I waited a few days before writing this because my initial review would have just been a bunch of "COME ON!!!" and cursing. On 10/16 my niece decided to put a badly screwed on jar of apple juice in my computer bag. An hour later when we were at lunch I reached for my wallet and found that said apple juice was now empty. Immediately pulled out my computer. First thing I did was head to Apple. Because the computer is new but without AppleCare I was told that it'll be cheaper to have it fixed by a third party and was recommended Tech2U which is only minutes from Arden Fair where I was. I called over to Tech2U and they sympathized and also said yeah, we can definitely fix it for you come on over. My mistake was listening to a salesperson. I get there 30 min later and opt for the rush diagnostic ($50). At this point the computer is working but there are wet spots on the screen internally that show up on the display. By the time I get home (an hour later) they call with an update. They need to replace the screen and it will cost $608 for the part plus $180 labor. Ok. Cool. Just do it. I paid the part cost over the phone. They told me they would call me with an update as soon as it was installed. I call them on the 23rd asking for an update and find out that the part had arrived and they had fixed it (thanks for calling like you said you would ) BUT that now the Touch Bar was shorting and bringing the screen brightness down to below 25%. They would need to replace that and the keyboard and it would be an additional $500. Sigh. Ok, yep, do it. A little while later the tech calls again to say they can't source the part needed in the silver color and can only get it in space gray. Again, I don't care and tell them that's fine. He calls a minute later to reconfirm and offers to refund me for parts and take it to Apple. But problem is I'm headed out of town. He says no problem we can fix it. I pay for the part the next day. I get back into town on the 28th and get a call midday from the tech saying they ordered the wrong part and that they can't even order the correct part. How the hell are you going to be a tech place advertising that you can fix Apple products but you can't even source the correct parts?? They tell me they'll refund me for the parts but not the diagnostic fee. I go in and pick up my computer and am told they can't refund me for 5 business days. And sorry they can't fix my computer. I head straight to Apple and FINALLLLLLY talk to a tech and not a salesperson. That tech told me after diagnosing the problem that it would only be $459 and no, there is NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TOUCHBAR. So not only are these people incompetent and unable to source the correct Apple parts but they are also liars. I can't believe I wasted two weeks of my time on this. Not to mention I'm still not refunded now 5 days later and I paid $50 for all this inconvenience. The tech couldn't even come out to the counter to speak to me when I picked up. Absolutely unprofessional. I have no idea how they have so many good reviews. Do not take your Apple products to them. Chances are if it's new they're not able to help you. read more

I did not have a great experience with this place. They misdiagnosed my laptop issues and cost me an extra $150 for the services that were not needed. Also almost made me pay $172 for a service that was not going to fix the issue. I have an Acer Aspire laptop that was having issue with it not charging. The first time I went they told me I needed a new charger so I bought a charger through them. Try the new charger and still the same issue. Battery was not charging. Then they did a diagnostic test and said a brand new battery was needed. So I ordered a brand new battery through them (almost $80). I took the laptop into Best Buy for them to put the battery in and they told me the previous place had not given me the correct issue because the battery was fine it was the motherboard that was having issues and needed repair. Ended up spending too much money and still have a non working laptop read more

I am a business owner with a semi complex tech setup. The techs at Tech 2U know their stuff. A few years ago our server crashed, due to bad maintenance by the former tech company. All the warning signs were there that the drives were going out, but nothing was done. Had I known these were warning signs I could have done something. Anyways, our former tech company found Tech 2U as a possibility of drive recovery. Tech 2U gave it a try but were unable to salvage them. I had to see a drive recovery specialist in San Jose. Big bucks. (Do not let your drives die without 2 backups. We were supposed to be backed up, but were not. #@$!! ) So I drove to San Jose, thank goodness he was able to get the data off of them, and our crappy old server was able to be saved. Merely in passing, when I picked up our drives from Tech 2U before heading to San Jose, I asked, "Do you guys work on business servers and networks too, or just home computers?" The logo and store front on Howe looked like just a home computer place. "We definitely work for businesses!" I was told. A week or so after the crappy old server was up and running Tech 2U came by. I went for convinience of having repair come to me. Too bad. I spent more than $500 to replace a mother board after a lapse of use for two months in mid November. Forward to march the same problem appears. Complete non responsive screen. I called tech 2 u and they were willing to check it out again for a fee or I could bring in my large screen iMac and they would check it in their shop. I chose to take it to apple in arden fair. The problem was fixed on the spot, but they could not check it further because Tech 2 u is not an apple authorized shop. The tech 2 u said it could deal with apple products, but I did not check if it was an authorized shop. If you have an apple just take it in to apple. read more

They came out right away but couldn't fix my desktop. They took into the shop and later said the motherboard was bad. They quoted me $229 to download the hard drive to my 3 TB drive. It turns out my 3TB drive was bad. I sent another drive, they downloaded all my data and now everything is fine. I will call them the next time I need help. read more

