The customer service at this business was atrocious. I dropped a pair of denim off to be hemmed. She called me the next day to let me know they were ready for pickup and that she would be there until 4p. I arrived at 3:30p, and she was trying to rush me out of the business before even trying the jeans on because she had to run an errand, which I thought was weird in and of itself. I tried on the jeans and went to the counter to pay, and she then notified me that she only accepted cash and insisted that she told me that when I initially dropped them off, which she did not. She then rudely continued to rush me to go to the ATM because she had to leave. The owner of this business was not kind, nor remotely concerned with customer service. I will say, the work done was of passable quality, and the turnaround time was quick. But I would not do business with this vendor again. read more

This spot was so comically bad in service and the owner's demeanor, I have to award it my rare 1 star. Here's the cliff notes if you don't want to read this unusually long review. The owner is mean, insulting and forgetful and provides poor service (lost my shirts, didn't call me when she said she would). Let's start from the beginning: I brought in some shirts to this spot as i do not know the area and this spot had good reviews on here (though i only read the positive ones-big mistake). Most of the reviews revolved around tailoring and i just needed some shirts cleaned but I figured this looks good. I drove there on a Saturday where apparently there is only one way to enter the store on the weekends. Being confused after I parked my car (mistakenly in the garage which costs a minimum of $3), i called the store and asked where the entrance is. The owner felt the need to call me stupid for not knowing. I debated leaving at that point but hey i paid $3 to park so i'll continue. I came in and dropped the shirts off. The woman (i guess this is Toni who another reviewing called a "hoot"-i respectfully disagree) then got annoyed because i forgot to take collar stays out of a couple of my shirts which took about 45 seconds to remove. Apparently i was holding her up despite there being nobody else in the store. Either way, she told me she would call me on Tuesday when the shirts were ready and bragged about her 39 years experience. I left annoyed at her attitude, but figured at least i'll get shirts done by an experienced place. Of course, no call came on Tuesday, so I called on Wednesday. I now read other reviews here on yelp and realized she does have an attitude problem and often forgets to call and gets annoyed when you tell her she forgot so I did not bother telling her. She said she had to pick up the shirts from a third party cleaner and would have them shortly. She then seemed to have no record of what i asked for (no starch) and said she will charge me whatever is on the receipt she did not give me despite the fact that I asked. I said i'd show up the next day or day after and grab them. I came by the next day (this time finding a cheaper spot to park...on the street) and asked for my shirts. She said "Oh you're [wrong name?" "Nope i'm [correct name]" I replied. "Oh, you mean [correct name pronounced with a different vowel]" "No, my name is [Correct name]" "Well i like calling you [correct name pronounced with a different vowel]". I said well that is not my name-would you like it if i pronounced your name wrong? Incidentally my name is a fairly common one-it is not difficult. Anyway, guess what? No shirts! She could not find them. "You mean the all white shirt order" she said. "Nope" i said. She seemed to have no clue then bragged to me about how she has never lost shirts in 39 years. She said they're probably with another customer's order and she would deliver them. Though she seemed to have no clue where i lived despite supposedly being in the area for 39 years. I showed her on googlemaps. She later called me with the shirts and said i have to be available to meet her because she does not take credit cards (really? in 2024?). She did finally come to drop off the shirts (after I rearranged my schedule to meet her and yet she still came almost 2 hrs late causing me to run out of a meeting early). I finally got the shirts back but honestly (a) the insulting attitude and (b) the forgetfulness about everything having to do with the order including losing my shirts (c) not calling me when she said she would other than when i threatened her if she didn't find my shirts immediately. This woman is mean and forgetful. I'll be finding another spot in the future. read more

Toni is nothing short of amazing. I came a Thursday morning with 2 pieces - a dress & pants - I needed hemmed. I had brought these pieces in 2 weeks before my honeymoon taking into account buffer time for the work to be done (& wedding season is upon us). To my pleasant surprise Toni said she would have the 2 pieces done same day - without me asking for a rush job or anything. I picked them up the next morning. It was $50 for both. Toni was super nice and wished me a wonderful honeymoon. I will definitely be back for her services in the future. read more

