March 1st comes she's sends me 3 men 2 in which can barely walk up a flight of stairs without passing out. The one guy comes up stairs before even looking at anything and says this is too much goes downstairs starts packing up and LITERALLY COMES OUT HIS MOUTH AND SAYS FIGURE IT OUT AND CALL THE OFFICE WE'RE LEAVING. on the 1st of the month mind you .. We have moved several times over the years and usually there is always some "hiccup". Over charges, poor staff and loading/unloading to name a few. This was not the case with TDY last week. AJ Baker set up the entire contract, kept in touch and went the extra mile. The staff showed up on time, did the job in a short period of time and unloaded it after getting to the warehouse. There was no up charges, no mention of hidden fees or issues moving from A to B. I highly recommend them if your looking for a moving company. read more

Scammers... was quoted $285 to move a bed from Bushwig to Harlem.. The dudes tried to say it took 3 HOURS + 30 min waiting time? I checked the traffic it was a 50min journey & my old room mate said it took them less than 10 mins to pick everything up. UPDATE: after I wrote this review and also emailed to say I hadn't yet received the refund, Adam said my 1-star review violated the "settlement" I agreed to (it was literally just an email saying they would refund me $200, they didn't say anything about a settlement or not leaving a review) and that he wouldn't give me the refund until I deleted the review. I said I would not delete the review in exchange for the money... so then he asked me how much money I wanted him to send me in order to make me a "satisfied customer" so I could leave a better review. That seems really dishonest to me! Like he's trying to buy a better review from me? I wasn't willing to negotiate, so I told him to send me whatever he thought was fair and that I would update the review. He sent me $375. The extra refund is nice, but this seems like a strange way to do business! read more

Let me start by saying the booking process and Sara in particular were great. Unfortunately the moving process went downhill from there. There were several issues with my move: 1) hired 4 movers, only 3 showed up due to miscommunication 2) one didn't wear a mask despite rules in my building 3) two of the employees argued repeatedly throughout the move about where to put things, how to assemble. Very unprofessional and as a result, damaged one of my pieces 4) two bedroom pieces less than a year old were damaged by the wrapping You would think that the lead/manager/owner Adam, would be apologetic about the above. Instead he was very nonchalant, first offered nothing then 3 cents per pound and acted like he was doing me a favor. Including when I described how two of the movers fought over how to assemble a marble table top with one leaving the other holding the heavy item. I was concerned it would drop. Well, guess what? There is a large chip on a very expensive table despite my repeated urging to be careful as it was fragile. Any company with professionalism would be embarrassed that two employees were arguing and as a result damaged a client's pieces thousands of dollars in damages. All this and I tipped them well, got the sodas, etc. I will never, ever recommend this company and if you like your furniture would suggest you look elsewhere. read more

Local move, Bronx to North Westchester. Bad from start to finish. We were overcharged for their inexperience, furniture ruined and 60 year old molding and refinished floors destroyed! Movers were 90 minutes late, the back door on the truck wouldn't open so everything was loaded and unloaded on the truck through a small side door. In my experience, all big furniture goes in first, not with these clowns! It looked like a mess. Then they proceed to tell us everything wouldnt fit, good job surveying, charged me for another trip. Even though we told them all boxes and bags that didn't fit could be taken in our pick up truck. The worst part, they scratched up my new wood floors by dragging furniture, I have damages on two pieces of furniture ( so far, that I know of ). For the price they charged me, the conditions in which they performed the work... disgusting! STAY AWAY. read more

This company is horrible. My husband used this company 2 weeks ago to move the rest of his things into a property we purchased recently. They originally quoted us $1300 to move a 1 bedroom apartment and later tried to charge $2700 by the end of the move. 3 movers showed up, one had liquor on his breath. Was visibly disoriented and under the influence. They practically begged for a tip after he made it clear multiple things were damaged during the move. I reached out to the company and still have not gotten a response. We are still unpacking and just realized that our TV was cracked. The owner has yet to reach out to my husband regarding the damages. We try our best to support small companies but this entire experience was a 0/10 and we will not ever be using this company moving forward or referring it to any of our friends and family. I will also be reporting this company to the better business bureau and anyone else who will listen until we are compensated for our losses. This is unfair and unacceptable. read more

