this rerstaurant for me is the best tex-mex in okc, the attention to detail and the quality products are amazing

We hadn't been to Ted's Escondido in years, but we used to be regulars back in the day. With a few great Mexican spots much closer to us now (shoutout to Gustavo!), we figured we'd step out of our routine and give bingo night at Ted's a try. We arrived around 6:45pm for the 7pm bingo, only to find out it wasn't being held on the patio as advertised. That was fine--it was hot out anyway. We were shown to a small indoor section and luckily grabbed the last high-top table. Service was very slow. We waited a while before anyone came by, and it took 40 minutes to get my margarita. Our food actually came out before our drinks. I ordered a skinny margarita but got something syrupy and full of sweet & sour mix instead. Tried to switch to wine, but surprise--they don't serve wine. At a full bar. Odd. The food was just okay at best. * "Cilantro lime" rice had corn and no trace of cilantro or lime. Not good. * Black beans with pico--bland. * Cheese enchilada--fine, but forgettable. * Queso tasted like El Chico (nostalgic, but not in a good way). * Salsa had zero spice. Our server was rarely around, and when we were ready to pay, we actually had to get up and ask the manager at the host stand to bring us our check. Not a great ending to the meal. Bingo was... fine. It moved fast but had long breaks in between rounds. We played five games and didn't win. Prizes were $10 gift cards--not bad, but not enough to bring us back. read more

Horrible experience. My mother and I were only served the complimentary chips, salsa and queso. No other waiter/ waitress interaction, no drink order taken. After waiting for about 30 mins we decided to leave and go somewhere else. read more

All the little starters are great! Salsas, chips and flour tortillas are fresh and yummy Tortilla soup was excellent!! And it's botttomless!!! Came in when it was dead as a group of 4. Had 1 meal messed up, a drink messed up, and the tortillas wasn't prepared when they brought out the fajitas with the everyone else's meals. Waited for the tortillas, amd then mentioned to the waiter again after seeing another table be brought out tortillas. When we handed them the cash to pay, they did not come back with change. Another waitress told us we could leave, and we still gotten out change back. read more

Ted's Café Escondido's quality of food, excellent service and the nice modern dining environment make it difficult to give the restaurant anything less than five stars. Ted's does a great job in providing a pleasurable dining experience. I can see why many like it. The restaurant is not one of my favorites, simply because of how their version of Mexican food is seasoned. Tomato sauce, that's it, too much tomato sauce. I prefer more red chili pepper. The beef in my wife's taco salad was tender, flavorful, delicious, and lots of it. I had the Mexican Flag Enchiladas served on a hot plate. One beef with verde sauce, one chicken with queso and one cheese with red sauce. The chicken was braised in tomato sauce, and the cheese enchilada was covered in a tomato based red sauce. Quality food on a hot plate; just not the flavors I prefer. Great beans and rice. The chips and salsas are excellent. The service we had from Luis was flawless. read more

Been here three times and all three times I've been disappointed. The staff and the building itself are the best part of the dining experience, because of the food is not great - it's not even good. There are so many Mexican and Tex-Mex and southwest restaurants in the broken arrow Tulsa area, I'm convinced people only choose this one because it's near hotels. This is like Mexican food for people who don't enjoy flavor or taste. It is definitely a quantity over quality experience. The most redeeming part of the food is the premeal set up, which includes unlimited chips, tortillas, salsa, "cheese" sauce, and relish. The entrées are sure to disappoint. read more

I said rice lime 4x and i got fries, i asked for queso and got a cup of ketchup, i caught her picking in her ear through the glass window, WITH the gloves on, in-fact did not change gloves. I find that very very disturbing and disgusting. my plates were also dirty. read more

Local TexMex establishment in Tulsa. I believe they have two locations. The food was good, salsa was my favorite for sure. Next time I will most likely stick with guac and salsa, if we go back. The staff was great accommodating our large group.... When I say large.... 2 High School soccer teams... so yes... large. There was plenty of seating and the servers kept the water flowing and chips full, that is a feat in itself. The food looked good but sadly for this celiac girl I did lot feel safe eating here. The menu was not marked which is an initial red flag for anyone with food allergies. When I asked our server if they could do a steak nacho gluten free she said they would need to sub the chips.... My eyes kinda went big and she noticed..... I had been eating the chips from the basket at our table!!! When I asked why they were not gluten free she said they were made with white corn. If you have celiac.... Then you know.... So she kindly switched our chips and my husband went to the car so I could get ahead of any reaction that was imminent. I removed a star mainly for the awareness to common food allergies not being labeled on their menu, this in my opinion is a must for restaurants! Otherwise the servers were wonderful, kind and caring to our group when they could have been impatient and short tempered. Serving that many teenagers is tough work! read more