I took it in to the shop on Lake Murray Drive, talked the the Tech, explained the situation. He informed me that turnaround time was about 14 days, due to lost employees during this time. It specifically stated no warranties with purchase however when my daughter tried to unplug the power cord, it immediately died. Not sure really how this place has such good reviews. I was having issues with my computer for a while, and I'd been replacing hardware since I couldn't figure out the problem. Eventually I got to the point where I needed someone else to look at my PC's hardware and run it through some tests to find out where the issue was. I'm not the most computer savvy, but I'm also not computer illiterate; I could find all the standard tests online, but I wasn't too keen on downloading software to put maximum load on my components and figured professionals would be better. This is where Tech 2U comes in. I first called them Monday morning and told them in as much detail as possible what problems I was experiencing and for how long. I saw online they had a mobile service and was hoping that someone could come by my place to do some diagnostics, but the technician on the phone told me I would need to bring it in to have it tested. He implied that it would take approximately two hours to do a full diagnostic (for FREE) on the PC. Sounded like a good deal to me, but as it's so often said, "if it seems too good to be true, it is." When I arrived at Tech 2U I was first helped by Kyle. He was really friendly and put me at ease with the process. I've spent a lot of money on my PC's hardware, so I'm really hesitant to have anyone else keep it for extended periods of time. I definitely didn't want to leave my PC overnight. (I should note that I also contacted Fry's about a diagnostic. They told me it would take about 5 days and cost $80 to run.) I explained to Kyle about the phone call that morning and the tech on the phone told me I could drop it off and pick it up in a few hours. Kyle explained that would not be likely as they take PCs on a first-come-first-serve basis. He explained that it being a Monday, they had a bigger queue, and it might take four to five DAYS to get my PC back on a free diagnostic. However, he offered me a "rush service" that would cost $50 but would allow me to "jump" the line and I was assured that the computer would be done before 5:00 that evening. I ultimately elected to go with this service mostly because I was provided an assurance the testing would be completed before the day's end, and I had a lot of reluctance to leave the PC overnight. I was provided the technician's name who would be working on my PC, his schedule in the store, and also that he'd begin working on my PC as soon as he got back from lunch, which was in approximately 30 minutes (it was around 1:30 PM when I dropped my PC off). As time is going by, I finally get a call from the technician Sean around 4:30 PM. Sean implies that he had "just started" on my PC recently and was running a CPU load test (Prime95) but he wanted to run additional tests in the morning. At this point my anxiety is just going up, but I really want them to get to the bottom of the issue, so I feel there's no choice but to agree. I've already agreed to pay $50 for a rush service, why not let it run its course. He told me he would call with an update in the morning. The next day Sean calls me around 11:30 and says they weren't able to find any problems with my PC's hardware and that he can't recommend replacing any of the hardware at the time, just upgrading my cooling system and possibly converting from an HDD to an SSD. Which is all fine and great but the whole reason I wanted them to look at my PC was to find out where the actual problem was occurring, and they weren't even able to recreate the issue. When I arrived at the store later that afternoon, I was greeted by an employee who asked how he could assist me. I told him I was there to pick up a PC and what my name was. He got the PC for me and I asked him if he was familiar with the tests done on the PC or if I could speak with Sean before I left. That's when he told me that he was Sean, and it was really awkward. I had to ask him specifically which tests were conducted on my PC, and he seemed off-put by having to tell me. I finally found out they tested the CPU with prime95, the RAM with memtest (which they said they ran 15 hours and I actually do appreciate), and FurMarK to stress test the GPU, and the PC passed all tests. I also asked him if any software was installed on my PC, and if so, was it removed afterward? Sean told me that no software was installed on the PC for their testing. That was surprising to me, but I trusted him. The place has great reviews, after all. I thought maybe they put my components into a working motherboard or had some other way to test the hardware, that's why I was willing to pay them to do the tests I could have downloaded myself and run. It was much to my surprise that when I took the PC home and booted it up, FurMarK was still installed. I get that they ran those tests, I just don't appreciate them lying to my face about it and talking to me like I'm an idiot. I can't recommend this place to anyone, you can find all the tests free on Google they use in store. read more

Do not use Tech2you. I brought in my laptop for a thermal swap. When I get it back I had it for less than 24 hours and it completely died. I brought it back and they said it was a total motherboard failure. They said the laptop would have to be replaced. I had two telephone calls with Tech 2U. I first called because I couldn't access my emails, which were ATT. The first telephone call resulted in my having a G Mail account, which wasn't good because I couldn't access any addresses or information I had stored at the ATT site. Then the G Mail disappeared and I had nothing. When I called to report that I couldn't access ATT generally, that I didn't like having a G Mail account, and I wanted someone to actually come to the computer and get it back to its usual condition, I was told it would be an additional fee. Why should I pay an additional fee when the work was not completed to my satisfaction? I will NEVER recommend Tech 2U to anyone. read more