My family and I have been going to Toni for years due to location convenience. Although she can do a good job, her prices have increased and are much too high for even a small task. She often closes the store to run errands, and takes a while to finish the job- there is no telling how long something will actually take. She is extremely rude and it was overlooked for years as she has done a good job, but my last interaction with her nailed the coffin in our relationship. I called her to ask a question regarding a hem, and our call was disconnected. I then called back and she immediately berated me on the phone, not even bothering to know who was calling, and said I was extremely rude and disrespectful for hanging up on her, and how dare I do such a thing she is a busy business. She then asked what I wanted and was extremely rude in her answer. I regret all the TIPS and service my family and I have given her over the years. She is absolutely not worth going to. 0% chance recommend as there are many other tailors in the area who have manners and aren't overpriced. read more

Toni saved my husbands favorite jacket!! I got him this jacket a couple of years ago & this winter it finally ripped near the seam of the pocket. Because of the material it was literally shredding and I thought there was no hope for saving it & came here as a Hail Mary. My husband was looking to buy the same jacket again but because it's several years old we couldn't find it anywhere. Well, Toni told me like it is and gave me realistic expectations (which I thoroughly appreciated). She charged me a reasonable price and had it done in a couple of hours! The turnaround time was amazing (brought in first thing in the morning and was ready by that afternoon!) and her rates are very reasonable, 5 inches hemmed for $30. Toni could be the best tailor in the northern hemisphere, but it is just not worth it. I wanted to pay her upfront and when she said no and that she would let me know when the product was finished, I got an earful when I questioned whether she called. While she was right and had called me, I thought I was being berated by my mother. She told me that she "gets agitated when people question whether she called." She also told me that she was going on vacation and when I asked her when she was going on vacation, she said, "I'm not going to tell you." She called this morning again and immediately hung up. I just went to landmark tailor to get a dress hemmed. This woman is like the female version of Mario the Tailor (see their reviews). Calls herself a tailor, but says she isn't capable of hemming a dress to be longer in the back than in the front as I wanted (shortening the dress as per its original lines). She was extremely unfriendly, and before refusing to do the simple job, she barked orders at me - "Stand still!" "Don't move!" "I said, don't move!" Didn't want to pin the hem because she said she didn't have time for pinning. Bullied and berated me. So rude. Said, "You need a dressmaker not a tailor. I don't have time for this." I know dry cleaners who have done more complex jobs. Crazy. read more

First off I didn't actually have anything done here. I work across the street and wanted to see what my options were for tailors in the area so I dropped by while I was walking around the mall. I noticed a list on the counter and started to look it over. A woman walks over to me and the following happened. Woman: Can I help you? Me: Oh I was just looking to see what tailoring cost were. Woman: That won't be on there. Only someone who knows what they are doing can tell you. (In a very rude manner might I add). So what can I help you with? Me: How much is it to hem pants? Woman: $16 and another $1 for a cuff. At this point I left. $16 to hem pants is quite expensive... Also the fact that she was so rude made me not want to bring my business here. read more

I was in a pinch and brought her a dress that needed a hem and alteration on a very tight turnaround timeframe and she pulled it off for me as a same-day service. The job she did was impeccable as she is extremely talented. Plus, she is an amazing, sweet, and funny woman so it is lovely to spend time with her. Where do I begin on my magnificent experience?! I was heading out of the country for a wedding and had a dress for years that I LOVED but had never worn. It was too difficult to get over my shoulders, even though once on, it fit great. I was hoping a tailor could put a zipper in but after three different tailors told me there was nothing they could do, I just stumbled up this location. With all hope lost, I assumed they wouldn't be able to help me either. Boy was I wrong. The LOVELY lady told me she didn't quite know how, but that if she could have a couple days, she would figure out how to help me. Well, a couple days later I received a phone call to come in. And when I did, I was BLOWN AWAY by the work. Not only had she added a zipper and it fit PERFECTLY, but she had to cut through the detail of the fabric and make it line up. It certainly couldn't have been an easy job. At this point I was willing to pay any price for her help, and I almost choked when she gave me her minimal fee for her gorgeous work. I couldn't believe it. She should actually charge more because it's work unlike any I've seen before. As someone in the entertainment industry that worked many years in costumes with professional wardrobe departments, I would say I'm hard to please when it comes to tailoring my clothing. And I'm literally still blown away with the job she did. I had such a wonderful experience, it was worth taking the time to write this review. I will now no longer take my clothing anywhere else. Toni is one of the sweetest and most helpful ladies in Stamford. To date, I have: -brought my coats to have their buttons refastened, -my clothes to be dry-cleaned, -my pants to be hemmed, -my shirts to be mended -my leather jacket to have its lining replaced. Every time, Toni has delivered exactly what I wanted. She is a professional. Toni takes great care of her customers and always takes an interest in their lives. Even if I have nothing to clean or be mended, I'll stop in on my way back from lunch to say hello--and then someone else will stop by and do the same. She has well-wisher pile-ups. Because of her location (Landmark Square) she has a lot of office clients from the immediate area. Although I've only moved to Stamford recently, you can tell that Toni is an local institution, and part of the social fabric--so to speak. She's been here for years, but will make a new client feel like part of the inner circle. Of course I wish her prices were as competitive as one can find in the City. However, her skill, results and personal touch are why we continue to keep coming back. If only she did shoes! read more