We were greeted by friendly staff and seated promptly. Our wait staff person was friendly and took our drink orders immediately upon us being seated. The restaurant was clean and brand new. We had been referred by friends and we were so glad we came. The set up was awesome, our main entrees were hot, fresh and delicious. We recommend Ted's! read more

Terrible experience. I've been going to Ted's in the city since I was a kid. When my family flew back to OK to visit our folks here, I was excited when I realized a new Ted's had opened close to where we were staying. Just so disappointing. First the place. It's like eating in a late 80s-era Wendy's. Just open seating throughout. You can hear everything and it's all extremely loud. Literally cannot have a conversation with people next to you loud. It's sterile and empty and just sad. The staff were terrible. I think they may be training? I hope. They honestly had no idea what they were doing. Our waitress took our drink order then disappeared for 10min while some chips and salsa came... nothing to drink for so long!!! Everyone was just looking for her as we were all so thirsty after handfuls of chips... thinking, well, drinks are about to be here right? No. I had to waive her down at the bar. She had just forgotten to get them. She had them rushed over by someone who just kept asking who had what? It was 4 waters, 1 coke, and 1 sweet tea. Pretty simple arithmetic... Okay, now the food. Low quality. That simple. Really just bottom-tier flavor and low quality of ingredients. The rice was sad and flavorless, the refried beans were chunky, flavorless, and had a thick crusty dried skin crunched up all over it, like they had scraped these serving off the sides of a very old pot of forgotten beans. The burritos were okay, but no one wanted to finish their food... just a waste. Not good. Oh, and my wife bought fajitas. They were not only not sizzling, they had no scent, no flavor, nothing. They were just sorta warm? Weird. I've never seen such a failure on fajitas at any restaurant. Still the server just left us. No visits, waters empty, chips out, just on our own. And the place was like 2/3 empty with 6-7 servers just hovering around the bar and going in and out of the kitchen with nothing in their hands. Oh, and to top it off, I had to pay at a filthy, queso smeared iPad knock-off in the middle of the table. Literally never saw the waitress again until we were about to leave and she rushed over to ask us if we wanted our sopapillas. Okay, in a box... got to wait another 6min... fun. Okay, so that was a lot. Let's just say this was a very bad experience and I'd suggest going to a different Ted's in you want to go to one. TL;DR: Terrible experience. We stopped at Ted's after a flight on our way home from a Vegas. Service was outstanding! Food matched the service and really hit the spot. While other places charge for queso it is free along with fresh tortillas. Just an outstanding meal at a fair price! Location was clean and enjoyable. We really loved this location. I haven't been to Ted's in years. Fell heavy in love with it years ago in OKC. Service is slow but they are kind. Food was bland and cold. Very disappointed. Too many great Mexican joints in town to have this experience. Ambiance is eh. Restaurant is pretty dirty. read more

Lovely place but I did not enjoy my meal... it tasted too commercial and although the waitress was doing her job she was rude and cold. Which in turn made our experience even less enjoyable. The other person wasn't impressed either. Maybe it was an off day.. maybe not.. will try another time. Im.not sure though. Im a self proclaimed mexican food expert.. Ted's is always a great spot to stop in for lunch or dinner! The lunch menu is simple and easy to read and food portions are perfect and not oversized. Our waiter Kyle was great, very friendly and knowledgeable for recommendations. We have been to Ted's several times now. The first time, several months ago, it was good with great service. Each time since, it has been disappointing. The food lacks seasoning & flavor - no matter what we've ordered. No salt, no spice. Last visit, my husband & I both specified NO cheese sauce on our food - it came swimming in cheese sauce. I don't think I've ever been to a Mexican restaurant that doesn't put red or green sauce on enchiladas. The service was just okay, but the waiter kept making mistakes & having to return to the table. Collectively, with several times of bad food, then mediocre service to boot - we're done. No more Ted's. read more

Great food, great service. Met up with old friends and Luanne (hope I got that spelled correctly) made us feel so welcome. We dropped so much stuff (old arthritic hands) and she was so loving and careful in making sure we enjoyed out meal. Thank you Ted's for a wonderful experience. read more

Absolutely do not recommend on any level. My family came here for my birthday, we sat outside as we had our 4 month old with us. Directly next to us was one of the servers Shonda's parents who started chain smoking. This restaurant has a no smoking policy and they did nothing to enforce it. Had to get up and walk away from as my baby was coughing from the smoke. On top of that, we all got shrimp tacos which led us all to have stomach aches. Food was very bland, rice over cooked, and overall not worth the price we paid of it. Experience and food was utterly awful. Called the manager Joseph about the situation and he was no help and only provided a very basic " I'm sorry I'll talk to her". He couldn't care less which speaks volumes about the level of care they put into this restaurant. GO ANYWHERE ELSE. read more

We went to the new location at 61st and Elm. Very pretty. Excellent service and the food was really good. I've got to say that it was chilly so if you tend to be cold take a sweater or jacket. I will definitely go back! read more
