I have been coming here for awhile but this is my first review. I actually tried the chicken and was very happy with it, crunchy and delicious. Wow! I am so impressed at this Happy Lemon location. I typically would not have Happy Lemon as a first choice but I have changed my mind after my last visit to the Santa Rosa location. (Another good Happy Lemon btw!) Conveniently, this place was few doors down from the movie theater. After reliving the IVE concert in theaters, I wanted to get some boba or dessert so I decided to give them another try since every location is not the same. The flavors of the drink and food, as well as the efficiency and friendly service of the staff will definitely have me coming back. I heard they had a new guy training for his first day but he seemed to know what he was doing! I'm so happy there's one closer to my place! The store is bright and clean with a chill ambience. I would recommend coming here to catch up with a friend or doing some studying (if you don't need wifi). Drink: 5/5 I got the green tea with salted cheese foam. I don't know what they put in that foam but it's addicting. Perfectly salty! The green tea itself is so strong in flavor and not diluted at all. I want to come back to try some of their other drinks to see if this location does them better compared to others but I can say this is a top choice! I'm not complaining about that at all, it happens and I don't mind the wait. Seemed like the employee was nice and gets orders ready in a timely manner. So surprising how they are a chain but the drink can taste so much different. The Okinawa (black sugar) doesn't taste like it, the roasted milk tea doesn't have the rich earthy taste. The worst part is the boba, so hard and UNDERCOOKED. It's just overall not very good... pretty bad tbh. I ended up having to throw away and going back to Serramonte for another one. My kids and I grabbed Happy Lemon after a matinee movie and it was such a great afternoon treat! I had the mango tea with mango boba and particularly loved the taste and consistency of the boba. I'm so happy (ha) that they opened a Happy Lemon in Redwood City. I love this bubble tea chain (maybe my favorite). It's also in a really good location, right next to the movie theater and a bunch of other restaurants on the (mostly) pedestrian-only street. My go-to is boba black milk tea (basic, perhaps, but I am not usually a fan of other more exotic drinks). I usually get 25% sweetness but I've been trying to cut down to 0% sweetness more often because I noticed many places, including this one, will cook their boba in a syrup and there is some sweetness from the syrup anyway. I thought the 0% sweetness was great for me, but if you want more sweetness, 25% is good too. They made a mistake with my order - I said 0% sweetness and regular ice but they had coded it opposite on the sticker. I realized the mistake after I left so I quickly ran back and explained what had happened. They were quick to correct the order, and I was satisfied with my drink. read more

Happy lemon has the absolute best salted cheese topping I have ever tried. I'm very happy to get one downtown Redwood City! I really love their plain jasmine green tea with salted cheese on the side (A1 on the menu) rather than it on top where it will slowly combine with the drink, becoming a milk tea. Having it on top is default and I'm sure what most people want from this drink but my preference is x2 cheese on the side where I can take my time to sip them separately and enjoy the contrast between the salty/sweet cheese and bitter tea. I've been a few times since they opened and have had really good experiences. They're a brand new store so the staff is new and learning and they have been extremely nice and helpful. I love the Happy Lemon branch, one of which I visited regularly in Tanforan before the mall closed. This was my first time at Happy lemon of the Redwood City. I loved the lighting, the beautiful prints on the walls, and the good service (as it should be by the establishment's standards). I grabbed my favorite grapefruit tea with a salty cheese foam. I was glad the taste really wasn't sweet, as it always has been when I get this drink at Tanforan (even though every time I asked them to make it with zero sugar). But the reason I took one point off was because they didn't put in fresh grapefruit, which I immediately distinguished after the first sip. It wasn't too bad because the salty cheese foam helped brighten up my drink, but I really hope that from now on they check their ingredients before using them! read more
