Delicious and perfect for a weekend breakfast. The Visit Various visits, two for Sunday breakfast and one for a weekday lunch. Tables for two for each visit. Service and Atmosphere Service is adequate. Since this place does not offer normal wait staff, the staff interaction is only while ordering food and when food is delivered. It worked and staff was polite, but it isn't anything beyond that. The food does seem to take twice as long as it should to be delivered - for all three visits. I did wonder when it would actually show up. If you see a line at the door, don't worry. It's a bit normal for them, and it moves quickly. Just use the time to study the menu - grab one at the counter. A note about payment - cash only. This is a real inconvenience and seriously, a little ridiculous in 2015. So be warned and stop at an ATM beforehand. Atmosphere feels like a bright, simple, and artsy cafe. It has some fun random placed artifacts, and local art along the walls. It's a tad warm inside during the summer, and will feel a little stuffy after a while. Even with that said, this is a good place I can easily catch up with a friend over Sunday brunch, with lots of fun people watching. There are also table outside for you and your pooch. The Food All is fresh, local and very good. We've tried a variety of egg dishes and sandwiches. All very yummy. I especially enjoyed the breakfast potatoes. I won't go into full details about each dish as nothing was bad, nor even mediocre. Even the freshly squeezed mimosas (orange and grapefruit juices) were delicious. The Tea Room Cafe kind of reminds me of a few cafes in Portland, Oregon...sweet small menu, fresh ingredients, young people, kind of hipster....when it's not crowded, it has nice atmosphere with large plate-glass windows overlooking the sidewalk but when full-on, it is just too noisy and crowded. We went the other day and there were only a few tables full, so i could actually hear Frank Sinatra on the radio as well as whatever my dining partner was talking about...it was pleasant. FOOD: his potato cakes were fabulous...filling and rich (4 stars). My cold tuna salad sandwich, though, was very disappointing...the bread was homemade and yummy but the slices were way too thick and the filling (the part that says 'tuna salad') was a miniscule mediocre amount and sadly, very bland as well (2 stars). With a sprinkling of greens, that particular offering is not something I would order again. DRINKS: good coffee SERVICE: Folks working are friendly....it's order at counter and you are given a number, get your own flatware, napkins, water and find yourself a seat. One of my favorite breakfast places in Sonoma County. The Tea Room Cafe has a unique city charm about it. The line tends to get long but don't let that detour you from the stay. The sign reads to order before grabbing a seat (which people never follow) so try and be patient - something always opens up. Order your food, grab a cup of coffee or a warm latte and you'll have a place to sit in no time. The sour cream pancakes are SUPER fluffy and the lattes are always perfectly foamed. Had been coming here when West Side Cafe was in the same spot (miss the pizza!), Tea Room is by far the BEST breakfast place in town. Lots of regular customers so it is almost always crowded on the weekends. Try it midweek in the morning if you can for less of a crowd. I always take my out-of-town visitors here for their first impression of P-town charm. Awesome fresh baked maple nut or berry scones (THE BEST!), fresh melt in your mouth brownies, cupcakes...sinfully exceptional....grab something after breakfast to go to eat later! You can't go wrong with anything on the breakfast menu ($6-$8 average), my fav is the basil/avocado/cheese/tomato omelet. Get an extra side of fried red potato's with the whole unpeeled garlic cloves! Everything tastes farm fresh, coffee (3 different roasts) is strong and bottomless and the teas/mochas/fresh squeezed juice is always great. For lunch, you have to get the grilled chicken with bacon and cheese on the slab of french bread and side vinaigrette salad...yum! Only downside with my most favorite place in P-town is it's small and has a hardcore local/regular following so it gets crowded quick. The line gets going with people making orders EVEN WITH NO PLACE TO SIT, so the other customers start eyeballing you to leave...There is inside and some sidewalk dining but you order at the counter and they bring the food/drinks to you. Yeah, the tables and chairs are flimsy, it gets messy and you might have to bus a table to snatch one now and then, some of the help can look a little heroin chic and crabby sometimes, but the food is always top notch and I doubt there is any health hazard as one reviewer ignorantly alluded too...I wish they had a web cam so I could check to see how crowded it is before I make my trek down there! Parking is also sparse, don't go on Sunday when the church across the street is going on... A must-eat place in Petaluma. This place is so great! Everything is made in house, went there for breakfast had the Tea Room Potato Cakes, they were beyond delish with sour cream & Harissa. I added two