Their food is always so fresh! I usually order the sushi combo with miso soup and crab rangoons and I've never been disappointed. I've gotten their fried rice which is delicious too and comes in a large portion. The staff has always been very friendly and attentive. Beverage selection is fabulous... When they have the ingredients on hand. Also had salmon roe nigiri. Tasted like my fish filet knife on a hot day. Joanne said she checked with the sushi chef and the container was opened yesterday. Well I got "Montezuma's Revenge"the next day, and I have an iron gut. Tea Tree is the kind of restaurant that requires trial and error. The food they do well, is excellent. The food that isn't excellent tends to be really bad; there isn't much in between. The items on the menu I do like, I love and keep me returning. What I come back for: lava roll (one of my favorite sushi rolls, ever), spring rolls, dolsot bibimbop, sesame chicken and the hot and sour soup. Items that I tried and didn't enjoy: lettuce wraps (lack flavor), calamari (again, lacks flavor), crab Rangoon (usually love these, but they are baked and not fried and just don't taste right). Tea tree is a beautiful restaurant with a rather ambitious menu including Thai, Korean, Japanese and Chinese dishes. Most entrees are expensive for Asian food but you are paying for the atmosphere. We went on a night with half price sushi which made the visit a tad more affordable. The sushi was good. The pork belly sliders were plain with just the pork, lettuce and parsley. The Summer roll had a strong refrigerator odor. The pad Thai, bulgogi and miso ramen were passable, but not really as authentic as what you would find at Thai, Korean or Japanese restaurant. One of my family's favorite restaurants! We love to dine at Tea Tree Asian Bistro to celebrate birthdays and to bring out of town guests. It's in a great location and the restaurant is gorgeous! The outdoor patio is a very nice addition on a nice day. Some of our favs are...You have to start off with one of their signature Martinis. If you're a Sushi fan try the Hot Mama, Sex in the City, and the Super Spider. The Hot and Sour soup is amazing! For dinner the Volcano Scallops, Thai Basil Chicken, General Tso's, and Hunan Delight are all delicious. It is truly one of the best restaurants in the Toledo area! read more

Tea Tree does not do as well as others. There's better Sushi (Nagoya), Chinese (First Wok, Bai Du) and Bar scene (Bar Louie, the hotel bar when they serve) within a 5 minute drive of the place. In my 6 month stay in the area I only went there twice, once for Sushi and once for Chinese. The quick run down including a review of each part of its fusion (Sushi, Chinese, Bar). Price: Expensive. $17 (not including tax and tip) for a Beef stir-fry with rice. The sushi and drinks were well priced Pros: ~Fast seating and service ~Friendly hostess and wait staff ~The Chinese food is okay and the drink selection is pretty good for the area Cons: ~Sushi is bad. It is worse than supermarket sushi I buy in the Bay Area. It tastes old and the rice is made poorly. ~The place is pretty dead. In almost all other restaurants in Levis Commons there's more action than here. read more

Terrible service. We went on what appeared to be a slow night, and it took over 10 minutes to even be acknowledged by a server after being seated. My husband's food was brought out well before mine and the food wasn't great. We had been regular carry out customers for many years because we liked the food, but the chances of our orders being correctly made were always slim. I recommend avoiding "Tea Tree Asian Bistro" altogether, there are no aspects of this restaurant worthy of recommendation. I have broken down my experience with "Tea Tree Asian Bistro" into three main areas. Interior Can best be described as "peculiar", not at all relaxing. Often restauranteurs attempt to fuse a Japanese simplicity with western post-modern opulence. The end result is something of a shot-gun wedding. The inherent discord of the interior imprints itself on the customers and the restaurant staff. Service The staff at "Tea Tree Asian Bistro" seem to barely tolerate their customers at times. Getting water refills or your check can be agonizing. I ordered an Asahi Super Dry beer. The glass provided with my beer was so dirty, it turned my wife's stomach. I complained to a server, who rolled her eyes and exhaled deeply, and proceeded to "wash" the glass in the bar area for about five seconds by running cold water over it, then returning it to me. ( We were seated in the bar area) I ended up drinking my beer from the bottle, needless to say. Food I am a sushii/sashimi aficionado, having dined in hundreds of Japanese restaurants all over the world. The sushi/sashimi at "Tea Tree Asian Bistro" is one step above super-market grade. The other asian dishes are passable. The prices charged are high, in view of the lack of quality and sparse portions. If you are in Levis commons and want asian food, either visit "Nagoya" or leave Levis Commons, "Tea Tree Asian Bistro" will be a bad experience. read more

