder guest. Also a reason why the food was not salted down. It has a good texture to it, the lovely server came over asked if I wanted my dishes pepper or salted down. I thought the flavor was good with out it, the portion of the prefix was a lot, it came with coffee and dessert all included. After my appetizer soup and entrée, I decline the dessert, the server was lovely he asked if I wanted to pack my dessert. It was a good gesture, but I didn't take it, he offered me coffee since it was also included in the prefix. I wasn't rushed out or anything I took my time with my coffee to settle down that big meal I just had. Afterwards I thought they were going to get me the bill right away, but no, the nice waiter actually offered me a refill lol. At last I actually asked for the bill. Over all for its service, I ended up giving over 30% gratitude. I will definitely come back here for my next lunch meal. read more

I would have given more stars but I am knocking down a star because of what happened when I first walked in. We were seated and had to wait for menus. In an empty restaurant. I requested menus and the waiter/manager? just held his hand up to me in a "shush" manner and just stood there. Not getting the menus. No he was not busy. He was just standing there. Took a whole 5 minutes for him to get it. The whole holding his hand up and forcing us to wait while he stood around not doing anything was just so rude I even contemplated just getting up and leaving but I was so hungry and I had my mom with me who was also very hungry I decided to just bite my tongue and wait. That whole spiel just put a bad taste in my mouth for the rest of the meal. However, the rest of the time was fine. Food came out quick- the restaurant was empty after all so if it took a while I would've been pissed again. I had the linguine with clams- it was very good. Hate when it's gritty and sandy and it wasn't here so they had that going for them. My sons spaghetti and meatballs were nothing specials. My moms chicken Marsala was average as well- lot of times this comes out dry but it wasn't too dry here so that was good. The bruschetta was soggy- so I did not enjoy that. Maybe they should serve the bread and topping separately so it won't sog the bread. The bread was definitely nothing special and in dire need of flavor.
