First time here and it was for my daughter's 6th birthday. We were not let down and we can't wait to go back again! First, we scheduled a reservation online for 3 adults or regular tea time, and one pixie party package for my daughter. You fill out your info, request a time/day and they'll call you to confirm. I originally did 4 regualr afternoon tea times but the owner called me and talked me into the pixie party package for my daughter haha which I'm not complaining about it bc she loved it. After everything was set and confirmed, she sent an invoice and I believe everything is paid in full after you request a reservation and confirm it. You pay for it all before you even walk through the doors. Parking was a little tough bc the area but we found street parking thankfully. But also there was a parking lot you can pay to park just a little way more down by the pier side. Basically right down the street or one block away. Right when we walked in my daughter was so amazed and excited as she wanted to a real life tea party. And this place delivered. Service was great, the lady working that day was super nice and knowledgeable or helpful and she really worked hard as she was the only one serving/prepping I think. You get to pick your own cup from a shelf and tea flavor. And my daughter got to pick a gift to take home bc the pixie party package, which is only a few dollars more than the regular afternoon tea. She had the choice between a cup of her choice, a tiara, pixie wings (that comes with a headband, wand and wings), or a teddy bear. Which is so great and fun. Food was great. If you run out of tea, they'll bring you more hot water and refill your pot (one pot per person). We had the spinach berry salad and for my daughter they made her a nice fruit bowl instead. Sandwiches were great and everything was just so cute and dainty. We also asked them if they could possibly make my daughter some pb&j sandwiches on the side bc you know, kids, and they did, without an extra charge. She also asked each table if they wanted a group picture which is nice. My group and my daughter absolutely loved everything about this place and glad they're still open during times of covid. We'll definitely be back to support. Think that's pretty much it for this review. Sorry so long but hopefully this review will help other people who were just as clueless as me when it comes to the process. Oh and I forgot that I put in on the online request form that it was for my daughter's 6th birthday and they really surprised us when she brought out a small bite size cake for my daughter with a number 6 candle on top and we sang happy birthday to her we weren't expecting it at all haha thank you guys for making her birthday special. The events of that day stayed in their hearts all these years. The other week I took my high school "sister-friend" back there for afternoon tea before she returned home. My mom and I started coming here to celebrate our birthdays (which are a month apart) when I turned 17 - which was a number of years ago. From the first moment we walked in, we fell in love with this whimsical tea room in the middle of Chinatown. While parking is on the street and Chinatown might not be the classiest place in the world, stepping into this place always takes the stress off my shoulders. The staff is always welcoming and attentive inviting you to your table (we got the picture window this year!). You can choose your teacup from their adorable collection and a hat to finish the afternoon tea look. The ambiance is positively empowering with Audrey Hepburn quotes galore. The tea selection is fun with black, white, green, and an assortment of floral teas. Over the years, I've had the chance to try quite a few of them and my favorite is probably the house tea (a black tea blend of roses and raspberries). I can go on forever about the menu - which has evolved over the years. The fillings have remained the same, but the outsides have changed from white and wheat bread to quite a variety! The desserts are ever changing (but always delicious) and the scones with clotted cream and jam and absolutely to die for. I like to put the remaining clotted cream on my chocolate bite to act as a kind of whipped cream. Top plate (rotating desserts): lemon poppy seed cupcakes, chocolate tulip bites, and lilikoi lemon bars. The good: excellent tea, food, and service. There are fun hats and feather boas to dress up in. The hostess was amiable and took lots of photos of us at the end. The bad: parking - but that's true everywhere downtown. I have one major suggestion: either charge half price for kids, or have some things available à la carte. To pay the same for a 5-year-old as for an adult, especially at their prices, seems a bit outrageous. We came in and they couldn't find my reservations, but they sat me either way which I'm glad there's no issues. We sat down and was served our choice of tea. They give you 3 biscuits and jam. As we finished, I was trying to catch the attention of the staff for about 5 mins for more biscuits for my daughter and not sure if it was just the day, but didn't seem like that was something they wanted to do. I could be mistaken. Also, we kind of just waited around after an hour even though it says a 2 hour experience and dragged it out.. I had to walk up to