My husband ordered the signature Kiwi Citrus Breeze drink which came with mango boba. It was delicious, but very sweet. I believe they allow you to adjust the amount of ice and sweetness, like most boba places do. But he ordered as is. The mango boba was phenomenal. Omg I can't believe a boba shop opened at my apartment community. Literally can walk down whenever I am craving a boba, which is probably about every day lol. I've never heard of Tea Maru and saw that they also had a store in Irvine. It looks like the menu at this new location here is a lot smaller than the one there. There are also no tables or chairs, so you just gotta grab your drink and go. So far I've tried the Mango Fluffy Matcha as well as the Strawberry Fluffy Matcha, both with the brown sugar boba. Both were really good but I liked the Strawberry one a little more. I really loved that they had milk alternatives, so I was able to substitute the regular milk for oat milk! Even though on the menu it says we can change the sweetness level, they said for the Fluffy Matcha drinks it was best to leave as is or else they would be putting just less of the mango / strawberry. I don't like my drinks too sweet, but I felt like the matcha kinda balanced the sweetness out which was nice. I've tried many boba places, but I would probably put Tea Maru as my top 3 due to the quality of the drink, and also the boba balls had the perfect chewiness and flavor. I had a chance to visit this location thanks for a Yelp Elite event. I definitely would not have tried to stop by here on my own without the event notification because it is not a very obvious spot to visit. The structure is an apartment community that has retail/restaurants on the first floor, and I was not even sure if I parked in the right area. There's no directory or signs, so I actually ended up calling Tea Maru because of how lost I was trying to navigate the building. After attempting to open several locked doors, I finally found my way to the entrance of the boba shop. Associate was extremely friendly and patient. I ended up selected the Okinawa Tea Latte and even had the option to sub the milk with oat milk, although whole milk and lactose free milk are also available options. The overall flavor and balance of the tea was very delicious, as I could taste floral-ness of the tea and just enough creaminess from the oat milk. Overall, I was really impressed with the quality of the drink and the helpfulness of the staff. The only annoying thing is that the building management team should make it easier to find businesses on the first floor. read more

The jasmine tea with cheese foam didn't have a rich jasmin tea flavor, the cheese foam was overpowering the tea flavor and didn't taste very authentic, the cheese foam also wasn't very rich either so it kind of just tasted like watered down cream. It was literally a mission finding this location. My husband and I had a little adventure walking through the apartment complex that Tea Maru is in and ended up finding out that we were parked near it was all along. There is no real sign or anything to show where it is and you actually have to exit the building after parking to get to it, which I wasn't sure was even allowed because then you were able to just walk right back into the apartment building. I wasn't sure if we were going to get locked out since we didn't reside there to reenter, but thankfully that wasn't an issue. My husband got the taro storm and I got the strawberry fluffy matcha. We were recommended to leave the sweetness as is so we didn't adjust anything. The person helping us was very quiet but friendly and did his best to answer our questions since it was our first time there. My husband ended up wanting to add boba into his taro storm and of course was going to pay the extra 85 cents for it since he found out their boba was made in house. Taro storm was very icey, we wished it was more blended because we were literally chewing on ice pieces... The boba was good though and cooked nicely with good flavor. However after being charged for the boba add on, the apple pay payment didn't go through to notify him until after we had left but he was charged $2 for the extra boba charge! My strawberry fluffy matcha was just ok.. I was expecting the strawberry matcha from boba guys but it really just tasted like milk to be honest. The matcha flavor wasn't very strong and it wasn't really fluffy either so I don't know why it's described to be fluffy lol. The only thing that really had flavor was the strawberry puree, which was good but very sweet and didn't incorporate too well throughout the whole drink. I'm really in the middle regarding this place. The tea itself was okay but the boba which I was really wanting was so disappointing. I got the mango jasmine with boba and aloe. They don't have the traditional aloe most boba places have but I didn't mind. The boba was stuck together in chunks and made it impossible to drink. I ended up having to peel off the lid of the cup to have the boba. The boba itself was good but it's hard to enjoy something I can't drink. The worker here was nice and patient when I was thinking of what to get. You can also choose your ice level and sweetness. I love supporting