After being cooped up for a while we wanted to get out of the house and go somewhere with a "fun" vibe. We passed Teddy Jacks and it seemed to be poppin'. There was a wait to be seated, so we chose to chill at the bar. Andy is a good bartender - no issues there. But the choice of liquors (for a bar) is incredibly limited (only one single malt scotch to choose from?) and the food we were served was amateur and ultimately undesirable. I ordered the "NEW" hot wings to start. DON'T MAKE THAT MISTAKE. They came out lightning-fast for as busy as TJ's was on a Friday night. BUT apparently this is due to the minimal time and attention spent on them. So, to all the wing peeps out there, TJ's isn't frying their wings in oil as they should be. Nor do they grill them or smoke them, which I'd also consider a decent cooking method for wings but not my favorite. TJ's must be either microwaving or boiling their wings, as they have zero crisp or char to them. Repeat, zero. "Gooey" is the best way I can describe them - white (not browned at all), with rubbery skin, and whitish meat that tastes stale, almost fishy (chicken wings are dark meat and should resemble such. These looked almost bleached?). Also, the menu refers to them as "Jumbo" which is just restaurant mumbo jumbo for regular. They're just regular ol' sized wings, TJ's, nothing more. With all the equipment a restaurant has at its disposal, it's difficult to mess up 6 hot wings - fry wings till crispy, drain excess oil, immediately swirl around in a sauce, serve piping HOT. TJ's wings are lightyears from that. (The lady next to us ordered them too - same story - so this wasn't a one-off.) We ordered the Tripple Dipper - queso/salsa/guac with chips. We took a huge financial risk at $12, and lost. LOL. The salsa is fresh and tastes pretty good. The run-of-the-mill queso had unmelted lumps of cheese in the bottom but tasted fine. The guac (where most of the $$ is) has too much salt and an awkward preservative twang to it. Worth maybe $6, but def not $12. We decided to share a California Clucker chicken sandwich. Came with fries, which seemed under-cooked and although not terrible, not that remarkable either. The sandwich was fair to poor. Bun is good, and the avocado slices are fresh. The veggies on the sandwich seemed fresh and tasted fine. But that's where the good ended. The majority of the grilled chicken fillet was super-thin, with one end having a large bulbous knob of meat. This was one of the driest grilled chicken sandwiches either of us could remember. I got the thicker part of the sandwich. It was obvious the chicken had been pre-prepared (if that's a word) and had been sitting, and had lost all of its juices. The bacon was under-cooked (how? why?) and even the order they stack the ingredients on this sandwich is very peculiar, with the tomatoes on the very bottom (??), lettuce over them, the chicken jerky on top of that, then avocado, swiss, then bacon on top. I find that a very weird order, but maybe it's just me. In all, we found our outting at TJ's disappointing, and aside from getting drinks and maybe a pizza (we saw several pizzas that looked rather good) we don't need to sample TJ's menu ever again. This last time, we ordered online to pick up: cheese sticks ($8), fried mushrooms (over cooked and burnt, $8), chicken Alfredo Pasta (with only half a chicken breast, $12), Shiner Fish N Chips (burnt a with some weird tasting liquid sauce, $11), Chicken Fried Steak (no gravy and dry, $15), bowl of Potato soup (which they forgot and I had to go back to get ($5) and Mushroom Chicken Breast (which was j no it entered when transferred from online order). We have since been back and they have shown great improvement. The food is much better and the service is great. You can tell they are working hard to improve. Good job guys. The food was just OK. What my wife and I noticed was that most things were bland, lacking even basic salt. The fried mushroom appetizer was cooked well but the batter was, again, bland. My wife had the chicken fried chicken and the mash potatoes were just that. Mashed potatoes with no flavor. The chicken was done well but bland. I had the carne guisada chimichanga but it was just roast beef, nothing special. The rice was cold and the charo beans were under cooked and crunchy. One positive, the beer was cold. We came by on a Sunday afternoon to eat lunch, the place was busy but we were given a table fairly quickly. Then our experience went down hill quickly, we ordered an appetizer and was asked if we wanted to order our meal as well. We sat for a few minutes and talked started to relax a little bit and then a waiter walked up to the table with our meal. We looked at each other as the