Update just to clarify a few things for the business owner Mr. Mike: "Packing a TV with cardboard and a blanket is more secure than simply placing into a box" - Really? This is not our first interstate move and for some reason only TDY moving just wraps TV with a blanket. Not sure if its really more secure compared to a special TV box from Uhaul or Home Depot that allows extra space between a screen and a cardboard rather than direct contact and a potential pressure on the screen from outside. If it's so secure then why a guy who delivered the belongings was surprised with this way you decided to "secure" the TV?! And BTW the question about TV box (NOT a blanket) was mentioned at least on 3 occasions to your representatives. It never happened probably because TDY "cares" too much... Anyways, moving on to the next of your "not true" points. Please do not make any excuses because of COVID hardships... It's so interesting to see a trend when businesses blame covid for their sloppy job. You got our business long time before covid. And if you experience any hardship that directly affects your clients, you or your representatives should have a little bit of decency to keep in touch with your clients, providing honest updates and not just "well I'll call you later".. which in reality never happens. It is true that "cash upon delivery" is stated on your estimate and contract. However, if you have different payment options available, it is not a client job to figure it out asking you about it. So, perhaps, it would work better if TDY moving gives these options beforehand, unless you don't want your clients to explore other options. Maybe this is why when I asked about paying cash before even making sure that all my stuff came, your representative told that "cash upfront" prevents your company from not getting paid at the end. It's very strange to assume that someone is planning to do an interstate move with an idea to scam a moving company at the end. Trust your clients, as you want your clients to trust you. "Its a shame you never even had the decency to even call our office to give us the opportunity to make things right" - I spoke at least dozen times with your guys! "You have never spoken to me at all" - Mr. Mike please don't! We spoke twice. And when we have reached out to you with our concerns, the first thing you said to us "why are you calling me instead of a dispatcher?" and instead of trying to reassure your client (here is an opportunity to make things right!), you proceeded with how hard it is for you as well because you can't get your purchased oven to be delivered on promised time..... Really?! And after all of that you are saying about any "opportunity to make things right"?! Please make it right from the beginning. read more

I moved from a building in Bay Ridge recently and I was so impressed with TDY Movers. They were reasonably priced but, more importantly, were so efficient. They called me the day before my move to confirm, they called when they were within half an hour's drive and they got to my house just when they said they would. I would give ZERO stars if possible. Invariably the worst moving company around. I was moving from New York to Oklahoma, furniture and items from a studio apartment. When the movers showed up, several items were broken before even being packaged. Several shelves were broken and a bookcase shelf, all made from oak, which the mover then proceeded to blame on the nature of the wood, rather than his own heavy-handedness. We paid extra to have the items arrive on a certain date, with documentation to that effect. When it came time for delivery, not only did the movers not show up on the date agreed to, they did not show up the next day, or the next. When we contacted them and reminded them of the separate consideration paid for arrival, they said no such arrangement was made, even though it was written in the contract, signed by their team, and paid for. After continuing to contact them, they began to ignore our calls and emails, eventually emailing us to say that we should stop bothering them so often. A week after the paid-for delivery date, the truck arrived. Several items were damaged. Additionally, there is an extra fee for every foot beyond a certain distance the items have to be moved. Interestingly, that also included vertical feet up in the elevator, as my furniture was only being moved from the ground floor, up an elevator, and around a corner. This added an additional $350, which would only be accepted in cash. Did I neglect to mention that they held the items hostage on the truck, refusing to move them until we paid that cash up front? Because they did. After unpacking, I realized an antique, WWII gunto katana was missing. This is worth approximately $300-400. I called them the morning after they delivered to tell them this. They said they would contact the driver, who was still in the area, and get back to me. They never got back to me. Several emails and phone calls later, TDY (i.e. Adam) seemed annoyed that I was bothering him with my complaint. I never received the item, nor compensation. I am in law school, and had I had more experience with the law at the time, I would have filed a lawsuit. Potentially the worst movers out there. Do not use them unless you wanted damaged and lost items, lackluster delivery, and horrendous customer service. read more

