Mujaddara plate (lentil rice pilaf, hummus, pickled salad)

Ambiance is quaint. It feels like a decent, small sit down spot but it wasn't necessarily giving off a particular ambiance. Service was a bit odd. There were large parties when we went, but it was not super busy. As we were looking for food in the neighborhood, we walked in on a whim with no reservation. Our server brought us to a table, told us we had an hour before they needed the table for their next reservation. That was fine, however, after we ordered, they never came back to check in with us or tell us that the food would take a while. As we only had an hour to sit there, 30 minutes were spent waiting, guessing, hoping our food would come soon. The redeeming factor of this experience was delicious food! We enjoyed our Mujaddara plates and managed to scarf down our meal within the half hour we actually had. Would recommend the food here but make a reservation or get it to go. The sit in experience was not the best experience, given the time limit for the table.

I was SUPER impressed by the Dip Trio, and their in-house chips are also drool worthy. I had leftover Crispy Cauliflower, and they were really good after a few minutes in the air fryer. They have super friendly staff and cute pink tables for dining in. They also offer vegetarian, vegan, halal, dairy-free, nut-free and gluten-free option, and they also cater. -Chicken Fatteh ($26): super creamy, and I think there are chips inside (gets soggy, but does add texture). Chicken is tender, on a bed of rice. -Slow Cooked Lamb ($29): tad bit dry, but the flavour was good. -Tabbouleh ($14): one of the best tabbouleh I've tried! So fresh. -Crispy Cauliflower ($15): loved this! -Dip Trio $20 (Hummus, Mutabbal (Eggplant) & Mhammara (Red Pepper) Dip) 10/10 -Arabic Coffee $8 (2 servings): Cardamom spiced! if that's your thing. Comes in a pot, and can pour a few mini shot-glass sized cups of coffee. Super cute experience.

We came here for a special Lebanon fundraiser where they offered Fatteh which was not on the menu. The place is very cozy inviting and bustling - clearly a favorite. Waiters are great, friendly and informative. The appetizers are amazing and we ordered lots of them. - fried cauliflower - this was SOOO good that we had to order an extra order!! - Mutabbal, hummus and red tomato dip - the dips and the pita were both excellent. The Mutabbal has such a great eggplant flavour. - Fatteh - special of the day, great chickpea flavour. - kibbeh - probably my favorite besides the cauliflower. Really good meat flavour and texture. We ordered two mains only since we ate lots of appetizers. The lamb and the kebab (beef balls). They are both good, though I found the meat slightly dry. Portions are bigger than it appears as 5 of us just finished. Also had the lady bracelet dessert which is like baklava. Pretty good. Rice pudding is good too. Would definitely come back. Solid Syrian/Middle Eastern food.

Ordered catering from here and it was soooo good! Definitely a crowd pleaser and large portions. Beef kebab was sooo good and hummus as well. The chicken breast skewers were a bit dry but I did enjoy how large the pieces were.

Heard about this catering company turned restaurant and we were intrigued! Last night they held a fundraiser (raising funds for Lebanon) and we tried so many of their appies and dinner plate and dessert. So many beautiful flavours, great service and the food came out very quick. We had Knafeh (cheese with syrup) and it was amaaaaaazing. Will be back & looking forward to their next board games night

Outstanding in every way this place is set to take off located as it is across the two large developments that Kitsilano has been waiting years for. The place itself is small cozy & welcoming the service outstanding and the food ambrosial-Syrian food is said to be the Best in the Middle East and just a few tastes will show you why.

We had the $25 platter. Good food and friendly hosts. The best falafel I've had in 30 years!

Updating this review a year later to reiterate everything I shared last time!…read more We enjoyed a quick lunch on the patio with the cold and hot mezza samplers. Delicious to the very last bite with flavor throughout and spices to chase. Jose was our server this round and was very attentive and friendly. He steered us in the right direction for the right amount of food for two people. Would absolutely recommend this beautiful Lebanese kitchen for appetizers, lunch and dinner we will return!

My coworker and I came here on a Saturday afternoon, we got a reservation ahead of time and I'm glad we did because this place was pretty busy. We got their aperol spritz for drinks which was very refreshing, would recommend this for the summer. For food, we got their dip platter and chose their hummus, labne, and baba ghannouj. My coworker was gluten-free so they were very nice to give us some gluten free chips instead of the bread with the dips. We also got their halloumi fries which came with a pomegrante dipping sauce - I LOVED IT! The halloumi fries were cooked so well! We also got their prawns which were really fresh and delicious. I would definitely come back! Their hummus was so good, it's for sure a very authentic Lebanese spot.

A very tiny yet highly acclaimed restaurant in Vancouver near Yaletown-Roundhouse SkyTrain station…read more We stumbled upon this place while walking right at opening, so we got first pick at one of the 3 tables for dine-in. Definitely try to go at opening or when it is not busy, as the dine-in experience is memorable - they place your order in a long wooden board to make it a beautiful spread. We got the Manoush'eh Special which has ground beef, pomegranate, etc and Sham Style which is shaped like a boat. We also tried the yogurt drink which pairs well with the dishes. The only con is that this place does not have free water, but it is no problem to have our own water bottles supplementing the meal. We also got the lentil soup which is pretty good. Definitely sufficient to share one to try, but the Manoush'eh outshines the rest of the items. I loved the quality and texture of the Manoush'eh and just the breads in general. It is a lot of food for 2 people so if you want a snack, you can definitely just share 1. Some people go here for the wraps too. Overall, an affordable restaurant with good food. We got the most expensive items and it was less than 50 CAD all-in, but a lot of the items are around the 10 CAD mark.

The texture was great, just a little on the oily side. The charred beef had a nice Chinese wok-style flavour, paired with a giant tandoor bread--really interesting combo! Both hot drinks were solid, but I especially loved the cinnamon latte. It really warmed me up.

The interior of the restaurant was also very nicely decorated. I do think Saba Foods is fancier than other places I've been to while exploring new cuisines and I personally prefer a more casual dining experience. As for the food, the portion sizes were very generous (though I did see other diners ordering individually). I shared the haneeth and saltah with a friend as well as got the kunafa and bint al sahen for dessert. The lamb was very tender and fell off the bone and the saltah came in a bubbling pot. I think the presentation of each dish was beautiful and was representative of its quality. My favourite dish was definitely the haneeth; it had a good combination of meat, rice, and vegetables. My reason for the missing star would be price point (total came around to $55 per person) as well as flavour as I'm used to having very flavorful dishes from other cuisines. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who hasn't tried Yemeni food before though!
