I'm there with Zoya R. Paid a Rush fee and got a 12 day turnaround. Salesman talked me into a rebuild of my HP for $1200 another $200 to repair their errors, and the d**n thing still would not work, riddled with new problems after they installed new Windows 10 system. I could have bought a NEW computer for under $900, but I trusted them. My complaints were met by arrogant comments like, "If you don't want to do the repair yourself, take your car to a shop where you have to pay the mechanic to do the repair". Yeah, take the car in for an oil change and it is returned to you with the tailpipe missing and a stripped ignition, and they want you to pay for that. Multiple remotes (never the same technician twice), return of the unit to the shop, all the while I had work deliveries I could not make. Lost a major client because I could not send him files. The "Rush" fee was never removed after Day 12! Computer still has a grinding sound, with mouse and keyboard frequently sticking. Will never let them touch the HP again. I cannot figure how these guys got a top rating and "Best in Sac". Last word from them was the utterly banal "Have a nice day", the same poop gum-snapping teen age girls are scripted to say when shoppers have real problems. "Have a nice day" has become the code phrase for "f**k you", and everyone knows that. Sign me thoroughly disgusted. read more

Called for a remote servicing...computer freezing up and extremely slow...they remotely checked for problems...according to them...nothing major. They spent 3.5 hours going through all the files...and selling me a years contract of Webroot secure...$228.00 later...my computer is going completely berserk after 30 minutes online...when I called to complain, the guy on the phone talked fast and hard over me and would not listen...I had one choice...no credit for initial non-fix...they could try again at full cost...no customer service whatsoever...had no concern for the fact I had paid and they had found nothing...and had exacerbated the problem with their "cleaning"....I'll go somewhere else now...at the very least I would like to know that a business gives a darn that I am unsatisfied...and will work to find common ground to make me happy...they were not in the least concerned. read more

I went to this facility to have a battery replaced in my laptop computer. They quoted $99.00 but told me that the power cord outlet on the computer was faulty and needed to be replaced, and alot more work would be needed before they could replace the battery. I went there with a new battery in a sealed box and they opened the box while I stepped outside to get the power cord. Opening the box makes the battery impossible to return. I left the shop and returned home. There is nothing wrong with the power cord outlet and the computer charges fine. These people are crooks--don't bother going there. read more

This company, Tech 2U repaired two of the Google Nexus 7 (32 gb) tablets for me/my grandsons which I thought were a total loss. Both purchased for the holidays in 2012 had been dropped and cracked prior to reaching the holidays of 2013. After searching online I learned that finding a repair service for these tablets may prove to be quite a challenge and didn't involve just the screens as the screens are actually virtually impossible to separate for their backing so you may as well buy both parts. Was I thrilled when I called Tech 2U and they not only told me they would fix them, they would also give me a slight discount for bringing in two. Here's where it got interesting. The first company they ordered parts from, [in China of course] the parts were faulty and the sensitivity on the screens when installed was not the same on all areas of of the screen. At no additional cost, they ordered the parts through a different distributor. Once they opened the second tablet to install, they learned there was an additional broken part from the fall/blow to the tablet (my grandsons live in the midwest and when slipping on ice the tablet took flight). The only additional cost I paid over the original quote was for their cost of this part. Because the tablets took so much longer to repair than originally expected and my grandsons had returned home from their holiday vacation to CA, Tech 2U even shipped the tablets at their expense to my grandsons' home to compensate. The tablets are now encompassed in OtterBox covers!!!! I am very satisfied with Tech 2U service, their keeping me posted on the challenges they were facing, that they didn't give up on repairing the tablets even though it seems this was a very low profit margin by the time they completed this challenging project. If you have a Google Nexus 7 that needs repair, I'd definitely recommend you take it here and see if you can make it a useful tablet instead of a 'brick.' (which is what I initially thought the tablets would be after reading all the online challenges and no service in this area) Kudos Tech 2U! Really appreciate you all! read more