Very satisfied with the service! Three guys showed up with a van and did an excellent job of wrapping things up so nothing got damaged and getting it out of one third floor walk-up to another third floor walk-up in 3 hours! Do not underestimate how much work this is! I thought I had a fairly small one bedroom but these guys worked super efficiently and quickly to get me moved and I honestly don't know how they were able to do it in 3 hours. For those who are estimating time/cost, these were the items I had moved: 1 sofa, 2 arm chairs, 4 dining chairs,1 large bookcase, 1 bed and frame, 1 large dresser, 3 side tables, about 30 boxes/bags and suitcases, 2 rugs, 1 tall lamp, tall shoe rack, and 1 standing mirror. The only minor snaffu was confusion over whether there was a minimum # of hours. There is a 3 hour minimum that they tell you about verbally but don't put in the quote. The day of, I didn't remember this and was annoyed that the movers were now saying there was a minimum of 4 hours. I called up the people I talked to and they said it was 3 so we settled on it being at least 3 - which turned out to be just right. Again, in the end, all I really cared about was that my stuff was moved safely, efficiently and more quickly than I would have imagined because the movers were VERY HARD WORKING. Shoddy company who over charges and underperforms. They damaged expensive pieces of furniture and the insurance is a joke. Company also padded the bill. Staff are overworked and underpaid. The owner makes a lot of money and tries to get you to pay his staff in large tips even after your items are damaged. Not happy with these movers. I used them this past December to move out of New York. Sales people were great in making the sale. When the movers came, the head guy mentioned the process after saying tipping was customary and how much it should be, which I felt was very unprofessional. I immediately called the distribution supervisor letting them know how I felt. They reiterated that i can tip how I felt the service was. What was I going to do, I needed to vacate so I continued. The whole time I was with the movers the head guys was telling me his sob story. I felt sorry for the other two guys that came with him. The other two worked hard and stuck to the job. In the end I tipped them more than they deserved, but did it incase they might have been rough with my stuff or quote on quote could have lost things in transit. I received my things in about two weeks which was good nothing lost. They delivery guys were better, worked hard and stuck to the job. One of the pieces was damage from the delivery which was packed by their New York team, the head guy! The delivery guys said they would let the office know and some will contact me in regards to that. Needless to say, I'm still waiting to hear back. If I didn't get a call by now, I doubt they will ever call. I will not be using or recommending them. Update: I received calls after the review was posted from the sales and distribution staff. They were both very apologetic about my experience with the team. I moved the rating up as I felt the sincerity in their words. Hopefully this will make future client experience better with the movers as in what is communicated to the client during the onsite move and communication process from the movers to management when there is damage to an item. read more

Updated post from yesterday: the day prior was supposed to be our moving day but because of certain circumstances with the company, it didn't happen. That's the only reason why I took off a star. Luckily, the company was pretty awesome about redeeming themselves. Apologized for the inconvenience and the actual moving crew arrived on time and went above and beyond our expectations today. All their efforts were truly appreciated. They didn't stop working from the time they arrived to the time they left. The move was seamless and I would highly recommend the crew that moved us today. Making the arrangements with AJ went very smoothly, and he was more flexible and nicer to deal with than other movers with a good review I'd almost used. He answered all my 3,225 questions with patience and good cheer. The move on 12/18/22, in the hands of the foreman John and helper, was efficient but not rushed. I was very pleased. The furniture has been in storage for almost 2 months, and when they bring it back on 12/5, I will have all new floors! I will be watching like a hawk, but truly believe John will do just as good a job as he did on 12/18. Of course if something doesn't go well, I'll update my review. read more

I cannot in good conscience recommend interstate moving by TDY. I moved from NY to Va. the last week of December. Their NY team was amazing but unfortunately for me the move was out of their control once it left NY. The job was subcontracted to a horrible company. From start to end there were issues, the owner made a note of my one staircase which was more, he said, than allowed but as long as I took care of "his men" after the job we could work it out. His staircase was 7 steps. My contract reads 13 which is what I signed and showed him. He said I had to go by what he said, that his contract overrode theirs. It took this team 3 hours to complete the unpacking of my things. The NY team took 8 hours to pack up my things, almost 196 items, boxes and furniture, I`m still carrying my things where they should have placed them to begin with. I sill have another move but WILL NOT be using TDY. read more