I've been going here for years. Yes, can be a little pricey if the item you're altering was cheap in the first place, but they always do an excellent job and you know you're getting your money's worth. Ex: Shortening pants is generally $15 (I could go to a cheaper tailor for $10) but I know I'll get them perfectly altered here. I decided to give Landmark a try after reading the reviews on this site (even the negative one). And I couldn't have been happier about it. I almost always need my pants and shirts shortened and I've tried many different tailors in the past with varying results (a lot of tailors really mess up the sleeves). Landmark is much better than all the tailors I've tried in the past. I had a pair of pants and a shirt adjusted here and will definitely go back for all my future tailoring needs. I had a great experience here! The woman was very friendly and hemmed my pants in 20 minutes while I shopped around the mall. Pants looked great! The location is in that hallway between the mall and the movie theater if you're familiar with Stamford Mall. Do.not.love.this.tailor. I take some of the blame for not doing more research, and having to rush the alterations for my MOH dress for my sister's wedding. That said, they were very abrasive, actually stuck pins in my skin while trying to fit the dress to me, and kept telling me to stand differently and making me super uncomfortable, in a not so private room. Dress came back, not completely how I asked for it, so I had to tell them to 'try again.' Second time was a charm, and the dress fit, but terrible experience. read more

I am new to the area, and vertically challenged. After reading all the stellar reviews, I decided to use Landmark Tailors. This was a frustrating, expensive mistake that cost me time, money and 3 brand-new dresses. I am pregnant and needed 4 maternity dresses simply hemmed. I called ahead to find out the store hours and was told they would be open until 2:30 - this was a Saturday. As for the location, there is no street parking in the area, you need to park in a structure that charges a $4 minimum fee. So tack on (at least - see below) $8 to whatever price you pay for the service. When I arrived at 11:30 am, I was rushed through my fitting. The woman there complaining that she needed to go to the bank. 3 of the dresses were very basic, cotton, literally just needed a very very simple hem, nothing fancy. One of the dresses had a rather intricate hem, and I mentioned that I was concerned about how she was going to be able to keep the integrity of it, and she waved me off, saying "you just let me worry about that." A few days later I got the call that the dresses were ready. Since I work in the city & they close very early, I had to wait till the following Saturday to pick up the dresses. It cost me $98 for the 4 dresses, CASH or CHECK only. Plus the $8 for parking made the price tag well over $100. This was very very expensive to me. When I got home, I noticed that 3 of the 4 dresses were unacceptable. One was totally uneven; the back was a full inch and a half shorter than the front. One had such a terrible stitching job that there was actually a HOLE in the hem, and the third, the dress I mentioned I wanted to keep the beautiful hem of, that I assumed was why the cost was so high for everything, was TOTALLY HACKED, and destroyed forever. Horrified, I called the shop. The woman said to bring the 2 fixable dresses back and she would fix them. Another $8 and 2 Saturdays later, I picked up the dresses only to find them completely destroyed. One is now un-wearably short, and the hem on the other fell apart before I could even try it on. This was a horrible frustrating experience and I caution anyone not to repeat it. I have no idea how they have such good reviews. read more

The woman who works here, Toni, is rude and the tailoring she does is average. The laundry and dry cleaning turn out fine but these are done by an outside third party. Instead of listening to your request and directions in how you want your clothes to be altered, Toni, will interrupt you and go on about how much of an expert tailor she is and that she knows what to do, etc. Not surprisingly, in my experience the results were not in-line with my requests and instead of being the slightest bit apologetic, when asked, she blamed me (the customer) for not liking her work. I have only used her tailoring services twice, but will certainly not go back. Do laundry and dry cleaning here if you have to, but never let Toni tailor your clothes as it is not worth the trouble and prices are expensive relative to the quality. read more