We have eaten at The Tea Tree many times with both good and not so good experiences. After our most recent visit, we will no longer go back. In November, we were celebrating with friends and ordered sushi ($130.00's worth!) to go. Once home we discovered that they neglected to incude our soups(miso) and salads(basic ice berg house salad). 20 mins from the restaraunt with a party about to begin, there was no way we were going to travel back for their mistake. We called, spoke to the manager/owner who apologized, but did not offer to refund any money or deliver the missing food. When asked how they would remedy the error, we were told, the next time we came in, they would provide us with the soup and salad, which we had already paid for. So, this past week in January, we were celebrating another birthday, we knew we wanted sushi and remembered that they owed us from the last purchase. I called from work (busy day!), ordered $40.00's worth of sushi and requested that they include the soup and salad they shorted us the last time......I was put on hold. Several minutes later, I was asked for another phone number because there wasn't a note regarding the shortage on the phone I was calling from. Put on hold again......several minutes later, the owner picked up to tell me that the number I gave them did not have a note either. I then provided my husband's cell number and was once again out on hold. The owner finally came back on the line, she found the $130.00 order, saw that soup and salad were a part of the order, but did not find anything stating it was forgotten or owed to us, as previously stated. Needless to say, after put on hold for a total of 15 minutes while they researched the missing soup and salads, (total restaraunt cost of maybe $5.00!) I had had enough! I told the manager that quite frankly, I was very dissapointed in their lack of customer service and I couldn't believe what I had just been put through, for the cost of soup and salad. The owner went on to explain how dishonest people call her saying that they were owed something but they really wern't.......how this is my problem I have no idea! Maybe they should keep better records or better still, I reccommed that they get the orders correct in the first place! There's a thought considering the prices they charge! Eventually, she agreed to include the soup and salads. Woohoo! To top it all off, when I picked up the order, the owner apologized to me again and began to reiterate how she was fearful that I wasn't being truthful when I requested that we receive our soup and salads from a previous order...you know, because others have done that. Really?! The level of customer service is truely sub par for the area, retaraunt image and the prices they charge. However, then, as I was leaving..... she said to me, how glad she was "... that she could make it up to me" for the error that occured.........I thought to myself,...Seriously! You haven't made anything up to me.....and I do not feel like a valued customer, you simply provided me with the food which I had already paid for 2 months earlier !! I'm from NY/NJ. I found Tea Tree through a friend's recommendation. What a great decor! It was thoughtful and detailed. It provided the most satisfying and relaxing dining atmosphere. The hostess and the wait staff were fast and pleasant. The foods, contradicting all previous reviews, were delicious and near perfect!!! I've tried foods in many states and cross cultural lines, and they've done a great job on producing their Pan-Asian style. Back at home, I still remember their taste... I am a lifelong sushi-lover. I loved their sushi and at great price!!! Never thought that I would find such a fine sushi in this corner of Ohio. I think Tea Tree Asian Bistro deserves a good review like this. I would always return to this restaurant every time I come to Ohio. I live in a busy suburb right outside of NYC. Everyone will kill to go to a restaurant like this. It will fit right in with the area. Great food, great staff, excellent ambience- for a good price. Here, we have too many people, and not a single decent Chinese/fusion restaurant like this, unless we cross the bridge to Chinatown. Even then, no one will match the atmosphere. I've been here a number of times and am always satisfied by the food and experience here. I've had good experiences with the sushi and the menu items. I'm a big fan of the lettuce wrap. Yes, things can get a bit pricey here (perhaps some miso to go with the sushi would be a nice gesture...) but overall, a good experience. Two years since my last review.. It's still just OK. I was here on Thursday for their half price sushi and bottles of wine. Great value - 2 house salads, 6 rolls, and a bottle of wine for about 50 bucks. The tempura rolls were the best, but isn't fried anything always the best? This place was not crowded, which made for great conversation that I had with a friend and we could actually hear each other, so that was a plus. Parking was not an issue, but we had to avoid the runners - not sure if there is a nearby bootcamp that runs about 630 pm? I'm sure I'll be back at some point, but I go typically because it's a good and close place to meet with friends, that is reasonably priced, not because it's an amazing sushi place. read more