I scheduled a move with TDY at least three weeks in advance. Called multiple times to ask clarifying questions and modify schedule to a different date after the first of the month. Called to confirm the move a couple of times, once a week before and once the day before the move. The move was scheduled for 8am yesterday. We received a call from them at 7:58 am, two minutes before the move was supposed to begin saying that it was cancelled because one of the crew members tested positive for Covid the night prior. Obviously Covid is causing issue across industries however this is what made their service horrendous: 1) the last minute nature of the call, 2 minutes before the job was supposed to start shows lack of care of the position they put us in 2) lack of solution to find one other crew member to support move. It doesn't make sense for a company to not be able to operate if one of the crew isn't able to work 3) when I called to encourage them to find a solution for us, whoever was answering the phones was completely apathetic, did not demonstrate any proactiveness to correct the company's mistake, said "what do you expect me to do, I'm just sitting in an office", and then actually hung up the phone on me when I was trying to hold them accountable This was incredibly disappointing to leave us hanging such short notice when move outs and ins in nyc are so strict with little tenant control. We had used this company in the past, but will never again. read more

Absolute joke. First the guy forces us to give him a 13% tip based on the total of the move. (400$ tip) Then my stuff comes in two shipments, so I got half of each of my two beds - okay, I'll just sleep on my mattress on the floor until the rest of the bed frame gets here. NOPE. My king size mattress was SO soiled with mold and dirt that I had to throw it out. PLUS my bed frame was broken and soiled with dirt, so I had to spend over $3,000 on a new bed. Then they discovered that my second mattress (queen size) was also in bad shape (luckily they had it in their warehouse still since remember, there was two shipments) so they offered to send me a random extra brand new mattress they had lying around. (shady) Also broke a whole bunch of stuff, and I'm missing a few items, too. I should've read the contract that their insurance replaces "60 cents per pound" of items. My bad. I file a claim, am offered $125. I call TDY. They offer to double it. ($250 LOL) So now I'm out nearly $4,000 in damaged and missing items, plus I had to pay them to move my mattress and bed frame that they ruined. JOKE. NOTE: I'm not even a Yelper, but this has to be recognized. read more

Dont use these guys if you're traveling cross country. And dont make the mistake like I did for not buying additional insurance - I got $54 for a broken $600 bike, a cracked marble table, and movers damaging my staircase. There are no repercussions for the movers to be gentle with anything they do. They arrived with my boxes smashed, a couple of the hung clothes closet boxes upside down, the boxes smelled like old lockerroom, the guys were running in out and just throwing my stuff around like they were in a race. Had a very good experience with the fine movers at TDY moving. Sadik, Jason and Victor showed up EARLY for the move and got my stuff out of our place in no time. They were helpful in getting our boxes into our new place and were very careful with our stuff. Update 10/28/15: The owner Ed called me this morning and apologized profusely for what happened. Said he did not know about what was going on (the calls were not routed to him). Also vowed to improve the company's policy and give his number to all future customers so that they can contact him directly with concerns. I appreciated him reaching out and believe that he genuinely felt sorry for the way things were handled...seems like a sincere guy. He offered to refund part of our payment which we also appreciated. THAT'S good business. 10/27/15: I took a week to calm down before writing this review to reflect on my experience and hopefully write a more balanced review. I was moving from New York to Georgia and so researched moving companies since I had some furniture that I spent a lot of money on and I didn't want to risk friends helping me move them. I interviewed 3 companies and decided to go with TDY because the reviews online were great and the price was competitive. Well now I know the price was too good to be true. I had to change my move date several times which they accommodate without any problem. I continuously remind them of us not being available the first 5 days after moving for delivery and on Saturdays because it's our day of worship- this they said would not be a problem. Things started to go downhill on moving day as when they arrived they told us that the cost of the move would double from $1100 (what was initially quoted) to $2300!! because they did not know about a storage unit in the basement. I explicitly told the person about the storage unit and the approximate number of boxes there when she did the initial proposal (she did not have time during her evaluation to see it...in hindsight I should have insisted she see it). Given that we were now in a time crunch we stupidly still went ahead with them and now instead of using cash to pay half on pickup and the other half on delivery, we had to use our credit card and pay the FULL amount upfront per their policy since we did not have that kind of cash available. Prior to pickup and even on the day of delivery we were quoted 3-10 days delivery time. We got a call 1-2 dys after pickup asking if we were available to accept delivery in a day. We reminded them that we stated on numerous occasions before pickup that we were traveling for work and not available until 5 days after. I guess that was our missed window because after multiple calls to their dispatch department to find out what's going on with our stuff we would get vague replies that it will be delivered soon. The phone was answered by Nigel who was polite but unable to provide any information so I would leave message after message for the "boss" Adam who would then take days to return my phone call. Fast forward 3 weeks- we were relieved to get the call that our stuff would be arriving soon. The 2 people who delivered our items were very polite but dropped several boxes and stacked heavy boxes on top of boxes clearly labeled FRAGILE. After all of this frustration I now have my most prized possession, my china cabinet, that I wanted to protect the most ruined. The doors and shelves were taped together with duct tape (by their moving personnel) so the wood is damaged when the tape was removed. Pieces were also missing so that it can no longer be assembled (their personnel tried and stated this fact as well) and the sides had big pieces of wood chipped! I also have chairs with a broken back and foot. 2 bookshelves and a lamp totally destroyed, a box of china that I received as a wedding present with all plates and cups broken! Even with all of this I never once received a call from TDY apologizing for any of their mis-steps and damage. I am looking into any legal action I can take including following up with the BBB but would definitely NOT recommend that you choose this company. read more