young man walked away and while we are trying to figure out why our meal arrived at the table before the appetizer, the appetizers showed up. Then my friend noticed that instead of the salmon salad she had a chicken salad. She was asked if she wanted to send it back and get another salad made and that it shouldn't take too long to make what she had ordered. She declined and asked for the salmon to be brought out for her salad and she would just eat the salad with it instead of the chicken that was in it. While we were trying to eat our meal the waitress came by and asked if we wanted something else, by that time we were ready to just leave there, so we boxed up our meal and appetizer and left. Overall it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in quite some time and it will be a while before I go back again and give them my business. No sooner we ordered ... seemed like 5 minutes... there it was served up hot, juicy n super fast!!! Very relaxed atmosphere. Prices were terrific! The cooks working they butts off! The servers very nice. The manager even came by to check on things. ". Things is great!!" Really enjoyed everything about this place!!! EVERYTHING! Servers and manager do not follow state guidelines for keeping their patrons safe during the pandemic. No face masks (including the manager) or face masks that were worn improperly. First and last visit. My wife and I went in for lunch. The chicken on her sandwich was dry and bland. I had steamed vegetables that were room temperature at best. Rice was lackluster. The atmosphere was funky and kinda cool. I would prefer fewer televisions. That is a personal preference for me. The service was excellent. The food... not so much. Dry. Flavorless. Mediocre. I got the fish tacos. My husband had the Sweet Caroline. The Tacos we served with a slab of tilapia, pico de gallo, topped with cabbage and some sort of lime twist sauce, though I may have read that wrong on the menu. (The menu was overly long with far too many options). The fishiness was overwhelming. I could not easily bite through the corn tortillas because they were stale. I had to put additional guacamole on top, just to get through the dryness. It didn't help. My husband's burger tasted only like the mayonnaise that was in the coleslaw and that was light. The pulled pork had no flavor and neither did the burger. It too was extremely dry. Very disappointed in the food. At one point someone, I assume the manager, stopped by the table and asked if everything tasted ok. I took a breath and opened my mouth to answer and she said "Good!" and walked away. Manager came by and just agreed with gripes no discount. Restroom only has cold water. It's freezing outside. Would like hot water. Wait staff is inexperienced as is the bartender. Not impressed with manager either. Maybe to many choices on menu for them to keep up with to do right. It seats over 450 people. Maybe just to much to do it right. Dear Mr. Jordan I recently had a great time at one of your locations in Amarillo, While the beer is cold and the food is good we had a problem being charged the wrong amount during our stay in which I called the local management and basically told me that cant do nothing about it and that we were wrong and that the waitress are always right. Our Local bank Amarillo National bank stated that The Waitress ran our card 3 times all for different amounts and put a hold on our card for 2 different amounts. All I needed to state was what our bank said and your manager had an attitude and stated they don't know what they are talking about and that they are wrong as well. This was a horrible manager with an attitude and with service and the atmosphere is good he is not very approachable or honorable.. The food was dismal. My son's Chicken Alfredo looked like something prepared for a toddler with 4 little chicken slices of a grilled breast. About 3/4 c of noodles and sauce that was all but missing, had soaked into the noodles no garnishment of Parmesan cheese or anything. Just a plate of dry noodles and 4, quarter inch slices of chicken. A dry piece of bread that looked so pathetic. My food was a joke. I ordered 2 naked rellenos that were stuffed with pork. If you call about a tablespoon of pork stuffed! Thin and watery cheese sauce. I asked for mixed veggies to stay within my program and those were water logged and no flavor. My son got a pizza that would of passed for Walmart's general value brand. It was the Margherita, tomatoes were not ripe and hardly no cheese on the pizza. Waste of money! My daughter's chicken strips were acceptable. My husband was less impressed with the chicken fried chicken for 14 dollars! There is more meat on the chicken sandwiches!
