Okay, okay, I'm a gluten free foodie, so, this review is really for those GF folks looking for delicious food. Taverna Rossa has it! Their gluten free pizza, chips + queso, chef's choice deviled eggs, and GF pasta...absolutely unbeatable! The restaurant has great service, though parking can be tough on weekend nights. Unfortunately they recently changed their menu, according to our server. We used to love their pasta but they removed most pasta dishes from the menu. The pizzas are delicious but it's unfortunate that they removed great pasta items from the menu and replaced it with this subpar grilled cheese. We LOVE Taverna Rossa. When we want super nice, thin crust, unique pizza, Taverna Rossa is the only answer. There are so many amazing things about this restaurant and one sliiiight con. Pro's: Pizza is stupid good. Our Favorites are the Bees Knees & the Pink Piggy. Oh man...I'm hungry now. Our favorite appetizer is the Buffalo Shrimp. This plate consists of 5 jumbo shrimp coated in a slightly crunchy batter tossed in buffalo sauce. Oh man...now I'm starving. The buffalo shrimp are truly the best shrimp appetizer I've had anywhere. I can't recommend it enough. The bar is absolutely amazing. They have an excellent selection of whisky (and probably other things, but I never get past the whisky), and the bartenders are masters at making mixed cocktails. My personal favorite, (as if you couldn't guess if you follow me) is the Old Fashioned. Delicious! They also have a great rotation selection of craft beers. Always something new and fun to try! The staff is great. This place can get packed - everyone is always on their game and they do everything they can to make sure you have a good experience. Live Bands! They have lots of local and excellent bands that come and play in the restaurant which is a great way to hear something new and unique and help provide a great atmosphere. Con: The ONLY negative with Taverna Rossa - Live Bands! The band setup happens to be by the front door facing towards the tables (obviously) and the music can get REALLY loud. So loud it can be difficult to hear the people next to you. With that said, I'm happy the option exists to have a band, it really does help with a great atmosphere. Our server, Bri, was so delightful. She was very prompt to meet our needs with water and tea refills. She continued to check on us frequently. Bro was outstanding as was our wood fired pizza. The best gluten free crust in town! Make sure to get there early the wait is usually 30+ minutes for a table. But it's worth it.

I really do not like to leave negative reviews and I cannot attest for other items on the menu, however, the pizza is no better than a marginal, frozen pizza and I would highly recommend one does not order it. The crust seems to be frozen or equivalent to one that's made in advance on the open market. So sorry for the negative review but at today's prices for food when one does not receive a fair value in return, we all should share with one another. We were worried that we would have a long wait, but you can check in ahead of time on Yelp so that you can be added to the waitlist. We started with pepperoni pinwheels(new appetizer) and they are AMAZING! Then we had the Bee's Knees pizza which was also really good. The crust is on the thinner side, but not too thin to where it is crispy and it's still packed with so much flavor. My husband ordered the TR Fancy Free which is their version of an old fashioned. They have live music on some evenings during the weekend and it can get really loud, but they do have a really nice patio that is covered and just as nice as the inside. My friend warned me that they were pricey & I can definitely see how you could easily spend $100 here for two people to have drinks & food. However, they have an awesome lunch & family dinner special! Both days I ordered the same thing on the lunch special. You're able to get a fountain drink, a salad & a personal pizza for $12. I think that's an awesome deal especially for the quality of food. My biggest problem now is that I loved what I ordered, so even though I'd like to branch out and try new things I'll always crave my original! My lunch special of choice is a sweet tea, Caesar salad & a Smokey pie with a side of ranch. (How could you go wrong with brisket on a pizza?) My husband & I also ordered the Killer Sausage Queso & it was incredible. I think what really makes me love this place so much is the way everything ties in together. The food is amazing, but so is their wait staff and the environment. Both times I've visited we sat on the patio. The weather was nice & the patio is covered. Darlene was our waitress that took care of us and she was very very knowledgeable of the menu and the gluten free options it has to offer. Wanted to try a new place and I had heard good things about Taverna Rossa. Stopped in around 5:25 on a Saturday and while the restaurant was busy we were a le to be seated right away. Service here was great! I really wish I had caught the name of our server as she was one of the best I have ever seen. She was friendly and had great suggestions and was very attentive even though she was training another server. We had the Family Dinner with the Pretzel, Panzanella Salad, and Bees Knees pizza and also added a BBQ pizza. The pretzel was super tasty and a great start. The salad was good and the croutons were particularly tasty. The Bees Knees was very good but could have used some spice while the BBQ pizza was spot on. My only issue is with the crust for the pizza. It was much thicker than I would have expected and while it certainly tasted good enough, it did not have the same consistency as I have had with similar style pizzas. Overall I would love to have a 4 and a half star option as the service was amazing and the food was tasty all around. Still a definite try if you are in the Southlake area. read more

Patrick Pombueba and his musical prodigy with a trumpet made me feel things tonight that I never thought I'd ever feel again. From Frank Sinatra to Maroon 5 to Brittany Spears, I was giddily belting along to their god-tier set list to the point that patrons around me were giving me odd looks. We've been coming to Taverna Rossa for a few years and it remains one of the best choices for pizza and pasta in NE Tarrant County. Yes, weekends can get crowded, so I recommend Sunday or Thursday nights as best times to enjoy TR. They have a semi-regular list of special items worth checking out, but you also can't go wrong with the regular menu items. They've experimented with live music on and off over the last few tears. My experience is that it doesn't work well in this relatively small interior - too loud for the normal dinner crowd. This might play better in the "three-season" porch that they have on the other side of the host station. read more

In no universe should the crust be tasteless, cracker-like, and soggy. We got the Classic Rossa. I specifically mentioned to the server that I prefer a crispy crust - this was the opposite. When I held up a slice, it drooped like a wet flag. Toppings were generous but not a lot of flavor. Artichokes tasted unseasoned. One of my colleagues suggested that a pizza with a lot of wet toppings is likely to be soggy - well then, don't put it on your menu unless you can manage the trick of a crispy, flavorful crust and the wet toppings of your recipe. read more

So excited we were able to get into this place on a busy night. Parking is tricky and there was a minor way but it was overwhelming worth it. To start the service was absolutely OUTSTANDING. Our waitress was excited about the menu and was so nice. The family special was perfect for our family of four. The pretzel is a MUST with queso the absolute best pretzel I've ever had.