TDY Moving and Storage Company has failed in so many ways with 188 items of my memories and possessions on my move from NY to SC. The driver was our alone delivery person in SC, he then calls one friend after sitting in front of my house for 4 hours of the 7 hours spent in total. Professionalism and customer satisfaction clearly are not a priority to this company. Also: - Damaged/Destroyed Items Delivered - Missing Boxes - Furniture not reassembled - No Inventory of Items delivered And now, 28 days later and counting my frustrated conversations with the company have been just that my conversations. With no answer's or restitution even spoken about by this company. It was with much trepidation that I planned to move my mother's things from New York City to Minnesota. I have heard some horror stories, and would have felt horrible if my mother's belongings, including some valuable art, went missing or were damaged. My concerns quickly disappeared as I got to know TDY's owner, Mike, and some of his employees, including Angelo, John and Charles. TDY's employees have been with Mike for a long time, and that says a lot to me. More than experience, I see tenure as indicative of a good employer, and in turn, a good employer as indicative of good character. I was not disappointed. Mike's crew did a great job packing artwork and other delicate items for the trip to MN. It was a two day packing job, and to make sure I was comfortable Mike texted me pictures of the partially packed truck secured overnight in TDY's warehouse. Mike, Angelo and other crew members constructed custom boxes for glass fronted cabinets and other items that might not be sufficiently protected by blankets alone. Items like my mother's couch were shrink wrapped before being covered by a blanket for the move. Blankets were not simply draped over items; they were taped securely in place. Foam was used to secure sculptures within boxes. Every box and other item was numbered and inventoried. The process was that no item was removed from the apartment until labeled and inventoried. Items were carefully packed into the truck and secured at various points to minimize internal movement. I hired TDY to do a direct move, and Mike and his crew kept me updated as the truck made the trip. John and Charles met me exactly when they said they would, and did a great job unpacking the truck, confirming each item was received, and packing the items into my temporary storage facility. read more