Tea Tree is a solid 3-star experience: some pros, some cons, some great things, some not-so-great things, would definitely go back, but I'm not in a hurry to return. I have been wanting to try the Tea Tree Asian Bistro for years, primarily because I had heard that the family that ran Fu Yi's (now closed) also ran Tea Tree. While I loved Fu Yi's in general, the thing that I really missed after their closing was the hot-and-sour soup. It was unique, and I have never tasted it's equal. So with the hope's of rediscovering the Holy Grail of hot-and-sour soups, I headed out to Tea Tree. I went there for lunch, and I was surprised by the decor which was decidedly (dare I say?) "fancy" for a place with "Bistro" in the name. Quite elegant, actually. It makes for a nice setting for a business lunch to be sure. Having been seated, I checked out the menu, which read like a standard Chinese menu to me. No big surprises to be found. I went with the General Tso's chicken with hot-and-sour soup. (The lunch entrees come with either hot-and-sour soup, egg-drop soup, or a house salad.) The friendly and efficient waiter quickly brought a plate of sugared, deep-fried won-ton pieces while we waited for our soup. Fu Yi used to do this too, and I always thought that was a great touch. When the soup arrived I dug in and was instantly gratified. It was just like I remembered, and I loved it. It comes out piping hot in temperature, with some spicy hotness and the sour flavors strong up front, but with a sweetness underneath. Really, it is a perfect balance of flavors. It's savory nature really got me excited for the main course. Here's where I got disappointed. The General Tso's wasn't bad, but it wasn't all that enjoyable either. It was too sweet with a bit too much green onion flavor, and more importantly, it lacked any real kick or heat despite being denoted on the menu as "spicy". A little too sweet and a little too boring. Incidentally, that was nothing like Fu Yi's General Tso's which was wonderfully spicy. A final point of interest is that this place isn't cheap. My lunch entree was one of the cheaper things on the menu and it was $9, which isn't terrible, but not exactly cheap for lunch either. The dinner prices are substantially more. If my General Tso's is any indication, I would say that it probably isn't worth the money (at lunch anyway) when I can get better Chinese from 3 Happiness for half the cost. The mediocre entree and high prices will probably keep me from hurrying back, but nonetheless, I will totally be back sometime because the soup is worth it. Not to mention the service was perfect and the atmosphere is very nice. I think I owe the Tea Tree another chance, but next time I'll get a different entree. read more

I've been to Tea Tree twice and it is a good restaurant for Asian food. The Pad Thai is very nice. The place has a nice ambiance, and the service people are very pleasant. But, the food is good, but not excellent; the service very nice, but not overly fast. I guess for the prices that you pay here, I would expect a bit more pizzazz and polish. As I am not from the local area, I don't know if there are much better options for Asian fusion kind of foods, but if so, then it would be good to sample others. In summary, this is not a "go to" place that I would go out of my way to visit. read more

After waiting for about 10 mins at the front of the restaurant, we finally decided that maybe someone would see us at the bar. We were wrong, we sat at the bar and still no service!!! No one asked us if we had been help, if we would like a drink, nothing. Like we were invisible. I was very disappointed as there were a maximum of about 10 other people in the restaurant eating. I have eaten here plenty of times. The food and sushi are great but the service is sometimes slow. Recently it has become more professional. I experienced no problems my latest visit and would like to see Tea Tree's rating go up as this is a great establishment and the manager Lynn is always a pleasure to talk too. I hope it continues to grow towards the right direction. Idk why everyone on here is just complaining, the people that frequent the restaraunt really need to leve some reviews to compensate for the few bad reviews. First time visit gave me a bad impression on the waitress. When ordering an entree, the waitress did not ask if I need a soup or salad, so she assumed that I don't need either soup or salad. Then I realized the soup wasn't served and I asked the waitress. Surprisingly, she told me that I didn't mention so she ASSUMED I don't need soup or salad. This is a Hidden Gem. The atmosphere was spot on. We decided to try the Mexican Role and Crab Rangoon. My son had Teriyaki Salmon with Fresh Vegetables. Wife had Shrimp and Vegetable Stir Fry. I had the Korean Beef. We could not have been happier with our meals. Everything was prepared perfectly, fresh and very flavorful. We did not try dessert because we were to full. The staff was very friendly and we felt welcome the second we walked in the door. We are from Cincinnati and travel to Sandusky a couple times a year.