I had a few experiences with Tech 2U and each was great! 2 times they came by for different problems on different computers and fixed them! I took my old computer in and had it cleaned out and started from fresh and it works great! They remote fixed my laptop. I use it for work and I had pop ups and re directs like crazy. My wifes comp suddenly failed, had gray screen with No audio, took it to Tech 2u howe store front for their $45 dollar diagnostic. She explained that she had a blank screen and needed to know what was wrong and if it was not fixable that she needed to retrieve the data. They said they would run the diagnostics and call with the results. When they called they said the operating system was badly corrupted. She asked if that could cause the screen on the monitor to be blank. They said possibly. She agreed to have them clean it up restoring the operating system and the data for $295. When when she brought the computer home and plugged it into the monitor after paying $295 for the repairs there was still a blank screen. She called Tech2U back to question what they had done for the $295. The technician asked if the situation had not been explained to me that the DVI port was no good. She said no that hadn't been explained to her. Thus she had paid for services she did not ask for or need. It turned out through our own investigations that the monitor being old had just died . Had I been told the failure was her monitor, we have the original OS disc and I have enough comp skills to have backed up the data and re-installed the OS. Had Tech 2u simply told me my monitor was 95% probably the problem, I would be happy to pay the $45 dollar diagnostic fee. When I asked a supervisor if He thought an adjustment to the bill was in order since they had hidden from me the fact that the comp worked when they used their monitor. He said "No" read more

Tech 2U has motivated, energetic, knowledgeable staff who are attentive to my needs. Losing PC functionality as a result of two simultaneous viruses is maddening and frustrating. But the Tech2U staff not only fixed the problems, but they also let me know from the beginning of the service call that everything would be OK. I calmed down and it turned out better than OK. They eradicated the viruses, recovered some lost data and restored my Apps to proper working condition. All of that was completed in the minimum service call time so it was a great deal for me. Decent service...if you don't mind the wait or the price. I took my laptop in around the end of August. The audio and wi-fi had suddenly stopped working, and I had been getting the blue screen of death for a while. It's five years old, so it was due for a problem, I guess. The tech who took my PC called me a couple days later with a diagnosis. He told me that he felt it was a certain problem, and he would try something out, and that the total would come down to $189. I winced a bit at the price but I had no choice. The tech called me with an update a few days later, saying that what he tried hadn't worked, but by looking at the hardware, he felt if he replaced the motherboard, it would solve the issue- for an additional $140. I might as well have put the nearly $400 I would be spending into a new laptop. I balked at this, saying I couldn't afford to pay so much. He quickly suggested a cheaper audio board which he thought might also work, that would only be $30. While I wish this was the first option mentioned, I appreciated the fact that he mentioned it all- I guess he didn't want to lose the sale, because at this point I would have to cut my losses and take my laptop elsewhere. He said the part would come in a week or so. About a week later, I received a call saying that the good news was that the audio board did fix the issue, but the audio board they received had been damaged- the external microphone was broken. I was surprised that instead of apologizing and saying they would immediately order a new part, they asked if I still wanted the damaged part, and that they'd knock off $10. Yeah...no. I contemplated taking it as I just wanted my laptop back after not having it for several weeks, but I soon realized paying for a damaged part was not in my best interest, and I asked them to get another one. I get the damage of the part wasn't their fault, but if I didn't indicate I needed it rushed, why even ask if I wanted a broken part...? Another week passed. Finally, I received a call notifying me that the part had come in and my laptop was ready for a morning pickup. I picked it up with no problems, and while it still seemed to be updating, even though they said it was done, I've had it for a few days now and I've had no issues. Overall, I was satisfied and would go back again. I appreciated them constantly updating me and letting me know what and when things were happening. I didn't appreciate the time it took. You can get it expedited, but that of course costs extra. And it was a bit pricey- I'm not sure how much that fix would have cost me elsewhere, but I wouldn't have minded the time it took- three weeks!- if it had been $100, maybe $150. My 18 month old daughter was sick and puked right into my wife's Macbook keyboard- needless to say, it stopped working! She suggested I call Tech 2U, so I did, because it was convenient that they actually drive to you. The person on the phone was very friendly and enthusiastic, said he would have a technician over to my house by 7pm. Around 6pm, Tech 2U actually calls me back, says the tech is stuck pretty far away in bad traffic and will likely be late. I tell them no problem, and they take $20 off the price right there. Pretty happy with it. The technician finally shows up after getting lost and a few back and forth phone calls, pretty awkward dude but hey, all I need him to do is pick up the computer, take it back to the shop and change the keyboard out- I tell him, I know this is what it needs, just go ahead and take it and get it done, and might as well change the battery out, too, while you have it. He takes it and leaves, about 2 days (yes, 2 days) later I get a voicemail that says, "You need to get your keyboard and battery replaced, please call and authorize the repairs." I'm a bit annoyed that it's taken them 2 days to figure out what I already told them, and that they need it authorized again, even though I already told them to do it, but I call the main number, tell him to go for it, and he says he'll relay the message to the technician. A WEEK goes by, and my wife gets a really annoyed call from the technician, stating he is still waiting on authorization to do the repairs, really chewing her out for not getting back to him. She's upset but obviously wants her computer fixed so she gives him the go-ahead (for a third time). He says it'll take about another week for the parts to come in. Sigh. Anyway, the parts come in, the computer gets fixed, I call the main number and talk with the manager, explain the situation and my frustration. He is very sympathetic and apologetic, says they've had problems with this particular tech before in the customer service realm, they're working on it, and he gave me another $40 off for the inconvenience. Long story short: CONS: Tech was late, took WAY too long to do the repairs, communication between central number and the tech was faulty, the tech himself was very rude. PROS: They got the job done, the computer is back in beautiful working condition, price was fairly reasonable (about $430 total after the discounts), they came to us, manager was very receptive to feedback, gave us total $60 discount for various inconveniences, sounds like it's probably just the one bad egg technician, and it does sound like they are trying to improve things for future customers. Upshot: I would probably use them if I had computer issues again. Definitely would ask for a different tech, though. read more