TDY was used to move my family from NY to Orlando... Sara the contact agent was very misleading and represented the company's price inaccurately... however the NY packaging crew was amazing! Prompt, courteous, professional and got the job done! They earned every dollar that they were paid to do! Delivery to Orlando was a total nightmare. The truck showed up a day early with just the driver. Meanwhile I paid handsomely for door to door service (take apart and set up larger furniture) all boxes unpacked and still I'm missing my family heirloom dining room table legs as well other boxes. Horrible Delivery service Adam the owner was not understanding nor accommodating to the fact that we now have furniture that's unusable and belongingsthat are missing. What a disgrace and sad situation. No compensation, no courtesy, no respect for other's personal belongings. This is first time I had used moving services in 10+ years and was quite worried about the bad rep moving companies have in general. I had smooth experience as much possible. TDY moving partners with Rob the mover , whom I had initially approached. I set up my whole move within a day or two, few emails and a call was sufficient. I had a studio apartment to move and the quote was very competitive. The day of the move my elevator was broken but they were patient enough and once it was fixed the whole move took place in 1.5.hrs. If you are looking for move, talk to these guys. read more

Post move update (move date was Aug 1) The move was certainly not perfect but what I appreciate is the fact that this company pays attention to its customers. I provided honest feedback to the company and they came back to me, explaining the challenges they had on my move day and I didn't feel like it was an excuse but rather a valid reason for the delay in getting to me. Wow. I wish I could give less than 0 stars. We had used Rob the Mover a few years ago. Since he had done such an amazing job, we wanted to have him help with our move this time. It turned out that he had merged with TDY Moving and Storage. How unfortunate for us as customer service had definitely declined. We ended up having to spend a lot of time even getting a correct quote as Martin and Sara got the addresses, pick-up and drop off points, etc. wrong on several occasions. We had to call back numerous of times as they kept confusing themselves. When we finally received correct quotes and were ready to book and pay, we were suddenly told they were booked. This was all in a matter of hours, not days. It took them over three hours to get back to us which was the reason for missing the window of availability. We had reached out regarding two move jobs. One was available still and when we tried to book that one, we were placed on hold and were told that Sara needs to call us back. More than one hour later and we are still waiting for our call. Very unprofessional. We wish Rob the Mover had never merged with them as it definitely hurt the great customer service Rob had always provided. read more

I really wanted to have a good review. But Jacob - their driver, ruined it. I wanted to give more stars, Partially because the guys who packed my apt up were amazing and I felt I could trust them. But the entire process was a mess. 1. I had two stops before moving from NYC to Texas. Some of my furniture was at my parents in philly. I made it clear to Angie that I had those two stops. She didn't document is correctly but my paperwork stated it. The movers had no idea when they arrive nor did the guy who called to confirm the day before. 2. I had an agreement with Angie that this would need to be delivered the following weekend due to schedules- she agreed. I found out that day that they couldn't commit and I was possibly stranded. Thankfully the owner called and I was able to secure the delivery - which was keeping me from losing the $700i paid for my flight to be in Texas. They had to load my stuff the next day- mind you this was a holiday weekend. I paid more for my space due to furniture and it nearly doubled my bid price. Typical but I was understanding 3. I then was told I had to pay a guarantee fee to be delivered that weekend. So an additional $1,300 later I was set. 4. The guy for delivery NEVER called. I had to track him down and even the dispatch never could get him. He lied about his location, didn't leave NYC on time and then had the audacity to complain to me that I was unreasonable for asking for my things on the dates we paid for. He was rude and lazy (I'll get to that later) 5. Finally I got in touch with Adam- who refunded me the amount for the secure delivery . We had to agree on a new date- where I would not be there. Sadly I paid to visit my vacant home and couldn't stay there. 6. Still on the delivery date our driver (Jacob) was claiming to have called my boyfriend - he hadn't. I of course called again to track him down. He show d up and was beyond rude to my boyfriend. He didn't help, he brought ONE man to unload (poor guy was doing everything alone), pestered my boyfriend for a Tip by questioning if I really left him anything. He even went as far to as pricing of some things in our house and how much I got from my aunts death! See, my boyfriend explained that one of the pieces of furniture was very dear to me because my aunt left it to me after she passed. This guy was a total embarrassment for this company and someone I hope to never come across again 7. Things were broken that I packed- which was fine, but our bedframe was cracked. I didn't even bother to call and complain because I was tired of dealing with this group. I'm sad that my experience was bad, but want to warn others of the rude driver they have on the other end of the longer trips. Jacob should not represent this company as he has ruined or impression and caused so much stress and anguish. I wish them the best, but really hope that they think twice about using him ever again. read more
