Stopped by on a Saturday morning and opted to order online ahead, luckily we did because when we came in to pick up our order, there was a line maybe 3-4 people ahead that hadn't ordered or been seated yet. Maybe they were short staffed this day? By the time a worker came over and asked if anyone was here for online pick up, I was the only one luckily so I was able to get our order and go. We got a smoothie, two burritos and the biscuits and gravy. One of our burritos were on the oily side and was dripping a lot of oil when we ate it. The salsa that comes with them is a nice touch! Heading to Waimea Beach and looking for a quick bite. We spot Kono's with great reviews and who doesn't like a breakfast burrito? We find parking in the lot nearby as it is quite large so that was smooth. Go around the corner and find Kono's...no line and there are tables/seats available outside (be prepared to dine with chickens) and even inside. We order the Haleiwa, Waimea, and Local Bomber burritos and this is where things turn. We wait...and wait...and wait..approximately 1 hour for our food! Wow. I get folks are on island time but this is crazy. That said the burritos are quite tasty... so can't complain about that. If you are in a hurry (and yes we wanted to get to the beach early to score parking) then you may want to look at alternatives. read more

My dad and I were driving all around the parking lot looking for this spot, but it's along the road so just park and walk around and you'll find it like we did. We sat outside and I noticed a lot of flies and chickens which was kind of annoying! Luckily they have indoor seating! I ordered the plate lunch and it arrived while I was at my car grabbing a sweater to eat inside. My dad said the rooster literally jumped on my plate and grabbed a bite before being shooed away by the restaurant worker. She took the plate away and proceeded to make me a new plate (which was absolutely YUMM). And of course we ate inside! We shared a Pork Plate and there was plenty for both of us for a decent lunch. We arrived 10 minutes prior to closing yet they were very accommodating. They were out of rice, but provided potato's instead and I am so glad they did!! The potatoes are AMAZING!! The pulled pork is very tender, most, and flavorful! Some of the best pulled pork I've had!! The inside only has three small tables so we had to sit outside on a rainy day on damp chairs - absolutely not the fault of the restaurant - I only wish they had more indoor seating! We saw the line for this place, and it was out the door on New Years Day! We grabbed a coffee from another shop and placed an online order for takeout because we were not about to wait in that line. Our order only took about 15 minutes, which wasn't bad considering how long the line was. We got the local bombed and kalua pig sliders. I've been to another Kono's location and have always been a fan of their food. Everything is so flavorful. The local bomber hit the spot - portugese sausage is my favorite meat, so I knew this one was going to be good. The Kalua pork was moist and the perfect amount of salty. So good. Large portions, and the burritos are so big! Service is good. Sometimes fast and sometimes slower depending on the Time of the morning and time of the year. During our visit to the North Shore, we tried Kono's for the first time, and I was not disappointed. The food options here are plentiful. They have a great variety of bowls, plates, and breakfast items, and everything looked super fresh and tasty. I ordered the Hawaiian Bowl ($14.99), and it was delicious! The pork was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. It paired so well with the white rice and cabbage. My all-time favorite part of the meal was the BBQ sauce they put on the side. I drowned my food in it, and it made the food even more tasty. My husband also enjoyed his food; he ordered the Pork Plate Lunch ($15.50). Service was good, too! The staff was friendly and welcoming, though they did seem a little annoyed because it took our party of 4 a little bit to figure out what we were all going to order since we had never been there before. Thankfully, the place was slow when we got there, so we weren't in anyone's way when we were standing in front of the counter looking at the menu for a while. Once we ordered, we sat down and got our food quickly. One of the coolest things about this place is their tattoo wall! If someone gets their flying pig logo tattooed, they get 25% off for life. It's such a fun and unique idea, which really adds to the personality of the place. I personally would never do that, but I love seeing the pictures of others haha. I kinda knew the last time we went that this place wasn't worth the effort. It was just okay, but I wasn't going to leave a review either way. Today was enough for me to say that it has to be done. First the girl at the cash register couldn't muster a greeting or an anything. It seemed like she was mad at the money. I still tipped because I didn't want to screw the people preparing the food. Second the food took forever to come. Then the people behind me were getting their food ahead of me. Mind you I ordered their easiest burrito (potato, eggs and cheese) and a bagel. It took them 25 minutes to work the science behind defrosting a bagel I suppose. The person making it needed to look at the receipt 5 times to figure it out. Before she could get it together she had to change the TV channel. Third the food was basic. Not great and it took close to an 40 minutes to order and wait for it. I was working in the north shore and my colleague suggested taking us the breakfast at Kono's. I've seen them before but never had the chance to go. The location is on the small side. But the flavor it packs almost explodes out the door. We got there right before the rush. The 4 of us got there as people were leaving. When we left, more than triple the amount of people were waiting to sit. Most ordered and were waiting on their food. The guys who work here are pretty quick. We each got the chuns burrito. We got here pretty early and they were out of chicken, our quesadillas took over 25 minutes to get (I swear we have patience for island time) and the benches outside were on the verge of collapse if one more ant roamed the table top. Kono's is located in the heart of Haleiwa, there's a parking lot behind the restaurant which is convenient as parking in town can get busy. We stopped in for breakfast on a Tuesday. There was a line, so be prepared to wait to order and for your meal to be prepared. There are hand flow seats inside picnic tables outside as well as a few chairs. The restaurant is lacking in cleanliness, the staff were friendly and menu had various items. We tried the breakfast burritos, you get what you see on the menu, very basic/plain. I feel like even just putting the burrito in a pan/on a grill once stuffed with all of the ingredients would send it over the top. If you're looking for basic hand held breakfast options this is it, but be prepared to wait as it does get long. read more

Food was MID at best, the bomber was okay, the sneakers milk shake was pretty good, but the triple crown sandwich was very dry and the sunrise smoothie wasn't very good. Nearly $50 for two meals and two drink. Service left a lot to be desired as well. Got our name wrong and they missed our kids meal completely and we had to go back a second time to pay for it. Another $10 for a plain flour tortilla and cheese. Ambiance was nice, lots of shady spots to sit. The chickens are extremely brave and will pester you for food.
