I haven't been to Burger Carte in Smithers in 7 or 8 months because of some bad experiences…read more However, I've been seeing some really good reviews lately on Facebook. I decided to give Burger Carte another chance. I've been a customer all of my life. It was a staple of my childhood. I'm glad I stopped in today. The food was excellent. The hotdog was good. The slaw was nice and sweet. My Big Gene was messy but super yummy. Big Gene special sauce was just like it used to be back in the day. Oh and my mushrooms were the best I've had in a very long time. perfectly cooked and plenty of them! I'm a big ranch dressing girl. Ranch can tell you a lot about a restaurant. This ranch was delicious. Very good. Way to go, Burger Carte!! #fyp #foryoupage

We used to eat here all the time but recently they've changed their staff. Now it's complete CRAP!…read moreThe big gene had ZERO taste and very little sauce (it was GROSS), and the cheese sticks were severely over cooked to the point all the cheese had bursted out. We called them to let them know and was told we could get our order replaced. Well.... we even called ahead to make sure they still had our name down for a replacement so we wouldn't waste gas going All the way there. They advised us they would but when we got there they said it had been too long and they wouldn't replace anything! It's been less than 2 weeks ago! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone! It's went to total CRAP! it's new name is should be BURGER CRAP!

The set up is hilariously insane, worth the stop alone. The cashier was fun and friendly, and the graffiti in the women's room was inspiring! I have a basic bitch stomach, so got the "Puppy" with just ketchup. Sproßling got the Mothman, garnished with I believe onion rings and 1000 Island. Husband got his smothered in jalapeños. We split a full size onion rings, which were hot and tasty. We all had Gold Peak tea. The dogs tasted great, if I had a normal stomach I would have gotten a second one. As it was, we were in and out and back on the road quick as a wink!

Well this place is not a place you are going to pass by on the way to anywhere you would travel…read more Our really good friends (the husband who recently passed) is from West Virginia and they spoke of this place. We planned a trip to Williamsburg, VA over the week after Christmas. Coming from SoIN/Louisville KY area we are going I-64 E. About 200 miles later (and about 20 miles round trip out of the way) we ended up at Hillbilly Hot Dogs. So about the food... you'll see the pics of the dogs we ordered. Not fantastic hot dogs, but a good experience. The service was impeccable. If you left a tip the cashier sang a song. She had a really nice voice too! This place has a 3 choices for huge hot dogs with a couple of pounds of toppings. The Homewrecker, the Widowmaker, and Pick Yer Wrecker. We saw a guy and his wife eating one as we were leaving, and it was epic. It was a fun place to go to see some the nostalgia in the "old-time" things hanging as the decor.

This is my favorite Mexican place of all time, and I've been to MANY Mexican restaurants, from…read moreRipley, Spencer, Summersville, Montgomery, Charleston, Oak Hill, and down to Beckley and even into Virginia. I went to college right across the street from this restaurant a few years ago, and we'd eat here once a week, and before that I'd been eating there with my family for years. This is the only place I've come across who gives you not only great food, but most importantly, enough cheese sauce to make it worth the price, and my favorite part, their salsa. It's a salsa unlike any other. They must clearly make it themselves. It's not like watery liquid with chunks of tomatoes, onions, peppers, etc... no. This is much more. It's like a purée, made from the essence of dreams and good fortune, yet you can clearly taste every ingredient that went into making it. Not spicy, not sweet, not tangy, but perhaps a small mixture of them all? It's the only salsa I could, dare I say it, drink, quite literally. It's simply fabulous. Now, last year they went through a bit of a change, I'm assuming a switch in management and/or ownership, because things started to change a bit. They got new menus, new cooks that made things a little strangely, and the worst part was the new booths. They're so tall that you have to lean down and over your food to eat it. It's terribly awkward. They have one of the old booths left, and us locals know right where it is and always go straight for it. So anyway, the food is still good, not what it used to be but still better than anything else I've tried. The salsa has also changed a little too, it's a little spicier, and has so much cilantro in it I could choke. I definitely miss the good ol' days, but it's still an awesome restaurant, one that we make trips to Montgomery just for. I wish they'd expand to Beckley, and bring back the old salsa.
