This place is such a hidden gem. Located near the silver comet trail inside of the Shells gas station. As soon as you walk in the smoky smell hits you and let's you know it's going to be good. I had the Dino beef rib and turkey rib. Since this was my first time Drew took his time to explain all the menu items and convince me into trying their turkey ribs. He said I wouldn't regret the decision and he was so right. The Dino beef rib was good but the turkey rib was bursting with flavor. Once I put my order in I was instructed to pay upfront and come back for my order. Once my order was ready I was greeted by Taylor who had such a great personality and packaged my food to send me on my way. I will be back to try the beef brisket that they sell out of. read more

I just received my everlasting life this evening on a whim! Funny story I walked in the convenience mart for a sugar free choco treat post a healthy vegan dinner. I smelled a delicious hint of cinnamon and the aroma got stronger and stronger leading me to the back of the mart. Following the long trace of steamy goodness lead me to a succulent, juicy, colorful, divine tray of peach 'tha bomb' cobbler! Mmmmm!!!! Being the foodie I am I leaned all into the counter as my pallet began salivating. To my surprise I was standing directly next to the grand masta' chef himself @chefshombe! I know I heard a voice but the aromas and food presentation clouded all five senses! Snapping out of my divine sight indulgence I was not only offered a free dish of the peach cobbler but a second free dish of the strawberry cream cake! I offered to pay however the amazingly talented & humble @chefshombe is about customer service first! He cares more about his repeat client than a quick cash out! I was very taken back by such impeccable professionalism. Not only did you stand here and cook the food but you give 100% to your visitors as well! Floored....That's what I'm talking about! Great taste and good sides,friendly staff. It would have been a 4, but beef ribs over cooked and tough.

Great place for BBQ. The rib sandwich is tender and generous with a sweet sauce. Even the fresh made sub sandwich is better than Subway or Publics. The sides are seasoned well and compliment the smoky meat. Next time I'll get the salmon salad when I can wait for it to be freshly cooked on the smoker. read more

I was here with my two daughters and grand daughter. We rode pass and said we are not eating in no gas station. I started reading the reviews and we turned around and came back to this restaurant. Service here today was great! Was having a rough day, but the 2 workers Dru & Kim. were great! The food was amazing! The pulled pork was seasoned very well and had that bbq taste, as well as the ribs. The potato salad was pretty sweet, the yams were great, corn bread was soft & sweet, and the macaroni was really good. It was located inside of the gas station, so I was a little confused on where to order at. A kids menu would be good! Also turkey ribs would be good to sell everyday. I will definitely be back and I've been spreading the word already. read more

OK, I love barbecue. But a gas station is NOT the place I would normally go to eat, much less eat barbecue. However, after a long walk on the Silver Comet Trail, my 6 year old was famished. We saw the gas station, and thought we'd stop in quickly and grab some chips or something. But that smell of barbecue got to me. I decided to give it a try. So glad I did! The pork barbecue sandwich was plenty big enough for both of us, and was delicious. They only had one type of sauce, but it was a perfect mix of sweetness with just a little kick. The mac and cheese was so good. The Brunswick stew was sweet, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Drew was exceptionally friendly, as was the girl behind the counter. I will definitely be back! read more

Ok BBQ in a gas station .. only in Georgia....first off , this is basically a take out.. no tables or place to eat except for two picnic tables outside. The food was fantastic. First the good...Loved the turkey ribs.. and the BBQ sauce is perfect...little sweet, little spicy.. pork was good, smoked sausage great.. potato salad was soso, tasted like Kroger or publix.. Cole slaw was good and fresh. Mac and cheese looked great, regret not trying it...the bad.. process of ordering, paying and getting food was pretty onerous.. took about 20 min and we were the only ones there until people started coming in.. . Still worth a trip to Austell and with a little tweaking this place can be the best BBQ in town. Please please open a full service restaraunt... read more

Something important and spiritual and cosmically significant just happened to me, and I need to share the experience. I walked into a gas station BBQ spot and my life changed. When I talk about my life to friends from now on, there will only be two times: the time BEFORE TDT BBQ, and the time after. First, let me clear something up. This is not really a gas station BBQ spot. This is a BBQ spot that happens to be connected to a gas station. One conjures up images of lukewarm meat under heat lamps next to slushies and hot dogs, and the other is REAL AND AUTHENTIC SMOKED MEAT FRESH OFF THE COALS. Shombe greeted and WELCOMED me as I approached his counter. I ordered, we had a couple of laughs, and I collected my HEAPING PORTIONS of takeout and drove home. When I opened up the boxes at home, the smell.... it was like that cartoon where the aroma of something literally lifts the character off the ground and floats them to where the food is. This happened to my 6yo daughter when she caught a whiff. What happened next can only be described as a murder scene because of all the bones... My daughter and I DEMOLISHED wings, ribs, mac & cheese, and green beans! The dry rub was amazing but not over-powering, the pork ribs were melt-in-your-mouth tender. And Shombe cooks the wings WHOLE. Yes, WHOLE wings. I ordered 10, but ended up with what I would have previously described as 20. I do not say this lightly, so get ready (read my other reviews for reference)... This is easily the best BBQ I have ever had. Beats DBA, Williamson Bros, Fox Bros, Jim N Nicks... you name it. Yum! Yum! Delicious BBQ and sides. The chef is from Arkansas and knows real BBQ. The ribs are fall-off-the-bone good and the sides and desserts are amazing. Try those collards for a real treat. I have never had greens that good. There is some ingredient that I can't pick out that makes them so flavorful. The strawberry cobbler was full of fruit and pastry, not just a lot of liquid. This was my first time eating there and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants real food with the flavor that only a professional can give. Go there! Now! read more

So I came here Friday looking for a good BBQ spot and saw this was close so I decided to give it a shot, despite the mixed reviews...I wish I would've steered clear! (*I will post pics as soon as able) I ordered a Combo meal with pulled pork and leg quarter, mac & cheese and yams for sides. The pulled pork was bland and gristly but the sauce made what meat I could savage ok BUT the chicken I took a big bite and see it was PINK inside-like wth?! Under cooked! PASS! Then the sides: I could smell the nutmeg exuding from the closed top cup the yams were in and still decided to try it- it tastes like someone dumped a whole bottle in there, so spicy my son spit it out and grabbed his throat like he was choking lol, I mean you could even clearly VISUALLY tell it was too much on there! And the mac n' cheese was just..no.. the cheese on top was so hard and inedible so I'm assuming it had been just sitting for however long and everything under the cheese crust was blah-no cheesy noodles no taste/seasoning, just horrible sauce. The only thing was the sauce was ok sweet and spicy like I like but had nothing to put it on after this travesty of a "meal". read more
