    1. Pork Rice Bowl 卤肉饭

Good, honest homestyle Chinese cooking. Felt like I was home. The owner is kind and attentive. Food came out in minutes and was delicious. Would absolutely go back and order everything on the menu.

Daily special came in clutch. 3 chicken dumplings with the sweet and sour sauce was delicious. The chicken rice bowl with spicy as my chosen level was good. Runny egg on the rice brought everything together, and it was a very solid meal altogether. Some more customization could be nice, but I can also appreciate the simplicity of a nice chicken rice bowl.

There are some chain bubble tea places making their way into the District, but to find a place that really feels Chinese is notoriously hard in this town. This is a small restaurant with no apparent restroom that is basically a pickup window with a couple of seats indoors and outdoors, so plan accordingly. However, for someone in need of this service, they offer some good stuff. A menu special allowed me to get spring rolls and tea for a discount rate. The spring rolls were basic but good, and the tea (this one was just tea, no boba) delivered on flavor. Their food menu is basically protein over noodles, rice or salad. Ordering their spicy tofu and checking the box for maximum spiciness is no joke, as some crushed pepper on top of a robust red sauce showed me. And to top it off, this was a place where I could give a "Xiexie" and get a "bukeqi" in response (roughly translating to "thank you so much" and "you're too kind"). There's not a lot more variety here, but there have been many times when I wanted a place like this in the District and could not find one.

This is such a cute and warm space! The staff member who greeted me was very polite and welcoming. I got the matcha green tea with almond milk and it comes with boba. They also have a boba tea and spring roll special going on. I just got the tea because of food intolerances. The matcha was great. Not too sweet which was great. I think I'm used to sweeter tapioca pearls but it was good. Nice firmness, not mushy. They got my order out in under 10 minutes.

    3. Five-Spice Beef Noodle Bowl (mixed up- slightly a bit salty but still very yummy)

Very quick and welcoming experience from the owner of the restaurant. It's a small shop with a limited menu of boba tea, pan fried noodles, ramen, and dim sum snacks. I got the five spice beef noodle bow that came with an egg and mustard greens. So saucy! Love it. I'm not sure which region of china it comes from, but I love the flavours from the five spice and the chili. The beef could be more tender and I'd like it be a dash less salty, but it's a nice treat once in a while. I would still reorder. Classic boba tea-- I got the brown sugar with regular milk. Like I said-- classic. You can taste the tea and it's not too sweet. The restaurant is super tiny-- maybe 6 seats and a table outside. It's clean but it's more a quick spot to drink boba or eat quickly. It's easier to do takeout but I would definitely return!

We were in the area and would like a quick bite but tasty that doesn't break the bank.. haha. Decided to try Teashi Cafe and opted in for one of the Today's Special. Def did not disappoint, very warming and friendly service, and our food came out in prob less than 10 mins, piping hot! Ordered Pork rice bowl special that comes with Mango Passion Fruit Tea for $12.95 +tax. Great portion and actually took half of it home. There are about 2 round tables inside and a couple more of bar seating against the wall but also with 2 outdoor tables. Overall great price for taste, amount and service for quick bite in the area.

Cosy little café run by a Chinese uncle who's very friendly. I passed by this spot once and saved it on Google maps and I have been meaning to head back to check it out. The lurou rice tastes a bit more like ground pork rice but the rest of the items are decent. If I stay/work in the area, I'd love to visit more often to check out other items on the menu.

They started in the GWU food court... and now they have a storefront! I had been to the university location twice and enjoyed the food. I was surprised recently to see they had moved a little off campus into a small spot. Some of the menu is the same, but the two items I got from them in the past weren't there. Their food focuses on rice and noodles bowls, soup, snacks, and drinks. I had the Five Spicy Beef Noodle Bowl. They ask for your preferred spice level and I went the highest they had. The presentation looked great with the toppings piled on top of the noodles. There was enough beef sauce to cover the whole portion of noodles. At the highest spice level, it was just right for me! I took my meal to-go, but if I needed a quick bite I would eat in the restaurant. It's small dining area near where you order, so it's ideal for you with 1-2 people or yourself to eat inside. A shoutout to the owner who was very nice to talk to when I waited for my food, which didn't take long.

From my 7-year-old, "This food is amazing! It has a bit of spice and a bit of sweetness. And the boba tea is so good! The bobas have such a nice bite. This is my new favorite restaurant." We did really enjoy this cute restaurant with reasonable prices and great service!

I and my friend both got Thai tea latte and mango bubble tea. And both of us hated it so much that we had to throw it! Very disappointing.

Reasonable pricing, fantastic ramen. "Spicy" isn't too hot, doesn't mask the flavor. Very polite staff. Will be back often!

The restaurant I very clean and the decorations are really pretty. We ordered soup dumplings and noodles and our food was ready really fast. I ordered the veg spicy and sour noodles and they come with an egg and crispy pieces of corn and a lot of boi hot which I love. The flavor was spicy with a hint of lime for the sour flavor. My husband ordered the beef noodle soup and he said it tasted amazing. Our chicken soup dumplings were full of flavor and a lot of broth inside. This place is really similar to Yu noodles which is one of my favorite places so if I'm ever in the area again I would go to this place for soup dumplings. Our server was really sweet as well.

Our order was brought out faster than I expected, with our mains coming up before the apps. Although not as spicy as I was hoping for, the spicy mapo tofu with noodles was really good. Of course I had to add ground pork for a few dollars more! To drink I had the strawberry fruit tea (50% sugar), which was good and refreshing. I also tried the pan fried dumplings and spicy wontons in chili oil. Both were just okay. I'll be back when I'm in the area to try out additional items.
