Ambiance and service are good. However, I would argue that the food and the value isn't good. Most of the food is lacking in portion size for cost, as well as general flavor. I found that the tuna steak appetizer was slightly overcooked (not sure how) and had a fishy taste. The portion sizes of the food and what is charged for them doesn't really add up. If you add chicken to the pasta with marinara, you're looking at ~$28 for what is the equivalent of maybe 4 fork fulls of angle hair and a chicken nuggets worth of chicken. Its a leg up from Greggs or Chelos, but I would argue that Greggs and Chelos are probably a better value for a somewhat equivalent meal. The service staff do a great job and are attentive, which is the saving grace. Probably won't come back unless we get a gift card. read more

Absolutely loved our evening of dining at Meritage. Shannon, our wonderful server, was helpful and pleasant. Our party of three really enjoyed both the salads and the entrees . The pear gorgonzola salad was, as always, totally delicious. Our third guest was thrilled with his wedge salad - a really large portion and phenomenal with gorgonzola dressing! Two of us were delighted with a brand new special of the evening which was a tender and tasty Chicken Francaise, served with perfectly cooked string beans, red peppers and scrumptious mashed potatoes. We really hope that this dish will be added permanently to the menu. And as usual, the other entree was the meatlover's meat loaf served on mashed potatoes and topped with crispy onion rings. A friend recommended this place to us for date night. The restaurant itself is located off of Post Rd, permitting plenty of parking. It is quite nice inside with a large bar, ideal for casual dining, although customers tend to dress up a little nicer. The night started off well. Our waitress was very nice and we ordered the chicken parm meatballs, which came out right away and were tasty. However, we didn't get our entrees for at least 45 minutes afterward. There was clearly a mix-up in the kitchen and we must have been the unlucky table. We ordered the swordfish and the baked potato pizza, which tasted okay, not great. Clearly prepared and brought out in a rush for us. With this in mind, not a great experience this time around, but I'm willing to give them another shot sometime. Please - for clarity purposes - change the name or description of the "fresh tomato & mozzarella pizza". For the rest of the pizza eating world, this usually indicates that the pizza is being made with fresh tomatoes and mozzarella being used to make a cooked pizza. A cheese flatbread with stacks of cold sliced tomatoes and mozzarella would be better identified as a Caprese pizza. If you are not going to cook the top 2 ingredients from a pizza description, you really need to tell people because I, for one, never would have wasted $20 ordering it. read more

My fifth stop on a Sunday filled with pizza tasting as I endeavored to finish off the Rhode Island food fights 'Lord of the pies' challenge; this was actually my third attempt at stopping in to this restaurant since I had been deterred to previous times due to wait times. Tonight, however we got lucky showing up 30 minutes after they opened and found four seats at the bar, with multiple bartenders on staff we did not have to wait long for our drinks. We definitely went outside our respective normal orders here and we went with the baked potato pizza and the spicy sausage and broccoli. When they came up, the reviews were definitely mixed between my party, and there was a certain uniqueness to the baked potato pizza, and the sausage was definitely lacking on the spicy sausage. The pizza itself had more of a consistency like an oversized pita bread as it was very crispy , not bad, but definitely not Neapolitan or New York style pizza. Overall, these pizzas seem like a weird selection for by all appearances what is a very upscale fine dining restaurant-as I found myself watching other dishes of food come out that looked absolutely delicious. I think I am more intrigued at the prospect of coming back here and having a more traditional dinner, the setting and tone and ambience of this place was easily one of the nicest stops I've made during this pizza quest. My boyfriend and I went here for dinner and it was amazing! The pizza was an extremely generous side and the crust was perfectly crispy and thin. The calamari was so crispy and the breading was perfectly light. The service was also great, the servers are attentive and always happy to accommodate any modifications. Not what it used to be.. I've come here for years - would make a point to stop in when I came home. I ordered the steak which used to be the best. It was cooked rare, ordered medium. I asked for it to be heated just a touch more, it came back char-broiled and unedible. disgusting really. Like you could get at a cookout - cooked on coals. The server knew it. So he comped a lot of things like desert, but then gave us caffeinated coffee with dessert when we ordered decaf. Also - we came for an anniversary and they stuck us in the corner. Bad seating here is really uncomfrotable. Some tables in awkward positions just shouldn't be used. There's no reason to come here anymore sadly. read more

We went in for Happy Hour on a Wednesday night and was able to try a bunch of the appetizers. Happy Hour is from 4:30-6:00 PM daily and after 9:30 in the Lounge only. We started with the nachos with chicken and they were amazing...tons of melted cheese, extra salsa, and plenty of toppings. I would have to say these are the best nachos around, especially for $7.00 @ Happy Hour. Next, the Tuna Napoleon $9....Very good Clams Portuguese was excellent...6 little necks, cooked perfectly with a broth with chucks of chourico served over crostini. Ask for extra bread! We also ordered the grilled chicken teriyaki skewers. They were cooked to perfection, tender, juicy and tasty...we just didn't have enough room to in the three of us to finish them all. The nacho platter was huge...nicely heated in the oven with lots of toppings...the chips used were kind of thin and not too flavorful, but everything else was really good.
