OMG, had company from Hawaii and Florida and they wanted Chinese. Hadn't really found anything special since I've lived back in Olympia (4 years) so we thought we try the Tea Leaf. Got the family dinner for 5 for almost $150 with tip and tax. It. Was. Horrible. Everything was bland, none of the meat tasted fresh, the apps were stale and greasy, the fried rice was plain rice with some frozen peas and carrots stirred in, the sweet and sour was neither, and on and on and on...And I'm pretty sure the fortune cookies were from 1972. I immediately spat mine out. I'm so embarrassed that my family member spent that much money on garbage. Truly awful. read more

Hidden secret Korean menu item .... , Jajangmyeon, black noodles I loveee me some it's a forbidden secret. The place wasn't that crowded and we were seated quickly. The food came out warm, and we didn't get the vegetables to our sweet and sour chicken so we had to ask for it. My sister and I were hungry from our journeys from the Centrailia Outlets and we're too hungry to complain. The black noodles were better then the restaurant in Paldo World in Tacoma... The tangsuyuk or sweet and sour pork was not as good as I would have hoped but I look forward to trying some other stuff in the future. More than one review advised that this was the best Chinese food in Olympia. Considering Olympia has the worst Chinese food I have ever tasted in my life, that statement could be true. Rather than debate why Olympia can't serve a decent plate of Asian cuisine, let's just get to the review. The service here was fast and friendly and the portions of food was in line for the price paid. Despite having the potential to be a traditional restaurant, this was pretty much a teriyaki shop that takes your order at your table. Despite the claims it was the "Best Mongolian Beef, Ever!" I can tell you that it was nothing special. It was the typical BBQ beef that you find in most teriyaki shops. The Egg Drop was okay, but not as good as most places and I was disappointed that Hot & Sour wasn't an option on the lunch combo menu. I also had the chicken lo mein, it was ok, but again, nothing special. At the end of the day, I found the food average at best and just another example of how mediocre the food in the states capitol can be. Like I said, the service was flawless and overall experience was ok, but just ok isn't what most of us want when we spend our cash on anything. Some of the best Chinese & Korean food I've had in a long time. Granted, their Korean menu is VERY limited, but still very well done. We got the Mongolian beef, sesame chicken, spicy prawns, spicy BBQ Korean pork, beef lomein, egg rolls, and the pot stickers. I don't think one dish disappointed at all. Serving sizes were generous. We all had left overs for later that night and the next day. The spicy pork, and pawns weren't too too spicy. Just enough, and the server made sure to ask how spicy we'd like it. I don't know how I don't have a review for Tea leaf. I first came 5 years ago when a friend and I decided to link up for dinner. After that date, I've brought my boyfriend and parents here. The most recent time I've come was in January when my dad was home from deployment. I'm drive past this place all the time growing up and told my mom this place is good. She literally said "it never looks like there's cars here" so she never wanted to try it. My brother comes here too and we decided to take my parents and my kids to eat here. Everything on their menu is good. I always get the sweet and sour chicken since that's my favorite. My brother gets the almond chicken or Mongolian beef and their low mein is bomb. Best Chinese restaurant in the area. I have visited Teaeaf for at least 25 years. The service is friendly and attentive. The food choices are extensive and always predictably good. My favorites are the egg rolls, sizzling rice soup, Mongolian beef, General Tso's chicken and almond chicken. You really can't go wrong because everything is fresh and tasty. read more

Orange chicken was not of very good quality and just tasted like oranges, in fact there was an entire orange in there with a small amount of chicken. Almost $15 for a small plate with white rice. If you want egg rolls you have to pay $7 for an entire order. It reminded me of a pre made frozen orange chicken package from the grocery store with an overwhelming orange taste. What a disappointing experience. The food didn't taste awful but the broccoli beef and general tso with fried rice were a poor poor representation of what they should be. The chicken fried rice was not really fried at all. It was almost like they put fried rice ingredients in steamed rice, put in a hot pan for one second and plated it. The beef and broccoli was more like a stir fry. I will say the egg rolls were very good though. I have no idea how this place got such awesome reviews. This is my favorite place to eat when I'm visiting the Olympia area. I've never had a bad experience here and I've been quite a few times. The entire staff are all incredibly nice and polite, they always take care of us like they would their own family. My personal favorite is the Mongolian beef, which I get pretty much every time I go. I also get their pot stickers and barbecue pork as a starter. I've never tried anything from here that wasn't good. I usually hate taking out food because it isn't warm enough when I get home but this place is just as good when I finally get to eat it. YUM. This place is fantastic! I ate here about a year ago and had a positive experience and had a craving for Chinese food so I decided to stop in. I ordered the Crab Cream Cheese Wontons along with a lunch combination that had Almond Chicken, Chicken Chow Mein, Pork Fried Rice, and Pot Stickers. The wontons were amazing. Crispy outside with that creamy cream cheese inside that just seems to melt in your mouth. It was definitely hard for me not sit there and devour all of them before my meal. My lunch combination was exactly what I was hoping for. The almond chicken was delicious but my only bit of criticism would be that it had too much sauce for my liking. After I had eaten about 3/4th of my meal, there was just too much excess sauce so next time I would probably ask if they could use half the normal amount. The chow mein was great. My waiter made sure to ask me if I preferred soft or crunchy noodles so it was nice I was able to get my crunch on. You can never go wrong with fried rice and pot stickers. The whole meal was just so lovely. If you order an appetizer with a lunch combination, keep in mind it's a fairly big meal. It's easy to just eat half the appetizers and eat half your meal, save the rest and have another lunch the following day. Highly recommend coming here if you want some delicious Chinese food. Plus the fortune cookie you get at the end of the meal is always a tasty treat :) read more