the servers to ask if it was okay to leave because I didn't want to leave without any acknowledgement just in case anything was needed from me, even though I already paid during reservations. Very cute tea house in downtown Honolulu! As you walk in, the teashop is very small and quaint. You are asked to select a hat to wear during your tea time and pick out the cup/saucer and be taken to your table. The table setting is very pretty and fun! There is a long list of tea's but I chose the typical English breakfast. First, they bring out the Spinach strawberry salad. Next is the tea of your choice. Then the yummy part! A three tier stand is filled with assorted sandwiches, scones with sweet cream and various desserts. The reason why I can't give them 5 stars is because of their dessert. All of us weren't too fond of the dessert and pretty much took a bite before putting our forks down. It was a disappointment considering how great the scones and sandwiches tasted. Everything seemed to be exceptionally wonderful until we ate the desserts. Perhaps it was too rich? Too sweet? Whatever recipe they used did not impress us. They give you a tea pot for every tea you sample. I tried the lychee black tea, raspberry rose black tea, and sakura cherry rose. The cherry rose tea is a little bitter to me, but they give you milk and sugar for flavoring. The food includes strawberry/blueberry salad, biscuits, sandwiches, and desserts. Came here back in July on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated next to the entrance and noticed it was really hot, there was a tiny fan blowing in that entire room we were in. It was so hot that our cakes and sandwiches partially melted within 10 minutes. The staff was nice but didn't do much checkups at our table, we had to flag them down and ask for more hot water for the teas. They saved us the "premium seating" which was the super cute little alcove with the fancy chairs. We loved everything about learning to make our tea and all the foods. After coming here numerous times for a couple of years now and raving to my boyfriend about how good the sandwiches are (I even made a bet with him that these sandwiches alone can actually make him full), I finally take him here to only find out that they have changed the menu. It would seem the sandwiches has turned into h'orderves. Unfortunately, they have gone away with the cheese and tomato combo completely. However, they do have some kind of kalua pork bite - it's not as crazy delicious as the cheese and tomato sandwich but I accept it as a new replacement. Having tea here has become our annual Mother's Day tradition, which we all look forward to with great anticipation and glee! It's hard to believe this little treasure of a tea room has been a part of the downtown Honolulu vibe for nearly 20 years and has never lost its charm or unpretentiousness. Some of the highly regarded tea services in town can't really hold a candle to the delicious bites that Tea at 1024 serves and believe me when I say I've been to practically all of them. And now that they have a gluten-free option, I am all over every little sandwich and scone! On the day of our tea service we were presented with a lively assortment of delectable finger sandwiches, one even tastier than the other! Of course, the bread is substituted for gluten-free connoisseurs like myself but the descriptions ahead are from the regular menu. The Smoked Salmon atop pumpernickel with crème fraiche and dill was light, fresh, and reminiscent of a ladylike lox and bagel. The Kalua Pork with Guava Glaze on guava bread was just the right amount of savory and satisfying. Tiffany's Deviled Eggs might be a new addition to the menu and I was stoked to see them because I just love deviled eggs, oh yes, I do. These were bite-sized, creamy and mild in flavor, a nice break for the palate between sandwiches. One of my absolute favorite sandwiches here is the cheddar cheese & tomato, I'm so glad this has been a menu mainstay and hope it never goes away. The Crab & Cream Cheese in a Cucumber Bowl was also a welcome departure from the usual cucumber sandwich. The Chicken Curry with Apples on taro bread is perfectly spiced and my favorite. PB&J and vegetarian sandwiches are available upon request. Oh yes, don't let me forget about the tea! The selection here is pleasingly extensive and includes the customary English favorites (Baroness Grey, Earl Grey, English Breakfast); teas from India (Borengajuli Estate - Assam, Masala Chai, and of course, Darjeeling); blended teas - oh the flavors (Blueberry, Licorice, Mango, Lychee, Peach, Lemon Ginger, Guava, Cookies & Cream, Cinnamon & Spice, and Lilikoi); green teas (Goddess Oolong, Oolong Orange Blossom, and new to the menu, Sweet Watermelon); white teas (Cherry Rose and newly added Champagne); new wellness teas; tisanes (a blend of fruits, herbs, and spices); and occasional tea travel blends brought back from owner Michele's world travels. On this day, I decided to try the new tea from Africa. Ethiopian Mocha Pu-Erh (poo-air), and no it didn't taste like poo lol. It's described as having coffee and butterscotch flavors and "amazing with milk" so I decided to be a bit adventurous, as I am a purist and always drink my tea straight. Once I had a cup of it, I wasn't completely sold and our kind