poached eggs and avocado. My man had the French toast and with little flecks of orange peel made it divine! The price is super reasonable and the coffee is fab! We stopped at Tea Room Cafe for lunch on a cold rainy weekend. The service was prompt and friendly. We tried the vegetarian options - Lentil Burger for me and Grilled Eggplant S/W for my wife. I loved my burger ... wholesome and the chipotle aioli hit the spot. Eggplant was delicious too but I thought eggplant to bread ratio was kinda low. The coffees were great too. Great little place for breakfast or brunch. My wife (who is all about anything "gluten free") and I stop here before we embark on those strenuous wine tasting tours in Sonoma and Napa. I know, life is pretty rough for us. When the misses and I were honeymooning in wine country for a few days, I had a few places for breakfast planned. Never a dry bite and the egg yolk was perfectly runny. Adding the tomato and spinach really helped to balance the dish as well and give it some fresh components. Johhnycake: A savory green chile & cheddar cheese corn cake. Although the savory pancake is a cool concept, it lacked moisture. It taste alright, but if they made a sauce to accompany it I think it could be a hit! If you get this, maybe get over easy eggs to help moisten the cake. **Also had a side of fruit and this was hands down the best side of fruit from any restaurant. There was no sign of cantaloup or honey dew, hahaha. It was a FRESH variety of nectarines, pears, strawberries and bananas. Another delightful surprise. Was excited to try this place and totally expected to like it. I asked if a particular sandwich was served hot like a panini, and I was told it was, so I ordered it. The woman taking our order didn't smile once. After placing our order, we went to find a table, and most of them still had dirty dishes on them from people who had left long ago. We cleared our own table and sat down. The food took forever so we were starving when it was finally ready. When our food was brought out, my cold sandwich didn't match her description at all. Considering how bad the service was, and how long it took to get a sandwich, I took a few bites instead of arguing about it and just left. I LOVE the Tea Room Cafe! It is my "go-to" brunch spot with my friends. The number one complaint I have about this place is the fact that they DO NOT accept debit or credit cards. I do not usually carry cash on me (and what man has a checkbook in his back pocket) but that is a small complaint. Seating can also be tough on a busy day, such as Sunday morning, but if the weather is not bad, outside is a nice little area to enjoy the sunshine, but it can be difficult to find seating both inside or out on a busy day. Being that I love the place so much, I have my favorite brunch meal which is the "Hamlet". I'm a huge fan of ham and mushrooms and the combination of these with the spinach is divine. Their potatoes and sausage are also to die for. I generally also get a blueberry muffin which is always light, fluffy, and full of flavor. To round off the meal with a drink, I generally go for a chai latte that has just the right amount of spice. This place is heavenly and I highly recommend it as the place to brunch in the morning. read more

I ordered the Avocado, Goat Cheese, Tomato and Basil Omelette My husband ordered the poblano chili and bacon omelette EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING! My son didn't want to even try the pancakes (so picky) but I asked him to take just one bite. That was all it took he was hooked! His first response after eating over half his pancake was "When can we come here again?" My omelette was so yummy. I wasn't sure of fresh basil in my eggs, thought it may overpower the other flavors but the balance was just perfect. My husband loved his chili and bacon as well. But the buttermilk pancakes were so incredible I think next time we will order one for everyone. Our egg breakfasts were also served with a piece of really good bread too! The Tea Room is our favorite place for brunch in P-town!!! We stayed away for awhile because of some of the hipster chip on the shoulder employees. However, the staff has turned over enough so that the angry emaciated ones have left. Yeah. We love the atmosphere and the ever changing art work is aesthetically pleasing. Our kids like to stare at the big crows tastefully displayed around the dining room. The food is always lovely and fresh. It is the only local brunch place that compares to the quality of the chef run brunch in Yountville. I recently took my family there for Sunday brunch and, by all standards, we had a wonderful meal and a good experience. No complaints! Good food, fair prices, and a neighborly ambiance. I read some of the yelps where a large family with small children were treated, so they say, poorly. I can tell you this cafe is really tiny, with tables very close to each other. I was not there that day, but would think I would not tolerate the behavior of those kids. It seems like they were unruly, disruptive, and not using their "indoor voices". Why should regular patrons have their meals ruined? My advice. Groups that can't