Absolutely wonderful experience at L'Osteria tonight with friends. Quaint little restaurant in Cranston that has a small bar and about 12 tables.... plus they had 4 tables on the sidewalk. The service by Michaela was fantastic. She was so friendly and attentive!! The food was delicious from our Caesar Salad which was very tasty. My wife and I shared a full order and I so enjoyed it, I ordered another half order. My Veal Chop Marsala was awesome! My wife truly enjoyed her Gnocchi and my friends clean his plate with his Chicken piccata. His wife loved her Chicken with white beans. We each shared a dessert. We got a tiramisu and my friend and his wife enjoyed a crème brûlée. Overall 5 star! I will be back and I highly recommend it. read more

Tiny little restaurant that's been in the Knightsville neighborhood for decades. Some friends invited us out to join them for dinner and this is a new pick for them. This place have have around 8 tables and fit up to 25. They do have a few more tables outside for the alfresco dining in warmer temperatures. The table was a challenge to accommodate 4 people so there was no room to even set our dishes down. Not a good place if you're a larger person or claustrophobic. Phenomenal restaurant all around! Although the restaurant is a little on the small side, their service and food are fantastic. We started with the sauteed calamari which were tender and delicious. Both our meals were a good size and made well. Lastly, we ended with their homemade tiramisu, which is well worth the wait. The last time we ate here they had run out of their well-known dessert, but so glad we were able to enjoy a piece this time. The ambiance is quaint with Italian music & Frank Sinatra playing in the background. Cute little Italian restaurant. Very homey feel, owner present and attentive to customers. I got the seafood tagliatelle it had a very good flavor. My husband got the Vitello Gamberini. He substituted penne with pink sauce for the mashed/veg. The only complaint he had was he felt his portion size was small. This last time we had dinner, we decided to try their salad and pasta. We shared the Arugula salad and the Pasta bolognese. Both were very good, the salad had a light lemon vinaigrette that was not too strong nor too acidic. The pasta had a light bolognese sauce with lots of pieces of ground meat. It was delicious. Service seemed very rushed and not as good as it could be. it was a Saturday night, the place was pretty busy, but still, service can be friendly, smiley and warm.....each customer is there to help your business grow. Went in with a few of my friends, the atmosphere was fine. We had a 7:30 reservation and got seated right away however it took 15 minutes for our waitress to come over to us. When she came she asked us if we were ready to order nor did she introduce herself when she hadn't told us about the specials or asked us if we wanted something to drink. We then order salads as an appetizer and they took around 25 minutes, not terrible. However we were ignored for that whole time and then when we finally put our food in it took a total of 1 hour for our food. We were checked on once and it was very brief with a minimal apology. Our food finally came out around 9:20 when we were seated at 7:30!!!! We asked to speak to the manager and the owner ended up coming over. We explained to him that's the service was minimal and the food took extremely long. We approached him very kindly and respectful. He then proceeded to ask us if we work in a restaurant with that small of a kitchen. His excuse continued with if we want good food it's going to take longer. He went on saying he doesn't know what we want him to do. We never once asked for anything taken off the bill or any sort of discount. He was completely rude and we were completely neglected even though we were all adults. He then told us it isn't "fast food" and began talking down to us and told us the food was quality while we had to send the food back because it was cold. Then proceeded to bring a fresh dish back in under 10 minutes which is strange see our original food took over an hour. I'm not one to normally leave a negative review however everyone in my party agreed this was unacceptable and were completely talked down to most likely because we looked younger. This was our first time here after driving past it many, many times. They always seem busy ( at least the sidewalk tables are always taken), so I'm sure you would need reservations on a weekend. The restaurant is small and had only a few seats at the bar and about 12 tables inside. We went on a Tuesday after discovering the restaurant we were planning on going to is closed on Tuesdays!! Because we were eating later than we normally would, we did not get an appetizer, but awesome bread and a cannellini bean spread were placed on the table. The only waitress on tonight told us that there would be a bit of a wait as they were down several cooks, but the bartender and the owner/ or manager was always present and available. Our food came, and smelled wonderful, and both our meals tasted great. My husband had veal with shrimp- tasty, but there were only two shrimp. I had chicken with artichokes and mushrooms, which were definitely scarce and disappointing. Both came with a small amount of mashed potatoes which were good, and green beans with little flavor. We don't think we would hurry back here, but we had talked about trying L'Osteria many times, and would try it again at some point. read more

We went in a Tuesday night, there was one server ( a lovely woman) she was very busy. We brought 2 kids which was probably a mistake as it was a very long wait. I had the special cod and it was perfect! We also had a Caesar salad which had to much dressing. The penne pesto was also overly sauced and tasted of overwhelming basil. ( I would request way less sauce). The gnocchi was good however it was mostly chunks of cheese. And the bolognese was so salty, none of us could eat it. The bread was wonderful and came with a white bean dip that was outstanding. Hopefully Tuesday night are an off night . Maybe it would be better on a weekend. read more

The dish itself was very good, However the beef inside the ravioli was like hamburger. Strange #2 I ordered the pesto chicken pasta. This dish was really good. Aldente pasta, wonderful pesto cream sauce, However the dish says grilled chicken and there was virtually no chicken in the dish. The dish had a few tiny little shards of chicken, like they cut up 1/8 of a chicken breast in tiny little pieces. I have now enjoyed the fine food at L'Osteria Ristorante more then 20 different times! From simple pasta dishes, to more elaborate specials. Everything is prepared properly and consistently. I personally love to sit at the bar and have a couple appetizers and a glass of red wine! I recommend the antipasto to start with and from there, you cannot go wrong. Ordered mussels for an appetizer and actually received 6 mussels over cannellini beans, if I ordered beans, I would have done so but I ordered mussels, not to mention the fact that this was $15.95, told the bartender that I would like her to tell the owner that was in the kitchen, basically that this was a complete ripoff, he never came to us at the bar to discuss this or offer to take it off the bill, offer a drink or a dessert, just ignored the whole thing, until we were leaving and I told him how disappointed I was and he actually followed us outside to say that he didn't need to hear that...REALLY? What a lovely little restaurant in the middle of Knightsville. I had heard about this place but did not have an opportunity to try it for myself until last week. We were greeted at the door and noticed that it was a small restaurant with not too many tables but several of them were empty. We were seated at a table right next to the bar. The bar is very small, may be 6 seats but very noisy. The group that was at the bar was a noisy group and I have to say that that detracted from our experience there. The service was good although we ordered a second round of drinks and finished our meal before they arrived. Our server though brought us a second round and did not charge us for the drinks as she felt that it was the fault of the restaurant that we were not able to enjoy that second round. That was appreciated but unnecessary. I had gnocchi which I am hesitant to get in the United States since I enjoyed it in Italy where it is so fresh and light but I was convinced to try it here and I was not disappointed. It did come from Venda ravioli which is another place that we enjoy and it was excellent. The marinara sauce was excellent although it had a lot of garlic which I tasted for a long time afterwards. But I enjoy garlic and it had that nice kind of thick lumpy consistency of marinara that I associate with homemade sauce. The only dessert that they make in house was tiramisu which they were out of so that was disappointing but all in all it was a very good meal and I would go back. read more

Just had a wonderful dinner at L'osteria with my cousin Steve. We started off with the squid which was excellent not fried but grilled with a light lemon sauce. We shared a pesto pizza which had a thin crust with a very nice pesto sauce. Finally we both shared broccli rabe which was excellent. We sat at the bar and had an opportunity to speak with the owner and her son. The mother was born in Italy in the Caserta region of Italy, between Naples and Rome, where many of the citizens of Knightsville are from My family is also from the region.