server agreed to switch it out for the Ginger Green tea, which I thoroughly enjoyed. A little bit of tea history comes along with the menu, and I love that the process of pouring boiling water over tea leaves is described as the "agonizing of the leaves" to release their full flavor. Moving on to the sweet treats. While I don't have a sweet tooth, I do enjoy tiny tastes of sweetness after the wave of savory. Petite sweets are the way to go and Tea at 1024 never disappoints when it comes to dessert. Those who know me are aware that my pastry and baked goods repertoire is very limited and I don't care much for dry, dough-y foods, but I have to say that I cannot seem to resist the scones here. They're baked exclusively for Tea at 1024 by Stage Restaurant's pastry chef and are the tiniest things; much easier for me to wrap my head around (or mouth as the case may be), and not dry in the slightest. The featured gluten-free scone was lavender flavored and such a delight to eat with clotted cream and strawberry preserves. Desserts may vary day to day and on Mother's Day we were treated to Flourless Chocolate Decadent Cake (gluten-free, yay!), Elderberry Tea infused cupcakes with a Champagne Rose Frosting. On other days you may find yourself enjoying Strawberry Shortcake, Lilikoi Lemon Bars made with Lilikoi from the Big Island, Tulip Shaped Chocolate Cups filled with Chocolate Haupia Pudding, Chocolate & Cinnamon Cupcakes with Esther's Peanut Butter Frosting, Mini Lava Cakes or Fruit Pies, Parfaits, and other wonderful seasonal desserts. The utterly charming ambience is everything you'd expect from a traditional tea room without the pomp and circumstance. Forgot to don your best hat? I've been here three times in the past three years and they were all amazing experiences. Great for little girls and little girls at heart. Unlike other tea places, you can pick your own tea cup to match your outfit. Then if you want to further your attire, you can pick a boa and/or hat. (If you're feeling bold, choose the chinaman straw hat.) Food: there's more than a dozen different teas (black/green/white) from cookies and cream to pomegranate guava. Everyone gets to have their own pot :) In terms of sandwiches, there's curry chicken, smoked salmon, crab olive, egg and pb&j. They're all pretty good, so are the scones! Finally, the desserts are so cute and petite but they can be a little sweet. The girls that work there are very friendly and always welcoming. I had the best 'tea" birthday ever. It was a last minute idea that my family enjoyed local style! We converted my tiny living room into a tea room with flowers and some pink decor. Michelle at Tea at 1024, made everything so simple, takeout Tea, curbside pick up, reasonable costs, and all the fixings! The finger sandwiches, scones, desserts and tea were PERFECT! All we had to do was make some hot water and lay everything out. Surprisingly, even the men folk loved it! You can either go to their cute tea shop in Nuuanu or create that special moment at home or your backyard. This is hands down the best afternoon tea place on the island. The food is just as good, if not better than ritzier places like the Kahala or Halekulani, and it's less than half the price! Food: I've come many times and have only ever had the afternoon tea set here because at $22.95 it's just such a great deal and has everything you could want. They're always running promos and sales so it's definitely worth it to join their email list. You get a free birthday tea if you do too! The afternoon tea comes with a small salad, a tier of savory food and a tier of sweet. They used to serve a selection of classic finger sandwiches as the savory tier, but the they recently switched to a more upscale selection of locally sourced goodies including a taro bread finger sandwich and a guava bread and kalua pork sandwich. They also make accommodations for vegetarians/vegans, just make sure to tell them beforehand! The food is all bite sized and deceivingly small, but believe me it is very filling and more than enough. Their clotted cream is the best I've ever had. Tea: Each afternoon tea set comes with a pot of tea that you choose. There are so many different kinds for every different taste preference. Fans of coffee might like their Pu-er tea or the english breakfast tea which comes with cream. I prefer the fruitier white or green teas myself. The peach tea is fantastic! It's great to come with a group and get to try different types. One of my favorite parts is getting to pick your own tea cup to use from the two racks of different styles that they have. They come by to refill your tea pot with more hot water too. Just don't forget to use the tea strainer each time you pour because it's brewed loose leaf! Location/Service/Attire: The location is the one thing I dislike. They're located downtown in Chinatown which can get busy at times and street parking is always rare. They do partially validate (it comes out to $.50 i think) parking at the Chinese Municipal lot which is right across the street from the entrance to the Walmart parking garage. The service is great here, the staff is all very kind but they do get overwhelmed if it's an especially busy time like weekend afternoons or a special holiday, so be patient or come on a weekday instead. For a refreshing