I am updating my review, because I had a great experience earlier today with the manager of the store, Danny. Danny called me today, and to be honest, he is the best part of this store. He was extremely apologetic and understanding of my situation. In fact, he corroborated the story I was telling the employee on Monday about how Danny told me I should get my part for free. I am reposting a new review, because Danny went above and beyond to fix my little "situation". People like Danny are why I will continue to use this business. They are conveniently located in the same shopping center as Arigatou's and Round Table on Howe Ave. The location is nice and it's very clean. I've seen some other computer repair stores that looks like the front of a pawn shop, so I decided to come here. I have a massive gaming computer with a water cooling system. They might even remember me because my tower is such a beast! Anyways, I had it for less than a year when something happened to it and I suspected that it was probably a cooling problem. Normally, I would just do the fixing myself, but the beast is cooled by a water system and there was no way I wanted to even try to fix it if it was a problem with the cooling. When I brought it in, the guys in the store were really nice. Now, maybe I should have simply stated the problem with the computer and not lead them on to check the cooling system, which is what I believe happened. They had my computer for a couple days and called me to pick it up. They said they checked the cooling system and that everything was working. I took it home and it did exactly what it was doing before. Not working. It was hot that day and I decided that it would not be worth it to take it back to the shop that day. I brought it back the next day and the guy at the counter remembered my beast and I explained to him the problem. He took it, said I was still under warranty (30 days). I got a call back in a couple days to pick it up. The same guy was there when I went to pick it up and he explained to me that the cooling system wasn't working right with the bios and that they fixed that (which was my 2nd guess to what was wrong). I took it home and was raiding with it the same day, yay! All in all, it wasn't a bad experience. Yes, I was out my computer for 5 days. I wasn't too thrilled about it, but I was happier to have my beast working again. The cost of the repair was $129. No special parts were purchased as it was a software issue. It's been a couple months since I had my computer serviced and it still works great. I'm thinking of bringing my laptop to get fixed here soon. read more
