they have gone to mostly appointments. they are usually nice. as some of the reviews they some times are a little disorganized with the flow, but alton and del are good barbers. i don't wanna marry em just have a quick buzz cut. so i like it. Frankie owns all of the credit, and all of the blame, for tipping me off about this great shop. Or should I say, shame. Shame on you, Frankie, you've ended a relationship I've enjoyed with My Barber for the better part of 15 years. My Barber, downtown, is Leonard, he's great, and now that I've moved west of the river, My Barber simply isn't a smart choice for my headshop needs -- which arise every three weeks, or so. So yeah, Frankie, this review is the result of guilt, shame and the grief of losing a loved one, and so I'd like to thank you, my friend. The basics of Taylor'd Ranch (hey, that shear is a snippy name, guys!): Olde school barbershop, with serious chops (buh dum bum). Four barbers in the house, so you won't wait long, even on a busy Friday afternoon. The guy that started it all, Alton, has a huge fanbase, you'll be lucky to get in his seat, but no worries, he hires talented dudes and you'll get a great cut, regardless. My last visit, the place was packed with all kinds: firemen and EMTs, old and young, potty-mouths and reserved, proper lads. They do 'em all, including a hot shave and a splash of manly scent, at possibly the best price in town. *Though the biz is, technically, credit card friendly, there is an extra charge and you're better off hitting the ATM in the parking lot. So adieux, My Barber, Leonard, I will always recommend your shop -- Justin Tyme -- for the downtown crowd. And thanks, Frankie, for pointing me in the right direction for the next 15 years. This is based on my first time visiting this place today. Some of the shops west of the Rio seem to tangible examples of mirages in this desert. After driving around to two other places that are no longer in business I was hoping my third attempt on my odyssey wasn't gonna end up being reminiscent of an episode of Ghost Chasers. Welcome to where I get my haircut from now on. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with genuinely friendly smiles and a barber available for business. Alton had me sit down in his chair, asked me what I wanted, and I regaled him with the tale of my odyssey as he chopped off my desert-dry mop top to something presentable. Personally, as far as barbers go, I had to learn how to converse while I'm in the chair. I'm the silent type but I luckily have a lifelong barber friend who I used to go to and get comfortable with before I moved. Most barbers tend to sorta force conversation as a means of entertainment and getting to know their customer's tastes and preferences, a sort of personal touch that I initially couldn't get used to. Alton was one of the few barbers I ever had that was quietly charismatic enough not to feel that our conversation was forced in any way. His service was prompt, professional, and my cut was clean. This is place is falsely advertised as ($$). I'm not sure if this is an absolute or relative rating but the haircut and a shave cost me only $13. I still don't know how much time I spent there but it felt like I was only there for a few minutes before he pulled at the hand mirror and took the cape off of me. As I'm reading the other Yelp reviews on the side, Alton seems like he consistently receives his accolades and is more customer-oriented than most I've experienced in my life. Alton, the owner, gave me the best haircut I've had in a long time and even did it faster than the previous barber I was going to. I was scheduled for 9 AM and we were done just slightly before 9:10! They have a nice, relaxed, clean little shop here, and I could easily walk to it from my apartment in minutes. Will definitely go back! read more

Wonderful barbershop! I always go to Eric for my hair cuts. Eric is always professional and friendly. This place is very popular in the Taylor Ranch area so you might have a little wait, but it is definitely worth it. I've been to many other barbers in ABQ before trying this one and I will never to go another one. Great with all ages! read more

This shop has no respect or consideration for peoples time. I guess being older and white is a bad thing at this shop. I had an appointment for 11, even confirmed it. Showed up 10 min early and at 1120 was sill waiting, with no acknowledgment that I was there. No apology or anything. Don't go to this shop if you are old and white. Hands down the best barber shop on the west side. I've been a regular for about a year now. Alton (owner) has treated me like a long lost friend, not just a customer, since day one. The quality of his hair cut is perfect and on point each and every time I've come in. His philosophy is "it doesn't matter what kind of day he's having, good, bad, whatever...quality has to be consistent...and it has to be consistently good." He's been true to his word. Eric, who is the 2nd in command barber, is willing to strike up a conversation about whatever. I've got $5 that you can't out talk this dude about cars...new school, old school, dude is on his game. There's always something cool to watch on a large flat screen tv (family appropriate) or some oldies or classic rock playing in the background. Pricing is better then most and they accept credit cards. There's plenty of comfortable seating available if there is a wait. Oh, and if you are a 9-5 guy like myself that comes in during your lunch break, they use a vacuum system after your cut to make sure you are office appropriate before leaving. I wish I could give 10 stars. I walked in and waited about 5min. Every person getting a hair cut or in the waiting room was treated like family. They remembered everyone's name and kept the conversation PG-13. No locker room talk, very respectful. I have very thick hair and had a hell of a time trying to style it. Alton got me hooked up! Went here this morning, just moved to the area and was in need of a hair cut. Fantastic hair cut is what I got. Daisha was awesome the whole time, good conversation and she was very much detail oriented. Gave me a hair cut and a beard trim and knocked both out of the park. Great pricing too. I've had great experiences getting my haircut here up until recently. Quite frankly the guy who cut my hair should be fired. I walked in with sort of messy hair and right off the jump I could tell my haircut was gonna be rough. The whole time the guy was cussing like crazy talking about how bs it was that I came in with a knot in my hair. He asked how much I wanted off the top and I said half an inch. For some reason the guy was incompetent enough to give me the worst haircut I've ever had. He took the fade of my hair on the right side all the way up into the middle of my head. I've got about 3 inches of hair on one half. And the other half of the top of my head is about 1/2 an inch. The way he talked to me was terrible and I told him I was done 4 or 5 times before he finally stopped and got all pissed off at me. He just kept cutting and cutting. Terrible. Every other barber in there is hands down amazing and in my times going to the barbershop I had never seen this barber before but it was probably for the better. He was awful. Next time I go I'll be requesting for anyone but him. read more