new boba shops and it helps that this was such a convenient location from my work as well. This spot is located in an apartment complex off of Dyer so it is easy to miss. I have had a few drinks here now, such as the Maru Milk, Tea Maru Latte and the Okinawa Latte. I love how you can customize everything, even down to the milk at no additional charge. One of the other big wins is their amazing boba which is delicious. We've only had the original brown sugar, but that has been good enough. But, I got a boba place that makes their boba a bit different than your ordinary tapioca balls so you might be in for a treat here. I went here for a Yelp elite event that happened a couple of weeks ago. I took my wife along with me to here because she's a big boba drinker, and plus it's right down the street from her work place. We arrived to the gps location at a parking lot for an apartment complex. We were a bit confused since we were looking around where the front entrance of the boba shop would be at, but all we saw were the lease office and the apartment's gym room, so we followed the pathway that lead to the back of the building. We walked around to the corner and came to a dead end which I knew at that point we were lost. I had to ask one of the security guards to ask where this boba shop is at and he told us it was on the opposite side of the building; we then had to walk back to where we started but just went in the opposite direction. We evidently found the establishment and it's situated facing the street of Dyer. I attached for the pictures of what it looks like for you to reference by. It took us 10 minutes to figure this so please learn from my mistake lol. Wish there was bright visible signs that directed patrons where to go, but if you're reading this then you should be fine. We went inside and met one of the friendliest barista inside there. I am completely blanking on his name but apparently he worked at the other location in Irvine for a few months and got placed here to work at. I introduced myself and told him I was apart of the Yelp Elite event and he walked me through the menu. It was just him working by himself that day so he took our orders down and went to go make it. I had to pick their most signature drink to get my honest opinion on their number seller. My wife picked the Uji Matcha Latte. It took the barista about 5 minutes for him to complete both of beverages. I popped my straw and there and took a sip. I love a classic brown sugar milk tea. But one thing that stood at the most was their homemade house boba. The boba is different from your typical boba because it's a lot more softer and chewier. Imagine the texture of mochi balls but used as boba balls. It was a delightful sweet honey taste and the texture was on par to the tapioca balls. The drink was nothing special but the boba was the one that made the drink tasted better. The milk tea was not overly sweet, and subtle enough that complimented the soft boba. The barista apparently is the one that specialize in making egg pudding. He gave us a sample of it and I appreciated the gesture he did. An awesome barista you got here Tea Maru; you guys got a person that knows excellent customer service, so I will acknowledge that for you. My wife liked her drink too so I guess you just won over two fellow patrons. I would have gave this place a 5 star but the location was confusing and parking isn't the greatest. read more

Tried their Maru Milk and it was an absolute delicious brown sugar boba fresh milk. It was warm at the bottom so you know their boba is nicely chewy, sweet & soft. It was definitely a nice drink that i got to enjoy. They need to open another location closer to me so that I can order this more often. Its worth the $6.25 plus, I like how their cups aren't thin plastic and I didn't have much condensation while drinking it. It stayed cold drinking but not cold holding the cup. I tried the grapefruit fantasy as part of the Yelp elite event. I got 50% sugar and the sweetness level was just right for me. The drink was tasty and refreshing. This place (different location) has actually been saved in my bookmarks for over a year now and I never got the chance to try it. Go figure.... I move into a new apartment complex with this place DOWNSTAIRS. I went to college in the area and if you know, you know. Boba is everywhere, and I've tried as many new boba places as I could find. I'm what you would call a "boba connoisseur". This place makes their boba in house and it's delicious!! Definitely one of my top 5 boba places in the area, and I'm lucky that I live right above it (albeit dangerous because I'm there all the time). I've gotten to know some of the workers as well and they're really cool while providing fast service. Ambiance is as great as a cute boba shop can get. I will say though that the drinks are sometimes hit or miss. I've gotten multiple of the same drinks during different times and they haven't always tasted the same. One drink that never misses is the Maru Milk w/ brown sugar boba - definitely recommend that one. The other ones that have been hit or miss depending on the time (or who was working maybe?) were the Oreo shake, taro, mango w/ mango boba, and the mango jasmine tea.