behave should stay away from the Tea Room. Don't go to the Tea Room. New favorite breakfast place. Everything appears made from scratch. The mochas are huge and come with homemade whipped cream. I had the french toast with real maple syrup. It came with the butter already melted on. There is a bit or orange flavor in the toast. I wish I had known about that since I was hankering just regular french toast, but it was very very tasty. Found this place on Yelp during a drive back to SF after a weekend of camping and climbing. Were looking for a yummy brunch with outdoor seating - and got both! Never would have found this out-of-the-way spot without Yelp. Food was amazing, so much selection and although it was a bit pricey for me (which isn't saying much), the quality was great so it was worth it. Limited outdoor seating but we grabbed a table on the sidewalk. My friend said he'd only give it 4 stars, but when I mentioned all of the cute girls that happened to be eating there he agreed that it deserved 5! Since moving out of the.P. I haven't been to the tea room for a minute. So after contemplating on where to go before my bday massage and facial at soft shell I couldnt believe how easily I forgot about this perfect place. The only downside is the table wait game on a Sunday morning but the food is worth the 10-15 table stalking. I always get the vanilla tea and this time I tried the eggs in a hole with delicious Harissa and parmesan for breakfast and it was so effin good! My Bf got the eggs blackstone & as usual it's much better on a Biscuit. Needless to say our plates our clean and we are both full with smiles. And if I wasn't getting stared down by the table scouts holding their numbers I would stay a little while longer and sip my tea. So I went in round 10:30 a.m. on a Friday having just arrived from Napa for a day of visiting the quaint and cozy downtown of Petaluma. There was no line but just a few tables available. There is no indication that you order on your own at the counter, pay and then find an open table. The order of a cappuccino and waffle took a long while and was nothing very special. I looked up reviews prior to choosing this place over the many other cafes in the area. It was disappointing and I won't return. The counter service staff was also generally rude and lacked standard professionalism behaving as if they were not very happy to be at their job. There are so many choices for coffee and a good breakfast in the area, skip this over-priced and undeserving joint of a cafe for another that considers a high standard of customer service a must! Wow, this was the best breakfast I've had in months. Definitely the best breakfast I've eaten since moving up to the Bay Area from LA. Their menu has, I'd say, just the right amount of options - enough to intrigue you but not so many as to annoy you, because you know if there are too many things to choose from a good percentage of the dishes will proably blow. So I had to try the Heavenly Sour Cream pancakes, but was in dire need of an egg dish too, and not just an over-well single egg. No, I needed a creative omlet or veggie scramble. And, man, how yummy did that Homemade Apple Compote sound? What do do? No problem. Just told the dude taking orders at the counter about choice challenge and he offered up an "a la carte" size portion of the Avocado & Goat Cheese Omlet and a single pancake, plus the compote. Wow. Each and every bite of both the omlet (they cooked the cheese so perfectly, its creaminess made me think for a second that it was cream cheese) and the sour cream pancake (with the fresh, incredible apple compote dumped atop) were an opera in my mouth. Yeah, I added salt, pepper and tabasco to the omlet, but that's just a personal preference that I add to any egg dish. It stood just beautifully on its own. Plus, the Americano held its own against the Flying Goat brew you can get at Acre Coffee up the street (also a terrific place). Seriously, Hugo's in LA has a breakfast done so much to impress me. And the place is as others here have described, like a homey but hipster coffee house, all concrete floors, high ceilings and comfy seating, including a nice outdoor section out front. There is nothing to complain about - everything is ALWAYS amazing. I eat here every week. If you don't like having to stand in line to order and maybe having to get a table, don't come here, although the food is WELL worth it. The service is always great. Seating is not any more awkward than the other places I eat (which do not have awkward seating). This is a small-town place so it is not going to look like an ordinary diner - the tables are different sizes and are not artificial-looking. The art is cool. There are random antiques sitting in corners to give the place a more original and homey feel. My favorites (for breakfast): Heavenly sour cream pancakes. Goat cheese and avocado omelette (it is ALWAYS perfect). Potato pancake with harissa and sour cream. Cheese and fruit plate served with toasted baguette. For lunch: B.L.A.T. Smoked salmon with herbed cream cheese on toast. I lied - there is one thing to complain about - the ketchup has high fructose corn syrup.
