I have a 1991 BMW 850i, 6 speed. These are very complex and rare vehicles, and I was having some issues with drivability (car felt like it was down on power). Decided to give Technica Motorsports a chance, given their Yelp reviews and reputation on the BMW forums. Technica motorsports billed me in the area of $4,500 to replace the following items in the engine: 2 sets of ignition wires (one set for each bank) 12 spark plugs 2 distributor caps and rotors The work was performed in 2015. It's been almost 6 years, and I'm still trying to undo the mess they caused. Crucially, they billed me for correct, OEM parts when aftermarket ignition wires were used, and in addition, did not replace the #6 ignition wire. This wire is the most crucial, as it sends a signal to the engine computer regarding ignition timing - without it, the car will not run well. I've spent thousands of dollars undoing the incompetent job they performed. At this point, I cannot trust the work performed above, or any other work performed, as it's impossible to tell what corners were cut while they did their "work." They will pass themselves off as being competent techs, but they really aren't - one of them tried telling me that my car required premium, which it does not. For the record, this is an M70 V12 motor, which BMW themselves says requires 87 octane (it's a very low compression motor without knock sensors). May seem like a simple thing, but when their representative assures you they're absolutely right, that shows the amount of misplaced hubris this company has. They're also very pricey, and are obviously not worth the gas to drive down to them. For anyone looking for quality work, look somewhere else (such as German Car Repair, in Alpharetta - which I have no affiliation with). Please, save your sanity and your pocketbook. If I weren't outside of the GA statute of limitations, I would proceed down a legal avenue. read more

I'll keep this short and sweet. The warranty on my BMW X5 was up and I needed new front and back brakes. I shopped around and Technica Motorsports came in wayyyyyyyy under the competition...so much lower that I had to call them back and make sure they quoted me for the correct thing. lol. The conversation went something like this: Me: yes, I called earlier and got a price for brakes and I just want to make sure you quoted me correctly because your quote was way wayyy lower than the other companies I called. I'm talking like half of what the others charged. Them: yeah, the price is correct. We mostly do performance enhancement type work, but also do lots of regular jobs for our customers, their mothers, their fathers, their kids. We don't believe in bending people over and unnecessarily taking their money, but we'll be happy to charge you a higher price if you'd like. Me: no, no...that's not necessary...so when can I bring the car in?! Service was fast and I'm back rolling again without all the noise when I press the brakes. Check them out! read more

The guys at Technica are fantastic. Jordan and Bret are straight up serious car enthusiasts and ethical businessmen. The only thing that may outweigh those facts is their technical prowess and ability to work on fine automobiles. For some time I had high hopes that this shop would be the fix it all for my vehicle. After my last repair costing nearly 10k, I got my car back to simply return in less than a week. The answer I got was the car is getting older and parts will start to break (imagine that) E60 M5 with less than 100k. I truly feel as if this shop sabotaged my vehicle. The correspondences less than professional. If you're a repair shop not sure why you feel as if the consumer should eat the cost for parts that don't fix the problem. It's simply one excuse after another. They had my car for over two weeks, I called daily and never was advised of the progress. After two weeks and no feedback I was told it would be over 2k (GTFOH). Took my car to a shop I should have never left in the 1st place. If you track your car and simply want to rebuild after each meet, this is the shop for you otherwise stay the fuck away from them. I can't be disappointed in no one but myself for thinking this would be worth my time and money. Never again and everyone needs to know this if you're looking for quality service from a shop that cares nothing about the consumer, but more about themselves and their pockets spread the word and don't be fooled with the comment of all the Bmw shops in the area come to them to fix the problems they can't. read more

Should have wrote this review a long time ago. Had my car trailered there for a full motor rebuild and custom turbo kit in my Z3 M Coupe. They did an AMAZING job not only on what I requested but also noted a few things to address while they had the car there. Nice shop, fair pricing and great guys. Recently took them my M Roadster for a general check-up and they were able to quickly diagnose and repair the issues I was experiencing. They also recommended other items that would keep me on the road and out of the shop longer, but did not "hunt" for just anything to repair either. Jordan and the team are very knowledgeable and I am hard pressed to find a higher level of customer service! Guys don't know about newer BMW's; only older cars. Guys spent two weeks fixing my car and couldn't figure it out and still charged me $400.

I met these guys years back in a previous location. The car I was driving was not at all "me". I had been dreaming about how to get behind the wheel of a car that was "me", fitting my unique requirements. I arrived unexpected and unannounced. The guys were returning from a track event. They were a buzz with the day's excitement. None the less, these guys welcomed me in and changed their focus to me. I made it clear I DIDN'T HAVE ANY MONEY OR EVEN A REAL PLAN. We spent 30-45 minutes talking about some ideas I'd been mulling over and it turned into a brainstorm. I could tell these guys were not only steeped in Go Fast BMWs, they were critical thinking problem solvers. I left there with good ideas confirmed, bad ones scrapped, and some new ones to ponder. I'm sure it was not how they planned to spend that time, but they were there... FOR ME. Great Service. Fast forward to earlier this year to find Technica in its new home and me with a Go Fast BMW platform. Again I showed up out of the blue not having spoken for 3 or so years. On the fly, we came up with a plan and the incremental steps to take. We began immediately. While the big picture is not complete, the first step, engine swap, is done. The car runs like a dream and makes better power than expected. It is the most fun I've had behind the wheel for less money than I thought possible. If you want "Go Fast", go to Technica.