activity, our family had an Afternoon Tea Party! Parking was street parking, just like any other place in Chinatown. My husband has never experienced one of these "tea parties" and he enjoyed it. Their local flavored scones, baked exclusively for Tea at 1024 by Stage Restaurant's Pastry Chef, came out warm and served with clotted cream and strawberry jam. The menu had sandwich choices of: Chicken Curry with Apples, Smoked Salmon layered over Pesto, Cucumber thinly sliced with Avocado,  Egg Salad with Sweet Dressing, Cheddar Cheese & Tomato, Crab & Olive with Cream Cheese, and PB&J. Lastly, desserts were served; which consisted of Lilikoi Lemon Bars made with Lilikoi from the Big Island, Tulip Shaped Chocolate Cup filled with Chocolate Haupia Pudding, and a Cupcake. Chose to come here for tea on my actual birthday. It's been awhile since I came here last, but it proved to be refreshing and I had a renewed love for this place. THE MENU HAS BEEN REVISED!!! Insert ecstatic arms up in the air emoji! The new menu includes: Spinach Salad Cheddar Cheese & Tomato on White Bread Chicken Curry on Taro bread Crab in a cucumber bowl Kalua Pork with Guava Glaze on Guava Bread Smoked Salmon with dill on pumpernickel bread Tiffanies Deviled Eggs Gluten Free Lavender & Orange cranberry Scones Petite Sweets I LOVE LOVE LOVE the use of local flavor breads and meats! "Kalua pork, guava, taro bread" Super special!! The change on the cheddar cheese and tomato is a welcome change from the cheese/imitation crab/olive from the past. I do, HOWEVER, miss: Spinach quiche- it was the best and only quiche I will eat! Please let that stay on the menu forever! Lilikoi tarts (not sure of the name, but like a lemon bar, but lilikoi). Forever on the menu too! All light hearted suggestions of course, totally understand having to change things up. Insert smiley face emoji. All in all, I adore this place very much. My group of friends took me to boujee tea service at one of the hotels- which was...boujee...beautiful and expensive. I was very touched as they know how much I love tea. But where I chose to come for my actual birthday was this place. The food here stands out SO much more than at the more swanky places. The tea selection here also offers much more variety. First tea party celebrating a birthday with friends. Great food and a server that explained the different teas/foods and overall great experience with the EXCEPTION of the manager. We arrived 30 minutes earlier than our reservation and the server seated us and advised she would return after she tends to another table. A short while later an older lady comes out from the back and snatches the cloth napkins off the table and throws it on the lap of my friend and continued down the table with the rest of our group.The lady did not greet us, did not utter a word and did not crack a smile. She was very rude and I would've made a comment but did not want to cause a scene. At the end of our service, we asked the server the name of the lady and if she was the owner and was surprised to discover she in the Manager of the tea house. read more

I really enjoy this tea place. The tea is so unique and lots to choose from. The food is just right and cute. This is the place to go for afternoon tea. On this particular Wednesday, it wasn't crowded at all. We had a party of 4 and were the only ones there for a while before a pair of ladies came in too. We were able to select tea cups and hats. Ordered our own flavor of tea and also had salad, fruit cups, assorted sandwiches, pastries, and scones. It was lovely. I got full. And every tea flavor was so yummy, especially with lumps of sugar. We tried Champagne, Energy, Strawberry and Cookies & Cream. The only pain would be parking. It isn't too far from municipal parking structures. I'd opt to park at Chinese Cultural Plaza. read more

I didn't have a reservation but they were very accommodating & able to seat me & my daughter. The staff was pleasant & checked up on us often & even offered to take our picture which I hadn't even thought about! The price is good for the variety of foods. My favorite was the desserts. My daughter really liked the crab sandwich & the smoked salmon sandwich. I would recommend this place for a tea lunch. read more

This place was so cute I enjoyed my time. We had an event here and I thought it was such a beautiful lady like place. This was my very first time at a afternoon tea. Trisha, she explained a little bit about the place and give a little history. It was a cute experience to have a little afternoon tea with the ladies. The food was portioned small and divided amongst three to a table. I thought it was so cute because it was a little finger food bite-size. They were variety of teacups to choose from and had a variety of different flavors of tea. This experience was beautiful we got to try on hats and take pictures, and it was literally a tea party for me. I would love to come back with friends and family I think they would enjoy it as well. A super cute tea shop in Chinatown that has fantastic service and an excellent array of tea choices. Pick your own tea cup to use while dining there! Their tea sandwiches were delicious! Our favorite was the Kalua pork sandwich! Desserts and mini scones were delicious as well! Plan to go again soon! read more
